    I have the following SQL Expression Field in my Crystal Report 11.5 {fn CONCAT({fn CONCAT("SPR_PRODUCT"."PRODUCT_ID","SPR_PRODUCT_SUB_ITEM"."P_SUB_ITEM_ID" )},{fn CONCAT("SPR_PRODUCT_ITEM"."P_ITEM_ID","SPR_PRODUCT_GROUP"."P_GROUP_ID" )} )} It works well in the Preview Mode. But when I use the report in my VB.NET 2008 Project it says the following: Error in compiling SQL Expression : SQL Expressions can not be used in this report.. Error in File <...>.rpt: SQL Expression error: Error in compiling SQL Expression : SQL Expressions can not be used in this report... Please help me by telling how can I use the SQL Expression field in VB.NET ? Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Experts out there, I'm stuck at dll imports with the c++ dll and i really need help to get over this. Here is the function in the c++ dll that i want to call from my VB.net code. bool LoadNewTestPlan(const char* szPlanFileName=" "); I've tried many ways in my VB.net but always getting the error : "Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt." I have tried passing in byte(), Marshalling with LPStr, SafeArray and nothing works.     My problem is actually a bit more complicated than just how to use AES in VB.NET, since what I'm really trying to do is use AES in VB.NET from within a Java application across JACOB. But for now, what I need to focus on is the AES implementation itself. I have been using Query to try to get the values - when I use MsgBox() to display results, they display, but my main Windows Form is Trashed - changed colors, etc. The system has Bugs. Instead, I have to create an elaborate structure of arrays of objects and read the XML line-by-line and do the same for saving - this is the dark ages. Art

    Can someone suggest that out of the two mentioned (odd?) combinations, which is less odd, or in other words, is less trouble to work with + maintain. If it helps, the system is going to have two front-ends - one web application and one desktop application. The desktop application is going to be coded using VB.NET, and the web application in PHP. There's really no reason why the desktop application can't be replaced by a web application as well - except that one of the programmers seem to really want to code it in VB.... However, none of us have experience working with either of these pairs (you could easily call us n00bs), so we are a bit apprehensive to start. P.S. hosting service will be gotten from some provider and not be on the client's own server.

    Hi-- I'm usually a PHP guy but got stuck doing a project in vb.net. I have a query (sqldatasource) that returns a single value (the last update date). I want to use a label to say something like "Last updated: " < Label = (returned value) In PHP this would be simple. In vb.net, all I can find are endless badly written code behinds showing how you'd execute the query onLoad then bind it to the label. Is this really the only way to do this? It seems like a ridiculously simple problem to have such a long solution. I have used a datagrid control to just bind the query result directly, but it prints the column name as well as the date, so it's not ideal. Any ideas?

Similar to Quell it took me only a couple of hours during the evening to complete all levels in the available three realms, unfortunately. God of Light currently consists of 75 levels, well it's 25 in each realm to be precise, and the challenges are increasing. Compared to the iOS version from the AppStore, God of Light is available for free on Android - at least the first realm (25 levels). Unlocking the other two remaining realms is done through an in-app purchase.     C# has the keyword called yield. VB.NET lacks this keyword. I am curious how some of the VB programmers have gotten around the lack of this keyword. Do you implement your own iterator class? Or do you try and code to avoid the need of an iterator? The yield keyword does force the compiler to do some coding behind the scenes. http://blogs.msdn.com/oldnewthing/archive/2008/08/12/8849519.aspx is a good example of that.

  • Recommended method towards making custom maps for a 2d game?

    I am planning on making a 2D game, however different from my last personal projects I want this one to have enhanced graphics, with custom-designed levels. My previous 2d platformers were tile-based, in which I made a map editor for to create levels. However, I am wondering the best way to implement custom designed maps? For say, some grass is a litter higher than others, flowers here and there, cool drawings and structures along the way, etc. instead of just the same old tiles over and over again. I am thinking but I just can't grasp the idea of how to implement it. I have seen it done in other games and am interested to see how they accomplish it, but can't get my hands on some source code. :(

    These days I'm working on a VB.NET application which can be used to edit, compile and run C programs. Can someone tell me how I can call a cl.exe process from within my VB program and also that how do I run the program in the console widow itself. Presently I have only the editor ready. With that one can type in a program and save it with a ".c" extension. Now there are 2 buttons on my form - "Compile" and "Run". When the user clicks on the "Compile" button, the program should be passed to the cl.exe process and the errors should be displayed in another textbox or the DOS(black screen itself). And when the user clicks on the "Run" button, the ".exe" file which just got created should get executed.

  • Subsonic and the VB.net 2005 interop toolkit

    I have an application I am converting over from vb6 to vb.net 2.0/3.5. Using Subsonic 2.2 and the vb.net Interop Toolkit 2005. Cannot seem to get the .net form using subsonic to work inside the interop environment. It keeps saying it cannot find the subsonic service provider in the app.config. But I know it is there. Has anyone used these two toolkits together successfully? Will subsonic even work inside the interop environment in that way? Thanks in advance!
