  • Two Way Sync of folder on PC to USB Thumb Drive over the internet.

    - by Tim Santeford
Before flagging as duplicate please note that other similar posts do not have the same criteria below. Thanks Im looking for an app that will let me automatically sync a usb drive with a folder on my home system over the internet. I would like to roam from computer to computer and run this syncing app from the usb drive. Im looking for the same functionally as DropBox but without the 2gb restriction and without the need to fully install. Two Way sync between a usb drive and pc over the net Utilizes the full size of the usb drive not limited by an online storage size. (I dont need online backup or versioning) Allows the removal of the usb drive, Plugging it in to another computer will resume its sync. While the drive is connected the app should run silently keeping changed files in sync. (I dont want to run a manual process other than simply starting the app) Must be able to run as a portable app from the usb drive but can fully install on home pc. Window 7 Support is preferable. Please let me know if such and awesome app exists. TIA!

  • How can I extend / create a new partition from the following setup?

    - by Kiada
I'm a little unsure what to do in this situation. When I try to create a new simple volume from the unallocated space I get an error because I already have 4 partitions. I have no option to extend either my C:\ primary partition or the E:\ logical drive. C:\ - Gaming Win7 install. D:\ - Storage Unallocated Space - Would somehow like to install OSX on a partition from this space. E:\ - Software Development Win7 install. I:\ - Ignore this. It's an external 1TB HDD. Do I have any options that do not involve formatting / losing information on either C:\ or E:\? Thank you. Link to visual disk partitioning setup image. Edit: A bit more information regarding partitions. Firstly, the image linked above is a screenshot of Windows 7 partitioning tool, easier to read than text I guess! H:\ System Reserved: 100MB NTFS C:\ 244 GB NTFS Healthy (Page File, Primary Partition) D:\ 294 GB NTFS Healthy (Primary Partition) E:\ 100 GB NTFS Healthy (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Logical Drive) Unallocated 292 GB Hope this helps :)

  • MySQL InnoDB/socket issue on Mac OS X 10.6.4

    - by user55217
I have an ongoing issue on my Macbook Pro OS X 10.6.4. Intermittently, my MySQL install will not create a socket on startup. Rebooting sometimes, but not always, solves the problem. Deleting the ib* files in /usr/local/mysql/data and then restarting sometimes, but not always, solves the problem. My error logs tell me the following: Plugin InnoDB init function returned error Plugin InnoDB registration as a STORAGE ENGINE failed Can't start server: Bind on TCP/IP port: Address already in use Do you already have another mysqld server running on port: 3306? Aborting It then appears to attempt to start again and generates this error 20 - 30 times: Unable to lock ./ibdata1, error 35 Check that you do not already have another mysqld process using the same InnoDB data or log files Though the socket file is not created, I can connect to my MySQL db directly over localhost. Although, this does not help me from a PHP standpoint. Any thoughts on what I can do to resolve the issue or debug further? I'm at a loss as to where to go from here.

  • BYOD (accessing files) on a domain without joining?

    - by Philip White
I run a Samba 4 instance at a small private school. This makes a regular Linux server appear as a directory controller. There are two relevant benefits to this: I have a Samba share for people's documents, and I use the Redirected Folders feature to allow any employee to sit down at any PC, log in with their domain credentials, and their My Documents points to network storage. Everyone has a mapped drive (using Group Policy Preferences) to a share specific to their account type. Students can access one share (one share for all students), teachers have another, and office staff have another. However, I would like to allow BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). Some employees are already asking for it with their personal laptops, and I know eventually most everyone will want to. Is there any way to replicate the two features above without having to join PCs to the domain? Joining personal PCs is impractical if only because only professional editions of Windows support this. Ideally, any operating system (including mobile) could access the relevant shares, but of course Windows is key. Offline caching is optional. (I could set up OpenVPN for teachers who want to access their files from home.) The problem with simply giving SSH access to the relevant shares is primarily that Samba 4 relies on ext4 ACLs and ext4 extended attributes to maintain NTFS permissions. Writing files directly to the Linux server would bypass this and would (probably) not be interoperable with Samba4. Right now I am completely flexible. I am even fine with scrapping the whole domain and using some other software for the two features above. How can I allow school employees and students freedom to securely share files without requiring everyone to have specific editions of Windows?

