  • Differences between how OS X Snow Leopard and Lion interface with a proxy?

    We have a proxy at school, which requires a login/password, and blocks a certain number of sites that aren't "school related" (facebook, youtube, etc.) While I'm able to get through to most things, people who've upgraded to Lion can't get through to anything, even though I've replicated my proxy/network settings on their machines. Is it possible that the difference in OS versions is causing this? I have Snow Leopard, they have Lion.

  • Addons which actually make Firefox run faster?

    I would like to know of addons which actually enhance firefox's performance, both intentionally and unintentionally. I find that firefox tends to have major performance issues with certain websites. These websites tend to have a fair amount of javascript and css, and probably a large dom tree which may even be growing dynamically through javascript too. The worse offenders are those with heavy javascript, use heavy facebook integration, websites with non performant javascript, excessive javascript and websites with too many advertisements.

    I hope I am asking this at the correct forum. I have a client from whom I have developed a PHP based Facebook project, who is hosting their site on IIS with ASP and no access to PHP, so they have created a sub domain to point to my server to host the site. I have an SSL on www.mydomain.com, but their sub domain does not have SSL (app.theirdomain.com). Would redirection from their side be possible to SSL on my side so that the FB app works?

  • Untraceable malicious browser calls

    I installed Fiddler 4 Beta to do some HTTP tracing. I found a lot of calls being made to sites like : facebook, collegehumor and a bunch of other sites I've never visited. Could not trace what/who is initiating these calls as I do not see any Windows Processes. No one else is connected to my network. I use both Google Chrome and IE10 on a Windows 7 box. Please help me tracing and removing these malicious HTTP calls.

Our SEO specialist is under the impression that many larger corporations may have jQuery blocked in their proxies to prevent their users from visiting sites like Facebook.     I am unable to access certain websites from my PC viz. google.com, gmail.com , stackoverflow.com, etc. However, I am able to access facebook.com, twitter.com, infoq.com etc. Currently I am accessing Google via proxy server. I suspect that the problem might exist with websites that have used ASP for scripting. Please suggest a solution to the problem that I am facing.

    I have simple issue -- I would like to check a field to see if it's numeric if it is not blank. I'm not using any additional plugins, just jQuery.   • Mike Cohn-style burndown charts in JIRA

    We use Jira/Greenhopper for our project planning/tracking. The built-in graphs are great, but when a new issue/story is added during a project, the whole burn-down graph moves up rather than increasing the part of the graph when the issue was added. Ideally I'd like to generate a Mike Cohn-style burndown graph, which shows a hump when new issues are added. Does anyone know of any plugins that support this, or been able to extract this data directly from the database?

  • Mac OS X Terminal: mouse support?

    Is there a native option (ie. without installing extra soft/package/plugins) to enable mouse support in the Terminal app? Actually, I'm using a lot vim with the option set mouse=a (activating mouse features). But it seems that Terminal don't support all xterm's features. It appears (after some googling) that Terminal had once the mouse support, but I wonder where did it go. N.B: I really want mouse support in Terminal, not only for vim, so please, don't suggest MacVim :]

The website finds other members' faces that resemble the morphed face and list up in order of resemblance. Is there a script that can do this?   • m2eclipse: Eclipse is running in a JRE, but a JDK is required

    Hello, I have a problem with m2eclipse (0.10.0) together with eclipse galileo (Build id: 20090920-1017). I always get the error message:"Eclipse is running in a JRE, but a JDK is required". I have tried several things, but nothing works. The error message is still there. Here are the things I have tried: In WindowPreferencesJavaInstalled JREs I checked JDK1.6.0_20. DOES NOT WORK In WindowPreferencesJavaInstalled JREs I removed all JREs. Only the checked JDK1.6.0_20 is still there. DOES NOT WORK In WindowPreferencesJavaInstalled JREsExecution Environments I choosed JavaSE-1.6 and checked JDK1.6.0_20[perfect match]. DOES NOT WORK. In Preferences of the eclipse desktop start icon I added the -vm parameter (C:\Programme\eclipse_galileo\eclipse\eclipse.exe -vm C:\Programme\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\bin). DOES NOT WORK. I added the clean parameter (C:\Programme\eclipse_galileo\eclipse\eclipse.exe -vm C:\Programme\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\bin -clean). DOES NOT WORK. I added the -vm parameter to the eclipse.ini file with a carriage return after -vm and C:/Programme/Java/jdk1.6.0_20/bin/javaw.exe in a new line. DOES NOT WORK. After doing all these things I removed the m2eclipse plugin and installed it once again. DOES NOT WORK. New ideas I have tried: In Preferences of the eclipse desktop start icon I put the executable at the end (C:\Programme\eclipse_galileo\eclipse\eclipse.exe -vm C:\Programme\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\bin\javaw.exe). DOES NOT WORK. I changed in eclipse.ini the slashes to backslashes. DOES NOT WORK. Here is my eclipse.ini file: -startup plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.0.201.R35x_v20090715.jar --launcher.library plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.win32.win32.x86_1.0.200.v20090519 -product org.eclipse.epp.package.jee.product --launcher.XXMaxPermSize 256M -showsplash org.eclipse.platform --launcher.XXMaxPermSize 256m -vm C:\Programme\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\bin\javaw.exe -vmargs -Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.5 -Xms40m -Xmx512m Is anyone out there who have other ideas?   • Async BinaryWriter ?

    I found implementation of async BinaryWriter here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/netfxbcl/thread/11f6aa76-1383-4cab-8693-29dcb25bbf2e But I can't really use it. I change all my types to AsyncBinaryWriter and I use .Write, but no data is written to the stream. Is that the proper way for using it ?

  • Cufon text z-index (IE6 and IE7 stylish select box bug)

    Hello, I'm replacing some text with cufon on my page and I'm using jquery stylish select box plugin (http://www.scottdarby.com/plugins/stylish-select/0.4/) to style select boxes. The problem is that, in IE6 and IE7, select box goes under the cufonized text. (the select box is actually an <ul>). Anyone had this issue before? Thanks, Adrian
