  • Is it possible to cut down the size of Flex 4 deployments?

    My bin-release for a very simple Web project using Flex 4 is weighing in at 1.5MB. 40% of that is taken up by one single file which is over 600K all by itself. Here are the files that take up most of the volume: framework_4.0.0.14159.swz 608KB spark_4.0.0.14159.swz 311KB textLayout_1.0.0.595.swz 153KB There are others as well, but this is over a megabyte right there. All this was fine when I was writing components for a large Flex application, but now I need to do widgets on an HTML page using a CMS. Are all these files really necessary to deploy? Are there things I can do to cut down the weight?

  • Apache Bad Request "Size of a request header field exceeds server limit" with Kerberos SSO

    I'm setting up an SSO for Active Directory users through a website that runs on an Apache (Apache2 on SLES 11.1), and when testing with Firefox it all works fine. But when I try to open the website in Internet Explorer 8 (Windows 7), all I get is "Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Size of a request header field exceeds server limit. So I did some googling on this error and saw the suggestion to try shrinking my other dbs to free up some space. So I did so on the 4.1gb db and now when I go to 'properties' for that db it says it is taking/using ~2.4gb. So I should have space now I figure, but whenever I try to restore the ~250mb database now I still get the error message above.. I tried restarting as well but that wasn't helpful. Any idea what the issue is?

  • ixgbe driver: Limit the max number of cores

    I have a Linux workstation with 48 cores and runs ixgbe driver for fiber interface. And I have to test a project name Netmap on it. NetMap is a high performance network framework for high speed interfaces, which has been ported to Linux recently. For some reasons, I must try it on the machine. So I compile it and follow the instructions to run the test problems, but it doesn't work. I check dmesg and it says: [10399.085736] 794.159015 netmap_set_ringid [486] ringid o4o1 set to all 48 HW RINGS [10399.085742] 794.282011 netmap_obj_malloc [220] netmap_if request size 816 too large I asked the author of netmap for help. He told me that I have too many cores in the machine and it should work if I tell ixgbe use less cores (2 to 4 is ok). I am not familiar to driver development and I don't know how to limit the ring numbers by passing arguments to ixgbe driver. So I check the spec from intel's website but found nothing about it. So I come here for more helps. Thank you.

  • SBS 2008 Sharepoint Database good Memory Limit.

    I manage a small network running on Small Business Server 2008. Lately, the Sharepoint embedded database is getting out of control with its memory usage. I've got a total of 16 GB of RAM on this server, and the Sharepoint database sometimes uses almost 8 GB of RAM. This never happened before, and it started happening after I installed Backup Exec 2010. It happens after a backup is performed. So I suspect there is a memory leak involved. I am working on that issue, but this question isn't about that. I would like to limit the amount of memory the Embedded database uses. I know how to do it. My question is, what would be the ideal amount of memory that I can allocate to Sharepoint? There are only 4 users on my network. One of the users uses two computers but not at the same time. They use sharepoint for a company calendar, and sometimes they share files that way also. Let me know if you need to know anything else. Thanks,

    Is it possible to change a itemize font size after including enumitem package? I had: \setbeamerfont{itemize/enumerate body}{size=\small} \setbeamerfont{itemize/enumerate subbody}{size=\scriptsize} \setbeamerfont{itemize/enumerate subsubbody}{size=\scriptsize} but after I included the enumitem package the font size for itemize became default, as far as I see. \usepackage{enumitem} \setlist{label=\tiny\textbullet, leftmargin=1em, labelsep=*, labelwidth=0.2em, noitemsep, labelindent=\parindent, nolistsep} I cannot find anything related in enumitem documentation.

  • the size of apt-get update lists is too big

    I ran a clean install to Ubuntu 12.04 and so far everything has been working well. I especially commend the Ubuntu team for this release. I only noticed that the size of repository update is now about ~13MB. Normally, it is about this size for the first time you run apt-get update after a clean install and then ~ 23kb - 1300kb for subsequent updates. The output from apt-get update is the same I get for previous versions of Ubuntu (its pretty normal). Its a bit too long but look at an example output I got from running apt-get update.   • Applying memory limits to screen sessions

