  • Problem with Silverlight 3 projects in Web Developer Express 2008

    - by MNT
Hi, I have a strange problem when working with silverlight 3 projects in Web Developer Express 2008. Mainly, I cannot show the design view of a XAML file. Also the XAML files (markup) are shown as plain text files (No Syntax coloring & No Intellisense). However I can write an application that is compiled and run successfully. I have the following installed on my machine: Windows XP SP3 Visual Web Developer Express 2008 SP1 & .NET 3.5 SP1 SL3 Requirements I had a few problems while installing SL3 SDK & Tool for VS. I repeated the process many times until the installation succeeded. The main problem was in the "SL Tools for VS" installation where I used to get an error in the middle. My workaround was to extract the MSI file and manually run the VWDxxx installer from the extracted files. Is this the cause of the problem? Kindly advise as it's impractical to work w/o Intellisense. Thnak you

  • Qt moc failure without an error message

    - by Robert Parker
So I'm pretty new to Qt, and I've just inherited a project from someone else who is also new to Qt. He isn't around this week btw. We are using Visual Studio 2008, and have the latest version of Qt installed(4.6.2). The project builds on my coworker's machine fine, and I can get the project from svn and build it directly. But under any other circumstances it refuses to build on my machine, and it doesn't give me much of an explanation why. Even if I just do a 'build clean' and then a 'build' it doesn't work. Any slight modification will make it fail. When I try to build the entire project I get the error message: 1Moc'ing MatrixTypeInterface.h... 1moc: Cannot create .\GeneratedFiles\Debug\moc_MatrixTypeInterface.cpp;.\GeneratedFiles\Debug\moc_matrixtypeinterface.cpp 1Project : error PRJ0019: A tool returned an error code from "Moc'ing MatrixTypeInterface.h..." The moc tool doesn't give any sort of error message as to why it isn't working, and I wasted most of yesterday trying to figure out why. I got the command that VS was using to call moc, and I entered in the command line myself. It didn't write anything to the screen. Any ideas?

  • Deployment Setup (.Net) - Search target machine -> Registry search (64 bit)

    - by Joonas Kirsebom
I have a windows installer project which installs some software (winform, service, mce addin). During the installation I need to search the machine for a registry key. This is done with with the "Launch Condition" - "Add Registry Search" (Deployment Project). I have filled out all the properties right, and checked against the regestry that the value actually can be found. The problem is that the "Registry Search" searches in the x86 part of the registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\...) although my system is a x64 and the deployment setup is also set to x64. Does anyone know how to force the "Registry Search" to search the x64 registry? Or know about a workaround? The weird thing about this, is that Registry setting in the deployment setup is writing to the right registry (x64). My idea is that the "Registry Search" program is only developed to the x86 architecture, and therefore can't read the right registry. I found this article from microsoft, so it seams that they know about this problem. https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=110105&wa=wsignin1.0#details My system is: Windows 7 64bit Visual Studio 2008

  • Shared classes are build under VS2008 only but not under MSBuild.

    - by Vasiliy Borovyak
We share our classes between silverlight 3.0 client and server as is it described here. Everything works fine under Visual Studio 2008 only. Using msbuild with following command line parameters: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\msbuild.exe FoobarApplication.sln /t:Rebuild /p:Configuration=Release /p:Platform="Any CPU" we get following error: Class1.cs(28,54): error CS0234: The type or namespace name 'WcfService' does not exist in the namespace 'Company.FoobarApplication' (are you missing an assembly reference?) Service References\geoServiceReference1\Reference.cs(24,81): error CS0234: The type or namespace name 'WcfService' does not exist in the namespace 'Company.FoobarApplication' (are you missing an assembly reference?) Done Building Project "C:\work\bov-tmp\FoobarApplication\SilverlightClassLibrary3\SilverlightClassLibrary3.csproj" (Rebuild target(s)) -- FAILED. Done Building Project "C:\work\bov-tmp\FoobarApplication\FoobarApplication.sln" (Rebuild target(s)) -- FAILED. I found exactly the same question here. There are 4 workarounds there, I tried first 3 of them and those did not worked out. The 4-th workaround is not the acceptable solution. Any thoughts how to build the solution?

  • Disable proxy for entire application?

