  • Convert Doxygen to XML comments

    We have a C# project which for historical reasons uses both Doxygen and Visual Studio style comments in the same code. Has anyone tried to systematically translate one standard to another, preferably to the common XML subset? I guess it would not be too difficult to write a script to cover the most common features, but I would not like to reinvent the wheel.

    I am using the delete() function from django.contrib.comments.views.moderation module. The staff-member is allowed to delete ANY comment posts, which is completely fine. However, I would also like to give registered non-staff members the privilege to delete their OWN comment posts, and their OWN only. How can I accomplish this?

  • trouble backing up large mysql database

    I have a wordpress MU database with something like 10,000+ tables for various user's blogs. I need to upgrade wordpress MU to newest version, but want to backup the DB before hand. PHPMyAdmin fails to even load the page when i click export. Ive tried going into the server (windows) and using dos command line: mysqldump -u USERNAME -p PASSWORD> BACKUP.sql but it hangs for a minute and gives me the error: error 23: out of resources when opinging file '.\USERNAME\wp_1037_links.MYD' (Errorcode: 24) when using LOCK Tables What am i doing wrong, or should i be doing? Is PHPMyAdmin right for something this size? Is there a better way of doing this than the two methods i tried? **Note that this is not my site, so any suggestions as to the setup of the DB ill have to run by the owner. Im just here for WP related crap, this is kind of out of scope for what i was brought on to do.

    I plan on building a gallery/exhibition event site. so Locations are usually always the same an fall into 3 categorys (gallery, offspace, institution). then there is the Exhibition title the date and the participating artists. So I was wondering if Wordpress could handle such a site. it should be very data driving though, so all the information is in a list view on one site and can be ordered and queryed (which artists took part in which exhibitions and so on) Please tell me the cons and pros of using Wordpress for such a site and problems I could run into if I might plan to broaden the scope later on. thanks!

    Is there a blog of preference for SEO, when it comes down to Drupal websites. I ask as WordPress seems to have the better plug-ins, though may not integrate as well. Any thoughts on this? I am asking from primarily a SEO perspective though also a design one as well. In other words, there are so many fabulous blog templates in WordPress and not sure if there are in Drupal. I seem to be having a struggle finding Drupal blogs to purchase, such as premium blogs.

  • How do I recover a site after WordPress' Automatic Update has failed?

    I manage several WordPress websites, and successfully recently used the Automatic Upgrade feature to bring them up to 3.1. However, on one of the sites, I received a 503 (I believe it was 503). After that I was presented with "The service is unavailable." whenever I tried to access any page, including the index page, wp-admin, etc. I had similar problems before when a WordPress site got stuck in maintenance mode, and all I needed to do was login via FTP and rename or delete the .maintenance file. I tried that in this case, but that didn't do the trick. I am now presented with "Fatal error: Call to undefined function require_wp_db() in **\wp-settings.php on line 71" I can't figure out how to fix this problem, and I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas. Any suggestions are appreciated! Thank you for reading.

  • How does one redirect from one wordpress page to another via htaccess?

    I tried making the following change to my wordpress site to permanently redirect a common link to a new page. I could've -sworn- that this used to work. But it simply does not (at least in WP 3.9). I have had to resort to using a Redirect Plug-In. I'm wondering -why- it doesn't work and if there is a technique which -will- work. I'd prefer to continue to use .htaccess for simplicity.   • All comments get marked as spam regardless (Wordpress MU)

    Everyone (besides me) who comments on another persons blog gets marked as spam when they comment on other peoples blogs. When they comment on their own its fine. Might be related, I've installed reCaptcha and have disabled it for logged in users yet everyone who is logged in still sees it, I don't, and incidentally my comments don't get marked as spam. I don't have akismet or hashcash or any other form of spam filtering turned out (with the exception of super captcha for registration). Any idea what's wrong or where I should look first?

    So here's the scenario, I'm building a theme that would display sub category of a parent post for Food: [Food] -Hotdog -Eggs -Fries for Toys: [Toys] -Doll -Car -Drums for People: [People] -Mom -Dad -Uncle now I don't want to display their parent category, just their subcategory (eg Doll, Car, Drums). I've looked list_cats() and wp_list_categories() but I can't figure out how to display it right. Thanks!

    I have a little dilemma. I wrote a custom PHP MVC framework and built a CMS on top of it. I decided to give nginx+fpm a whirl too. Which is the root of my dilemma. I was asked to incorporate a wordpress blog into my website (yah.) It has much content and it's not feasible in the short amount of time I have to bring all the content into my CMS. Because of using Apache for years, I'm, admittedly, a little lost using nginx.   • Do comments slow down an interpreted language?

    I am asking this because I use Python, but it could apply to other interpreted languages as well (ruby, php). Whenever I leave a comment in my code, is it slowing down the interpreter? My limited understanding of an interpreter is that it reads program expressions in as strings and converts those strings into code. It seems that every time it parses a comment, that is wasted time. Is this the case? Is there some convention for comments in interpreted languages, or is the effect negligible?

    Has anyone seen an editor/IDE that shows WYSIWYG comments inside the code? I have seen some that show the docs of an element in a separated tab/windows, but not together with code. For example, a JavaDoc comment would be much clearer and easier to edit if it had no tags and could be edited like a snippet from a normal text document. /** * Writes <code>Hello world!</code> to the <b>standard output</b>. * @seealso showGoodbye */ public static void showHello() { Could be something like this: /* Writes Hello world! to the standard output.   • Django comments form validation, check if the comment is from authenticated user

    I wanted to add reCaptcha to the comment form, but only for non-authenticated users. I've created my own comments app, using reCaptcha more or less according to this post, except that I don't have any (explicit) view function to post the comment, but instead I check captcha as a part of form validation process. Everything works fine so far. Now, how do I disable reCaptcha for a logged in user? Removing all reCaptcha-related fields in the template is no problem, but how do I validate the form, not checking captcha if the comment if from an authenticated user? Alternatively, is there a way to use two different comment form classes, depending on whether the user is authenticated or not?
