  • File IO, Handling CRLF

    - by aCuria
    Hi, i am writing a program that takes a file and splits it up into multiple small files of a user specified size, then join the multiple small files back again. 1) the code must work for c, c++ 2) i am compiling with multiple compilers. I am reading and writing to the files by using the stl functions fread() and fwrite() The problem I am having pertains to CRLF. If the file I am reading from contains CRLF, then I want to retain it when i split and join the files back together. If the file contains LF, then i want to retain LF. Unfortunately, fread() seems to store CRLF as \n (I think), and whatever is written by fwrite() is compiler-dependent. How do i approach this problem? Thanks.

  • Are indivisible operations still indivisible on multiprocessor and multicore systems?

    - by Steve314
    As per the title, plus what are the limitations and gotchas. For example, on x86 processors, alignment for most data types is optional - an optimisation rather than a requirement. That means that a pointer may be stored at an unaligned address, which in turn means that pointer might be split over a cache page boundary. Obviously this could be done if you work hard enough on any processor (picking out particular bytes etc), but not in a way where you'd still expect the write operation to be indivisible. I seriously doubt that a multicore processor can ensure that other cores can guarantee a consistent all-before or all-after view of a written pointer in this unaligned-write-crossing-a-page-boundary situation. Am I right? And are there any similar gotchas I haven't thought of?

  • Splitting lists inside list haskell

    - by user3713267
    Hi I need to split list by an argument in Haskell. I found function like this group :: Int -> [a] -> [[a]] group _ [] = [] group n l | n > 0 = (take n l) : (group n (drop n l)) | otherwise = error "Negative n" But what if lists that I want to divide are contained by another list? For example group 3 [[1,2,3,4,5,6],[2,4,6,8,10,12]] should return [[[1,2,3],[4,5,6]],[[2,4,6],[8,10,12]]] Is there any way to do that ?

  • Dynamically/recursively building hashes in Perl?

    - by Gaurav Dadhania
    I'm quite new to Perl and I'm trying to build a hash recursively and getting nowhere. I tried searching for tutorials to dynamically build hashes, but all I could find were introductory articles about hashes. I would be grateful if you point me towards the right direction or suggest a nice article/tutorial. I'm trying to read from a file which has paths in the form of one/two/three four five/six/seven/eight and I want to build a hash like VAR = { one : { two : { three : "" } } four : "" five : { six : { seven : { eight : "" } } } } The script I'm using currently is : my $finalhash = {}; my @input = <>; sub constructHash { my ($hashrf, $line) = @_; @elements = split(/\//, $line); if(@elements > 1) { $hashrf->{shift @elements} = constructHash($hashrf->{$elements[0]}, @elements ); } else { $hashrf->{shift @elements} = ""; } return $hashrf; } foreach $lines (@input) { $finalhash = constructHash($finalhash, $lines); }

  • Pull datasets from DB and manipulate into separate arrays

    - by dresdin
    My DB has four fields, date:date, morning:integer, afternoon:integer, evening:integer. Google charts needs the data split into one array per dataset (example below). What's the best way to do this? ['Day', 'Morning', 'Afternoon', 'Evening'], ['06/27/13', 1000, 400 234], ['06/28/13', 1170, 460 275], ['06/29/13', 660, 1120 377], ['06/30/13', 1030, 540 934] I've tried this without much luck: var data = google.visualization.arrayToDataTable([ <% @todo.each do |t| %> ['Day', 'Morning', 'Afternoon', 'Evening'], [<%= t.date.strftime("%m/%d/%y") %>, <%= t.morning %>, <%= t.afternoon %>, <%= t.evening %>] <% end %> ]);

  • RewriteCond to change displayed host, but not server

    - by coneybeare
    Typing out the title to this leads me to believe this might not be possible due to security concerns, but I will ask anyway. I have shortcode support running on my server, lets call it xx.yy I want it so when a user sends a request to xx.yy, it just changes the displayed host to another valid domain running on the same box. I have this so far (lets the server know to accept requests from xx.yy): RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^.*xx.yy [NC] RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http://127.0.0.1:<PORT_OMITTED>%{REQUEST_URI} [P,QSA,L] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^.*mysite.com [NC] RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http://127.0.0.1:<PORT_OMITTED>%{REQUEST_URI} [P,QSA,L] It works, and it directs the traffic into my app, but the url says http://xx.yy when I would rather it say http://mysite.com I know i could redirect to http://mysite.com instead of 127.0.0.1, but I have 4 parallel boxes of mysite.com and going back out to DNS to maybe go to another box seems like a waste when I am already here. Also, I am not sure how POST requests would work like that. What can I do?