    - by Brent
Ever since upgrading to Visual Studio 2010, I'm running into an issue where the first web request of any type (WebRequest, WebClient, etc.) hangs for about 20 seconds before completing. Subsequent calls work quickly. I've narrowed down the problem to a proxy issue. If I manually disable proxy settings, I don't experience this delay: Dim wrq As WebRequest = WebRequest.Create(Url) wrq.Proxy = Nothing What's strange is that there are no proxy settings enabled on this machine in Internet Options. What I'm wondering is if there is a way to disable proxy settings for my entire project in one shot without explicitly disabling as above for every web object. The main reason I want to be able to do this is that I'm trying to use an API (http://code.google.com/p/google-api-for-dotnet/) which uses web requests, but does not provide any way to manually disable proxy settings. I have found some information suggesting that I need to add some proxy information to the app.config file, but I get errors building my program if I make an edits to that file. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

  • Continuous Integration with 64-bit Sharepoint and TFS 2008?

    - by Hirvox
I've set up a 64-bit TFS 2008 build server with Sharepoint, continuous integration and out-of-the-box MSTest. Unit tests for plain business logic classes run just fine and test results are published into TFS. However, any test that uses Sharepoint's API fails horribly, SPFarm.Local returning null and so on. Is there a way to fix this? The tests run fine in an otherwise identical 32-bit development environment (Windows Server 2008 under Hyper-V, Sharepoint patched up to June 2009 cumulative update) from both Visual Studio and command line, so the problem is not about improper use of SPContext.Current or any other part of the API that needs to be run in a web server context. I've ruled out permissions issues, because the build agent account can deploy the solution and create site collections just fine with stsadm. The next culprit could be that the unit tests were being run with a 32-bit process, which couldn't access the 64-bit Sharepoint API properly. I tried a workaround, but it has the side effect of disabling TFS support in MSTest. Do I have to wait for 2010 versions of MS tools (and hope for the best) or is there a third-party test framework available that runs natively in 64 bit and can publish test results into TFS 2008?

  • Data is not saved in MS Access database

    - by qwerty
    Hello, I have a visual C# project and i'm trying to insert data in a MS Access Database when i press a button. Here is the code: private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { try { OleDbDataAdapter adapter=new OleDbDataAdapter(); adapter.InsertCommand = new OleDbCommand(); adapter.InsertCommand.CommandText = "insert into Candidati values ('" + maskedTextBox1.Text.Trim() + "','" + textBox1.Text.Trim() + "', '" + textBox2.Text.Trim() + "', '" + textBox3.Text.Trim() + "','" + Convert.ToDouble(maskedTextBox2.Text) + "','" + Convert.ToDouble(maskedTextBox3.Text) + "')"; con.Open(); adapter.InsertCommand.Connection = con; adapter.InsertCommand.ExecuteNonQuery(); con.Close(); MessageBox.Show("Inregistrare adaugata cu succes!"); maskedTextBox1.Text = null; maskedTextBox2.Text = null; maskedTextBox3.Text = null; textBox1.Text = null; textBox2.Text = null; textBox3.Text = null; maskedTextBox1.Focus(); } catch (AdmitereException exc) { MessageBox.Show("A aparut o exceptie: "+exc.Message, "Eroare!", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Error); } } The connection string is: private static string connectionString; OleDbConnection con; public AddCandidati() { connectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.JET.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=Admitere.mdb"; con = new OleDbConnection(connectionString); InitializeComponent(); } Where AddCandidati is the form. The data is not saved in the database, why? I have the .mdb file in the project folder.. What i'm doing wrong? I did not got any exception when i press the button.. Thanks!

  • Why won't VS2010 RC use my existing types when I add a service reference?

    - by Johan Driessen
I have a huge problem getting services references in VS2010 RC to use existing assemblies. Even though I have a class library with all the data contracts (classes marked with DataContract and properties with DataMember) that is shared between the service project and the consuming project (which is a class library), when I add a service reference, the data contracts are regenerated withing the service reference instead of using the existing types. When I was using VS2010 beta 2, this worked fine, and I have existing service references using the very same data contracts. But if I add a new service reference, or even update an old one, it won't use the existing types anymore. I have made a mini-test-solution, with one service, one data contract type and one console app as a consumer (all in the same solution), and there it seems to work, but that's no great comfort to me. Is there any way to see why it can't use the existing types? Edit to clearify. It works to generate the proxy classes with svcutil.exe, and point to the data contracts dll, like this: svcutil.exe http://localhost/MyService.svc /reference:[Path To DataContracts]\DataContracts.dll /n:*,MyProject.MyServiceReference /ct:System.Collections.Generic.List`1 The question is, what possible reason could there be for Visual Studio to generate its own datacontracts instead of using the existing ones even though the "reuse" checkbox is checked and the datacontracts assembly is referenced.

