  • Unexpected behaviour when dynamically add node in HAproxy server

    I wanted to use HAProxy for my web app for load balancing purpose. I am trying to add a new rabbitmq node dynamically in HAProxy server using command : haproxy -p /var/run/haproxy.pid -sf $(cat /var/run/haproxy.pid). I am doing tcp connection mode with leastconn balance algorithm in load balancing. What is expected is when there is 3 connection in one rabbitmq, I add a new rabbit server in HAProxy server. so the next connection would pass to 2nd rabbitmq server which is not happening in my case. It distributes the connection in haphazardly manner.   • nginx + wordpress in /wordpress subdir

    I installed nginx and would like to setup wordpress as a final step. I followed many howtos but am unable to get it working. The setup is fairly straightforward, the root dir of the webserver is /data/Sites/nkr1pt.homelinux.net. In that root dir I created a symlink to the wordpress folder in /usr/local/wordpress, so in fact all wordpress files can be accessed at /data/Sites/nkr1pt.homelinux.net/wordpress. Permissions are ok. The plan is to get wordpress working at http://sirius/wordpress, the server's name is sirius. spawn-fcgi is running and listening on port 7777. We are having problem with our portal because it uses SSO. We need sticky connection support in our HAproxy. Also we need load balancing for HTTPS traffic.   • Process killing trouble

    I am trying to program a server software which involves a lot of testing on java / scala platform. Whenever i compile and execute the code. It starts listening on port 80. Sometimes i need to terminate it by Ctrl+C when it hangs. In that case, ubuntu is not freeing the port. So in order to run the process, i have to restart the machine. I see this at ps aux root 1924 0.0 0.0 5796 1660 pts/0 T 05:44 0:00 sudo scala - root 1925 0.2 1.5 491448 40796 pts/0 Tl 05:44 0:03 java -Xmx256M -Xms16M So process 1924 and 1925. I did sudo kill on both these. But then they keep on persisting even after a long time. sudo nmap -T Aggressive -A -v 127.0.0.1 -p 1-65000 Scanning localhost (127.0.0.1) [65000 ports] Discovered open port 80/tcp on 127.0.0.1 It means its still there ! sudo netstat --tcp --udp --listening --program tcp6 0 0 [::]:www [::]:* LISTEN 1925/java tcp6 0 0 ip6-localhost:ipp [::]:* LISTEN 1185/cupsd This means its 1925 - java How to kill it.

  • dnsmasq(as DHCP server) isn't working in KVM+libvirt envirmont

    I'm using dnsmasq as DHCP server in VM environment. But It didn't working. I disabled basic DHCP feature in libvirt. <network> <name>default</name> <uuid>84da0678-e56d-8fc2-6f8b-e8eba784849a</uuid> <forward mode='nat'/> <bridge name='virbr0' stp='on' delay='0' /> <mac address='52:54:00:7B:64:0B'/> <ip address='192.168.122.1' netmask='255.255.255.0'> </ip> </network> As you can see, I removed this tag! <dhcp> <range start='192.168.122.2' end='192.168.122.254' /> </dhcp> And I installed dnsmasq in Host machine. During installation dnsmasq, there was an error message about 127.0.0.1.(dnsmasq: failed to create listening socket for 127.0.0.1) So I commented out listen-address option, and added dhcp-range/dhcp-option options, like this. listen-address=127.0.0.1 dhcp-range=192.168.122.100,192.168.122.200,24h dhcp-option=option:router,192.168.122.1 That's all I've done with dnsmasq. But guest VM couldn't get IP address from host which is dnsmasq server running. After that , I installed isc-dhcp-server instead of dnsmasq.... and it works! But I still want to use dnsmasq instead of isc-dhcp-server. Are there any helping hands? I disabled host machine's firewall. I've heard that libvirt basically use dnsmasq. Is this the reason why I couldn't use dnsmasq in libvirt environment?

  • A complicated nginx/php-fpm chroot setup

    I'm running nginx and php-fpm, and I want to set up jails for each host. My setup is a little complicated, so following tutorials on the web gets me nowhere. Each site has a directory /var/www/domain.name/ Inside that directory, there will be a public/ directory which will be the website root, a logs/ directory which will store nginx logs for that site specifically, and the chroot filesystem (etc/, usr/, etc.) The first problem I've run into is that nomatter how I configure it, PHP-FPM cannot find the files that are passed to it via nginx. They result in a "Primary script unknown" error, and to make matters worse, the error messages from PHP-FPM are no more verbose than that, so I can't figure out what path is being passed by nginx. A php-fpm pool configuration for a host looks like this: [host] user = host group = www-data chroot = /var/www/domain.name chdir = /public listen = 127.0.0.1:900x 'x' is incremented for each pool. The nginx config for this host looks like this: server { listen 80; server_name domain.name *.domain.name; root /var/www/domain.name/public; index index.php index.html index.html; location ~ \.php$ { expires epoch; fastcgi_split_path_info ^(.+\.php)(/.+)$; include fastcgi_params; fastcgi_index index.php; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME $document_root$fastcgi_script_name; fastcgi_pass 127.0.0.1:9001; } } I'm guessing that the problem is the SCRIPT_FILENAME parameter, but I've changed it to just $fastcgi_script_name, and various other combinations, but to no avail.   • Is there a way to "burn" audio to an ISO? (as an audio CD)

