• How to limit the number of connections to a SQL Server server from my tomcat deployed java applicati

  I have an application that is deployed on tomcat on server A and sends queries to a huge variety of SQL Server databases on an server B. I am concerned that my application could overload this SQL Server database server and would like some way to preventing it making requests to connect to any database on that server if some arbitrary number of connections were already in existence and unclosed. I am looking at using connection pooling but am under the impression that this will only pool connections to a specific database on the SQL Server server, I want to control the total of these combined connections that will occur to many different databases (incidentally I can only find out the names of individual db's dynamically as they change day to day). Will connection pooling take care of this for me, are am I looking at this from the wrong perspective? I have no access to the configuration of the SQL Server server. Links to tutorials or working examples of your suggested solution are most welcome!

  I have a data view webpart of some other list on my Dispform.aspx page. I have added edit and create new links in it. Create new item link is workin fine but when I m clicking on edit, its showing me error: No item exist at http:....listname/Dispform.aspx?ID=1&Source=http://...listname/Allitems.aspx. It may have been deleted or renamed by other user. I found this post related to it. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointcustomization/thread/e368d7c7-8878-4f74-a62b-9ebad50c6b9a But now in my case the problem is I don't wanna customize Allitems.aspx, and what I have understood in the above post guys have suggested that to change the query string.I can only customize DispForm.aspx. Now the query string which is passing by default is ID=@ID from Allitems.aspx to DispForm.aspx...and I have to use this ID query string variable in my parameter if I m passing it on to the next page.   I have a general question about the design of JavaScript Libraries. I am trying to consolidate common methods into one js file so they can be reused by different scripts. I have taken a look at how the JSON library is structured and believe it was a good approach. JSON for Javascript. So they start off creating an instance of the class: if (!this.JSON) { this.JSON = {}; } Then they do this: (function () { if (typeof JSON.stringify !== 'function') { JSON.stringify = function (value, replacer, space) { This is works perfect if you just want to do JSON.[function_name], but what if I want to have a more structured library such that I want: JSON.[subgroup].[function]. • Is window.location.href = 'some_page.html' followed by search engines?

  Currently our website uses links to allow the user to change their locale. The problem with this is that you get a lot of random outlinks from each page on the site to... the same page, in other languages. When a search engine traverses this, it gets an excessively complex view of the site. We were going to change it to a form post to avoid this. However, it seems to me that we should just be able to change it to an onclick="window.location.href='change_my_language.php'" rather than an href="change_my_language.php". Am I right? Or do the major search engines scan for and follow this sort of thing nowadays?

• Image gallery with a Lightbox in jQuery

  Hi. I'd like to create a jQuery image gallery of showcased products. It will show one product image at a time, with Next/Previous arrows, and a brief name and price as overlay on the image. If users click it, it will go to the order page. It will have an icon to show a larger, modal version (Lightbox style) of the image with full description, price, and a link to a page to order it. In other words, it's an inline gallery, about 250px X 150px, with next/previous option, but also with a little icon to fire it up in a lightbox type modal window that can have links. Here's an example which doesn't have the inline gallery effect. Here's another, also missing the inline gallery. Is there such a beast as what I'm looking for? Thanks.

• Nothing displaying for Drupal main menu

  I'm trying to output the main_menu in to a custom theme on the page.tpl.php template however nothing is displaying when I add <?php print theme("links", $main_menu) ?> However when I do a var_dump on the $main_menu I get array(2) { ["menu-218"]=> array(2) { ["href"]=> string(7) "" ["title"]=> string(4) "Home" } ["menu-335"]=> array(2) { ["href"]=> string(6) "node/1" ["title"]=> string(4) "Home" } } What might I be doing wrong? I'm new to Drupal so be kind please :D

• change the return of to_param by action? or, terribly broken edit action if perma-url is returned in

  I did some stuff to have to_param return a perma-url so I'd have seo friendly links. Upon creation and update it will generate and return the perma-url in a to_param method that I put in the model. However this causing me some grief in other areas. I have a form that looks like this: <% @apps.each do |app| %> <% fields_for "[id][]", app do |fields| %> .... this fails terribly since it tries to insert the perma-url in place of the id. If I could just restrict to_param by action, that could solve things. If I change app to app.id, that fails since I have stuff like this: fields.check_box :is_featured . I suppose I could get the app instance, but that feels hacky. Again please excuse my lack of rails-foo ;)

  I am working on a page where part of the content is loaded normally and the pages are rendered using jsps. The product images and links generated on that page are by custom jstl tags. When the user scrolls more products are requested from the server in a JSON response and then using UnderscoreJS templates they are rendered and added to the bottom of the page. Is there any way I can use the JSTL tags in Javascript without recreating them using a javascript function (it won't be possible to re-create all of them in javascript). What is the best way to handle this scenario? I guess I could return a rendered html response for the ajax call, but that would mean I have some ajax requests which use json and some that use rendered html...

• Why can't I use relative URLs with IE7?