  • TFS Solution build cascading to several other builds even when common components were not modified

    - by Bob Palmer
Hey all, here is the issue I am currently trying to work through. We are using Team Foundation Server 2008, and utilizing the automated build support out of the box. We have one very large project that encompasses a number of interrelated components and web sites, each of which is set up as a Visual Studio solution file. Many of these solutions are highly interrelated since they may contain applications, or contain common libraries or shared components. We have roughly 20 or so applications, three large web sites, and about 20 components. Each solution may include projects from other solutions. For example, a solution for a console app would also include the project files for all of the components it utilizes, since we need to ensure that when someone changes a component and rebuilds it, it is reflected in all of the projects that consume that component, and we can make sure nothing was broken. We have build projects for each solution, whether that's an application, component, or web site. For this example, we will call them solutions 01, 02, and 03. These reference multiple projects (both their own core project and test projects, plus the projects relating to various components). Solution 01 has projects A, B, and C. Solution 02 has projects C, D, and E. Solution 03 has projects E, F, and G. Now, for the problem. If I modify project A, the system will end up rebuilding all three solutions. Worse, all thirty solutions reference common projects used for data access (let's call it project H). Because they all share one project in common, if I modify any solution in my stack, even if it does not touch project H, I still end up kicking off every single build script. Any thoughts on how to address this? Ideally I would only want to kick off builds where their constituant projects were directly modified - i.e in the example below, if I modified project C, I would only rebuild solutions 01 and 02. Thanks!

  • MySqlDataReader giving error at build

    - by TuxMeister
Hey there. I have a function in VB.net that authenticates a user towards a MySQL DB before launching the main application. Here's the code of the function: Public Function authConnect() As Boolean Dim dbserver As String Dim dbuser As String Dim dbpass As String dbserver = My.Settings.dbserver.ToString dbuser = My.Settings.dbuser.ToString dbpass = My.Settings.dbpass.ToString conn = New MySqlConnection myConnString = "server=" & dbserver & ";" & "user id=" & dbuser & ";" & "password=" & dbpass & ";" & "database=rtadmin" Dim myCommand As New MySqlCommand Dim myAdapter As New MySqlDataAdapter Dim myData As New DataTable Dim myDataReader As New MySqlDataReader Dim query As String myCommand.Parameters.Add(New MySqlParameter("?Username", login_usr_txt.Text)) myCommand.Parameters.Add(New MySqlParameter("?Password", login_pass_txt.Text)) query = "select * from users where user = ?Username and passwd = ?Password" conn.ConnectionString = myConnString Try conn.Open() Try myCommand.Connection = conn myCommand.CommandText = query myAdapter.SelectCommand = myCommand myDataReader = myCommand.ExecuteReader If myDataReader.HasRows() Then MessageBox.Show("You've been logged in.", "RT Live! Information", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Information) End If Catch ex As Exception End Try Catch ex As Exception End Try End Function The function is not yet complete, there are a few other things that need to be done before launching the application, since I'm using a MessageBox to display the result of the login attempt. The error that I'm getting is the following: Error 1 'MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlDataReader.Friend Sub New(cmd As MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlCommand, statement As MySql.Data.MySqlClient.PreparableStatement, behavior As System.Data.CommandBehavior)' is not accessible in this context because it is 'Friend'. • How to convert a printer driver to a stand-alone console application which can generate a printer fi

    - by Thorbjørn Ravn Andersen
I have a situation where the only way to generate a certain datafile is to print it manually to FILE: under Windows and save it in a file for further processing. I would really like to have a small stand-alone program which embeds this binary printer driver so I can run it from a batch file and have it generate that binary file for me, as we can then fully automate the "save file in Visio, 'print' it and upload it to the final destination and trigger a remote test". Is this possible with a suitable Windows SDK? I am a Java programmer, so I do not know Visual Studio and the possibilities with MSDN - yet! - but I'd appreciate pointers. EDIT: I have the installation files for that printer driver, both 32 and 64 bit. Older versions may include a 16 bit driver. EDIT: The "print to FILE:" functionality is just what was recommended by the documentation. I have played a little bit with using the LPR-protocol to see what it can do. I'd still prefer the "invoke small binary" approach.

