  I am trying to deploy the Duke's Bank example form the J2EE 5 tutorial on JBoss 7.1.1. I have only used (unaltered) the source, and the standard XML configuration files for deployment, part of the exercise here is to see how I might structure a JSP based project of my own.   I know this question is to some degree a matter of taste. I admit this is not something I don't understand, it's just something I want to hear others' opinion about. I need to write a method that takes two arguments, a boolean and a string. The boolean is in a sense (which will be obvious shortly) redundant, but it is part of a specification that the method must take in both arguments, and must raise an exception with a specific message text if the boolean has the "wrong" value. The bool must be true if and only if the string is not null or empty. So here are some different styles to write (hopefully!) the same thing. • Windows Phone 7 HttpRequest Unable to see true Error Code and response details

  I have to call a somewhat broken API from a Windows Phone 7 application. The API returns a 302 error and a cookie to the authentication request. I've tried every way I've been able to find in the MSDN documentation for using ClientHTTP instead of BrowserHTTP (registering the prefix, using the call to explicitly create a ClientHTTP using Request), but the 302 is getting translated to a 404 and I'm not seeing the cookies on the response. I've tried a WebClient, I've tried an HttpRequest and it is always the translated error message. If I allocate a CookieContainer for the HttpRequest, I get a null argument exception when the client stack is parsing the returned message. I can see that the response is coming back as expected via Fiddler.

  I added nose, django-nose, nose-exclude, coverage to my buildout.cfg and ran buildout. Furthermore I added the TEST_RUNNER and the NOSE_ARGS to my settings.py. In the last step I created a exclude_dirs.txt and included it into the NOSE_ARGS. That worked so far. Finally I ran bin/django testto run the tests of my project. I found out that every app inside INSTALLED_APP is run and that even parts of the django core models are run. How can I limit this to my project only without exernal packages?

• How to partition bits in a bit array with less than linear time

  This is an interview question I faced recently. Given an array of 1 and 0, find a way to partition the bits in place so that 0's are grouped together, and 1's are grouped together. It does not matter whether 1's are ahead of 0's or 0's are ahead of 1's. An example input is 101010101, and output is either 111110000 or 000011111. Solve the problem in less than linear time. Make the problem simpler. The input is an integer array, with each element either 1 or 0. Output is the same integer array with integers partitioned well. To me, this is an easy question if it can be solved in O(N). My approach is to use two pointers, starting from both ends of the array. Increases and decreases each pointer; if it does not point to the correct integer, swap the two. int * start = array; int * end = array + length - 1; while (start < end) { // Assume 0 always at the end if (*end == 0) { --end; continue; } // Assume 1 always at the beginning if (*start == 1) { ++start; continue; } swap(*start, *end); } However, the interview insists there is a sub-linear solution.   I am helping migrate a legacy application. One of the requirements is we are able to handle requests for old images. What we have is: New site on new.com Old site on old.com Images to links (imported content) point to /imgs/cat.png however the actual image is hosted on old.com/assets/images/cat.png (for now). <img src="/imgs/cat.png"/> I setup a redirect for all png, jpg, jpeg, gif that 302's requests for new.com/imgs/(.*).(png|jpg|jpeg|gif) to http://old.com/assets/images/$1.$2 Everything works find in Chrome, Firefox and IE9 - however it was noted in IE8 the image does not render. Its possible that it has the same issue in IE7, 6 and 5.5 however I have not been able to test this. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix? I tried setting the contentType header on the response of the 302's to image/(png|jpg|jpeg|gif) and this did not have any impact. Any insight would be appreciated.

• Using excel import wizard through code?

  I am creating a Generate Report button for some data in my application. The report will just generate a CSV file, which I then automatically launch in excel. Problem is with one of the data fields, is text and has leading zeroes (which I need to keep). When the file is automatically opened in excel, excel automatically trims these. Is there anyway I can get it so that it opens with the data in the format I want it. I know you achieve this normally by opening the CSV file from within excel and can do the import wizard. So one potential solution would be to auto open the import wizard when the app launches this file. I don't know if this is possible. Thanks for reading.
