    Here is some example data: data = data.frame(series = c("1a", "1b", "1e"), reading = c(0.1, 0.4, 0.6)) > data series reading 1 1a 0.1 2 1b 0.4 3 1e 0.6 Which I can pull out selective single rows using subset: > subset (data, series == "1a") series reading 1 1a 0.1 And pull out multiple rows using a logical OR > subset (data, series == "1a" | series == "1e") series reading 1 1a 0.1 3 1e 0.6 But if I have a long list of series expressions, this gets really annoying to input, so I'd prefer to define them in a better way, something like this: series_you_want = c("1a", "1e") (although even this sucks a little) and be able to do something like this, subset (data, series == series_you_want) The above obviously fails, I'm just not sure what the best way to do this is?

    I have translated the MailChimp provided MailChimp List Subscribe Form plugin for wordpress. I used poEdit to edit. At wp-config.php I have language set as ar_SA. Which works for the themes I have used in two Bilingual sites. But the mo file had to be renamed to ar.mo I got two problems: While updating the catalog poEdit crashes. But I could save the .po and generated .mo successfully. The translated .mo doesn't appear for the confirmation success or error messages through the Ajax calls which its supposed to. I am submitting my .po file link here for experts to view. I have saved the settings for translation in the files. Translated Bangla.po file || Translated Arabic.po file

    I have a list of strings and a list of filters (which are also strings, to be interpreted as regular expressions). I want a list of all the elements in my string list that are accepted by at least one of the filters. Ideally, I'd write [s for s in strings if some (lambda f: re.match (f, s), filters)] where some is defined as def some (pred, list): for x in list: res = pred (x) if res: return res return False Is something like that already available in Python, or is there a more idiomatic way to do this?

  • Is is possible to hide label colors in list view in Mac OS 10.X Finder? I use labels as star ratings

    I have modified the first five label names in OS X Lion to be ? through ?????. This way I can easily tag photos etc. in the finder. However, I find that Apple's rendering of the colored bars is horrendously ugly. I'd like to keep the labels (to be able to sort by label) but not see the colors. I know it was possible to change the colors with Label X, but Unsanity has not issued an update for Lion. I don't need to change the colors, just find a way to hide them in the finder.

    I want to create a query to list of all user defined stored procedures, excluding the ones that are system stored procedures, considering that: Checking the name like "sp_" doesn't work because there are user stored procedures that start with "sp_". Checking the property is_ms_shipped doesn't work because there are system stored procedures that have that flag = 0, for example: sp_alterdiagram (it is not MSShipped but appears under System Stored Procedures in SQL Server Management Studio). There must be a property, or a flag somewhere since you can see the "System Stored Procedures" in a separate folder in SQL 2005. Does anyone know?     I have Angle class that I want initialized to a random value. The Angle constructor can accept an int from a random() function. Is it safe to place this call in the ctor list: foo::foo() : Angle(random(0xFFFF)) {...} or do I have to do it in the body of the constructor? foo::foo() { Angle = Angle(random(0xFFFF)); ...} If it matters, the foo class is derived from another class and does have virtual methods. In addition, no exception handling is allowed in our app.

    I am able to send email to individual users but when not when they are in a distribution group. When I do I get this report. The message could not be delivered because the recipient's destination email system is unknown or invalid. Please check the address and try again, or contact your system administrator to verify connectivity to the email system of the recipient. #5.3.1 However, like I said before I can select their name from the GAL and send mail that way. Their email address is exactly the same in both the GAL and distribution group. The only difference is these users have external email addresses. Windows Server 2003 Exchange Server 2003 Outlook 2007 and 2010.

    Apologies for the rather vague nature of this question, I've never been taught programming and Google is rather useless to a self-help guy like me in this case as the key words are pretty ambiguous. I am writing a couple of functions that encode and decode a list of options into a Long so they can easily be passed around the application, you know this kind of thing: 1 - Apple 2 - Orange 4 - Banana 8 - Plum etc. In this case the number 11 would represent Apple, Orange & Plum. I've got it working but I see this used all the time so assume there is a common name for the technique, and no doubt all sorts of best practice and clever algorithms that are at the moment just out of my reach.