  • Using libcurl to create a valid POST

Therefore I'm expecting the buffer to be one or the other, however I seem to only be returning 0 or equivalent. Does the code above look like it will return what I expect or should my variable types be different? The conversion using "atoi" may be an issue. Any thought would be much appreciated.

  • Will IntelliTrace(tm) (historical debugging) be available for unmanaged c++ in future versions of Vi

    - by Tim
I love the idea of historical debugging in VS 2010. However, I am really disappointed that unmanaged C++ is left out. IntelliTrace supports debugging Visual Basic and C# applications that use .NET version 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, or 4. You can debug most applications, including applications that were created by using ASP.NET, Windows Forms, WPF, Windows Workflow, and WCF. IntelliTrace does not support debugging C++, script, or other languages. Debugging of F# applications is supported on an experimental basis. (editorial) [This is really poor support in my opinion. .NET is less in need of this assistance than unmanaged c++. I an getting a little tired of the status of plain old C++ and its second-class status in the MS tools world. Yes, I realize it is probably WAAY easier to implement this with .NET and MS are pushing .NET as the future, and yes, I know that C++ is an "old" language, but that does not diminish the fact that there are lots of C++ apps out there and there will continue to be more apps built with C++. I sincerely hope MS has not dropped C++ as a supported developer tool/language- that would be a shame.] Does anyone know if there are plans for it to support C++?

  • Call to undefined function 'Encrypt' - Attempting to Link OMF Lib

    - by Changeling
I created a DLL using Visual Studio 2005 VC++ and marked a function for export (for testing). I then took the .LIB file created, and ran it through the COFF2OMF converter program bundled with Borland C++ Builder 5 and it returns the following: C:\>coff2omf -v -lib:ms MACEncryption.lib MACEncryption2.lib COFF to OMF Converter Version 1.0.0.74 Copyright (c) 1999, 2000 Inprise Corporat ion Internal name Imported name ------------- ------------- ??0CMACEncryptionApp@@QAE@XZ ?Decrypt@CMACEncryptionApp@@QAEXXZ Encrypt Encrypt@0 I added the MACEncryption2.lib file to my C++ Builder 5 Project by going to Project-Add to Project.. and selecting the library. The application links, but it cannot find the Encrypt function that I am declaring for export as follows in the VC++ code: extern "C" __declspec(dllexport) BSTR* __stdcall Encrypt() { CoInitialize(NULL); EncryptionManager::_EncryptionManagerPtr pDotNetCOMPtr; HRESULT hRes = pDotNetCOMPtr.CreateInstance(EncryptionManager::CLSID_EncryptionManager); if (hRes == S_OK) { BSTR* str = new BSTR; BSTR filePath = (BSTR)"C:\\ICVER001.REQ"; BSTR encrypt = (BSTR)"\"test"; pDotNetCOMPtr->EncryptThirdPartyMessage(filePath, encrypt, str); return str; } return NULL; CoUninitialize (); } C++ Builder Code: __fastcall TForm1::TForm1(TComponent* Owner) : TForm(Owner) { Encrypt(); } (Yes I know I am encapsulating another DLL.. I am doing this for a reason since Borland can't 'see' the .NET DLL definitions) Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong so I can figure out why Builder cannot find the function Encrypt() ?

  • MSTest on x64 C++/CLI

    - by Oyvind
I got a problem using MSTest on x64: The test project depends on a couple of C++/CLI assemblies, and fails to load for some reason. In Visual Studio, I get (stripped down): Error loading D:\xxx\Xxx.Test.dll: Unable to load the test container 'D:\xxx\Xxx.Test.dll' or one of its dependencies. Error details: System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'Common.Geometry.Native, Version=1.1.4574.22395, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. Running MSTest manually in a command prompt, I get: Unable to load the test container 'D:\xxx\Xxx.Test.dll' or one of its dependencies. Error details: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Common.Geometry.Native, Version=1.1.4574.22395, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. Details worth mentioning: The test project itself is compiled using 'Any Cpu'. I use a x64 specific testrunconfig Dependency walker shows no missing native dependencies in the C++/CLI assembly (Common.Geometry.Native) Even more interesting, there is another test project in the same solution using the same C++/CLI assembly (Common.Geometry.Native), and it runs without any problems. I have also verified that there are no 32bit assemblies/dlls interfering. Any suggestions is welcome !

