    Com frequência recebo e-mails de clientes com dúvidas sobre "quando sairá a próxima versão do Java?", ou então "quando vai expirar o Java?" ou ainda "quais as mudanças da próxima versão?". Qual a diferença entre o Oracle JDK e o OpenJDK?O projeto OpenJDK funciona como a implementação de referência Open Source do Java Standard Edition. Empresas como a Oracle, IBM, e Azul Systems suportam e investem no projeto OpenJDK para continuar evoluindo a plataforma Java. O Oracle JDK é baseado no OpenJDK, mas traz outras ferramentas como o Mission Control, e a máquina virtual traz algumas features avançadas como por exemplo o Flight Recorder. Até a versão 6, a Oracle oferecia duas máquinas virtuais: JRockit (BEA) e HotSpot (Sun). De todo modo, a cada novo update, a Oracle já informa quando que este update deverá expirar diretamente no release notes da versão. Por exemplo, no release notes da versão Oracle Java SE 7 update 55, está escrito na seção JRE Expiration Date o seguinte: The JRE expires whenever a new release with security vulnerability fixes becomes available. Critical patch updates, which contain security vulnerability fixes, are announced one year in advance on Critical Patch Updates, Security Alerts and Third Party Bulletin. This JRE (version 7u55) will expire with the release of the next critical patch update scheduled for July 15, 2014. For systems unable to reach the Oracle Servers, a secondary mechanism expires this JRE (version 7u55) on August 15, 2014. After either condition is met (new release becoming available or expiration date reached), the JRE will provide additional warnings and reminders to users to update to the newer version.   • Embedding ASPX in ASP page

    Hi all, I have an ASPX based component which I'd need to inlude into a plain ASP based script. Scenario is, that I'm working within an LMS system (Angel to be exact) and I wan't to create a new nugget within that framework. An Angel nugget is pretty much what a portlet is in the Java world. Now, the nugget spec. states that my starting point has to be a file called default.asp. What I'd like to do is: read relevant data from ASP session pass data to ASPX component have ASPX do it's job and display the results My problem is that I fail to run / display my ASPX component without using an iframe, which I want to avoid since that crushes the layout / design of my nugget. Is there a way to get this done properly or do I have to rewrite my component in ASP to get this going? Note: the component performs web service queries and such and I'd like to avoid rewriting that. thanks for your thoughts! K

  • How to pass an input value from a small form into a big form? (PHP, Javascript, URLs)

    I have a Wordpress website that needs to display a 3rd party newsletter signup form. This sign-up form has lots of fields and takes up its own full page. I want to display a simple "enter email address, hit submit" form at the top of every page. When the user hits submit, it should take them to the full form, where their email address is already pre-populated in the appropriate field. What's a good way to pass the input value from the short form to the long form? I'm inclined to use the URL somehow, but I've never approached it before. (My skills: expert XHTML/CSS. competent with WP theme hacking. comfortable enough with PHP and Javascript to move things around, but not enough to write them from scratch.) Thanks!

  • Build and render infinite hierarchical category tree from self-referential category table

    I have a Categories table in which each category has a ParentId that can refer to any other category's CategoryId that I want to display as multi-level HTML list, like so: <ul class="tree"> <li>Parent Category <ul> <li>1st Child Category <!-- more sub-categories --> </li> <li>2nd Child Category <!-- more sub-categories --> </li> </ul> </li> </ul> Presently I am recursively rendering a partial view and passing down the next category. It works great, but it's wrong because I'm executing queries in a view. How can I render the list into a tree object and cache it for quick display every time I need a list of all hierarchical categories?

    I have some data i want to add in to my app...about 650 categories (includes a name + id number), each with an average of 85 items (each with a name/id number). Will the iPhone support such a large plist? I want to first display the categories in a UITableView, when a category is selected I want to display all of the associated items. Having such a large plist, im not sure if the iPhone will lag when loading the items. At over 51,000 lines it seems like...it might.

  • Auto-scaffolding an "index" view in ASP.NET MVC

    I'm trying to write an auto-scaffolder for Index views. I'd like to be able to pass in a collection of models or view-models (e.g., IQueryable<MyViewModel>) and get back an HTML table that uses the DisplayName attribute for the headings (th elements) and Html.Display(propertyName) for the cells (td elements). Each row should correspond to one item in the collection. The <td> elements are not working because the Html in <%= Html.Display(property.DisplayName) %> contains the model for the view, which is a collection of items, not the item itself. Somehow, I need to obtain an HtmlHelper object whose Model property is the current item, but I'm not sure how to do that. How do I solve these two problems?