  • Target not being executed when imported to the main *.proj file

    - by Zbigniew Kawalec
    I use the TFS 2008 build facilities. I have a large MSBuild project (TFSBuild.proj) and I wanted to split it into a few files because it is becoming hard to maintain. I found a strange behavior; when I extracted one of the targets (BeforeInitializeWorkspace) to a separate file and then imported it into the main *.proj file, it was not executed. Although, in my MSBuild log, there was information that the target has been imported and overridden, but hasn't been executed. If I have the same target defined in my main *.proj file, it is executed. Can someone explain why the target isn't executed when imported from a file? Thanks,

  • Need help using the Windows IP Helper API & ParseNetworString in C#.

    - by JohnnyNoir
    I'm attempting to rewrite some C# web service code that uses the Windows IP Helper API call "SendARP" to retreive a remote system's MAC address. SendARP works great - until you cross a network segment as Arp requests aren't routed. I've been looking at the "ParseNetworkString" documentation after happening across its existance on StackOverflow. The quick & dirty algorithm I have in mind is: public static string GetMacAddress(string strHostOrIP) { if (strHostOrIP is IPAddress) { parse results of nbstat -A strHostOrIP return macAddress } if (strHostOrIP is Hostname) { IPHostEntry hostEntry = null; try { hostEntry = Dns.GetHostEntry(strHostOrIP); } catch { return null; } if (hostEntry.AddressList.Length == 0) { return null; } foreach (IPAddress ip in hostEntry.AddressList) { if (ip.AddressFamily == System.Net.Sockets.AddressFamily.InterNetwork) { ipAddress = ip; break; } } } return GetMACAddress(ipAddress); } "ParseNetworkString" is new with Vista/Win2008 so I haven't been able to find example C# code demonstrating its use and I'm no C++ coder so if anyone can point me in the right direction...

  • PowerShell: Read text, regex sort, write output to file and formatting

    - by Bill Hunter
    I am a Powershell novice and have run into a challenge in reading, sorting, and outputting a csv file. The input csv has no headers, the data is as follows: 05/25/2010,18:48:33,Stop,a1usak,10.128.212.212 05/25/2010,18:48:36,Start,q2uhal,10.136.198.231 05/25/2010,18:48:09,Stop,s0upxb,10.136.198.231 I use the following piping construct to read the file, sort and output to a file: (Get-Content d:\vpnData\u62gvpn2.csv) | %{,[regex]::Split($, ",")} | sort @{Expression={$[3]}},@{Expression={$_[1]}} | out-file d:\vpnData\u62gvpn3.csv The new file is written with the following format: 05/25/2010 07:41:57 Stop a0uaar 10.128.196.160 05/25/2010 12:24:24 Start a0uaar 10.136.199.51 05/25/2010 20:00:56 Stop a0uaar 10.136.199.51 What I would like to see in the output file is a similar format to the original input file with comma dilimiters: 05/25/2010,07:41:57,Stop,a0uaar,10.128.196.160 05/25/2010,12:24:24,Start,a0uaar,10.136.199.51 05/25/2010,20:00:56,Stop,a0uaar,10.136.199.51 But I can't quite seem to get there. I'm almost of the mind that I'll have to write another segment to read the newly produced file and reset its contents to the preferred format for further processing. Thoughts?

  • string parsing help

    - by sprugman
    I've got a string like this: #################### Section One #################### Data A Data B #################### Section Two #################### Data C Data D etc. I want to parse it into something like: $arr( 'Section One' => array('Data A', 'Data B'), 'Section Two' => array('Data C', 'Data D') ) At first I tried this: $sections = preg_split("/(\r?\n)(\r?\n)#/", $file_content); The problem is, the file isn't perfectly clean: sometimes there are different numbers of blank lines between the sections, or blank spaces between data rows. The section head pattern itself seems to be relatively consistent: #################### Section Title #################### The number of #'s is probably consistent, but I don't want to count on it. The white space on the title line is pretty random. Once I have it split into sections, I think it'll be pretty straightforward, but any help writing a killer reg ex to get it there would be appreciated. (Or if there's a better approach than reg ex...)

