  • Mod_rewrite with UTF-8 accent, multiviews , .htaccess

    Problem: with Mod_rewrite, multiview & Apache config Introduction: The website is in french and i had problem with unicode encoding and mod_rewrite within php wihtout multiviews Old server was not handling utf8 correctly (somewhere between PHP, apache mod rewrite or mysql) Updated Server to Ubuntu 11.04 , the process was destructive lost all files in var/www/ (the site was mainly 2 files index.php & static.php) lost the site specific .Htaccess file lost MySQL dbs lost old apache.conf What i have done so far: What works: Setup GNutls for SSL, Listen 443 = port.conf Created 2 Vhosts in one file for :80 and :443 = website.conf Enforce SSL = Redirecting :80 to :443 with a mod_rewrite redirect Tried to set utf-8 everywhere.. Set charset and collation , db connection , mb_settings , names utf-8 and utf8_unicode_ci, everywhere (php,mysql,apache) to be sure to serve files as UTF-8 i enabled multiview renamed index.php.utf8.fr and static.php.utf8.fr With multiview enabled, Multibytes Accents in URL works SSL TLS 1.0 What dont work: With multiview enabled , mod_rewrite works for only one of my rewriterules With multiview Disabled, i loose access to the document root as "Forbidden" With multiview Disabled, i loose Multibytes (single charater accent) The Apache Default server is full of settings.   • Windows 2003 GPO Software Restrictions

    We're running a Terminal Server farm in a Windows 2003 Domain, and I found a problem with the Software Restrictions GPO settings that are being applied to our TS servers. Here are the details of our configuration and the problem: All of our servers (Domain Controllers and Terminal Servers) are running Windows Server 2003 SP2 and both the domain and forest are at Windows 2003 level. Our TS servers are in an OU where we have specific GPO's linked and have inheritance blocked, so only the TS specific GPO's are applied to these TS servers. Our users are all remote and do not have workstations joined to our domain, so we don't use loopback policy processing. We take a "whitelist" approach to allowing users to run applications, so only applications that we approve and add as path or hash rules are able to run. We have the Security Level in Software Restrictions set to Disallowed and Enforcement is set to "All software files except libraries". What I've found is that if I give a user a shortcut to an application, they're able to launch the application even if it's not in the Additional Rules list of "whitelisted" applications. If I give a user a copy of the main executable for the application and they attempt to launch it, they get the expected "this program has been restricted..." message. It appears that the Software Restrictions are indeed working, except for when the user launches an application using a shortcut as opposed to launching the application from the main executable itself, which seems to contradict the purpose of using Software Restrictions. My questions are: Has anyone else seen this behavior? Can anyone else reproduce this behavior? Am I missing something in my understanding of Software Restrictions? Is it likely that I have something misconfigured in Software Restrictions? EDIT To clarify the problem a little bit: No higher level GPO's are being enforced. Running gpresults shows that in fact, only the TS level GPO's are being applied and I can indeed see my Software Restictions being applied. No path wildcards are in use. I'm testing with an application that is at "C:\Program Files\Application\executable.exe" and the application executable is not in any path or hash rule. If the user launches the main application executable directly from the application's folder, the Software Restrictions are enforced. If I give the user a shortcut that points to the application executable at "C:\Program Files\Application\executable.exe" then they are able to launch the program. EDIT Also, LNK files are listed in the Designated File Types, so they should be treated as executable, which should mean that they are bound by the same Software Restrictions settings and rules.

  • Why does my hackintosh freeze coming out of sleep?

    I put OSx 10.1 on a Dell Mini 10v and everytime it goes to sleep, it either will not emerge from the sleep or if it does it's frozen. Is there something that I should be doing that I'm not? I went into the boot settings and it's set to load off of the Hard Disk drive and not the USB.

    Is there a way to disable password policy in Windows Server 2008 using command prompt. I know how to do it using Local Security Policy in Administrative Tools. I was wondering if there is a way to change using command prompt. I guess there must be some registry settings that needs to be changed but I do not know which entry in registry will disable the password policy. If you can tell me which registry entry I can write the command prompt myself. Thanks