  • iPhone UIWebView: loadData does not work with certain types (Excel, MSWord, PPT, RTF)

    My task is to display the supported document types on an iPhone with OS 3.x, such as .pdf, .rtf, .doc, .ppt, .png, .tiff etc. Now, I have stored these files only encrypted on disk. For security reasons, I want to avoid storing them unencrypted on disk. Hence, I prefer to use loadData:MIMEType:textEncodingName:baseURL: instead of loadRequest: to display the document because loadData allows me to pass the content in a NSData object, i.e. I can decrypt the file in memory and have no need to store it on disk, as it would be required when using loadRequest. The problem is that loadData does not appear to work with all file types: Testing shows that all picture types seem to work fine, as well as PDFs, while the more complex types don't. I get a errors such as: NSURLErrorDomain Code=100 NSURLErrorDomain Code=102 WebView appears to need a truly working URL for accessing the documents as a file, despite me offering all content via the NSData object already. Here's the code I use to display the content: [webView loadData:data MIMEType:type textEncodingName:@"utf-8" baseURL:nil]; The mime-type is properly set, e.g. to "application/msword" for .doc files. Does anyone know how I could get loadData to work with all types that loadRequest supports? Or, alternatively, is there some way I can tell which types do work for sure (i.e. officially sanctioned by Apple) with loadData? Then I can work twofold, creating a temp unencrypted file only for those cases that loadData won't like. Update Looks like I'm not the first one running into this.     I have set up a function which returns an enum of the button that the user clicked in the ModalPopup. I have a variable of type enum to store which button the user clicks in the button click event. In this function, I call the ModalPopupExtender's Show() method. My problem is, the function finishes out and returns the default enum (which is "none" since no button was clicked yet) before the ModalPopup can be shown and store which button the user clicks. So without changing the function to a method and using a different way to store the user's button click, how can I pause the function after the Show() method of the MPE has been called and wait for the user to click a button? Edit(11/20/2009): Clarification: On the aspx page, I include a ScriptManager, PlaceHolder, and an asp:Button with a codebehind click event. What I want is to click the button, then in the click event handler, I want to call a custom static class function that returns a variable. One of the arguments it takes is the PlaceHolder. The function creates all the necessary controls in the PlaceHolder needed to display a ModalPopup. It calls the created ModalPopupExtender's Show() method. What should happen: At this point is the ModalPopup gets displayed, the user clicks a button, that button's event handler fires, the button sets a variable indicating that it was clicked, it then calls the ModalPopupExtender's .Hide() method, and then the function returns the variable that indicates which button was clicked. We then return to the event handler from the original button that was clicked and the programmer can then perform some logic based on what variable was returned. Crux: When the ModalPopupExtender's .Show() method gets called, it does not display the ModalPopup until AFTER the function returns a default variable (because no button was clicked yet) and after the event handler from the original button that was clicked ends. What I need: After the ModalPopupExtender's .Show() method is called, I need the ModalPopup to get displayed immediately and I need the function to wait for a button click to be made from the ModalPopup. My thoughts: Some PostBack needs to be made to the page telling it to update and display the ModalPopup Panel. Then maybe a while loop can be run in the function that waits for a button to be clicked in the ModalPopup.

    I'm wonder about best approach of implementation auth. rules in Client-Server app using Business Objects. I've noticed common tactic is: - on DB side: implement one role for application, used for all app's users - definition users right and roles and assign users to proper group - Client side: add to Business Object's getters/setters rights checker allowing write / display data for particular user My concern is if this is really good approach from security perspective. It looks DB sends all information to Client, and then client's logic decide what to display or not. So, potentially advanced user can make query from their box and see/change anything. Isn't it?

We know that WPF is a great UI technology and have the Concept of ItemsControl,DataTemplate, etc,etc to make great UX. Even WPF has got a more closely matching control- ListView, which can be easily templated to give better UX than a traditional Datagrid like display. And I would say a readymade DataGrid control will kill or hide a lot of creativity and it surely will decrease the innovations in User Experience field. So what is your opinion about the need of DataGrid in WPF as a Framework component? If you feel it is necessary then is it just because the world is so used to the DatGrid way of data display for many years?   • Asp.Net MVC does automatic model validation for DateTime but no others

    I'm using MVC 2 with some Models from a LinqToSql project that I built. I see that when I post back to a Controller Action after editing a form that has a DateTime field from the Model, the MVC Html.ValidationMessageFor() helper will nicely display an error beside the Date text box. This seems to happen automatically when the you test ModelState.IsValid() in the Controller Action, as if the MVC model binding automatically knows that the DateTime field cannot be empty. My question is... I have some other string fields in these LinqToSql generated classes that are Not-Nullable (marked as Not Nullable in Sql Server which passes thourgh to the LinqToSql generated classes), so why doesn't Mr. MVC pick up on those as well and display a "Required" message in the ValidationMessageFor() placeholders I have added for those fields? Sure, I have successfully added the MetadataType(typeof) buddy classes to cover these Non-nullable string fields, but it sure does seem redundant to add all this metadata in buddy classes when the LinqToSql generated classes already contain enough info that MVC could sniff out. It MVC validation works with DateTime automatically, why not these Not-nullable fields too?

    I'm having difficulty getting XQuery to work. I downloaded Saxon-HE 9.2. It seems to only want to work with XSLT. When I type: java -jar saxon9he.jar I get back usage information for XSLT. When I use the command syntax for XQuery, it doesn't recognize the parameters (like -q), and gives XSLT usage information.