    I have an audiobook that I've downloaded via their download manager, and it's loaded into their cutesy little audio program that they force you to use. I can play the book just fine using their proprietary software, and while it's annoying when using my PC, it's utterly UNBEARABLE when I try to listen to it on my Blackberry. The program is INSANELY slow, it literally takes around 30 seconds to switch between tracks, so if I've forgotten where I am in the book it takes me around 15 minutes to finally get to where I was at. I've looked everywhere on how to transcode the book to .MP3, but evidently with their current format it's either extremely convoluted (and I have no desire to dick around with installing some older version of the codec, getting a different transcoding app, and then wrestling with getting it to actually work). Since I'm able to burn a copy of the book to an audio CD, I figure the best way to go about this is to just make the CDs and then rip them off of those to .MP3. In order to avoid wasting two hours, not to mention 14 CD-R's, I was wondering if there's a way to "burn" to an .ISO instead of an actual CD-R. I currently have SlySoft's Virtual CloneDrive installed, so I can mount .ISO's easily enough, but now I want to actually create an ISO via the CD burning process. Just in case I've not explained myself very well, here is an overview of what I intend to do: "Burn" a set of Audio CD .ISOs from the audiobook (hopefully I can do this using Windows Media Player, otherwise I'll be forced to use the audiobook app) Mount an .ISO in Virtual CloneDrive Rip the audio tracks on the mounted .ISO to .MP3s Repeat steps 2-3 until the entire book is in .MP3 format Copy .MP3s to my Blackberry so that I'm not driven insane every time I want to listen to the book in the car, and be able to use Winamp when listening on my computer EDIT: I'd suppose a rather concise way to put it is that I need something that will emulate a CD-R drive, so that you can select it as the output drive in whatever app your burning the audio CD from. (I'd suppose that when you "insert a blank CD-R" the app would then ask you what file to save to)

  • Iptables - Redirect outbound traffic on a port to inbound traffic on 127.0.0.1

    I will be awarding a +100 bounty to the correct answer once it is available in 48 hours Is there a way to redirect traffic set to go out of the server to another IP, back to the server on localhost (preferably as if it was coming from the original destination)? I'd basically like to be able to set up my own software that listens on say, port 80, and receives traffic that was sent to say, 1.2.3.4. So as an example with some code. Here would be the server: my $server = IO::Socket::INET->new( LocalAddr => '127.0.0.1', LocalPort => '80', Listen => 128, ); And that would receive traffic from the following client: my $client = IO::Socket::INET->new( PeerAddr => 'google.com', PeerPort => '80', ) So rather than having the client be connecting to google.com, it would be connecting to the server I have listening on localhost for that same server. My intention is to use this to catch malware connecting to remote hosts. I don't specifically need the traffic to be redirected to 127.0.0.1, but it needs to be redirected to an IP the same machine can listen to. Edit: I've tried the following, and it doesn't work-- echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp --dport 80 -j DNAT --to-destination 127.0.0.1:80 iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -j MASQUERADE

  • SSL with nginx on subdomain not working

    I'm using nginx to serve three sites: example1.com (which redirects to www.example1.com), example2.com (which redirects to www.example2.com), and a subdomain of example2.com, call it sub.example2.com. This all works fine without SSL. I recently got SSL certs (from StartSSL), one for www.example1.com, one for www.example2.com, and one for sub.example2.com. I got them set up and everything seems to work (I'm using SNI to make all this work on a single IP address), except for sub.example2.com. I can still access it fine over non-SSL, but on SSL I just get a timeout. If I go directly to my server's IP address, I get served the SSL certificate for sub.example2.com, so I know nginx is loading the certificate properly...but somehow it doesn't seem to be listening for sub.example2.com on port 443, even though I told it to. I'm running nginx 1.4.2 on Debian 6 (squeeze); here's my config for sub.example2.com (the other domains have similar configs): server { server_name sub.example2.com; listen 80; listen 443 ssl; ssl_certificate /etc/nginx/ssl/sub.example2.com/server-unified.crt; ssl_certificate_key /etc/nginx/ssl/sub.example2.com/server.key; root /srv/www/sub.example2.com; } Does anything look amiss? What am I missing? I don't know if it matters, but StartSSL lists the base domain as a subject alternative name (SAN); not sure if that would somehow pose problems, if both subdomains list the same SAN.

