    I have a method that takes params. Inside the method another variable shall be added to the output: private void ParamsTest(params object[] objs) { var foo = "hello"; // Invalid: Interpretes objs as single array parameter: Console.WriteLine("{0}, {1}, {2}", foo, objs); } When I call ParamsTest("Hi", "Ho"); I would like to see the output. hello Hi Ho What do I need to do? I can copy foo and objs into a new array and pass that array to WriteLine but is there a more elegant way to force objs to behave as params again? Kind of objs.ToParams()?

  • Exposing console apps to the web with Ruby

    I'm looking to expose an interactive command line program via JSON or another RPC style service using Ruby. I've found a couple tricks to do this, but im missing something when redirecting the output and input. One method at least on linux is to redirect the stdin and stdout to a file then read and write to that file asynchronously with file reads and writes. Another method ive been trying after googling around was to use open4.   • shell_exec syntax error. running in terminal directly is ok

    Having this command: $command = "diff -bBdH --ignore-all-space <(echo 'hi') <(echo 'hi1')"; echo $command; $result = shell_exec($command); On the screen I see: sh: 1: Syntax error: "(" unexpected diff -bBdH --ignore-all-space <(echo 'hi') <(echo 'hi1') If I copy-paste the second line from the console output into the terminal, the result would be correct. (Reproduced on another machine too). I'm missing something dead simple here and can't see what it is. besides, why is my output reversed? I'm clearly echoing the command before executing it, thus the syntax error of the shell should appear after the shell_exec

    In Visual Studio 2008 project properties, Application tab, I can set the Output type to Windows Application, Console Application, or Class Library. I have a project that I want to build as a stand-alone tool (console app) and be available to a couple other tools I'm working on as a class library. The VS GUI only lets me choose one or the other, and building the proj twice all the time is inconvenient. How can I set it up to build both output types in a single build job? Do I write some custom MSBuild .targets file or what?

My understanding is that dictionaries have values for each object. I'm not sure if I'm using the right terms.

    So basically what im trying to do is queue up tasks in a thread pool to be executed as soon as a worker becomes free, i have found various examples of this but in all cases the examples have been setup to use a new Worker instance for each job, i want persistent workers. Im trying to make a ftp backup tool, i have it working but because of the limitations of a single connection it is slow. What i ideally want to do is have a single connection for scanning directories and building up a file list then four workers to download said files.   • How can chunks be allocated in a node.js stream in object mode all at once?

    I can see how buffers, and strings can be sent as chunks, but I'm having a problem thinking about how streams can be dealt when working in object mode. Say I have a byte stream from an http request message. I want to take that message, parse, and then transform it into one big object. I already know how to parse the message. What I'm wondering is if the message is big so it has many chunks, but I want to make one object for the output how can I make sure the data event waits for the whole thing? Is this just a matter of not using the push method until the chunked data has finished being sent? That would then restrict the stream data output to a smaller object which I think I'm fine with for now. As an added condition the larger data will be reduced in size after the the transform.

  • "more" as a target of piped command breaks bash

    Consider following source, reduced for simplicity int main() { int d[2]; pipe(d); if(fork()) { close(1); dup(d[1]); execlp("ls", "ls", NULL); } else { close(0); dup(d[0]); execlp("cat", "cat", NULL); } } So it creates a pipe and redirects the output from ls to cat. It works perfectly fine, no problems. But change cat to more and bash breaks. The symptoms are: you don't see anything you type pressing "enter" shows up a new prompt, but not in a new line, but in the same one you can execute any command and see the output reset helps fixing things up. So there is a problem with input from keyboard, it is there, but is not visible. Why is that?

  • Best practices for parsing HTML from Wikipedia for iPhone viewing?

    I am building an iPhone Wikipeida game app, that requires modifying the default Wiki HTML a little bit (mostly simplifying the page). So far I am directly downloading the HTML output from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Article_Foo to a python Google App Engine, and then modify its CSS and HTML structure, cache it, and finally output to iPhone. It works but I find this method quite tedious, there must be a better method? Please note that I use App Engine not just for parsing the Wiki, but the game also requires it to keep the stores...etc, hence not a overkill. Also, I would prefer doing all the work with python on App Engine, to keep the iPhone client as thin and mobile as possible (XML on iPhone is a big no fun) Thanks a lot.

    I know that it is quite easy to figure out a terminal's size parameters via the stty -a command. When using local CLI PHP scripts, there is no problem at all on grabbing that output via system() or so. But I am trying the same thing via a php script started from an ssh command. Sadly, all that stty ever returns is: stty: standard input: Invalid argument. The calling code is: exec('stty -a | head -n 1', $query); echo $query[0]; So the question is: If I can output to the terminal and read input from it (e.g. can fread() from STDIN and fwrite() to STDOUT in PHP, shouldn't stty also have valid STDIN and STDOUT?

  • Request URL in Javascript, Fetch URL Content using Java Applet, return to Javascript?

    I'm in the process of making a little experiment, it grabs a YouTube page, and returns the highest quality MP4 link, then plays this in a HTML 5 Video element. Now I was using PHP with cURL to get the URL content (YouTube), but that only works on my local server (MP4 link is locked to IP address). I can't think of any other way to get the page content due to cross domain rules except a Java applet. So I've built a Java applet that should return the content of a URL.   • Maintain a variable value between program runs

    I have a simple c# console application that is scheduled after every 5 mins. Every invocation of the program requires the output of the last run. What I am doing right now is using a text file and store the result in it. next time when it runs it opens the text file and know the output of the previous run. Is there any other way to do it that wont require any such text file ? Like maintaining a session variable etc ?
