  UBUNTU 11.10 on 8GB USB 3.0 pendrive. Drive Partitioned using gparted. 4GB BASE 3GB Home 600MB swap Installation Ok. Restart blinking cursor. Installed another distro on another USB 3.0 stick. It boots OK. --------------- DEBUG -------------------------------------- Boot Other distro and check: I compare boot file with another linux. grub of ubuntu is 1.4mb contend is different. Taken photo with mobile camera but can not add here. Files has note(music) sign on it. Downloaded 11.10 desktop and Installed. Same result. Will download 12.x when ready and try.   I have install Ubuntu 11.10 64bit on my Hp Dv6-3150el. My Notebook has two graphics cards: lspci | grep VGA 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Madison [AMD Radeon HD 5000M Series] I tried to install the proprietary graphics drivers ''fglrx'' available in "Additional Drivers", which does not give me 3D graphics acceleration (and I can't install those post-release). Then I can try to download and install from the website (I tried the version that Catalyst 11.8 11.12). The installation goes perfectly (I followed this guide and others), except that when I configure Xorg.conf file: sudo aticonfig --initial PowerXpress error: Cannot stat '/usr/lib64/fglrx': No such file or directory Failed to initialize libglx for discrete GPU

• Google search preview shows content not on the website

  My website google search entry is messed up. In the preview in google search results, I get things like cracks, serials, random ip addresses. I scanned all files and my computer for viruses and malware and could not find anything. I also tried to download and reupload all content from a friend's computer and still that content persists. I also scanned the source code of all files, but the content does not appear in any file. Google also does not detect any malware on the website, as seen in their webmaster tools. I have searched using the same keywords in other search engines such as bing and yahoo and the search results there are fine. I am quite clueless as to what the causes would be for this and what would be a possible remedy.

  The IPV6 protocol has a feature called "Extended Unique Identifier" or EUI-64 witch in short uses the MAC address of the network card when choosing an IPV6 Adress. If you want to be anonymous on the internet (so that nobody can find you when you download something, etc.) you need this EUI-64 to be bipassed in order for the MAC address not to be discovered by harmful third parties on the internet and for privacy.   Wow, two blog entries in the same day! When I wrote the large 'Quota' blog entry below, I did not realize there would be a micro-code update going out the same evening. So here it is. Code 2011.1.4.2 has just been released. You can get the readme file for it here: https://wikis.oracle.com/display/FishWorks/ak-2011.04.24.4.2+Release+Notes Download it, of course, through the MOS website. It looks like it fixes a pretty nasty bug. Get it if you think it applies to you. Unless you have a great reason NOT to upgrade, I would strongly advise you to upgrade to 2011.1.4.2. Why? Because the readme file says they STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU ALL UPGRADE TO THIS CODE IMMEDIATELY using LOTS OF CAPITAL LETTERS. That's good enough for me. Be sure to run the health check like the readme tells you to.

  I guess this is trivial and most commonly asked question, but I'd reiterate it again here as I'm not able to find a correct solution. I'm trying to install Ubuntu Cloud setup on VMWare using the package from http://download.ubuntu.com and have this basic installation setup issue as per the below image. file:///cdrom/pool/main/k/klibc/klibc-utils_1.5.25-1ubuntu2_amd64.deb was corrupt The issue is I cannot continue by skipping this as you know this happens to be the most important setup. How can I fix this? Help is sincerely appreciated.

• Managing large downloadable content on mobile devices

  This is a general question of how to best manage large downloadable content on mobile devices. Lets consider a situation whereby a mobile app needs to download a number of very large content items, like HD videos, that are over 500MB but under 2GB. Now, lets assume this content delivery system should be scalable. Would it be a fair assumption that: A reputable cloud service would be needed - if so, what is a reliable and cost effective cloud service for mobile devices based on anyone's experience? Large content downloads should only be attempted over a wifi connection, so the end user doesn't incur large costs, e.g. when travelling. Downloads should carry on in the background if possible, as the user won't want to wait in an app for long periods. If the downloads don't finish, or the OS quits the app, all downloads should carry on when the app is next activated? Are there any other pitfalls anyone may have experienced when managing large content on mobile devices? Thanks.

• Leapfrog Crammer won't mount as a USB flash drive

  I can't seem to get the Leapfrog Crammer study and sound system to show up as a flash drive under ubuntu so I can transfer stuff to it. I don't want to install the leapfrog bloatware, can someone help me with this? Additional Information: When I plug my crammer into my computer it shows a 1 MB file system with a link to download the crammer software. I want to know how to access the rest of the crammer's file system so I can transfer music to it. The crammer does not show any other partitions in natulius. According to an article on the internet, the crammed is divided into three partitions: One with a link to install the crammer software, one with all content(music, flash cards, etc.) and one for firmware. I want to know how to access the one with the content so I can add music to the player. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance.

  I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 (VMware). I aim to implement OpenMP. Im using gcc 4.5 compiler. I tried to install it by using the command sudo apt-get install gcc 4.5. Afterwards I proceed with gcc -fopenmp foo.c BUT the output was: gcc: foo.c: No such file or directory gcc: no input files –. Now I tried to install the package by using : ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install essential Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: Unable to locate package essential. I also tried apt-cache search essential and after that sudo apt-get install essential-dev But the same error again, E: Unable to locate package essential-dev Any solution,please? So, my to my question - I got loop that run 5 times and in each time it echo something, If I'll make variable and the loop will add the text I want to echo into the variable and just in the end I'll echo the variable - will it be faster? loop 1 (with the echo inside the loop) for ($i = 0;$i < 5;$i++) { echo "test"; } loop 2 (with the echo outside [when the loop finish]) $echostr = ""; for ($i = 0;$i < 5;$i++) { $echostr .= "test"; } echo $echostr; I know that loop 2 will increase a bit the file size and therefore the user will have to download more bytes but If I got huge loop will it be better to use second loop or not?