  Hello everyone. I've been Googling for a while and can't seem to find an answer to this question. My problem is as follows: For my jquery, I need my links to be relative rather than absolute. My PHP is set to return relative urls and everything is working fine, until I test it in IE7. For some reason, IE7 keeps changing my relative urls to abosulute, which breaks my js script. Is this normal? Is there a way to get around it? For example: IE8, Chrome, Firefox, Safari etc - <a href='/page' onclick='click_handler(this);return false;'>clicky</a> IE7 - <a href='http://www.myurl.com/page' onclick='click_handler(this);return false;'>clicky</a>

• Periods in URL causes ColdFusion error

  I am currently having issues with users (or bots, not sure) visiting non-existent links that have three periods in a sub-directory. For example, if someone goes to: http://www.example.com/.../test/index.cfm? Then I receive the following error: String index out of range: -1 null The error occurred on line -1. I have tested it with just 1 period and just 2 periods and it goes straight to a 404 error. Any link though that has 3 or more periods will cause this error. My question is what can I do to stop this from happening? My thoughts are to send them to a 404 error page or redirect them. How could I do that? I am running ColdFusion 8.0.1 on Microsoft-IIS/7.0. Thanks!

  Don't worry, I'm not going to ask that question, yet again... I am wanting to create my own programming language, just for learning sake. I don't want anything other than possibly a few links to head me into the right direction. MSDN Documentation on C# that is specific to what is required to create a language would be great! For the time being, all I am wanting to create is a very simple language that allows me to Create a Form, add a control to it, give that control a location, and maybe even some properties like a Text property, or maybe even a Color property.   A 3rd party site sends its notifications after my web application has completed some action in order to notify me of its succes. Receiving a notification item requires a response back to the 3rd party server (URL) with the a containing the value "accepted". I have never user SOAP and with the basic info found I'm a bit lost for the case of asp.net mvc. Are there any good links showing the principle of receiving and sending SOAP responses? Tutorials / information may be presented in other languages such as java, asp.net (classic) or something. I need to get a general idea since googling on SOAP is not giving me anything for the past few hours. thanks in advance.

  Hi, I have a page that dynamically links to a document that opens in a new page (the document is stored in a database as binary data and I loaded using the following code: Response.ClearContent() Response.ContentType = myReader("MIMEType").ToString() Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "inline; filename=" & myReader("Filename")) Response.BinaryWrite(myReader("DocBD")) Response.End() This works ok. However some documents have restricted access and before loading the document the user is redirected to a login page. After entering username and passowrd the document is loaded. If it is a pdf file for example, it loads in the same login page, but when it is a word or excel document it opens outside the browser window and the login page remains in the background. Is ther a way to force a word or excel document to open inside the browser window? Many thanks.

  In my current project we have a notification system. When an oject is added to another objects collection, an email is sent to those who are subscibed to the parent object. This happens on the object layer and not in the View or Controller. Here's the problem: Although we can say who created what with what information in the email, we cannot embed links to those objects in the email because in the object layer there is no access to a UrlHelper. To construct a UrlHelper you need a RequestContext, which again does not exist on the object layer. Question: I want to make a helper class to create the url's for me. How can I create an object that will generate these urls without a request context? Is it possible?

  I want to get a notification if someone has performed an action in an android app from outside of the app. I don't want to make any (android) code changes. To do the actions I use the Chimpchat.jar, the .jar that the monkeyrunner tool uses. To be clear: Can I get a notification or register listeners on components from outside of the app? e.g. Run my android app My java application links into the device with chimpChat via the adb The user touches a button My java application gets a notification what was performed = am I able to get that information?   We implemented the online service where it is possible to generate PDF with predefined structure. User can choose a LaTeX template and then compile it with an appropriate inputs. The question we worry about is the security, that the malicious user was not able to gain shell access through the injection of special instruction into latex document. We need some workaround for this or at least a list of special characters that we should strip from the input data. Preferred language would be PHP, but any suggestions, constructions and links are very welcomed. PS. in few word we're looking form mysql_real_escape_string for LaTeX

  I am designing a site where external links form various are being shown on my page. I am using $url=$_GET['url']; $website_data = file_get_contents($url); echo $website_data; so essentially a user would click on a hyperlink which is something like www.test.com/display_page.php?url=http://www.xyz.com/article/2.jpg My page, list_of_images.php, typically has a list of images with href for each image as above on the page and when any image is clicked it would go to display_page.php, which would show our banner on the top of this page, some text and then this image beneath that. This image could be from any website. I am currently sending the url directly and grabbing it using GET. I understand that users/hackers can actually do some coding and send commands for the url variable and could break the server or do something harmful and so i would like to avoid this method or sending the url directly in the header. what is the alternate approach for this problem?

One of reason for reading is following problem. Class Branch { //lazy loaded @joincolumn(name="company_id") Company company; } Since company is heavy object so it is lazy loaded. now i have hql query "from Branch as branch where branch.Company.id=:companyId" my concern is that if for firing above query, hql engine has to retrieve company object then its a performance hit and i would prefer to add one more property in Branch class i.e. companyId. So in this case hql query would be "from Branch as branch where branch.companyId=:companyId" If hql engine first generate sql from hql followed by firing of sql query itself, then there should be no performance issue. Please let me know if problem is not understandable.

Being new to this I have a few questions. 1) What is the best way to build the webservice? 2) How do I connect to the database with weblogic. 3) Is there a way to cache the data returned so that the next request for the same data is pulled from cache?   My program is written in C++, using GCC on Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit. If depends on /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6 which actually points to /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6.0.13. Now I copy this program to virgin Ubuntu 7.04 system and try to run it. It doesn't run, as expected. Then I add to the program directory the following files: libstdc++.so.6.0.13 libstdc++.so.6 (links to libstdc++.so.6.0.13) and execute command: LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. ./myprogram Now everything is OK. The question: how can I write installation script for such program? myprogram file itself should be placed to /usr/local/bin. What can I do with dependencies? For example, on destination computer, /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6 link points to /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6.0.8. What can I do with this? Note: the program is closed-source, I cannot provide source code and makefile.