    I have a nested list: <ul> <li><a href='#'>stuff</a></li> <li><a href='#'>stuff2</a></li> <ul> <li><a href='#'>stuff3</a></li> </ul> <li><a href='#'>stuff4</a></li> </ul> ...and want to collapse the nested ul when the li is clicked. Before I was using $('UL LI').click(function(){ $(this).next().slideToggle(); }); ...but this obviously causes a problem when a li doesn't have a ul nested after it. Is there a better way to do this, or is there a way for me to determine if the object returned by $(this).next() is a UL?

    We've created a pretty standard issue tracking system based off of SharePoint's template with just a few extra columns. On the list view (AllItems.aspx), the first column is called "Issue ID" and has a number. Our developers and QC use that number in discussions. However, that number doesn't seem to want to show up on the detail form (DispForm.aspx) nor in the alert email. Can this field be included in at least one of these communication methods? If so, how? Thank you.

However, if I explicitly apply this function to the individual elements, it works...   • Get a list of Android phone contacts only on Eclair and above?

    I want to show the user a flattened pick list of all their contacts phone numbers and it must work from versions 1.6 up. I have read the related questions on SO and the Android documentation for Eclair (http://developer.android.com/resources/articles/contacts.html#legacy). The problem is, even splitting my code into a factory class and specific implementations does not work for me because using Contacts.CONTENT_URI only shows contacts not individual numbers. What I need is this for version 1.6 Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK, Phones.CONTENT_URI); startActivityForResult(intent, REQUEST_PICK_CONTACT); And the equivalent for 2.0 and above. Even if I get their example to work, by building against the 2.1 API am I not stopping my app being visible on the Market to users with earlier versions of the OS? I can't launch it against a 1.6 emulator, for example.

I may have something like this: List<BaseClass> list = new List<BaseClass>() { new Class1(), new Class2(1), new Class3(), new Class2(2), new Class4() }; I am trying to use LINQ to semi-sort the list so that the natural order is maintained EXCEPT for Class2. All Class2 instances should be grouped together at the place that the first Class2 occurs. Here is what the output should be like: List<BaseClass> list = new List<BaseClass>() { new Class1(), new Class2(1), new Class2(2), new Class3(), new Class4() }; I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this...

When I run my app and enter the url "/Admin/Pages/List" I'm getting an The resource cannot be found error. When I enter /Pages/List, the Action method is hit but the view is not found,because the app is searching in wrong directories ~/Views/Pages/List.aspx ~/Views/Pages/List.ascx ~/Views/Shared/List.aspx ~/Views/Shared/List.ascx the view is in /Admin/Pages/List.     I am really new to Haskell (Actually I saw "Real World Haskell" from O'Reilly and thought "hmm, I think I'll learn functional programming" yesterday) and I am wondering: I can use the construct operator to add an item to the beginning of a list: 1 : [2,3] [1,2,3] I tried making an example data type I found in the book and then playing with it: --in a file data BillingInfo = CreditCard Int String String | CashOnDelivery | Invoice Int deriving (Show) --in ghci $ let order_list = [Invoice 2345] $ order_list [Invoice 2345] $ let order_list = CashOnDelivery : order_list $ order_list [CashOnDelivery, CashOnDelivery, CashOnDelivery, CashOnDelivery, CashOnDelivery, CashOnDelivery, CashOnDelivery, CashOnDelivery, CashOnDelivery, CashOnDelivery, CashOnDelivery, CashOnDelivery, CashOnDelivery, CashOnDelivery, ...- etc... it just repeats forever, is this because it uses lazy evaluation? -- EDIT -- okay, so it is being pounded into my head that let order_list = CashOnDelivery:order_list doesn't add CashOnDelivery to the original order_list and then set the result to order_list, but instead is recursive and creates an infinite list, forever adding CashOnDelivery to the beginning of itself. Of course now I remember that Haskell is a functional language and I can't change the value of the original order_list, so what should I do for a simple "tack this on to the end (or beginning, whatever) of this list?" Make a function which takes a list and BillingInfo as arguments, and then return a list? -- EDIT 2 -- well, based on all the answers I'm getting and the lack of being able to pass an object by reference and mutate variables (such as I'm used to)... I think that I have just asked this question prematurely and that I really need to delve further into the functional paradigm before I can expect to really understand the answers to my questions... I guess what i was looking for was how to write a function or something, taking a list and an item, and returning a list under the same name so the function could be called more than once, without changing the name every time (as if it was actually a program which would add actual orders to an order list, and the user wouldn't have to think of a new name for the list each time, but rather append an item to the same list).

