• What can you do in C without "std" includes? Are they part of "C," or just libraries?

  I apologize if this is a subjective or repeated question. It's sort of awkward to search for, so I wasn't sure what terms to include. What I'd like to know is what the basic foundation tools/functions are in C when you don't include standard libraries like stdio and stdlib. What could I do if there's no printf(), fopen(), etc? Also, are those libraries technically part of the "C" language, or are they just very useful and effectively essential libraries?

  I'm fairly new to OOP in PHP, I've made a couple of basic scripts but nothing impressive. All I've really taken from it is that it would probably be easier just make a collection of functions and include them. The structure of classes seems to just confuse what was otherwise a simple process. And in collating everything into a class it doesn't really add any functionality. So I'm clearly missing something.   A php script is giving this array (which has been passed through json_encode()) [{name:"a1",path:"b1"},{name:"a2",path:"b2"}] I use the following function to retrieve the array to jquery: $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "functions.php", data: "action=" + something, cache: false, success: function(response) { alert(response); } }); The problem is I get the array back as a string: (new String("[{name:"a1",path:"b1"},{name:"a2",path:"b2"}}]")) How can I get it to be a javascript array? Help would be much appreciated.

  Hi, on a Windows 2008 R2 server I have two small .cmd-scripts to start/stop a certain service. They look like this net start MyService and net stop MyService I want to execute these script via scheduled task, and I thought it would be best to create a local user for this job. The user is not member of the Administrators group. But the scripts fail with exit code 2. When I logon with this local user and try to execute these script in command line, I see a message like (maybe not exactly translated from german to english): Error code 5: Access denied It doesn't matter whether I start the command line as Administrator or not. How can this local user gain rights to do the job?

I've seen variables passed to functions like this: myFunction((void**)&variable); Which confuses the heck out of me cause all of those look familiar to me; I've just never seen them put together like that before. • Accessing PCI Device from user space programs

  I have a device which would be interface with my processor through pcie. I have written driver for it using the existing pci file operations. Now my problem is how do I access it from user space programs? PCI File operations do not have IOCTL support and hence I cant make an ioctl call unlike other char devices. I cannot use pci_config_read_byte etc. functions as they are meant for kernel space(included in linux/pci.h).

  Hi everybody, I am kind of new to mySQL:s union functions, at least when doing inserts with them. I have gotten the following to work based upon a example found on the net: INSERT INTO tableOne(a, b) SELECT a, $var FROM tableOne WHERE b = $var2 UNION ALL SELECT $var,$var Ok, nothing strange about that. But what happens when I want to insert a third value into the database that has nothing to do with the logic of the Select being done? Like : INSERT INTO tableOne(a, b, c ) How could that be done?

• C++ choose function by return type.

  I realize standard C++ only picks functions by argument type, not return type. I.e I can do something like: void func(int); void func(double); but not double func(); int func(); Where in the former, it's clear, in the latter, it's ambigious. Are there any extensions that lets me tell C++ to pick which function to use also by return type? Thanks!

  I am developing an application which may be hosted on a microsoft sql server, or on Azure SQL, depending upon the end user's wishes. My whole system works fine with the exception of some WCF functions which determine the last modification time of tables using the following technique: SELECT OBJECT_NAME(OBJECT_ID) as tableName, last_user_update as lastUpdate FROM mydb.sys.dm_db_index_usage_stats This query fails in Azure. Is there any analogous way to get table last modification dates from Azure's sql?

• Replace an Array with an Array

  I have and NSMutableArray and I want to replace it with another, but if I try to do it like this... firstArray = secondArray; ...then it seems to erase the entire firstArray and I get this error message.. Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: '*** -[NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (0) beyond bounds (0)' ...and the bounds should be (6) not (0). Is there a correct way to replace the array? PS: I already checked the secondArray and it functions fine.

• Can't browse computer via nlb cluster name

  I have a fileserver nlb cluster, currently set to single affinity, made up of 2 2008R2 servers. We switched the primary node today. Now our Windows XP workstations can't browse to the cluster name (i.e. \fileserver) but can browse to the cluster ip address (i.e. \192.168.1.1) and can browse the member server by name (i.e. \filesvr1). I remember having a similar issue when we had to change a registry setting to allow Windows XP boxes to see another file server that was in a failover cluster but had to be referred to by another name (\thisfileserver instead of \fileserver). Convoluted, for sure, but it helped to prevent any code changes from happening. Well all of the programmers have their code on \fileserver and we can't have them switch their links every time \filesvr1 supercedes \filesvr2 or vice versa. I can't remember that registry setting that allowed the file server to ignore that it's being called by the wrong name. HELP!
