  • How to detect that azure application is running development fabric?

    How can I reliability detect whether my Azure application is running in development fabric and not in 'the cloud' ? RoleEnvironment.IsAvailable is true for both. I want something that is true in only one case. I'm asking this because I want users of my library to be able to use my library for free in dev fabric. Hence manually putting seperate identifier or flag in config file and keeping two configs for dev and deploy is not feasible.

    Short of using static IP addresses, is it possible to have a Cisco ASA use a DNS name rather than an IP address? For instance, if I want to limit a host in the DMZ to access only one particular web service, but that web service might be globally load balanced or using DynDNS or cloud, how can the ACL be expressed so that a fixed IP address isn't used and the admin doesn't have to keep opening and closing down IP addresses?

  • Pushing changes to a remote server from a locally started repo

    I started a new project and created a local git repo with "git init" and now I have a few branches and everything works great. However, since my webhosting company offers git hosting (details if you're curious), I'd like to push my entire repo to their servers to have a backup in the cloud in case something bad happens to my local repo. How can I make the remote repo the "origin" since the repo was started locally?

    I couldn't figure out how to cleanly do a tag cloud with JPA where each db entity can have many tags. E.g Post can have 0 or more Tags User can have 0 or more Tags Is there a better way in JPA than having to make all the entities subclass something like Taggable abstract class? Where a a Tag entity would reference many Taggables. thank you

  • Force download through markup or JS

    Lets assume I have a file on a CDN (Cloud Files from Rackspace) and a static html page with a link to that file. Is there any way I can force download this file (to prevent it from opening in the browser -- for mp3s for example)? We could make our server read the file and set the corresponding header to: header("Content-Type: application/force-download") but we have about 5 million downloads per month so we would rather let the CDN take care of that. Any ideas?

    I have a server runnning Red Hat Enterprise Linux v5.6 in the cloud. My project constraints do not allow me to use another OS. When I created the cloud server, I was able to SSH into it and access the shell. I next ran the command: sudo yum update But the command failed. All apps launch from 1 program, Word for example has this link: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\microsoft shared\Virtualization Handler\CVH.EXE" "Microsoft Word 2010 (Beta) 2014006204190000" Or OneNote: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\microsoft shared\Virtualization Handler\CVH.EXE" "Microsoft OneNote 2010 (Beta) 2014006204190000" Because of that I can't associate files with Office programs in file properties, they actually associate with “Microsoft Office Client Virtualization Handler” (CVH.EXE). Anyone know another way to do that?
