    Is there a way for me to review cpu or memory usage on my ubuntu linux server? I've noticed my server (lamp set up) being slow at times, but by the time I log in as root and run a PS command, everything may have returned to normal. It would be great to review a log of what resources different parts of the server consumed.

  • Give the path to the inserted USB key to a script

    I'd like to run a given Perl script whenever I connect my camera to my PC, so that this script will download all the photos on it. But as the drive letter for the camera may change depending on what's already connected, I need to pass this drive letter as an argument to the script. Is this doable? Thanks.     Is it possible to assign different background images to tabs in Conemu? Console2 supports custom backgrounds per tab, and I'd like something similar to the functionality it provides. Perhaps I can set this in Startup - Tasks or via the command line of a running tab, but I can't find any information on it. e.g. Tab1 cmd "cmd.png" Tab2 powershell "ps.png" Tab3 Visual Studio Command Prompt "vs.png" Tab4 Admin:cmd "warning.png"

  • How can I restore programs that were sent to the background (Ubuntu)

    I was fooling around with my dual display setup (turned on my second monitor is almost all) and a handful of programs that were running seem not to be available anymore. Thunderbird, Gvim, Tomboy ps shows them, but I can't see them. Can't cycle to them with alt-tab. They aren't just in some other window. I'm not even sure how to start figuring out where everything went. Ideas?

    I'm gonna spec a new computer, used for running VMWare Worksation. The computer will be running a few virtual machines - A dev machine running VS-2010, a build machine, a version-control machine, a web server for testing, a "personal" machine running office etc. Any suggestions? Processor, MB, disks etc? (P.S. The only item I AM sure of is that the machine will be using a Xonar Essence Stx, connected to my NAND amplifier ;-)

    I have a process on my Mac OS X system which is in state E ("The process is trying to exit."): % ps auwwwxc | grep -si JavaApplicationS sbwoodside 84547 0.0 0.0 0 0 ?? E Mon12am 0:00.00 (JavaApplicationS) kill -9 84547 does nothing. Is there any special trick to get this process to exit? It's holding some ports open that I would like it to let go of.

    My client is hosting many WordPress blogs. I checked system load with "ps -ef | grep -i php" (because the server is hosting domains for clients using SuPHP and cpanel) and I see many of the blogs have wp-cron.php in memory, sometimes several of the same domain running several copies of wp-cron.php. Is this wp-cron.php loaded so much a normal thing with WordPress? Or is it a misconfiguration?

    I have this situation: the drummer records the track (8 tracks in a multitrack session). Now, how do I check how distant are the recorded beats from their theoretical position i.e.: there is always some error in human recorded tracks, but is there any software that can show me the ideal (theoretical, quantized) beat and the recorded one and could alert me if the error is too big. P.S.: I'm searching for a standalone tool, or for a plugin that can work with Adobe Audition 3 or Nuendo 3.