  • Virtual machine on ubuntu [closed]

    I have configured virtual machine on ubuntu with the help of below article, https://help.ubuntu.com/9.04/serverguide/C/libvirt.html I managed to finish all the part except the major portion getting virtual host to talk to real network, Which I guess should be done only via bridge interface. Via virtual machine manager I try to choose any interface it gives me interface not bridged When I try to bridge the interceface eth0 as below auto br0 iface br0 inet static address 192.168.0.223 network 192.168.0.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255 gateway 192.168.0.1 bridge_ports eth0 bridge_fd 9 bridge_hello 2 bridge_maxage 12 bridge_stp off I cannot communicate with this interface to network, host server looses all the communication to network. But when I remote bridge interface from /etc/network/interfaces And configure eth0 as below it works fine The primary network interface auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.0.223 netmask 255.255.255.0 network 192.168.0.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255 dns-nameservers 62.215.6.51 gateway 192.168.0.1 how can i setup bridge interface correctly and how would my /etc/netwrok/interfaces file would look a like.

  • .NET interview, code structure and the design

    - by j_lewis
    I have been given the below .NET question in an interview. I don’t know why I got low marks. Unfortunately I did not get a feedback. Question: The file hockey.csv contains the results from the Hockey Premier League. The columns ‘For’ and ‘Against’ contain the total number of goals scored for and against each team in that season (so Alabama scored 79 goals against opponents, and had 36 goals scored against them). Write a program to print the name of the team with the smallest difference in ‘for’ and ‘against’ goals. the structure of the hockey.csv looks like this (it is a valid csv file, but I just copied the values here to get an idea) Team - For - Against Alabama 79 36 Washinton 67 30 Indiana 87 45 Newcastle 74 52 Florida 53 37 New York 46 47 Sunderland 29 51 Lova 41 64 Nevada 33 63 Boston 30 64 Nevada 33 63 Boston 30 64 Solution: class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { string path = @"C:\Users\<valid csv path>"; var resultEvaluator = new ResultEvaluator(string.Format(@"{0}\{1}",path, "hockey.csv")); var team = resultEvaluator.GetTeamSmallestDifferenceForAgainst(); Console.WriteLine( string.Format("Smallest difference in ‘For’ and ‘Against’ goals > TEAM: {0}, GOALS DIF: {1}", team.Name, team.Difference )); Console.ReadLine(); } } public interface IResultEvaluator { Team GetTeamSmallestDifferenceForAgainst(); } public class ResultEvaluator : IResultEvaluator { private static DataTable leagueDataTable; private readonly string filePath; private readonly ICsvExtractor csvExtractor; public ResultEvaluator(string filePath){ this.filePath = filePath; csvExtractor = new CsvExtractor(); } private DataTable LeagueDataTable{ get { if (leagueDataTable == null) { leagueDataTable = csvExtractor.GetDataTable(filePath); } return leagueDataTable; } } public Team GetTeamSmallestDifferenceForAgainst() { var teams = GetTeams(); var lowestTeam = teams.OrderBy(p => p.Difference).First(); return lowestTeam; } private IEnumerable<Team> GetTeams() { IList<Team> list = new List<Team>(); foreach (DataRow row in LeagueDataTable.Rows) { var name = row["Team"].ToString(); var @for = int.Parse(row["For"].ToString()); var against = int.Parse(row["Against"].ToString()); var team = new Team(name, against, @for); list.Add(team); } return list; } } public interface ICsvExtractor { DataTable GetDataTable(string csvFilePath); } public class CsvExtractor : ICsvExtractor { public DataTable GetDataTable(string csvFilePath) { var lines = File.ReadAllLines(csvFilePath); string[] fields; fields = lines[0].Split(new[] { ',' }); int columns = fields.GetLength(0); var dt = new DataTable(); //always assume 1st row is the column name. for (int i = 0; i < columns; i++) { dt.Columns.Add(fields[i].ToLower(), typeof(string)); } DataRow row; for (int i = 1; i < lines.GetLength(0); i++) { fields = lines[i].Split(new char[] { ',' }); row = dt.NewRow(); for (int f = 0; f < columns; f++) row[f] = fields[f]; dt.Rows.Add(row); } return dt; } } public class Team { public Team(string name, int against, int @for) { Name = name; Against = against; For = @for; } public string Name { get; private set; } public int Against { get; private set; } public int For { get; private set; } public int Difference { get { return (For - Against); } } } Output: Smallest difference in for' andagainst' goals TEAM: Boston, GOALS DIF: -34 Can someone please review my code and see anything obviously wrong here? They were only interested in the structure/design of the code and whether the program produces the correct result (i.e lowest difference). Much appreciated. • PHP or C# script to parse CSV table values to fill in one-to-many table

