• Extrange gray rectangle when debugging with monodevelop

  when I debug with Monodevelop, in Linux Mint, most of the times I get a small gray rectangle on top of the screen. It stays there, on top of any other application even If I minimize monodevelop. It won't go away until I close it. If I click on it, the elements in the background receive the events. I get this problem in two different machines, both with Mint 13 and monodevelop 2.6 and 3. How can I get rid of it?

• Flex 4 Spark VideoDisplay in Popup causes memory leak

  Hi, I'm currently building an air app with FB 4. I have a custom control that contains a VideoDisplay control, and which loaded using the PopupManager. Using the profiler, i've noticed that every time the my popup is loaded the memory for it gets allocated, but when it's closed the memory is never recovered. There's nothing else holding a reference to the popup. And if I don't set the source of the VideoDisplay object, then there is no leak - but as soon as the source is set I get a leak. I can't see any method to force close the stream or anything on the spark VideoDisplay control. Any idea or suggestions? EDIT: I have tried setting the source to null before closing the popup but that doesn't change anything. Also, I'm not holding any event listener to the video

• tool to remove repeated css selectors

  I have 3 stylesheets that I have copied and pasted all into 1. As such, there are identical/repeated selectors. Is there an effective tool I can use to remove all repeated selectors if the style properties are identical? Another requirement is if the repeated selector exists once within a group of selectors and once as a standalone selector... the program will remove the selector AND properties of the standalone only (not delete the properties of the selector in a group). I have no clue if this is possible, but have just spent a few hours looking for one with no avail. Anyone know of anything close? Thanks in advance!

  I'm using Python and its MySQLdb module to import some measurement data into a Mysql database. The amount of data that we have is quite high (currently about ~250 MB of csv files and plenty of more to come). Currently I use cursor.execute(...) to import some metadata. This isn't problematic as there are only a few entries for these. The problem is that when I try to use cursor.executemany() to import larger quantities of the actual measurement data, MySQLdb raises a TypeError: not all arguments converted during string formatting My current code is def __insert_values(self, values): cursor = self.connection.cursor() cursor.executemany(""" insert into values (ensg, value, sampleid) values (%s, %s, %s)""", values) cursor.close() where values is a list of tuples containing three strings each. Any ideas what could be wrong with this? Edit: The values are generated by yield (prefix + row['id'], row['value'], sample_id) and then read into a list one thousand at a time where row is and iterator coming from csv.DictReader.

• spike in my inverse fourier transform

  I am trying to compare two data sets in MATLAB. To do this I need to filter the data sets by Fourier transforming the data, filtering it and then inverse Fourier transforming it. When I inverse Fourier transform the data however I get a spike at either end of the red data set (picture shows the first spike), it should be close to zero at the start, like the blue line. I am comparing many data sets and this only happens occasionally. I have three questions about this phenomenon. First, what may be causing it, secondly, how can I remedy it, and third, will it affect the data further along the time series or just at the beginning and end of the time series as it appears to from the picture. Any help would be great thanks.

• Is there a jquery List plugin that will auto-sort items and has robust add/remove methods?

  I have been googling for hours looking for something to handle my situation. I am not skilled enough to write my own jquery plugin ..YET!! The plugin should auto-sort the list, not as important as being able to add/remove items from the list easily. Themeroller capable would be a plus. I would basically use anything as long as I could add a item to the list (or any other container for that matter), item is coming from a modal popup that is using ajax to search for the item. Once the item is found I want to click that item and have it added to the list and it would put it into the correct order based on alphabetic sort. I think where I am losing sight is the complexity of the item and needing to have the item contain: The name of the item a hidden value, [the int id of the item], one or two checkboxes for turning on/off a feature for that item. I am really open to any ideas, suggestions on a better process, or a pointer to a plugin that might get me close.

  This should be a very basic design question, but for some reason it doesn't seem to be well documented (maybe due to its simplicity?). If I'm building a dashboard application in WPF that brig up different CRM tasks and I want to navigate between screens, is this the best way to do this, or is there a better way? • Trying to add trailing slash with htaccess, results in a absolute path

  What I'm trying to achive is to have all urls on my page look like http://domain.com/page/, no extensions, but a trailing slash. If a user happends to write http://domain.com/page or http://domain.com/page.php it will redirect to the first url. After some googling i found this code, and it's close to working, but when you leave out the trailing slash in your request the url becomes something like http://domain.com/Users/"..."/page/ and therefor returns a 404. If I replace the LIKE with something such as: SELECT col1, col2 FROM table1 t1 JOIN table2 t2 ON t1.cityid = t2.cityid where t1.cityname = ? order by t1.cityname It works fine. I do open/close the DB before after the above code. Is there a way to troubleshoot exactly why the database can't be opened and what its relationship to my LIKE syntax is?

• Typecast to an int in Octave/Matlab

  I need to call the index of a matrix made using the linspace command, and based on somde data taken from an oscilloscope. Because of this, the data inputed is a double. However, I can't really call: Time[V0Found] where V0Found is something like 5.2 however, taking index 5 is close enough, so I need to drop the decimal. I used this equation to drop the decimal: V0FoundDec = V0Found - mod(V0Found,1) Time[V0FoundDec] However, eve though that drops the decimal, octave still complains about it. So, what can I do to typecast it to an int? Thank you.

• Registry in .NET: DeleteSubKeyTree says the subkey does not exists, but hey, it does!

  Hi, Trying to delete a subkey tree: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.hdr. .hdr subkey has one subkey, no values. WTF? I checked and asserted it did exist?

