  • Microsoft Word Document Controls not accepting carriage returns

    So, I have a Microsoft Word 2007 Document with several Plain Text Format (I have tried Rich Text Format as well) controls which accept input via XML. For carriage returns, I had the string being passed through XML containing "\r\n" when I wanted a carriage return, but the word document ignored that and just kept wrapping things on the same line. I also tried replacing the \r\n with System.Environment.NewLine in my C# mapper, but that just put in \r\n anyway, which still didn't work. Note also that on the control itself I have set it to "Allow Carriage Returns (Multiple Paragrpahs)" in the control properties.     Hi, while executing a long script that uses Doctrine to access the db, I get an error 2006 server has gone away. I've already solved this problem on a website that doens't use Doctrine. The solution there was to use mysqli instead of the normal mysql driver. How can i tell Doctrine to use a mysqli-driver in order to avoid 2006-errors? Thanks!

    Has anybody managed to get the ".NET Data Provider for SqlServer" to actually work within perfmon.exe. I have a .NET app that uses nhibernate to interact with sql server 2005 db. All I want to do is to view the NumberOfActiveConnectionPools, NumberOfActiveConnections and the NumberOfFreeConnections within perfmon.exe Can somebody explain to me how exactly I get this to work?   • Cannot figure out how to take in generic parameters for an Enterprise Framework library sql statemen

    I have written a specialized class to wrap up the enterprise library database functionality for easier usage. The reasoning for using the Enterprise Library is because my applications commonly connect to both oracle and sql server database systems. My wrapper handles both creating connection strings on the fly, connecting, and executing queries allowing my main code to only have to write a few lines of code to do database stuff and deal with error handling. This isn't an issue when you are calling the database code directly when forming the paramters but doesn't work for creating a generic abstraction class such as I have. In order to try and get around that I thought I could just use DbType.Object and figure the DB will figure it out based on the columns the sql is working with. Unfortunately, this is not the case as I get the following error: Implicit conversion from data type sql_variant to varchar is not allowed. Use the CONVERT function to run this query Is there any way to use generic parameters in a wrapper class or am I just going to have to move all my DB code into my main classes?

  • What is the best way to handle my softwares licenses?

    By best I mean more time tested, easier to implement and easier for the users to work with. I do not want my licensing crap to interfere with their work. I was thinking of launching a WCF service that check with my license DB if it's a valid license and if it is, send a True. If the returned response is False, then shut down the program after telling them to fix their license. Do you think this is a good way to handle it?

    We have some Hibernate getter methods annotated with both @Column and @Basic. We get an exception if we don't have the corresponding setter. Why is this? In our case we are deriving the value returned from the getter (to get stored in the DB) and the setter has no functional purpose. So we just have an empty method to get around the error condition..

The obvious technique of passing the list of literals as an array as follows doesn't seem to work: db.execute("SELECT * FROM foo WHERE bar IN (:items)", :items=>[3,1]) (In the above example, only the first value in the array is bound to :items.)

    I need a database for testing a data masking solution. Any database would do (Oracle/MSSQL flavor). I just need the schema / db definition. I have tools to generate data records. The magnitude of database I am looking should have 30 odd tables with 30 odd columns in each table - a HUGE database. Do freely available complex database /schema definitions exist on the internet? If yes, where do I find them?