    You can set memory usage limits for standard Linux applications in: /etc/security/limits.conf Unfortunately, I previously thought these limits only apply to user applications and not system services. This means that users can by bypass their limits by launching applications through a system service such as screen. I'd like to know if it's possible to let users use screen but still enforce application limits. Jeff had the great idea of using nohup which obeys user limits (wonderful!), but I would still like to know if it's possible to mimic the useful windowing features of screen. EDIT: It seems my screen sessions are now obeying my hard address space limits defined in /etc/security/limits.conf. I must have been making some mistake. In some software installers, this is available as an option, but in most cases the software just gets installed on all user profiles. I'd like to know if there's a way to prevent that. This will be for computers running Windows XP, Vista, and 7.   • How can I exceed the 60% Memory Limit of IIS7

    Pardon if this is more stackoverflow vs. serverfault. It seems to be on the border. We have an application that caches a large amount of product data for an e-commerce application using ASP.NET caching. This is a dictionary object with 65K elements, and our calculations put the object's size at ~10GB. Problem: The amount of memory the object consumes seems to be far in excess of our 10GB calculation. BIGGEST CONCERN: We can't seem to use over 60% of the 32GB in the server. What we've tried so far: In machine.config/system.web (sf doesn't allow the tags, pardon the formatting): processModel autoConfig="true" memoryLimit="80" In web.config/system.web/caching/cache (sf doesn't allow the tags, pardon the formatting): privateBytesLimit = "20000000000" (and 0, the default of course) percentagePhysicalMemoryUsedLimit = "90" Environment: Windows 2008R2 x64 32GB RAM IIS7 Nothing seems to allow us to exceed the 60% value.   • Launcher icon size and window behavior broken

    I have installed the nvidia driver for my graphic card, just following some tutorials what works fine now. After this I could set the Icon size of the launcher, windows had a nice litte shadow, resolution was better and the windows showed up a nice effect when popping up an or when bringing to full-screen... But today the this was just gone after reboot. What could this be? Nvidia xserver-settings are availible. I installed and reinstalled wine1.5 via the apt-get commands, so this might broke something. What can do to fix this again? Greetings philipp EDIT: I went on searching and all i found was that this problem might be connected to the mode of unit, so there is 2d and 3d, but could also be something else, just because setting the mode brings no change. EDIT 2: the version of Ubuntu is: 12.04 and it is a 64 bit environment the graphic card is: GeForce GT 330M Edit 3: Using maps.google in webGL mode does not work anymore too, it was working yesterday.   • Can I upgrade an Asus M51Sn laptop to 2x4GB of RAM? (DDR2)

    My Asus M51Sn has 2 RAM slots which currently have 1x1GB + 1x2GB DDR2-800 SODimm RAM modules installed. I've found out that 4GB DDR2 SODimm modules do exist, though they are impossible to find in local stores nere here, but I've found them in online stores like these: http://www.pccomponentes.com/g_skill_ddr2_800_pc2_6400_4gb_so_dimm.html They seem to meet the specification, so can I replace both my current modules with 2x4GB modules, and reach a total of 8GB? Or should I worry about some limit (e.g. 4GB max or 2GB per slot) imposed by the matherboard, chipset or whatever? (I currently use Ubuntu 12.04 32 bit, so I plan to use the pae kernel, which supposedly supports 4GB ram on a 32bit system; or I may consider switching tu 64bit ubuntu; the question is about hardware limitations, not OS limitations).

  • Is it possible create a 4TB bootable partition in the x86 edition of Windows Server 2003 Enterprise?

    I'd like to find out if there is any way to accomplish this, since it would benifit my storage server greatly. I am using a Promise FastTrak 8660 and five Seagate ST31000340NS 1TB drives in a RAID 5 array. I figure that if the x86 ENTERPRISE edition of Server 2003 can handle 64GB of RAM, it should have no problem supporting larger HDD volumes as well. I've read (somewhere...) that the Windows Server operating systems are not limited to the standard 2TB like Windows XP and 2000 are. I'm hoping it's something that just needs to be turned on, similar to the way PAE works for the 4GB RAM limit in x86 servers.

  • How are Java ByteBuffer's limit and position variable's updated?