However, when I go to the connection settings, I only see USB and COM1 options. No option for ethernet.     Seriously, I'm lost in all that sales mumbo-jumbo. Let's say I want 1 or 2 users to be able to remotely log on to a server, run Word, Visual Studio, Firefox, and whatever. Do I gain anything at all if I install Remote Desktop Services? Or do I just install Desktop Experience feature pack, enable remote desktop and voila, nobody will ever notice the difference? Here's what TechNet says about Remote Desktop Session Host: A Remote Desktop Session Host (RD Session Host) server is the server that hosts Windows-based programs or the full Windows desktop for Remote Desktop Services clients. Users can connect to an RD Session Host server to run programs, to save files, and to use network resources on that server. Users can access an RD Session Host server by using Remote Desktop Connection or by using RemoteApp. The good old simple remote desktop can also host a full Windows desktop for remote clients so that they can run programs, save files and do all that stuff. Why do they write about it like it's such a great new invention, besides that they want to sell it? RDSH doesn't seem all that different at all. What do I install when I install RDSH, since all those features are already there in Windows? What's even more confusing is that you need to take special care when you want to install applications to an RDSH so that they will be usable by many concurrent users. Why? All the modern applications install the program files in one directory, store some common settings in the ProgramData folder and the HKLM hive, and store user specific settings in the Users folder and the HKCU hive. They are designed to be usable by many users on the same machine. 2 or 2000 users can use them concurrently without any efforts. I can sign in with 2 users to a server with only remote desktop enabled, and both of us can run Word or anything without any problems, can't we? So what changes if I set RDSH to install mode, or what happens if I don't? Why is the feature to switch between install and execute mode there at all? Yes I know of some advantages in Remote Desktop Services, like there's no 2 user limit, it supports virtualization, video acceleration and stuff, it has a whole infrastructure with gateway, web access, connection broker, etc. But I don't need those, so if you take these away, how are these two technologies different? From the articles it seems like they are completely different technologies, whereas it looks to me that they are completely the same at the core, and Remote Desktop Services just adds some additional features, but doesn't reinvent anything.

    To convert an MKV to AVI, I do two things. The first thing I do is this: ffmpeg -i filename.mkv -vcodec copy -acodec copy output.avi or this: ffmpeg -i filename.mkv -sameq -acodec copy output.avi Either of these will convert the MKV to an AVI, but the problem is that the video does not play smoothly for some reason. That's fine though, because if I do one more thing it gets fixed: ffmpeg -i output.avi -vcodec mpeg4 -b 4000k -acodec mp2 -ab 320k converted.avi After I do this then the file plays without problem. I had success doing it this way for one file, but then I tried it on another file, and there is a slight, but noticeable loss in video quality. The description says it syncs your Outlook email and calendar items with Google Apps, but doesn't using Outlook as an IMAP client against Google Apps do the same?

    I see the option in Visio 2003 to only trust macros stored in trusted locations, but I can't find any way to set up what these trusted locations are. My problem is I have a template file that's not signed in the VBA project but the VBA project is locked (so I can't just sign it myself). So, there are only two ways I can stop the warning: lower my security settings so anything with macros will run (not a good idea) Tell Visio that the template is in a trusted location (if this is even possible)

    My boss asked me to set up Google Apps for a client and basically I have done everything including setting up MX records in DirectAdmin and re-creating the email accounts in Google Apps. I also sent a few test emails to ensure that it actually works and it seems fine. But then I discovered this article talking about changing the SPF record for the domain. http://www.google.com/support/a/bin/answer.py?answer=178723 After reading the introduction I think it would be better for me to change the SPF record according to this article. So I logged in to the DirectAdmin and navigated to the DNS management, and then I found that there's already a TXT SPF record there: v=spf1 a mx a:spf.cabin.com.hk include:gmail.com -all And it looks like it's already including gmail.com, but according to the article it should be: _spf.google.com rather than: gmail.com I dare not to change it before I understand what this record actually means. What would you do with this record if you were me?

  • XP shared folders not accessible after BIOS changed

    Here's what worked for over a year: PC A runs Windows 7, PC B runs Windows XP. Both are on the same subnet behind a router. A uses user account X, but logs in to PC B using the Administrator account. PC B is a Dell Precision 470. A known problem with these is that sometimes when plugging in their power cable they somehow loses all BIOS settings. This happened yesterday. After this happens Windows won't boot, because the default BIOS setting is 'RAID ON' while there is no RAID configured. No problem though, changing the BIOS settings to 'RAID OFF' makes it boot without problems. Note that in the meantime, nothing config-related was changed on machine A. It wasn't even on. Indeed after doing this, everything is fine. Everything includes all normal operations, remote desktop from PC A to PC B, running Synergy between A and B, accessing shared folders from B to A. But accessing the shared folders on B from A does not work any more. I tried pretty much everything I found via Google (fiddling with policies/registry kes/...) but no avail. > ping -a 192.168.2.2 Pinging A [192.168.2.2] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 192.168.2.2: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128 > net view \\192.168.2.2 System error 5 has occurred. Putting the disk back into A, same problem remains. Why does this depend on hardware, and more important, on which hardware?