  • why isn't my id showing up in django admin list?

    Hi all, I have a class Task(models.Model), and i didn't define id field explicitly (since it defines automatically for you). I checked in the database, it exists for the Task. Now i would like to display it in the list via list_display property in admin.ModelAdmin. I have a bunch of things in there, only id is not showing up for any of the rows i have. Everything else works fine. Anyone know anything special i have to do to get id to display? Thanks a lot! Jason

There is a many to many relationship that has a primary key in one table that corresponds to a comma separated list in another. FK_ID | data ------------- 1,2 | foo 3 | bar 1,3,2 | blarg Is there a way to output the FK_ID field with each comma separated element as a single line in the result set? result set FK_ID | data ------------- 1 | foo 2 | foo 3 | bar 1 | blarg 2 | blarg 3 | blarg I'm thinking this would require some sort of recursive query which I don't think mysql has. An example: Typical (alpha?) sort: 1.1.32.22 11.2.4 2.1.3.4 2.11.23.1.2 2.3.7 3.12.3.5 Correct (numerical) sort: 1.1.32.22 2.1.3.4 2.3.7 2.11.23.1.2 3.12.3.5 11.2.4 I'm having trouble figuring out how to setup the algorithm to do such a sort with n number of decimal delimiters and m number of integer fields.     Yesterday, I was designing a Java class which I wanted to be initalized with Lists of various generic types: TheClass(List<String> list) { ... } TheClass(List<OtherType> list) { ... } This will not compile, as the constructors have the same erasure. I just went with factory methods differentiated by their names instead: public static TheClass createWithStrings(List<String> list) public static TheClass createWithOtherTypes(List<OtherType> list) This is less than optimal, as there isn't a single obvious location where all the different options for creating instances are available. I tried to search for better design ideas, but found surprisingly few results. What other patterns exist for designing around this problem?

    I am looking for T-SQL code to list all tables in all databases in SQL Server (at least in SS2005 and SS2008; would be nice to also apply to SS2000). The catch, however, is that I would like a single result set. This precludes the otherwise excellent answer from Pinal Dave: sp_msforeachdb 'select "?" AS db, * from [?].sys.tables' The above stored proc generates one result set per database, which is fine if you are in an IDE like SSMS that can display multiple result sets. However, I want a single result set because I want a query that is essentially a "find" tool: if I add a clause like WHERE tablename like '%accounts' then it would tell me where to find my BillAccounts, ClientAccounts, and VendorAccounts tables regardless of which database they reside in.

    On Linux with the GNU toolchain, I know how to control exported symbols from a shared library with a version script (gcc -Wl,--version-script=symbols.map), but I would like to list exported symbols on the command line instead. IOW, I would like the equivalent of link /EXPORT:foo from the MS toolchain. Is it possible ? EDIT: My question may not be very clearn: if I have a library libfoo.so, and I want to only export libraries foo1 and foo2, I can go create a version script foo.linux as follows libfoo.so { global: foo1; foo2; local: *; } And do gcc -shared foo.c -Wl,--version-script=foo.linux -o libfoo.so -soname libfoo.so I would like to be able to do something like this instead: gcc -shared foo.c -Wl,--export-symbol=foo1 -Wl,--export-symbol=foo2 -o libfoo.so -soname libfoo.so
