  • Apache on linux : spawning processes or threads ?

    - by Jerome WAGNER
Hello, I would like to understand better exactly what is going on when Apache on linux receive an HTTP request in a process pre-fork model. Let's say we have 20 Apache child processes waiting. When I receive an HTTP request, is it true to say that 1 child process will be chosen to handle the request and that this process won't handle another request from another user until the first one is finished ? I am asking the question because of a PHP limitation that states : The locale information is maintained per process, not per thread. If you are running PHP on a multithreaded server API like IIS or Apache on Windows, you may experience sudden changes in locale settings while a script is running, though the script itself never called setlocale(). This happens due to other scripts running in different threads of the same process at the same time, changing the process-wide locale using setlocale(). Thanks Jerome Wagner

  • Zend_Table_Db and Zend_Paginator and Zend_Paginator_Adapter_DbSelect

    - by Uffo
I have the following query: $this->select() ->where("`name` LIKE ?",'%'.mysql_escape_string($name).'%') Now I have the Zend_Paginator code: $paginator = new Zend_Paginator( // $d is an instance of Zend_Db_Select new Zend_Paginator_Adapter_DbSelect($d) ); $paginator->getAdapter()->setRowCount(200); $paginator->setItemCountPerPage(15) ->setPageRange(10) ->setCurrentPageNumber($pag); $this->view->data = $paginator; As you see I'm passing the data to the view using $this->view->data = $paginator Before I didn't had $paginator->getAdapter()->setRowCount(200);I could determinate If I have any data or not, what I mean with data, if the query has some results, so If the query has some results I show the to the user, if not, I need to show them a message(No results!) But in this moment I don't know how can I determinate this, since count($paginator) doesn't work anymore because of $paginator->getAdapter()->setRowCount(200);and I'm using this because it taks about 7 sec for Zend_Paginator to count the page numbers. So how can I find If my query has any results?

  • PHP - Is possible to find if user is browsing from beind a Router and get Router Info

    - by Fábio Antunes
Hello guys. I think it isn't possible just using PHP, but just to be sure. Is it possible for PHP to know if the user is accessing the web from behind a Router? And if yes, how can i get some information about that router, like: Router Name, Brand, Serial Number, ... Users connected in the same network. Can PHP also find the Local IP Address for the visitor in that Network? A few simple questions. To which i haven't found a solid answer, and i tough that some PHP genius could tell me. And teach me. Thanks for your help.

  • Bookmarking n Joomla

    - by Aruna
    Hi, i am using the Plugin Content Bookmarker downloaded from http://dev.aarthikaindia.com/downloads/category/3-plugins.html for my site. Some of the Articles are able to Bookmark like if i click on the Bookmark (twitter) , it directly bookmarks in Twitter with Some description of the Article where some of the Articles are not bookmarked instead it just links to http://www.twitter.com.. Code : <?php // no direct access defined( '_JEXEC' ) or die( 'Restricted access' ); $mainframe->registerEvent( 'onAfterDisplayContent', 'plgContentBookmarker' ); function plgContentBookmarker( &$row, &$params, $page=0 ) { $plugin = & JPluginHelper::getPlugin('content', 'bookmarker'); // Load plugin params info $pluginParams = new JParameter($plugin->params); $id = $row-id; $desc_tags = addslashes(str_replace("\n","", $row->title )); $desc_tags = trim($desc_tags); $desc_tags_space= str_replace(',', ' ', @$desc_tags_space); $desc_tags_semi = str_replace(',', ';', @$desc_tags_semi); $desc_tags_space = str_replace(' ', ' ', @$desc_tags_space); $description1 = strip_tags( $row->introtext ); $description2 = str_replace("'", '', strip_tags($description1)); $description = str_replace('"', '', strip_tags($description2)); $markme_title = $desc_tags; $markme_ddesc = substr($description,0,400).'...'; $baseurl = JURI::base(); $title = $pluginParams->def('title', 'Book Mark this Article'); $facebook = $pluginParams->def('facebook', '1'); $twitter = $pluginParams->def('twitter', '1'); $html.= '<div onmouseover="javascript:if(document.getElementById(\'divShowAddBookmarker'.$id.'\').style.display ==\'none\'){document.getElementById(\'divShowAddBookmarker'.$id.'\').style.display =\'block\';}" onmouseout="javascript:if(document.getElementById(\'divShowAddBookmarker'.$id.'\').style.display ==\'block\'){document.getElementById(\'divShowAddBookmarker'.$id.'\').style.display =\'none\';}" id="divShowAddBookmarker'.$id.'" style="display:none;position:absolute; background-color:#F4F4F4;width:240px;padding:3px;border:2px solid #999999;z-index:999"> <div style="padding:2px;">'; if( $facebook == 1 ) { $html.= '<div style="width:115px;float:left"> <a style="text-decoration:none;" href="http://www.facebook.com/" onclick="window.open(\'http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=\'+encodeURIComponent(location.href)+\'&amp;t='.$markme_title.'&amp;d='.$markme_ddesc.'\');return false;"> <img style="vertical-align:bottom;padding:1px;" src="'.$baseurl."plugins/content/smart_bookmarker/facebook.gif".'" title="Facebook" name="facebook" border="0" id="facebook" alt="" /> '.JText::_( 'Facebook' ).' </a> </div>'; } if( $twitter == 1 ) { $html.= '<div style="width:115px;float:left"> <a style="text-decoration:none;" href="http://www.twitter.com/" onclick="window.open(\'http://twitter.com/home/?status=\'+encodeURIComponent(location.href)+\'-'.$markme_ddesc.'\');return false;"> <img style="vertical-align:bottom;padding:1px;" src="'.$baseurl."plugins/content/smart_bookmarker/twitter.gif".'" title="twitter" name="twitter" border="0" id="twitter" alt="" /> '.JText::_( 'Twitter' ).' </a> </div>'; } $html.= '<div style="clear:both"></div> </div> </div>'; return $html; } ?   • PHP 5 and Zend MVC on Windows and IIS