  • Weird behaviour of C++ destructors

    - by Vilx-
#include <iostream> #include <vector> using namespace std; int main() { vector< vector<int> > dp(50000, vector<int>(4, -1)); cout << dp.size(); } This tiny program takes a split second to execute when simply run from the command line. But when run in a debugger, it takes over 8 seconds. Pausing the debugger reveals that it is in the middle of destroying all those vectors. WTF? Note - Visual Studio 2008 SP1, Core 2 Duo 6700 CPU with 2GB of RAM. Added: To clarify, no, I'm not confusing Debug and Release builds. These results are on one and the same .exe, without even any recompiling inbetween. In fact, switching between Debug and Release builds changes nothing.

  • Help decoupling Crystal Report from CrystalReportViewer

    - by John at CashCommons
I'm using Visual Studio 2005 with VB.NET. I have a number of Crystal Reports, each with their own associated dialog resource containing a CrystalReportViewer. The class definitions look like this: Imports System.Windows.Forms Imports CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine Imports CrystalDecisions.Shared Public Class dlgForMyReport Private theReport As New myCrystalReport Public theItems As New List(Of MyItem) Private Sub OK_Button_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles OK_Button.Click Me.DialogResult = System.Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK Me.Close() End Sub Private Sub Cancel_Button_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Cancel_Button.Click Me.DialogResult = System.Windows.Forms.DialogResult.Cancel Me.Close() End Sub Private Sub dlgForMyReport_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load theReport.SetDataSource(theItems) 'Do a bunch of stuff here to set data items in theReport Me.myCrystalReportViewer.ReportSource = theReport End Sub End Class I basically instantiate the dialog, set theItems to the list I want, and call ShowDialog. I now have a need to combine several of these reports into one report (possibly like this) but the code that loads up the fields in the report is in the dialog. How would I go about decoupling the report initialization from the dialog? Thanks!

  • DataGridView not displaying a row after it is created

    - by joslinm
Hi, I'm using Visual Studio 10 and I just created a Database using SQL Server CE. Within it, I made a table CSLDataTable and that automatically created a CSLDataSet & CSLDataTableTableAdapter. The three variables were automatically created in my MainWindow.cs class: cSLDataSet cSLDataTableTableAdapter cSLDataTableBindingSource I have added a DataGridView in my Form called dataGridView and datasource cSLDataTableBindingSource. In my MainWindow(), I tried adding a row as a test: public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); CSLDataSet.CSLDataTableRow row = cSLDataSet.CSLDataTable.NewCSLDataTableRow(); row.File_ = "file"; row.Artist = "artist11"; row.Album = "album"; row.Save_Structure = "save"; row.Sent = false; row.Error = true; row.Release_Format = "release"; row.Bit_Rate = "bitrate.."; row.Year = "year"; row.Physical_Format = "format"; row.Bit_Format = "bitformat"; row.File_Path = "File!!path"; row.Site_Origin = "what"; cSLDataSet.CSLDataTable.Rows.Add(row); cSLDataSet.AcceptChanges(); cSLDataTableTableAdapter.Fill(cSLDataSet.CSLDataTable); cSLDataTableTableAdapter.Update(cSLDataSet); dataGridView.Refresh(); dataGridView.Update(); } In regards to the DataSet methods I tried calling, I had been trying to find a "correct" way to interact with the adapter, dataset, and datatable to successfully show the row, but to no avail. I'm rather new to using SQL Server CE Database, and read a lot of the MSDN sites & thought I was on the right track, but I've had no luck. The DataGridView shows the headers correctly, but that new row does not show up.

  • Automatically add links to class source files under a specified directory of an another project in V

