  • Good IE6,IE7 simulator applications?

    I have IE8 installed, I would like to test websites in IE6 and IE7. I cannot use Adobe's BrowserLab to test because the website needing tests contains dynamic content. I cannot find a good application to simulate IE6 or 7. Is one available/recommended? Or can I install and run IE6 through 8 on my machine at the same time?

  • Can I compile Passenger (mod_rails/mod_rack) to make a statically linked Apache httpd?

    I prefer to disable httpd dynamic module loading on my production server. I've been using mod_jk linked statically into httpd for quite a long time and it proved to be stable. Now I would like to add Ruby Passenger (mod_rails/mod_rack) to my httpd. I wonder if it is possible to link it statically into Apache httpd the same way too? (without producing a huge httpd) If it is, are there any potential pitfalls, safety or performance concerns having both mod_jk and mod_rails within the same executable? Thanks

    Recently I've become very interested in setting up a fileserver, mostly for home usage but also because of the fact that I live in 2 places, I need to be able to access my files from both homes. I have already done some research into this but I am unclear about some things. My requirements are the following; Needs to work on both Mac and PC(only using Windows atm on PC but could be good if it supports more OS's to make it futureproof in case I need Linux or something else) Need to be able to set up a folder/drive/network space to act as a link to a certain folder on the fileserver All files should only be stored on the fileserver, e.g. no "shared" folders like in Dropbox where files are stored on the client computer Would prefer it if folders are password protected or that I can somehow specify what users can access the fileserver's shares Fileserver's OS most likely have to be Windows due to other factors outside of being just a fileserver I've already kinda figured out that I will need to set up a VPN so that I can access my fileserver from outside the local network. Probably going to use OpenVPN. Question 1: How would I go about to set up a VPN server so that I can connect to my local network at the fileserver's location? I know that since I'm on a dynamic IP I will have to get some sort of dynamic DNS server - I've already checked into this and I'm fairly sure I know how to fix that. I also know that I will have to forward the port OpenVPN uses in my router. Question 2: How would I actually share the folders on the fileserver so that I can access them on my other computers? I've researched into Samba but I'm uncertain if it needs to be run on a Linux OS. I know that the clients connecting to it can be Windows for example but can the Samba "server" be run on Windows? Also it appears that Samba shares a folder, meaning it works like Dropbox - I don't want that. So how would I share a folder in that case to make it work like I want it to?   • DNSBL listed at zen.spamhaus.org - cant get outgoing mail working? Am I interpreting the response correctly?

    I have problem with a mailserver and there is something I kind of not understand! I can connect, authenticate, specify the sender address - but when specifying the reciever i get a error 550 which looks like so: RCPT TO:[email protected] 550-DNSBL listed at zen.spamhaus.org 550 http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=62.178.15.161 Now the strange thing is that 62.178.15.161 is my local client address. Not the servers ip address. Also the error code 550 seems to be defined as so: 550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable To me that makes totally no sense. Why this error code with this spamhaus message? Why the local ip adress and not the servers? There is exim running and there is nothing turning up in the logs mail.err mail.info mail.log mail.warn in /var/log I looked up both the servers and the clients ip adress on blacklists. The clients ip adress is listed on some (as expected), but the server is totally clean. Here is the complete telnet log when I reproduced the error. So it really looks like the server does check the IP wich establiches the connection is in some blacklist. This is theoretically a good thing - but - the authentication on the server should prevent that? Or shouldn't it? Well I just think it would be absurd if I couldn't send email over my smtp server from my dynamic ISP connection because the dynamic is listed, altough i have a clean server with login?

    I'd like to setup the guest account with easy access to a particular web site, but cannot figure out how to change the default. In 10.5.8 the parental controls can be used to control the list of bookmarks, but I haven't seen any reference to the home page. And when logged in as Guest, the home page settings are read-only, even if you enter an administrator password. How can the Safari home page be changed (and be made persistent) for the OSX Guest account?

    once in a while, the screen brightness stops responding to any reason, and stays on full brightness.. for those of you that have HP Envy, you know what this means... battery suicide. the FN+* controls don't work. i also tried going in to power settings and adjusting all modes brightness to low wend of spectrum, after saving, it has no effect.. i suppose i could try rebooting as i always just put my laptop to sleep :/ anyone came across this ?

    Part of my SPF record contains: include:google.com I'm still getting soft fail because the actual e-mail is delivered by the following Received: from mail-yx0-f172.google.com (mail-yx0-f172.google.com [209.85.213.172] Which has a completely different IP from google.com. However I don't want to put in mail-yx0-f172.google.com because it might be dynamic. Is there some equivalent of *.google.com that I can use in the record

Though it connects to the wi-fi network however a control-less windows gets stuck in the middle of the my win7 desktop screen and does not goes off. I have dynamic ip address setup All the time after system bootup, I need to do the following command to make mtu setting take effect. sudo ifconfig eth0 mtu 1492 Are there any way I can set it up using startup program. I have come across a Windows XP machine that is sending unwanted p2p traffic. I have done a 'netstat -b' command and explorer.exe is sending out the traffic. I have looked in Windows firewall and it shouldn't be letting this traffic through. I have had a look into the messages explorer.exe is sending in Spy++ and the only related ones I can see are socket connections etc... My question is what can I do to look into this deeper? What does malware achieve by sending p2p traffic? I know to fix the problem the easiest way is to reinstall Windows but I want to get to the bottom of it first, just out of interest. Edit: Had a look at Deoendency Walker and Process Explorer. Both great tools.   • Win'08 - Extend volume size on SAN attached storage in a failover cluster

    Running Win 2008, I'd like to extend the volume of a SAN attached drive that is part of a failover cluster. The SAN team has allocated additional drive space which is being seen by Windows Storage Manager. However, the option to "Extend Volume" is disabled, so is the ability to turn it into a dynamic disk. Is the ability to extend volumes when part of a failover cluster disabled or not available when it's part of SAN attached storage?