    - by Abdullah Jibaly
Are there any major issues to be aware of running a PHP 5 / Zend MVC production application on Windows? The particular application is Magento, an ecommerce system, and the client is really not interested in having a Linux box in their datacenter. Has anyone had luck getting PHP 5 and Zend MVC working correctly on IIS?

  • codeigniter and OOP general question regarding calling functions, and the parent constuctor

    - by thrice801
Ok so I have some gaps in my understanding of PHP OOP, classes and functions specifically, this whole constructor class deal. I use both Zend and CI but right now Im trying to figure this out in CI as it is less complicated. So all Im trying to do is understand how to call a function from a view page in code igniter. I understand that might go against MVC but Im working with an api and search results not from my database, so basically, I want to define a function in my class that I am able to call in one of my view pages.. and I keep getting "Fatal error: Call to undefined function functionname" error no matter what I try. I thought I just had to declare public function testing() { echo "testing testing 123; } but calling that from the view I get that error. Then I read something about having to go parent::Controller(); in the index of the class where the testing function also resides? But that didnt work either. Anyways, ya, can someone explain what I need to do in order to call the "testing()" function on one of my view pages? and clarification on the constructor class and what exactly parent::Controller() even does, would be much appreciated as well.

  • ajax in zend frame work

    - by rookie
Hi, I am new to Zend Frame Work. I am using $ajaxContext = $this-_helper-getHelper('AjaxContext'); for adding action contexts. I have one Index.phtml page and all other views are ajax.phtml pages. I have to do some java script methods in the ajax.phtml pages. But i didn't find a way to refer the js files in the ajax.phtml pages. I have tried adding those in the controller init and index action, using $this-view-headScript()-appendFile, though i have the reference added in the page source, none of htese seems to be working on the ajax content. Then i tried to add it in the action for the ajax page, then it is not coming in the page source itself. As far as i understood, $this-view-headScript()-appendFile will append the file reference to the layout page and for the ajax.phtml pages, the layout will be disabled. Is there any way that i can refer my js files in the ajax.phtml pages?

  • 500 error using lighttpd, fastcgi and PHP on file upload

    - by Dan
I have a server running lighttpd with fastcgi, and it appears to be working correctly. However when I try to upload a file using a form, I get a 500 Internal server error, along with the following in the logs: 2012-03-23 18:25:09: (mod_fastcgi.c.2566) unexpected end-of-file (perhaps the fastcgi process died): pid: 2755 socket: unix:/tmp/php-fastcgi-1.socket-0 2012-03-23 18:25:09: (mod_fastcgi.c.3354) response not received, request sent: 50437 on socket: unix:/tmp/php-fastcgi-1.socket-0 for /index.php?url=brand/manager, closing connection I've been looking around for a long while now trying to find a solution to the issue, but nothing I'm trying is working. My current fastcgi conf looks as follows: server.modules += ( "mod_fastcgi" ) fastcgi.server = ( ".php" => (( "socket" => "/tmp/php-fastcgi-1.socket", "bin-path" => "/usr/bin/php-cgi", "allow-x-send-file" => "enable", "max-procs" => 1, "broken-scriptfilename" => "enable" )) ) If anyone could suggest if there is anything wrong in the configuration it would be greatly appreciated, or any suggestion as to what I might do? As I say, it is only happening when trying to upload a file (the file in question being only 45k). Thanks, Dan

