  • Visual Studio 2005 doesn't support Sql Server 2008

    I'm developing Reporting services on VS2005 and have to connect to SQL Server 2008. The following Error occurs: "This server version is not supported. You must have Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 or later." I found on the net a patch for it, but it doesn't work (link to patch) "The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer Service because the program to be upgraded is missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program." what else can I do ? :(

  • Visual studio asp.net code behind file not showing errors

    Hi, I am developing a web application in which I am suddenly facing an issue. I have a webpage which contains many controls, one of the control is JQuery color picker. Now, I am upgrading my system with telerik controls. As part of this process, I replaced textbox(txtcolor) with radcolorpicker with a different id(colorPicker). Suddenly, my code behind file is not throwing any errors like 'unable to find txtColor'. It is running successfully without build errors. But, when I open the page, system is throwing runtime exception(txtColor not found) which is correct. I tried to change other controls with asp.net controls, still the problem persists. So, I dont think it is anything to do with telerik. Could you please let me know how can fix this issue?? Thanks, Mahesh

  • Floating point precision in Visual C++

    HI, I am trying to use the robust predicates for computational geometry from Jonathan Richard Shewchuk. I am not a programmer, so I am not even sure of what I am saying, I may be doing some basic mistake. The point is the predicates should allow for precise aritmthetic with adaptive floating point precision. On my computer: Asus pro31/S (Core Due Centrino Processor) they do not work. The problem may stay in the fact the my computer may use some improvements in the floating point precision taht conflicts with the one used by Shewchuk. The author says: /* On some machines, the exact arithmetic routines might be defeated by the / / use of internal extended precision floating-point registers. Sometimes / / this problem can be fixed by defining certain values to be volatile, / / thus forcing them to be stored to memory and rounded off. This isn't / / a great solution, though, as it slows the arithmetic down. */ Now what I would like to know is that there is a way, maybe some compiler option, to turn off the internal extended precision floating-point registers.   • Visual Studio's CSS Intellisense - Absolute paths & MasterPage files

    Hi there. I've noticed that to get CSS-Intellisense working in VS, the paths have to be relative - Is this the case? However, it seems <link href="/resources/test.css" [...] /> is far more practical than <link href="resources/test.css" [...] /> I'm including the CSS in the master page, and don't see much good in including it as a content block, just to get the relative paths correct for each directory depth. I've had a quick try with inline code resolving the path, but no dice there either (for Intellisense). I feel I'm missing something fairly simple - What's the correct approach here to have CSS Intellisense work across the pages in the app during dev, and render fine in any deployed state? Cheers.   • visual j# not working in .net 4

    I tried to convert a project that relies on the vjs runtime to vs2010, but it errors out when trying to run. It's giving the error that "Could not load file or assembly 'vjslib' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format." I reinstalled the vjs runtime, but it didn't seem to help. Is there any way to get get .net 4 to work with this? Thanks!

    How to rotate an ellipse (or any other object) with VB code? In XAML, I designed an ellipse and easily rotated it from the properties (Transform - Rotate - Angle). When I am trying to do it with VB code, I cannot locate the rotate/angle property of that ellipse. So, I tried this: Dim Rotator As RotateTransform Rotator.Angle = 90 Ellipse1.RenderTransform = Rotator It didn’t work. It says: Unable to cast object of type 'Windows.UI.Xaml.Media.MatrixTransform' to type 'Windows.UI.Xaml.Media.RotateTransform'. I think I’m close to the right way. Please give me a push. Thanks

    I'm planning on creating a C# Windows Forms app as an extension for a third-party Win32 application but I'm stumped as to how to do this right now. The farthest I've gotten is knowing it involves Win32 Hooking and that there's this open source project called EasyHook that's supposed to allow me to do this. I'd like to know how I can get the text from a textbox or some other data from a control in a third-party Win32 application. The text/data in a control is to be captured from the external application's running window the moment the user presses a button. I guess the question can be summed up as follows: How do you determine the event to hook to when the user clicks a certain button? How do you get the value displayed by a Win32 control at the time the button is clicked?

  • WPF Visual States and the transitions between them

    I'm trying to define many different states in my app (around 7 in my case) and I have defined each one of them with a "Default Transition" of zero seconds, but the animation that accompanies each state goes for 1 second. When I fire up my app I have a button than goes through the states one by one, when I go "State1" - "State2" it looks perfect, but when I tell my app (which should be in State2 now) to go to "State3" it reverts all the objects in my scene back to their base state, and then animates to "State3", why doesnt it go from "State2" to "State3". I was hoping to only define each state's end position without defining a starting position as this would really take a long time to do. Can this be done? Any examples? Cheers, Mark

  • Internet Explorer visual element stacking issue

    Gday All, I know this issue is well known, however I have searched high and low for a solution to no avail. I have created a menu system using nested ordered lists where the menu functionality is controlled by CSS and Jquery. The menu works perfectly in FF, Chrome, Opera and Epiphany. However in IE 6/7/8 my popup menu is being displayed underneath a table. See the image below. The very top box is a div element containing my menu system. I am working with legacy code that uses tables for display so the next box and the "ts found. Try a different subcate" text is in a "td" element of a table. I have tried to force the table to have a lower z-index but this does not work. Any insights into why this is only present in IE would be appreciated. Cheers, Michael

  • Proper way in MVVM to drive visual states.

    Given a content presenter that can display one of 4 different application pages, and I want to fade/otherwise animate a transition between pages based on view model state. Ideally I'd like to have these all defined within a DataTemplate, and then trigger transitions based on an enum from the view model, so that when some enum representing state changes, the transitions trigger to the appropriate page. Is there a known best practice to handle things like this? Immediately coming to mind is the possibiltiy to use Enter and Exit actions on data triggers to play storyboards, but this definately doesn't use the parts and states model, so I'd like to shy away from that. I've also tried using the DataStateSwitchBehavior from the codeplex Expression project, but found it to be incompatable with the latest builds of WPF 4.0/Blend 4 RC's SDK. Does anyone have any ideas on how to handle this elegantly? I'm using the MVVM-Light framework. Also I'd like to point out that as long as this resides on a DataTemplate in a Resource Dictionary, code-behind is not an option without refactoring.

  • Linking problems using libcurl with Visual C++ 2005: "unresolved external symbol __imp__curl_easy_se

    Hi, I am planning to use libcurl in my project. I had downloaded the library source,built and integrated it in a small POC application. I am able to build and run the application without any issues with the generated libcurl.dll and libcurl_imp.lib files. Now when I integrate the same library in my project I am getting linker errors. 6foo.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _imp_curl_easy_setopt 6foo.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _imp_curl_easy_perform 6foo.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _imp_curl_easy_cleanup 6foo.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _imp_curl_global_init 6foo.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _imp_curl_easy_init I have researched and tried all manners of workarounds like adding CURL_STATICLIB definitions , additional libraries , changing to /MT even copying the libs to the release directory but nothing seems to work. As far as I can see the only difference between approach #1 and #2 in my steps are #1 is an console application using the libcurl.dll while in my main project this is another dll which is trying to link to libcurl.dll.. Would that necessitate any change in approach? Can I use the same generated multi threaded DLL /MD file for both(Tried /MT also with no success)? Any other ideas?
