    Hi If I have to choose between static method and creating an instance and use instance method, I will choose static methods always. but what is the detailed overhead of creating an instance? for example I saw a DAL which can be done with static classes but they choose to make it instance now in the BLL at every single call they call something like. new Customer().GetData(); how far this can be bad?   • Nested foreach loops for associative array combinations

    I have an associative array as follows: $myarray = array('a'=>array(), 'b'=>array(), 'c'=>array(), 'd'=>array()); I want to be able to get all pairs of elements in the array. If it wasn't an associative array, I would use nested for loops, like: for($i=0; $i<count($myarray); $i++) { for($j=$i+1; $j<count($myarray); $j++) { do_something($myarray[$i], $myarray[$j]); } } I have looked at using foreach loops, but as the inner loop goes through ALL elements, some pairs are repeated. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!

    Im just wondering how i use xmlencoder to serialize ArrayList where foo is my own made class. Do i have to do anything in particular, ie define my own xml structure first and then call toString on each value in my list and write it out? Can anyone point me to a good tutorial? http://java.sun.com/products/jfc/tsc/articles/persistence4/ Thats what i have been looking at but it doesnt seem to mention what to do with non library classes.   • Sorting 1000-2000 elements with many cache misses

    I have an array of 1000-2000 elements which are pointers to objects. I want to keep my array sorted and obviously I want to do this as quick as possible. They are sorted by a member and not allocated contiguously so assume a cache miss whenever I access the sort-by member. Currently I'm sorting on-demand rather than on-add, but because of the cache misses and [presumably] non-inlining of the member access the inner loop of my quick sort is slow. I'm doing tests and trying things now, (and see what the actual bottleneck is) but can anyone recommend a good alternative to speeding this up? Should I do an insert-sort instead of quicksorting on-demand, or should I try and change my model to make the elements contigious and reduce cache misses? OR, is there a sort algorithm I've not come accross which is good for data that is going to cache miss?

    Consider the following jsfiddle for reference: http://jsfiddle.net/apmmw2ma/ As you can see, the “inner” box (with the red border) is positioned relative to the outer’s padding-box: left:0 positions it just to the right of outer’s border, and top:100% appears to mean “100% of the content plus padding, but not the border”. Unfortunately, adding box-sizing: border-box to the outer div seems to have no effect. I want to position a child element directly below its parent’s border-box, i.e. the two borders should abut no matter how thick they are. Is this possible?

    All, I am not very good at explaining so i will let my comments do it! #this script is to calculate some of the times table up to 24X24 and also miss some out #Range of numbers to be calculated numbers=range(1,25) for i in numbers: for w in numbers: print(str(i)+"X"+str(w)+"="+str(i*w)) #here i want to break randomly (skip some out) e.g. i could be doing the 12X1,12X2 and then 12X5 i have no limit of skips. Update Sorry if this is not clear i want it to break from the inner loop for a random amount of times

  • In .NET, How do I separate xml from compiled resource file?

    We have a customer that would like to modify application user messages that we store in .resx files. I'm thinking this can't be done since the xml file behind the .resx is embedded in a compiled dll. Am I correct? Or, is there a way keep the xml outside of the compiled dll? I realize this can easily be done by other means but I like the ease of the resx file--the classes/properties are created for you.

  • C# some sort of plugin system

    Hi, I am a mobile web developer and trying to monetize my traffic with mobile ad services and i have a problem. First of all to get most of out of your ads you usually need to do server side request to advert company's servers and there are quite few ad services. Problem starts when you want to use them in one site. All have different approaches to server side calls and trying to maintain and implement those ad codes becomes pain after a while. So I decided to write a class system where i can simply create methods for every company and upload it to my site. So far i have public Advert class public AdPublisher class with GetAd method that returns an Advert public Adservice class that has Service names as enum I also have converted server request codes of all ad services i use to classes. It works ok but I want to be able to create an ad service class upload it so that asp.net app can import/recognize it automatically like a plugin system. As I am new to .net I have no idea where to start or how to do it.   • mysql update too slow when joining multiple tables

    Hi, I have two tables. they looks like as follows: Id (int) Tags char(128). the column Tags in table A does not have value. It is empty. The column Tags in table B has value. What I want to copy the Tags in table B to corresponding place of table A. the mapping is based on Id. My sql query is: update A INNER JOIN B set A.Tags = B.Tags where A.Id = B.Id There are about 2,000,000 rows in table A, and 50,000 rows in table B. The update seems very slow.... Could anyone tell me how to make it run faster?

    Hi, I need to get a list of users Ranking by points and from my command line (MySQL) is was able to generate the necessary code: SET @rank=0; SELECT rank, iduser, pontos FROM ( SELECT @rank:=@rank+1 AS rank, SUM(points.points) AS pontos, points.iduser, users.name, users.idade FROM points INNER JOIN users ON (points.iduser = users.id) WHERE (users.idade >= %s) AND (users.idade <= %s) GROUP BY points.iduser ORDER BY pontos DESC) AS totals WHERE iduser = %s The problem is that I need this to run on AMFPHP and I´ve tested it in a test PHP file and seems that I can´t use the SET and SELECT in the same "mysql_query". I´ve looked and some used to mysql_query to do this (I´ve tested it and it works), but can I trust this to be effective and error free? Does it work like in MySQL transactions or setting the @rank in a seperated query may cause unexpected results?

What i would like to do is place a value of 0 (Zero) instead of NULL. I want to do this because i have a calculated column in the same query whose formular depends on the LeaveDays returned and when LeaveDays is NULL, the formular some how fails. Is there away i can put 0 for NULL such that that i can get my desired result.