  • Sharing two SSL wildcard certificates in memory in nginx

    I have an nginx server running with two IP addresses, say 1.2.3.4 and 4.3.2.1. Besides there are two wildcard SSL certificates for *.example.net (i.e. wc1, pointing to 1.2.3.4) and *.sub.example.net (i.e. wc2, pointing to 4.3.2.1). The nginx docs mention that you can share a wildcard certificate between server instances like this: ssl_certificate wc1.crt; ssl_certificate_key wc1.key; server { listen 1.2.3.4:443; server_name www.example.net; ssl on; ... } server { listen 1.2.3.4:443; server_name test.example.net; ssl on; ... } However, I was wondering whether this same construct is possible to use with the second wildcard certificate too. Both domains have around 500 subdomains. Do they not get mixed up, since the ssl_certificate construct is now global?

  • Async ignored on AJAX requests on Nginx server

    Despite sending an async request to the server over AJAX, the server will not respond until the previous unrelated request has finished. The following code is only broken in this way on Nginx, but runs perfectly on Apache.     I'm trying to set a moodle server up on an Ubuntu box, which already serves Plone & Trac via Apache. In my Moodle config I have $CFG-wwwroot = 'http://www.server-name.org/moodle' The configuration below works fine for the first two, but when I visit www.server-name.com/moodle I get: Incorrect access detected, this server may be accessed only through "http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8888/moodle" address, sorry It then forwards to the IP address, where Moodle functions fine.     Unfortunately, I can't seem to get a simple Apache VHost online. I used to simply have one VHost which bound to all: <VirtualHost *:80>, but this isn't appropriate for security anymore. I need to have one VHost for localhost requests (ie my dev server) and one for incoming requests via my domain name.     i have a daemon program which listens on 127.0.0.1:8000. i need to access it when i connect to my box with vpn. so i want it to listen on the ppp0 interface too. i've tried the "ssh -L" method. it works, but i don't think it's the right way to do that, having an extra ssh process running in the background. i tried the "netcat" method. it exits when the connection is closed. so not a valid way for "listening". i also tried several iptables rules. none of them worked. i'm not listing here all the rules i've used. iptables -A FORWARD -j ACCEPT iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i ppp+ -p tcp --dport 8000 -j DNAT --to-destination 127.0.0.1:8000 the above ruleset doesn't work. i have net.ipv4.ip_forward set to 1. anyone knows how to redirect traffic from ppp interface to lo? say, listen on "192.168.45.1:8000 (ppp0)" as well as "127.0.0.1:8000 (lo)" there's no need to alter the port. thanx

    I am trying to design an infrastucture for the project I am working on. It would be somehow a file-sharing/downloading project (like rapidshare) and I would need high storage sizes and good scability, and I would add new storage nodes after my project grows up. I have come up with 3 solutions for my project which are using Luster, GlusterFS, HDFS, RDBD. For start, i would have 2 servers, one server is for glusterfs client + webserver + db server+ a streaming server, and the other server is gluster storage node. (After sometime, i would be adding more node servers, and client servers (dont know how many new client new servers to add, will see later) So, i am thinking to work with glusterfs. But i really wonder that if i have to use high performance servers with high sotrage sizes or avarage/slow servers with high storage sizes? Or nas/das/san solutions are better for glusterfs storage nodes? I might buy a nas and install glusterfs onto it. I would be happy to listen to your recommendations for the server properties (for each clients and nodes) . I really dont know if I really need high amount of ram and good cpus to for the nodes. I am sure i need it for client servers. The files would be streamed as well, so the Automatic file replication is important, thus, my system should work like a cloud, when needed, according to high traffic, the storage nodes should copy the most demanded file to be streamed and would help me to get rid of scability problems and my visitors would able to stream/download those files. Also, i am open to your experiences/thoughts about any good solution. Luster, hdfs, rbdb are the other options and i would be happy to listen to your thoughts here. I would be very very happy to hear back from anyone commented of any words I have used here. Thanks

Even when I point new urls to the IP 1.1.1.1, webpages serve from http://ccbbbcc.com. Why is the ccbbbcc.com overriding all my other virtual hosts? Why am I unable to serve pages from /var/www directory? I've made sure to use a2ensite and to restart apache. The problem is when I request http://development.anunuseddomain.co.nz/ or http://development.assldomain.co.nz/ it responds with the same as http://development.somedomain.co.nz/ I want it to deny all requests that do not match a virtual host server name and all requests to a https host that are requested with http PS I'm running XAMPP on Mac OS X 10.5.8

    I'm setting up a server with KVM (IP 192.168.0.100) and I have created inside of it one virtual machine using network bridging at 192.168.0.194. This virtual machine has an nginx instance running, which I can access from the server or from any computer computer in the internal network just typing in the browser http://192.168.0.194. However, I try configure HAProxy in the same server that hosts KVM and looking the status page of HAProxy it always shows the virtual machine as "DOWN". If I try from the server http://localhost, it should be the same than if I go to http://192.168.0.194. My goal is to build a reverse proxy, but I tried this little example and won't work. What am I doing bad?