    There are two scenarios: writing and reading Writing: Whenever I write something to the ByteBuffer by calling its put(byte[]) method the position variable is incremented as: current position + size of byte[] and limit stays at the max. If, however, I put the data in a view buffer then I will have to, manually, calculate and update the position Before I call the write(ByteBuffer) method of the channel to write something, I will have to flip() the Bytebuffer so that position points to zero and limit points to the last byte that was written to the ByteBuffer. Reading: Whenever I call the read(ByteBuffer) method of a channel to read something, the position variable stays at 0 and the limit variable of the ByteBuffer points to the last byte that was read. So, if the ByteBuffer is smaller than the file being read, the limit variable is pushed to max This means that the ByteBuffer is already flipped and I can proceed to extracting the values from the ByteBuffer. Please, correct me where I am wrong :)

    I recently bought the wonderfully looking and reviewed Amnesia The Dark Descent and I'm trying to install it. The first time I tried to download it, I had to stop in the middle of the download (may have broken something).   • Video freezes when larger than a certain size

    I have a weird problem playing video files. I have a fairly new (a few years old) graphic card that should and has played up to 1080p video files without much a lot of trouble. I seem to be having a weird issue where the video plays back fine if the window is below a certain size, but as soon as the windowsize increases, the picture freezes. The audio still plays. Usually this is mitigated by killing som applications. Especially GTK (?) apps seem to cause this lag, like having a Nautilus window open usually triggers this error for me. With hardware rendering I get the error regardless of application. I have tried enabling software rendering in VLC and that eliminates the problem (but I get other problems using software rendering, so I've avoided it). I know this is pretty fuzzy, but I'm not sure how to approach this problem. Do you have any idea? EDIT: Some more information. I have the correct and latest drivers installed. My graphics card is a Nvidia 7600 GT.

I have made it so the object will move from one end of the screen to another at a speed depending on the screen size, at the monemt I have made it so it will take one second to pass the screen. So i have worked out the speed in code but when I go to assign the speed it tells me to force close and i do not understand why.   • Host data transfer limit calculations and network protocol headers

    OK, this might be a really stupid question, but... I'm building a web app that utilises websockets. There's fairly rapid messaging going on, so I've been taking a look at the network traffic with wireshark, to see if there's any way of reducing the amount of data we are sending over the wire, and hence costs. A typical message has approx 150 byte data payload, and according to wireshark the lower layer stuff takes up about: Ethernet: 14 bytes IP: 20 Bytes TCP: 20 Bytes My question is, are these network headers included in data transfer calculations? What about TCP ACK messages? (another 54 bytes according to wireshark) This may seem petty, but because we have so much messaging going on, and because the payload is a similar size to these headers, it's significant.

  • IIS Flash Remoting Request Limit introduced with Coldfusion 9

    Hi all We've just been our Coldfusion servers from Enterprise CF 8.01 to CF 9. They are running Win 2008. We ran into trouble on those servers that provide the Flash remoting back-end for a Flex application we provide. Once the CF 9 upgrade was complete we noticed that during busy times when many Flex clients were connecting, we appeared to have a hard limit of 25 Flash Remoting Requests running, despite having much higher limits (in fact 150) set in CF Admin. Initially we thought that this was an issue with the fact that Blaze DS was now bundled with CF 9 (rather than a separate install) so we decided to roll-back the CF 9 installation. This, unfortunately, didn't work and we were still stuck with out hard limit of 25 Flash Remoting requests. Then looking at IIS we noticed that the CF9 ISAPI filter was still installed (after we had ran the Web Service Configuration part of the install). That was removed and the CF 8 one was re-run and all of a sudden the Flash Remoting hard limit disappeared. So it seems that it might have had something to do with the wsconfig of CF 9 (C:\ColdFusion9\runtime\bin\wsconfig.exe) Has anyone else had this problem, or does anybody know of where these hard limits are configured in IIS? Any and all help appreciated!

  • Windows Service Limit Crashes Services on Startup

    We have developed a custom Windows service in C# as part of a large Enterprise application. Our QA department tests multiple versions of this service. The QA lab has several (over 20) copies of this service installed on one Windows 2003 test box. Each copy is in its own folder and has a unique service name, though each executable file is named the same (OurWindowsService.exe, for example). Each service uses the same Windows credentials (a domain user). The purpose of this service is to handle MSMQ messages. The queued messages do all sorts of important stuff. For some reason, they can run only 5 of these services at a time. When we start a 6th, the service crashes on startup. For example, I can start #1, #2, #3, #4, and #5. When I start #6, it crashes. However, if I stop #1 and start #6, #6 runs fine, and now #1 fails to start. When the services crash, the following error appears in the Windows event log: Faulting application OurWindowsService.exe, version 5.40.1.1, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.2.3790.4480, fault address 0x0000bef7. I was able to use WinDbg to generate a postmortem dump file. When you use MongoDB in a 32Bit architecture you have a limit of 2,5Go of data, as mentionned in this MongoDB blog post. The thing is that I have several database. So how can I know if I am close or not to this limit ?
