  • Permissions changed after Mail.app and associated data crash

    Hi there, I experienced a major Mail.app crash on Snow Leopard couple of days ago. It took me hours to be able to make the folder structure usable again by Mail. I changed permissions back to 755 for all subfolders starting from and including ~/Library/Mail Mail now works again but settings such as folder order in the left side bar and mail ordered by date in some folders don't persist anymore. Any idea? Thxs for help

  • Compare two windows server 2008 R2 boxes (COM registration 32/64bits issue within IIS)

    I've got an issue where the same msi installed on a server 2008R2 box A instantiates correctly a COM dll, and not on the (seemingly) same box B. The installed application is a web application, hosted on IIS. Here's my question: Is there any tool around that is able to compare two boxes installations?     I can access my corp AD with SysInternals' "AdExplorer" with no problems. however, when I try to use generic LDAP browser (ldp.exe in my example) to access the same AD directory I can't get the required protocol/auth method. I think I have tried them all. what protocol/settings does AdExplorer use by default?

They have good reasons, but nevertheless I want to use it as my default. How can I set Google Chrome Canary as the default browser on Windows 8? I found numerous solutions online about previous Windows versions, all revolving around editing the registry, and unfortunately none of them were able to solve this for me.

  • OpenWRT LAN clients don't see each

    I'm a beginner at using OpenWRT but I'm loving it already. Everything is running fine (internet, wifi) on all clients except one thing: the computers running in my LAN don't see each other. Pings to them or between them gives "destination host unreachable". This happens when using either the machine's IP's or their assigned hostnames. Running Backfire 10.03.1 - default settings everywhere except of course for the specific ISP stuff in the WAN. What's going on?

When I clisk "send" I get "Please check the current user mailid. It should be a valid mailid to send Emails". But I configured everything!!! HELP!!!!

  • How to stop access to file while it is being uploded by FTP on Windows server 2008

    I'm using FTP 7.5 on Windows 2008 R2. When I upload a file and it is partially uploaded I'm able to move it before it has completed. Is there a way to stop this? I see an option under Advanced settings-Behaviour-File Handling-Allow reading files while uploading but this doesn't seem to do the trick. I guess it's write access that I need to stop. It seemed to have this functionality by default on IIS6.

  • How do I make everything open in the internal editor in eclipse

    I'm using Galileo and plenty of file types work just fine (java, txt) but others open in an external editor. Double clicking on a .sh opens it in emacs. Double clicking on a .py opens bluefish. What sort of madness is this and how do I stop it? I don't want to make an association for each type explicitly; I just want everything to open in the internal editor by default (or preferably Eclim, but that's another issue). Any ideas?

I could follow all the steps, but the supposedly successfully published software does not appear on client/user machine's Add/Remove Programs. Could some help figure why this may not be working. We've noticed a single Cryptographic error in our logs that occurs whenever a page loading content from the first farm is accessed. Is there any reason to not give all of the servers in both farms the same machineKey settings?

    I recently installed a utitlity for Windows (ASUS Ai Charger) which modifies the USB ports on the computer to output more power (for charging iPads, etc). The problem is, I believe it is also giving more power to my keyboard and trackpad. And now, neither devices are working at all, yet they work on Mac OS X. So does anyone know the amount of power MacBook Pro (2007) keyboards and trackpads use, and how I can set these settings in Windows 7?

  • Virtual Hard Drive not booting - VMWare

    I have a .vmdk (VMWare hard disk) file that I cannot use as the lone disk in a new virtual machine. If I attach it to an existing virtual machine then it works fine. It has Windows Server 2003 on it. When I attempt to boot the new VM it attempts a network boot. EDIT: VMWare Workstation 6.5 I could not find a PXE option in the settings, and I did look in the VM config file for "PXE" but did not find one.

    I have a pair of x25-M 160 Intel SSD's in an HP DL360 G5 with a p400i Smart Array running 512 BBWC. The disk performance I am getting on this box and another identical one does not come close to matching the same two drives running through a cheap 3ware RAID card. Any idea? I have played with the cache settings, but nothing allows me to get the same results. It seems like the Smart Array controller is the bottleneck.

    My Windows NT account name was changed, and when starting PuTTY it now appears that my saved session information has been lost. The FAQ suggests that PuTTY sessions should be stored in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SimonTatham\PuTTY. Wikipedia explains that HKCU maps to NTUSER.DAT and USRCLASS.DAT under the current user's Desktop and Settings folder. I still have these files for my old account name, but I'm guessing there is no easy way to extract data from these files?

    In windows XP, you can add a shortcut to the start menu or desktop for all users by copying/moving the shortcut to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users[Desktop|Start Menu] I know same is the case in Windows 7 with a slightly different path (C:\Users\Public). However I'm still trying to find out how to add a 'shortcut' for all users. There is no C:\Users\Public\Taskbar. Any ideas? Or is it just not available as a feature?

It shows my settings for my local IIS and everything I've tried from clicking various places on the connections panel, changing the address in the address bar and checking the various menubar menus none seem to offer connect to another machine.

  • Ubuntu (9.1) behind a ISA proxy

    I have set up a Ubuntu PC on a next work that is behind a ISA Proxy. When I run the command sudo apt-get update I get several messages with this message: 502 Proxy Error (The ISA Sever denied the specified Uniform Resource Locator) The computer can see the internet and adding the proxy settings in the Network Preferences does not help. When I do a ifconfig Im on a 192 address which is not the usual subnet our PCs are on. Any ideas?