  • IIS6: PHP Sessions

    - by Alerty
I have installed PHP to work with IIS6 (with FastCGI). I am capable of viewing a sample test website that shows the PHP info with the following code: <?php phpinfo(); ?> Now that this works I tried to migrate my PHP website to IIS6 and here is a list of the errors/warnings I got: PHP Warning: session_start(): open(C:\WINDOWS\Temp\sess_rjbv0ialf7uf03to69q1e4l101, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in C:\Site\index.php on line 11 PHP Warning: Unknown: open(C:\WINDOWS\Temp\sess_rjbv0ialf7uf03to69q1e4l101, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in Unknown on line 0 PHP Warning: Unknown: Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (C:\WINDOWS\Temp) in Unknown on line 0 After seeing this, I corrected the php.ini file to set correctly the session date value: session.save_path="C:\WINDOWS\Temp" Yet doing so has done nothing! How can I make it work?

  • file_get_contents() returns "failed to open stream" when used with Facebook access_token flow

    - by TMC
file_get_contents() is returning "failed to open stream" when I call it on a Facebook oAuth access_token URL. Warning: file_get_contents(https://graph.facebook.com/oauth/access_token?client_id=XXXXX&redirect_uri=http://mydomain.com/fb/callback3.php&client_secret=xxxx&code=YYYY) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: No error in E:\\htdocs\fb\callback3.php on line 5 (I have removed ClientID, clientSecret and the oAuth Code). If I try to manually hit the Facebook access_token URL that my code is attempting to fetch, I get an actual payload returned in the browser: access_token=XYZ&expires=6508 (where XYZ is the access token) So for some reason, there is a problem with the access_token URL specifically when used with file_get_contents(). At first, I thought it was a security issue with my webhoster, but I have verified with phpinfo() that allow url open is indeed allowed. I have also tried this code and verified it works: $foo = file_get_contents('http://google.com'); echo $foo Anyone have any ideas why file_get_contents() is failing with the Facebook access_token URL?

  • Why not to use Array of errors instead of Exception Handling !?

    - by Naughty.Coder
Why not using array of errors instead of throwing errors and check if it's not empty later in the code.... Exception handling is very confusing to me , I can not understand it's purpose ... can anybody enlighten me !? they compare it with die() as better not to stop the execution of the code , why would I stop the execution of code if I don't want to !? ofcourse I do I'm a beginner programmer , it might be confusing to you as well , or because i'm not very experienced in this ugly thing. Please in the context of PHP only.

  • a missing variable in a switch statement ?!!

    - by mechhfly
hi folks, i have a strange issue. a variable seems to be missing during a pass through a case statement i have a function like so function checklink($var0, $var1, $var2) { switch($var0) { case "case1": print $var2; //code uses $var2 successfully case "case2": print $var2; //variable has disappeared! } } essentially what i am doing is constructing a string from the last variable based on the first. if i run the code in which the first case is true, i get the expected results, but when i run the second case, my variable seems to have vanished. these first two case statements are syntactically the same and the variable is gathered from the $_GET array (hard coded into hyperlink). any light on this issue? if more explanation is needed let me know, its late and my brain is getting mushy. thanks my friends.

  • Arranging models, views, controllers in a Kohana 3 project

    - by Pekka
I'm looking at how to set up a mid-sized web application with Kohana 3. I have implemented MVC patterns in the past but never worked against a "formalized" MVC framework so I'm still getting my head around the terminology - toying around with basic examples, building views and templates, and so on. I'm progressing fairly well but I want to set up a real-world web project (one of my own that I've been planning for quite some time now) as a learning object. I learn best by example, but example-based documentation is a bit sparse for Kohana 3 right now - they say so themselves on the site. While I'm not worried about getting into the framework soon enough, I'm a bit concerned about arranging a healthily structured code base from the start - i.e. how to split up controllers, how to name them, and how to separate the functionality into the appropriate models. My application could, in its core, be described as a business directory with a main businesses table. Businesses can be listed by category and by street name. Each business has a detail page. Business owners can log in and edit their business's entry. Businesses can post offers into an offers table. I know this is pretty vague, but I don't want to cram too much information into this question. I'll be more than happy to go into more detail if needed. Supposing I have all the basic functionality worked out and in place already - list all businesses, edit business, list businesses by street name, create offer, and so on, and I'm just looking for how to fit the functionality into a MVC pattern and into a Kohana application structure that can be easily extended: Do you know real-life, publicly accessible examples of "database-heavy" applications like directories, online communities... with a log-in area built on Kohana 3 where I could take a peek how they do it? Are there conventions or best practices on how to structure an extendable login area for end users in a Kohana project that is not only able to handle a business directory page, but further products on separate pages as well? Do you know application structuring HOWTOs or best practices for Kohana 3 not mentioned in the user guide and the inofficial Wiki? Have you built something similar and could give me some recommendations?