    - by Yaaqov
    I'm looking for an example of how to split-out comma-delimited data in a field of one table, and fill in a second table with those individual elements, in order to make a one-to-many relational database schema. This is probably really simple, but let me give an example: I'll start with everything in one table, Widgets, which has a "state" field to contain states that have that widget: Table: WIDGET =============================== | id | unit | states | =============================== |1 | abc | AL,AK,CA | ------------------------------- |2 | lmn | VA,NC,SC,GA,FL | ------------------------------- |3 | xyz | KY | =============================== Now, what I'd like to create via code is a second table to be joined to WIDGET called *Widget_ST* that has widget id, widget state id, and widget state name fields, for example Table: WIDGET_ST ============================== | w_id | w_st_id | w_st_name | ------------------------------ |1 | 1 | AL | |1 | 2 | AK | |1 | 3 | CA | |2 | 1 | VA | |2 | 2 | NC | |2 | 1 | SC | |2 | 2 | GA | |2 | 1 | FL | |3 | 1 | KY | ============================== I am learning C# and PHP, so responses in either language would be great. Thanks.

  • Business Object desgin

    - by Dan
    I have a question about how I setup my BO's. I setup the BO's to contain all of my properties of the object as well as the business logic to satisfy the business rules. I decided to make all of the methods static, but I'm not sure if that was the right decision. Someone told me to split my BO's into an Entity Object of just properties and then a BO of just methods that do business rules, and don't make the methods static. Does anyone have some experience with the way i've set this up? Any examples of how it might work better for future growth? Thanks!

  • Loop colours from variables for graphics.py [Python 3.2]

    - by user1056548
    I am creating a graphics program that draws 100 x 100 squares next to each other depending on the user-specified grid size. The user also inputs 4 colours for the squares to be coloured (e.g. if they enter red,green,blue,yellow the squares will be coloured in that order, repeating the colours). Is it possible to loop the colours from the variables the user has given? Here is what I have so far: def main(): print ("Please enter four comma seperated colours e.g.: 'red,green,blue,yellow'\n\ Allowed colours are: red, green, blue, yellow and cyan") col1, col2, col3, col4 = input("Enter your four colours: ").split(',') win = GraphWin ("Squares", 500, 500) colours = [col1, col2, col3, col4] drawSquare (win, col1, col2, col3, col4, colours) win.getMouse() win.close() def drawSquare(win, col1, col2, col3, col4, colours): for i in range (4): for j in range (len(colours)): colour = colours[j] x = 50 + (i * 50) circle = Circle (Point (x,50), 20) circle.setFill(colour) circle.draw(win) I think I should be using a list in some way, but can't work out exactly how to do it. Can anybody help?

  • Advanced search functionality

    - by Chris
    I have a website with a jQuery based autocomplete search functionality which works great. Currently though I have just one search box for all categories, what I want is for someone to be able to type in, say for example, dorian gray dvd (in any order) which will search for dorian gray within the dvd category. What this will require then is a bit of magic on the server side to figure out if any of the words are category keywords, and then limit the search by that. What is the best (and quickest) way to do this in PHP / MySQL? I currently have a few trains of thought Search the category table for matches and perhaps order the results by that. Or split up the search terms into an array and separately search the categories for that for a match. Another thought I just had is to concat the category title to the dvd title in the database and match against that, or something similar... but this sounds computationally expensive? Any advice?

