    I'm just coming out of a .Net course and I'm wondering whether it is possible to create an intranet site using Ruby on Rails, and if so, would it even be a good idea. I plan on creating a web site for a vendor that hopes to open up a physical location and it would be beneficial for us to go with a technology that could tie their web front into their intranet for helping them manage orders and logins, but at the same time still have a low cost.

  • HP Storageworks 448 tape drive input/output error with Ubuntu

    I'm trying to set a backup to tape of a machine using flexbackup. However any attempt to write to the tape drive (via either flexbackup or just tar) results in "/dev/st0: Input/output error" The machine seems to recognise the drive (HP Storageworks Ultrium 448) and that there's a tape in it and "mt status" seems to work...     I am not very experienced with configuring httpd, and I am following a tutorial to view my site w/ domain name under localhost. My localhost just blanks out and my apache services won't restart. I checked all of my paths and they are correct. I am editing the w*indows/system32/drivers/etc/host*s file and my apache httpd file.   • Cisco SA520 to Adtran 1234 no DHCP transfer

    I am trying to set up a Cisco SA520 to run DHCP on my network. I have a vendor provided switch, the Adtran 1234, and it provides DHCP for our phone systems on VLAN 200. I do not have access to the Adtran, but the vendor gave me a IP on port 1 for WAN and said port 2 should be for the "trust" side should go. I did setup a mini lab where, Adtran 1 went to SA520 WAN port, and SA520 trust 1 went to my laptop. Everything worked fine, I could ping and get internet using the DHCP scope I put on the SA520. I then unplugged my computer from SA520 trust 1 and plugged it into Adtran 2. I plugged my computer into Adtran 23 and I dont get DHCP or even a link light. If I restart my machine, I get a brief link and then it dies once the machine boots. I have tried several ports on the Adtran and none seem to work. Different cables as well. However, when I plug a phone into the Adtran, the phone boot immediately and shows link. Thoughts?

    Is it possible to programmatically retrieve the IP or MAC address of a station assigned to a Windows MultiPoint Server 2012 host, using PowerShell or any other .NET or Windows API? Background: I'm developing a application to help set up USB-over-Ethernet zero clients in a WMS 2012 setup, bridging the PowerShell "WmsCmdlets" module (Microsoft.WindowsServerSolutions.MultipointServer.PowerShell.Commands.Library.WmsStation) and a third-party vendor API for configuring zero client IP address, etc. So far, I do not know any means of matching up the "stations" of the WmsCmdlets with the zero client objects in the vendor's API. Finding out the IP or MAC associated with a WMS station would do nicely, since I have this on the zero client API side.     Ihave insatlled ubuntu 10.4 on my compuer with 6 cd drives. Now initiallyi had window server 2008 and i had to install marvel raid sata controller and then my window detected all 6 drives. Now ubuntu is detecting only 3 drives and i have not found marvell drivers for ubuntu bt i have drives for window 2008.     I recently bought a new Mac Book Pro with Mountain Lion 10.8 on it. The only portable mouse I have is my Microsoft Arc Mouse. I wanted to use it with the laptop so I installed the IntelliPoint 8.2 for Mac from Microsofts website. According to their website, this driver is for OS X 10.4-10.7. Now I thought that wouldnt be too much of an issue but unfortunately for me, the driver installs fine and the mouse is detected but I get no movement and when I click the buttons nothing happens. I took the mouse with me on a business trip to EU and before I left I checked if the mouse worked with my desktop which is running Windows 7 and it worked without any hiccups. I'm not too sure where the OS differs from 10.7 to 10.8. I found an article online but it doesn't pertain to my mouse, although it could be of assistance.   • NIC are not advertising Correct Speeds

    I have an IBM x336 that is not advertising the proper LINK speeds. One interface is the other is not. I've tried to Force it to 1000/Full but then it just shows link down. I have confirmed the switch is set to auto negotiate like my switches. I have also changed out my Ethernet Cables. I'm at a loss where to look further. I have verified that it will connect at 1G on a different swtich. This also has happened on two different servers on the same switch.   • 403 with Apache and Symfony on Ubuntu 10.04

    I'm trying to run symfony on my apache installation (I'm using xampp for the whole package) and it keeps giving me a 403 error every time I try to access my website. I've got vhosts set up with the following: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName localhost DocumentRoot "/opt/lampp/htdocs" DirectoryIndex index.php <Directory "/opt/lampp/htdocs"> AllowOverride All Allow from All </Directory> </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName servername.localhost DocumentRoot /home/me/web/server/web DirectoryIndex index.php Alias /sf "/lib/vendor/symfony/data/bin/web/sf" <Directory "/home/me/web/server/web"> AllowOverride All Allow from All </Directory> </VirtualHost> <Directory "/lib/vendor/symfony/data/bin/web/sf"> Allow from All </Directory> I've also added "127.0.0.1 servername.localhost" in my hosts file. When I try to access "servername.localhost" it just gives me a 403 error. I've chmod'd 777 the symfony directory and my website directory in my home directory and used './symfony project:permissions' to let symfony check that permissions are set up correctly but still not result. If I move my website directory into "/opt/lampp/htdocs" then it will serve it from there but still has problems access the symfony stuff such as the debug toolbar. Any help would be appreciated.