  • curl multipart/form-data help

    - by user253530
    Hi am trying to post some data on a website using CURL. The posting process has 3 steps. 1. enter a URL, submit and get to the 2nd step with some fields already completed 2. submit again, after you entered some more data and preview the form. 3. submit the final data. The problem is that after the second step, the form data looks like this POSTDATA =-----------------------------12249266671528 Content-Disposition: form-data; name="title" Filme 2010, filme 2009, filme noi, programe TV, program cinema, premiere cinema, trailere filme - CineMagia.ro -----------------------------12249266671528 Content-Disposition: form-data; name="category" 3 -----------------------------12249266671528 Content-Disposition: form-data; name="tags" filme, programe tv, program cinema -----------------------------12249266671528 Content-Disposition: form-data; name="bodytext" Filme 2010, filme 2009, filme noi, programe TV, program cinema, premiere cinema, trailere filme -----------------------------12249266671528 Content-Disposition: form-data; name="trackback" -----------------------------12249266671528 Content-Disposition: form-data; name="url" http://cinemagia.ro -----------------------------12249266671528 Content-Disposition: form-data; name="phase" 2 -----------------------------12249266671528 Content-Disposition: form-data; name="randkey" 9510520 -----------------------------12249266671528 Content-Disposition: form-data; name="id" 17753 -----------------------------12249266671528-- I am stuck trying to devise an algorithm that will generate this kind of POST data for the second step. Just to mention the URL of the form never changes. It is always: http://www.xxx.com/submit. There is only a hidden input called "phase" that changes according to the step i am currently on (phase = 1, phase = 2, phase = 3). Any help, be it either code, pseudo-code or just guidance would be greatly appreciated. My code so far: function postBlvsocialbookmarkingcom($curl,$vars) { extract($vars); $baseUrl = "http://www.blv-socialbookmarking.com/"; //step 1: login $curl->setRedirect(); $page = $curl->post ($baseUrl.'login.php?return=/index.php', array ('username' => $username, 'password' => $password, 'processlogin' => '1', 'return' => '/index.php')); if ($err = $curl->getError ()) { return $err; } //post step 1---- //get random key $page = $curl->post($baseUrl.'/submit', array()); $randomKey = explode('<input type="hidden" name="randkey" value="',$page); $randKey = explode('"',$randomKey[1]); //------------------------------------- $page = $curl->post($baseUrl.'/submit', array('url'=>$address,'phase'=>'1','randkey'=>$randKey[0],'id'=>'c_1')); if ($err = $curl->getError ()) { return $err; } //echo $page; // //post step 2 $page = $curl->post ($baseUrl.'/submit', array ('title' => $title, 'category'=>'1', 'tags' => $tags, 'bodytext' => $description, 'phase' => '2')); if ($err = $curl->getError ()) { return $err; } echo $page; //post step 3 $page = $curl->post ($baseUrl.'/submit', array ('phase' => '3')); if ($err = $curl->getError ()) { return $err; } echo $page; }

  • date_create_from_format equivalent for PHP 5.2 (or lower)

    - by leekelleher
Hi all, I'm working with PHP 5.3 on my local machine and needed to parse a UK date format (dd/mm/yyyy). I found that strtotime didn't work with that date format, so I used date_create_from_format instead - which works great. Now, my problem is that my staging server is running PHP 5.2, and date_create_from_format doesn't work on that version. (It's a shared server, and wouldn't have a clue how to upgrade it to PHP 5.3) So is there a similar function to date_create_from_format that I can use? Bespoke or PHP native? Many thanks, - Lee

  • Extending a singleton class

    - by cakyus
i used to create an instance of a singleton class like this: $Singleton = SingletonClassName::GetInstance(); and for non singleton class: $NonSingleton = new NonSingletonClassName; i think we should not differentiate how we create an instance of a class whether this is a singleton or not. if i look in perception of other class, i don't care whether the class we need a singleton class or not. so, i still not comfortable with how php treat a singleton class. i think and i always want to write: $Singleton = new SingletonClassName; just another non singleton class, is there a solution to this problem ?

  • Zend DB MYSQL Wrapper

    - by Vincent
All, I have a PHP application written in Zend Framework with MVC style. I plan to use Zend_DB to connect to the MySQL database and process queries. I am looking for a wrapper class which makes it easy to use Zend_DB class. This wrapper class will have a constructor that connects to the Mysql db using Zend_DB. It will also have a method to return a singleton instance for each and every db connection made. Something like: $pptDB = PPTDB::getInstance(); $pptDB->setFetchMode(PPTDB::FETCH_OBJ); $result = $pptDB->fetchRow('SELECT * FROM bugs WHERE bug_id = 2'); echo $result->bug_description; Where class PPTDB extends Zend_DB Is this something feasible to have? If not, how ls would you use Zend_DB in a major application? Thanks,