    - by Binary255
I want to share some class source files between two projects in Visual Studio 2008. I can't create a project for the common parts and reference it (see my comment if you are curious to why). I've managed to share some source files, but it could be a lot more neat. I've created a test solution called Commonality. The Solution Explorer of the Commonality solution which contains project One and Two: What I like: All class files under the Common folder of project One are automatically added to project Two by linking. It's mostly the same as if I would have chosen Add / Existing Item... : Add As Link on each new class source file. It's clear that these files have been linked in. The shortcut arrow symbol is marking each file icon. What I do not like: The file and folder tree structure under Common of project One isn't included. It's all flat. The linked source files are shown under the project root of project Two. It would look much less cluttered if they were located under Common like in project One. The file tree structure of the Commonality solution which contains project One and Two: $ tree /F /A Folder PATH listing for volume Cystem Volume serial number is 0713370 1337:F6A4 C:. | Commonality.sln | +---One | | One.cs | | One.csproj | | | +---bin | | \---Debug | | One.vshost.exe | | One.vshost.exe.manifest | | | +---Common | | | Common.cs | | | CommonTwo.cs | | | | | \---SubCommon | | CommonThree.cs | | | +---obj | | \---Debug | | +---Refactor | | \---TempPE | \---Properties | AssemblyInfo.cs | \---Two | Two.cs | Two.csproj | Two.csproj.user | Two.csproj~ | +---bin | \---Debug +---obj | \---Debug | +---Refactor | \---TempPE \---Properties AssemblyInfo.cs And the relevant part of project Two's project file Two.csproj: <ItemGroup> <Compile Include="..\One\Common\**\*.cs"> </Compile> <Compile Include="Two.cs" /> <Compile Include="Properties\AssemblyInfo.cs" /> </ItemGroup> How do I address what I do not like, while keeping what I like?

  • Can I use pdb files to step through a 3rd party assembly?

    - by Pure.Krome
Hi folks, my friend has made a really helpful class library which I use all the time. I usually use Reflector to see what his code does. What I really wanted to do was to step through his code while I'm debugging. So he gave me his .pdb file. Foo.dll (release configuration, compile) Foo.pdb Now, I'm not sure how I can get it to auto break into his code when it throws an exception (his code, at various points, thorws exceptions .. like A first chance exception of type 'System.Web.HttpException' occurred in Foo.dll ... Can I do this? Do i need to setup something with the Symbol Server settings in Visual Studio ? Do i need to get the dll compiled into Debug Configuration and be passed the .dll and .pdb files? Or (and i'm really afraid of this one) .. do i need to have both the .dll, .pdb AND his source code ... I also had a look at this previous SO question, but it sorta didn't help (but proof I've tried to search before asking a question). Can someone help me please?

  • VS2010 Implement Generic Interface expansion doesn't use specified type

    - by TJB
Using the release version of Visual Studio 2010 I think there's a difference in the "Implement Interface" expansion from VS2008 If I speicify an interface and implement it in a class as so: public interface IRepository<T> where T : IModel { T Get<T>(int id); void Update<T>(); int Add<T>(T item); } public class MockRepository : IRepository<MockUser> { // ... } Then use the "Implement Interface" expansion and get this: public class MockRepository : IRepository<MockUser> { public T Get<T>(int id) { throw new NotImplementedException(); } public void Update<T>() { throw new NotImplementedException(); } public int Add<T>(T item) { throw new NotImplementedException(); } } Instead of what I expected public class MockRepository : IRepository<MockUser> { public MockUser Get<MockUser>(int id) { throw new NotImplementedException(); } public void Update<MockUser>() { throw new NotImplementedException(); } public int Add<MockUser>(MockUser item) { throw new NotImplementedException(); } } The IDE uses the type variable name from the generic interface definition T instead of the specified concrete type MockUser. Is this a bug? Or is something new just for VS2010 / .Net 4.0?

I am working (or fixing bugs) on an application which was developed in VS 2005 C#. The application saves data to a SQL server 2005. One of insert SQL statement tries to insert a time-stamp value to a field with GetDate() TSQL function as date time value. Insert into table1 (field1, ... fieldDt) values ('value1', ... GetDate()); The reason to use GetDate() function is that the SQL server may be at a remove site, and the date time may be in a difference time zone. Therefore, GetDate() will always get a date from the server. As the function can be verified in SQL Management Studio, this is what I get: SELECT GetDate(), LEN(GetDate()); -- 2010-06-10 14:04:48.293 19 One thing I realize is that the length is not up to the milliseconds, i.e., 19 is actually for '2010-06-10 14:04:48'. Anyway, the issue I have right now is that after the insert, the fieldDt actually has a date time value up to minutes, for example, '2010-06-10 14:04:00'. I am not sure why. I don't have permission to update or change the table with a trigger to update the field. My question is that how I can use a INSERT T-SQL to add a new row with a date time value ( SQL server's local date time) with a precision up to milliseconds?