  • PostgreSQL like + Hibernate problem

    - by Marat_Galiev
    Hi all. I want to do search in PostgreSQL for INTEGER based columns. if (!sSearch.isEmpty()) { sSearch = sSearch.replaceAll("[^a-zA-Z0-9]", "_").toLowerCase(); String[] search = sSearch.split(" "); sWhere = " "; for (NewsColumns column : NewsColumns.values()) { for (String s : search) { sWhere += "lower(" + column + "::TEXT) LIKE '%" + s + "%' OR "; } } sWhere = sWhere.substring(0,sWhere.length()-3); } Ok, I want to convert INT value to String before search, with '::TEXT' expression. But after executing I'm getting: org.hibernate.QueryException: Not all named parameters have been set: [:TEXT] [select * from news WHERE lower(ID::TEXT) LIKE '%5%' Exception. Looks like hibernate parse my convert exp as parameter. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • What is the maximum number of controls that a VBA form can hold?

    - by Lunatik
    I'm currently building an Excel 2003 app that requires a horribly complex form and am worried about limitations on the number of controls. It currently has 154 controls (counted using Me.Controls.Count - this should be accurate, right?) but is probably only about a third complete. The workflow really fits a single form, but I guess I can split it up if I really have to. I see evidence in a Google search that VB6 (this usually includes VBA) has a hard limit of 254 controls in a form. However, I created a dummy form with well over 1200 controls which still loaded and appeared to work just fine. I did get some 'out of memory' errors when trying to add specific combinations of controls though, say 800 buttons and 150 labels, leading me to think that any limit might be affected by the memory requirements of each type of control. Does anyone have any information that might help ensure that I or, more importantly, other users with differing environments don't run into any memory issues with such a large form?

  • MVVM and division of amongst multiple developers

    - by nlawalker
    Can anyone speak to the ease of dividing work amongst multiple developers when designing and building a medium- to large-complexity Silverlight or WPF application? My team is finding it difficult to cleanly split work when you've got, for example, a number of controls that provide different visualizations of a Model/ViewModel that's fairly complex and has a lot of properties and methods for interacting with data. It seems like a very big portion of the work ends up being the design and build of the Model/ViewModel, and much less inside each of the controls, which are naturally what are easy to ration out to multiple people.

    My problem is the page shows a vertical line of options. I want to put them into a 4 column table to display instead of just down lhs of page. The code I want to change is as follows: </tr> <tr> <td>{LOOP: JOBTYPE} IF("{JOBTYPE.parent_id}"!="0"){&nbsp; {:IF} IF("{JOBTYPE.catcount}"=="0"){<input type="checkbox" name="jobtype[{JOBTYPE.id}]" value="{JOBTYPE.id}" {JOBTYPE.selected}>{JOBTYPE.title}<br>{:IF} IF("{JOBTYPE.catcount}"!="0"){<strong>{JOBTYPE.title}</strong><br>{:IF} {/LOOP: JOBTYPE}</td> </tr> <tr> <td>&nbsp;</td> </tr> As you can see I have another column there and can split cell further but i would like the job list to be displayed accross the page not vertically. • n-grams from text in PostgreSQL

    - by harshsinghal
    I am looking to create n-grams from text column in PostgreSQL. I currently split(on white-space) data(sentences) in a text column to an array. select regexp_split_to_array(sentenceData,E'\s+') from tableName Once I have this array, how do I go about: Creating a loop to find n-grams, and write each to a row in another table Using unnest I can obtain all the elements of all the arrays on separate rows, and maybe I can then think of a way to get n-grams from a single column, but I'd loose the sentence boundaries which I wise to preserve. Sample SQL code for PostgreSQL to emulate the above scenario create table tableName(sentenceData text); INSERT INTO tableName(sentenceData) VALUES('This is a long sentence'); INSERT INTO tableName(sentenceData) VALUES('I am currently doing grammar, hitting this monster book btw!'); INSERT INTO tableName(sentenceData) VALUES('Just tonnes of grammar, problem is I bought it in TAIWAN, and so there aint any englihs, just chinese and japanese'); select regexp_split_to_array(sentenceData,E'\s+') from tableName; select unnest(regexp_split_to_array(sentenceData,E'\s+')) from tableName;

  • Complicated conditional SQL query

    - by DevAno1
    I'm not even sure if it's possible but I need it for my Access database. So I have following db structure : Now I need to perform a query that takes category_id from my product and do the magic : - let's say product belongs to console (category_id is in table Console) - from console_types take type_id, where category_id == category_id - but if product belongs to console_game (category_id is in table console_game) - from console_game take game_cat_id, where category_id == category_id I'm not sure if mysql is capable of such thing. If not I'm really f&%ranked up. Maybe there is a way to split this into 2,3 separate queries ?