• Silverlight running in IE kiosk mode

  Hi, We are having a weird problem where by we are running a silveright application in IE8 kiosk mode, the shortcut is added to windows startup. The silverlight app runs on localhost. It all works fine until you reboot, IE displays "navigation to the webpage was canceled" when it loads. Yet the shortcut works fine, if you close IE and manually go into the startup folder and run the shortcut, or run the same shortcut from the desktop. I assume there is some sort of timing issue but have no idea what. Tried using 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost incase DNS hadn't been properly initialised at that point or something. Maybe an IIS initialisation problem? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your time

  i hope i'm just doing something wrong here. Ideally i'm trying to open the connection, open a transaction execute a ton of prebuilt sqlstatements (with parameters) against this connection then close the connection. ideally all in the same batch. It's easy enough to wrap this all in a for loop, however i'd like to use the forEach function of the list generic to set the connection as it'll probably be faster than my implementation of calling List.Item(i) in the loop but i get some strange errors. • Problem using Hibernate-Search

  Hi, I am using hibernate search for my application. It is well configured and running perfectly till some time back, when it stopped working suddenly. The reason according to me being the number of my model (bean) classes. I have some 90 classes, which I add to my configuration, while building my Hibernate Configuration. When, I disable hibernate search (remove the search annotations and use Configuration instead of AnnotationsConfiguration), I try to start my application, it Works fine. But,the same app when I enable search, it just hangs up. I tried debugging and found the exact place where it hangs. After adding all the class to my AnnotationsConfiguration object, when I say cfg.buildSessionfactory(), It never comes out of that statement. (I have waited for hours!!!) Also when I decrease the number of my model classes (like say to half i.e. 50) it comes out of that statement and the application works fine.. Can Someone tell why is this happening?? My versions of hibernate are: hibernate-core-3.3.1.GA.jar hibernate-annotations-3.4.0.GA.jar hibernate-commons-annotations-3.1.0.GA.jar hibernate-search-3.1.0.GA.jar Also if need to avoid using AnnotationsConfiguration, I read that I need to configure the search event listeners explicitly.. can anyone list all the neccessary listeners and their respective classes? • Using rest-client to upload a paperclip attachment but getting no file found error

  Hello, I have a paperclip attachment that I wan to upload to a web-service using rest-client. However, when I try to run it, I get an error: No such file or directory - /system/postalimages/1/original/postcard-1.png?1274635084 But the file exists for sure: I see it in my directory. How do I debug this? • Flex RSL Understanding

  Till now I was using "Merged into code" for "Framework Linkage" in Flex Builder. Now, I changed it to "Runtime shared library". On doing a release build I got myapp.swf which is roughly 260 KB which was earlier close to 350 KB. It also generated framework.swz and framework.swf. But I copied only myapp.swf on my web site and not framework.swz. Still the website works just fine. I also cleared the flash player cache from here. It works just fine without the .swz file. So my questions are: Is the framework.swz file actually used or does the flash player have a copy of it beforehand. And is that copy not cleared by clearing cache of flash player? And, even after clearing the cache, I didn't see a request for framework.swz in firebug. Why?

  I am trying to write a program that monitors an IMAP mailbox and automatically copies every new incoming message into an "Archive" folder. I'm using imaplib2 which implements the IDLE command. Here's my basic program: M = imaplib2.IMAP4("mail.me.com") M.login(username,password) lst = M.list() assert lst[0]=='OK' for mbx in lst[1]: print "Mailboxes:",mbx def process(m): print "m=",m res = M.recent() print res M.select('INBOX') M.examine(mailbox='INBOX',callback=process) while True: print "Calling idle..." M.idle() print "back from idle" M.close() M.logout() It prints the mailboxes properly and runs process() when the first change happens to the mailbox. But the response from recent() doesn't make sense to me, and after the first message I never get any other notifications. Anyone know how to do this?

• jTabbedPane opens different tab on loading

  Hey mates, First of all I'm using netbeans as my IDE and I don't know if this is causing it. When I run my program (even if I have build it and run the .jar) I think it selects the tab that was previously selected (before quiting). So if for example I close the app with the third tab selected, it starts up with that selected again. Is there a known solution for this? The selectedIndex property on the jTabbedPane is set to 0. Shouldn't this property be the default onLoad value? Thx in advance, Jimmy PS. BTW for some reason it didn't submit my question in Opera (?)

• Python's subprocess.Popen object hangs gathering child output when child process does not exit

  When a process exits abnormally or not at all, I still want to be able to gather what output it may have generated up until that point. The obvious solution to this example code is to kill the child process with an os.kill, but in my real code, the child is hung waiting for NFS and does not respond to a SIGKILL. #!/usr/bin/python import subprocess import os import time import signal import sys child_script = """ #!/bin/bash i=0 while [ 1 ]; do echo "output line $i" i=$(expr $i \+ 1) sleep 1 done """ childFile = open("/tmp/childProc.sh", 'w') childFile.write(child_script) childFile.close() cmd = ["bash", "/tmp/childProc.sh"] finish = time.time() + 3 p = subprocess.Popen(cmd, stdout=subprocess.PIPE, stderr=subprocess.PIPE, stdin=subprocess.PIPE) while p.poll() is None: time.sleep(0.05) if finish < time.time(): print "timed out and killed child, collecting what output exists so far" out, err = p.communicate() print "got it" sys.exit(0) In this case, the print statement about timing out appears and the python script never exits or progresses.