  • bad_alloc occuring when allocating small structs

    - by SalamiArmi
A bad_alloc has started showing up in some code which looks perfectly valid to me and has worked very well in the past. The bad alloc only occurs once every 50-3000 iterations of the code, which is also confusing. The code itself is from a singly linked list, simply adding a new element to the queue: template<typename T> struct container { inline container() : next(0) {} container *next; T data; }; void push(const T &data) { container<T> *newQueueMember = new container<T>; //... unrelated to crash } Where T is: struct test { int m[256]; }; Changing the size of the array allocated array to anything but very small values (1-8 ints) still results in a bad_alloc occasionally. A few extra notes about my program: - I used Poco::ThreadPool to thread my program. I've only recently added this functionality, before I had it running with Win32 threads. However, only the main thread ever calls push(). - I am also occasionally getting other crashes which could be related. However, when I try to debug with visual studio 2008, I can't navigate back to the call stack, or the crash happens deep within new(). Thanks in advance.

  • Weird bug with C++ lambda expressions in VS2010

    - by Andrei Tita
In a couple of my projects, the following code: class SmallClass { public: int x1, y1; void TestFunc() { auto BadLambda = [&]() { int g = x1 + 1; //ok int h = y1 + 1; //c2296 int l = static_cast<int>(y1); //c2440 }; int y1_copy = y1; //it works if you create a local copy auto GoodLambda = [&]() { int h = y1_copy + 1; //ok int l = this->y1 + 1; //ok }; } }; generates error C2296: '+' : illegal, left operand has type 'double (__cdecl *)(double)' or alternatively error C2440: 'static_cast' : cannot convert from 'double (__cdecl *)(double)' to 'int' You get the picture. It also happens if catching by value. The error seems to be tied to the member name "y1". It happened in different classes, different projects and with (seemingly) any type for y1; for example, this code: [...] MyClass y1; void TestFunc() { auto BadLambda = [&]()->void { int l = static_cast<int>(y1); //c2440 }; } generates both these errors: error C2440: 'static_cast' : cannot convert from 'MyClass' to 'int' No user-defined-conversion operator available that can perform this conversion, or the operator cannot be called error C2440: 'static_cast' : cannot convert from 'double (__cdecl *)(double)' to 'int' There is no context in which this conversion is possible It didn't, however, happen in a completely new project. I thought maybe it was related to Lua (the projects where I managed to reproduce this bug both used Lua), but I did not manage to reproduce it in a new project linking Lua. It doesn't seem to be a known bug, and I'm at a loss. Any ideas as to why this happens? (I don't need a workaround; there are a few in the code already). Using Visual Studio 2010 Express version 10.0.40219.1 Sp1Rel.

I've got a serializeable class called Cereal with several public fields shown here <Serializable> Public Class Cereal Public id As Integer Public cardType As Type Public attacker As String Public defender As String Public placedOn As String Public attack As Boolean Public placed As Boolean Public played As Boolean Public text As String Public Sub New() End Sub End Class My client computer is sending a new Cereal to the host by serializing it shown here 'sends data to host stream (c1) Private Sub cSendText(ByVal Data As String) Dim bf As New BinaryFormatter Dim c As New Cereal c.text = Data bf.Serialize(mobjClient.GetStream, c) End Sub The host listens to the stream for activity and when something gets put on it, it is supposed to deserialize it to a new Cereal shown here 'accepts data sent from the client, raised when data on host stream (c2) Private Sub DoReceive(ByVal ar As IAsyncResult) Dim intCount As Integer Try 'find how many byte is data SyncLock mobjClient.GetStream intCount = mobjClient.GetStream.EndRead(ar) End SyncLock 'if none, we are disconnected If intCount < 1 Then RaiseEvent Disconnected(Me) Exit Sub End If Dim bf As New BinaryFormatter Dim c As New Cereal c = CType(bf.Deserialize(mobjClient.GetStream), Cereal) If c.text.Length > 0 Then RaiseEvent LineReceived(Me, c.text) Else RaiseEvent CardReceived(Me, c) End If 'starts listening for action on stream again SyncLock mobjClient.GetStream mobjClient.GetStream.BeginRead(arData, 0, 1024, AddressOf DoReceive, Nothing) End SyncLock Catch e As Exception RaiseEvent Disconnected(Me) End Try End Sub when the following line executes, I get a System.OutOfMemoryException and I cannot figure out why this isn't working. c = CType(bf.Deserialize(mobjClient.GetStream), Cereal) The stream is a TCPClient stream. I'm new to serialization/deserialization and using visual studio 11
