  • Strategy in storing ad-hoc numbers/constants?

    I have a need to store a number of ad-hoc figures and constants for calculation. These numbers change periodically but they are different type of values. One might be a balance, a money amount, another might be an interest rate, and yet another might be a ratio of some kind. These numbers are then used in a calculation that involve other more structured figures. I'm not certain what the best way to store these in a relational DB is - that's the choice of storage for the app. One way, I've done before, is to create a very generic table that stores the values as text. I might store the data type along with it but the consumer knows what type it is so, in situations I didn't even need to store the data type. This kind of works fine but I am not very fond of the solution. Should I break down each of the numbers into specific categories and create tables that way? For example, create Rates table, and Balances table, etc.?

  • Cannot export a fusionchart with 'Embedding Charts Using <OBJECT>/<EMBED> Tags'

    I am trying to export a fusion chart created using 'Embedding Charts Using / Tags'. Export works just perfect with the right click (on the chart) and chose a pdf to export. But I am not able to make this work via javascript.   • Facebook Stream.Get -- How to access data in array?

    On stream.get, I try to echo $feeds["posts"][$i]["attachment"]["href"]; It return the URL, but, in the same array scope where "type" is located (which returns string: video, etc), trying $feeds["posts"][$i]["attachment"]["type"] returns nothing at all! Here's an array through PHP's var_dump: http://pastie.org/930475 So, from testing I suppose this is protected by Facebook? Does that makes sense at all? Here it's full: http://pastie.org/930490, but not all attachment/media/types has values. It's also strange, because I can't access through [attachment][media][href] or [attachment][media][type], and if I try [attachment][media][0][type] or href, it gives me a string offset error.     my program is generating buttons from a mysql database.When one of the button is pressed, it would uplod the current time and the gps coordinate. Sadly, it only works if the same button is pressed twice, but its not an option, because the button has to dissappear.     Suppose I have a query that returns result like this: Project Year Type Amt PJ00001 2012 1 1000 PJ00001 2012 2 1000 PJ00001 2011 1 1000 PJ00002 2012 1 1000 What I want: Every Project will have 2 rows of Types for each Year. If the row is not there, add it to the result with Amt = 0. For example: - PJ00001 have 2 rows of type 1,2 in 2012 -- OK. But in 2011, it only have 1 row of Type 1 -- We add one row:PJ00001 2011 2 0 - PJ00002 have only 1 row of type 1 -- add:PJ00002 2012 2 0 Is there a way to easily do it. The only way I know now is to create a view like: PJ_VIEW. I got everything to work and it is deserialized perfectly (almost). The problem I have is with the random text mixed throughout the child nodes. The generated verse-unit objects gives me a list of objects (begin-line, begin-block-indent, etc), and also another list of string objects that represent the bits of string throughout the xml. I want to be able to search in the Products index.html.erb so a user selects a type from a drop down list, clicks search and all the products matching that type are returned. I can get normal search methods working where the user enters in their search in a text box but I cannot get it working when they just select from a dropdown. Can anyone help?

    Hi I hope someone can help me..... i am trying to build a dynamic form for a questionnaire module. Building on some previous posts I am using the process similar to that in question "http://stackoverflow.com/questions/629021/how-to-generate-a-formmxform-dynamically-in-flex" i have managed to prove out the fact of extending the XML to include a calendar, combobox etc. my problem is that now need to get the data from an ArrayCollection rather than from an xml file. There is a counter which I would like to increase the value of using jQuery (so that the page does not need to refresh) when the button is clicked.   • Shadowbox not working in IE

    Hi guys, I have a bit of a problem with my shadowbox, it works fine in FF, but it refuses to work in IE 7 or 8. I am using these scripts, <script type="text/javascript" src="scripts/jquery-1.4.2.js"</script> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="scripts/shadowbox/shadowbox.css"> <script type="text/javascript" src="scripts/shadowbox/shadowbox.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> Shadowbox.init(); </script> and I am also using this jQuery to assign the rel attribute to all the a tags inside of my calendar, and it works fine in FF, but not at all in IE. $(function() { $('#wp-calendar').find('a').each( function() { $(this).attr( 'rel', 'shadowbox[Mixed];width=520;height=390'); }); }); but for some reason it just refuses to work in any IE. I really am at the end of my rope here, any help would be appreciated, thanx!

    Guys i have the following oracle sql query that gives me the monthwise report between the dates. Basically for nov month i want sum of values between the dates 01nov to 30 nov. The table tha is being queried is residing in another database and accesssed using dblink. The DT columns is of NUMBER type (for ex 20101201) .The execution of the query is taking a day long and not completed. kindly suggest me , if their is any optimisation that can be suggested to my DBA on the dblink, or any tuning that can be done on the query , or rewriting the same.