  • UISearchBar and UINavigationItem

    - by tbehunin
I can't seem to get a UISearchBar to position itself from the far left to the far right in the navigation bar. In the -(void)viewDidLoad method, I have the following code: `UISearchBar *sb = [[UISearchBar alloc] initWithFrame:self.tableView.tableHeaderView.frame]; sb.delegate = self; self.navigationItem.titleView = sb; [sb sizeToFit]; [sb release];` When you build and run, it looks just fine at first glance. However, looking more closely, you can tell there is a margin/space on the left. This wouldn't be a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but when I tap the search bar to start a search, I animate the cancel button into view. Because the search bar is positioned slightly to the right, the animation is jerky and the cancel button falls off the end like so: link text It seems as if the UINavigationItem is like a table with three cells, where there is a padding on the first and last which I can't remove - nor does there seem to be a way to 'merge' it all together and then place the search bar there. I know this look is possible, because the AppStore search has a search bar in the navigation bar and it goes all the way to the edges. Anyone know how to get the search bar to go all the way to the edges so my slide-in cancel button animation will work properly?

  • C# StreamReader.ReadLine() - Need to pick up line terminators

    - by Tony Trozzo
I wrote a C# program to read an Excel .xls/.xlsx file and output to CSV and Unicode text. I wrote a separate program to remove blank records. This is accomplished by reading each line with StreamReader.ReadLine(), and then going character by character through the string and not writing the line to output if it contains all commas (for the CSV) or all tabs (for the Unicode text). The problem occurs when the Excel file contains embedded newlines (\x0A) inside the cells. I changed my XLS to CSV converter to find these new lines (since it goes cell by cell) and write them as \x0A, and normal lines just use StreamWriter.WriteLine(). The problem occurs in the separate program to remove blank records. When I read in with StreamReader.ReadLine(), by definition it only returns the string with the line, not the terminator. Since the embedded newlines show up as two separate lines, I can't tell which is a full record and which is an embedded newline for when I write them to the final file. I'm not even sure I can read in the \x0A because everything on the input registers as '\n'. I could go character by character, but this destroys my logic to remove blank lines. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to align Buttons in a TableLayout to different directions?

    - by Bevor
    Hello, probably I don't understand the layout properties of TableLayout yet. It doesn't seem to be possible to achieve such a flexible table like in HTML, because there are no cells. My target is it to achieve such a layout: Link to draft How can I do that? I thought about using a GridView but this doesn't seem to be useful in XML. My efforts look like this: <TableLayout android:id="@+id/tableLayout" android:layout_width="320sp" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_gravity="center_horizontal" android:gravity="bottom" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"> <TableRow android:background="#333333" android:gravity="bottom" android:layout_width="fill_parent"> <Button android:id="@+id/btnUp" android:layout_width="60sp" android:layout_height="50sp" android:gravity="left" android:text="Lift U" /> <Button android:id="@+id/btnScreenUp" android:gravity="right" android:layout_gravity="right" android:layout_width="60sp" android:layout_height="50sp" android:text="Scrn U" /> </TableRow> <TableRow android:background="#444444" android:gravity="bottom" android:layout_gravity="right"> <Button android:id="@+id/btnDown" android:layout_width="60sp" android:layout_height="50sp" android:text="Lift D" /> <Button android:id="@+id/btnScreenLeft" android:layout_width="60sp" android:layout_height="50sp" android:gravity="right" android:layout_gravity="right" android:text="Scrn L" /> <Button android:id="@+id/btnScreenDown" android:layout_width="60sp" android:layout_height="50sp" android:gravity="right" android:layout_gravity="right" android:text="Scrn D" /> <Button android:id="@+id/btnScreenRight" android:layout_width="60sp" android:layout_height="50sp" android:gravity="right" android:layout_gravity="right" android:text="Scrn R" /> </TableRow> </TableLayout>

  • Reading excel files with xlrd

  • Why does Adding Core Animation slow down drawing of my NSTableView?

    - by Will Goring
I have a simple App that displays a list of items using NSTableView. There are usually about 15-25 items in the list, and the table has 10 columns, all but one of which are text (the other's an icon.) There are simple data transformers on a couple of the columns. So nothing taxing; you'd expect it to run just fine. And as it stands, it is; the app is responsive and everything draws pretty much instantly. Scrolling, changing column sizes, resizing the window; whatever you do the redraws keep up with the mouse-pointer. Tonight, I thought I'd try adding a little visual flair to the app with Core Animation (which I've never used before,) but I've found that if anything above the NSTableView in the hierarchy is set 'Wants Core Animation Layer,' then the NSTableView redraws go to hell. Scrolling is usually fine, but resizing columns or the window causes it to pick up an effect like texture tearing, where some of the rows have the new size, and some have the old one, and everything flickers horribly. It looks terrible. Basically it looks like what you'd expect if rendering the individual rows or columns was taking a long time. I've put it through Shark and, sure enough, it looks like it's spending most of its time drawing the text in the cells; what I don't understand is why that should take longer when there's a Core Animation layer involved than when there isn't - and quite noticeably longer at that. Has anyone got any ideas? Is there any Core Animation initialisation or config I've missed or something (I've literally just ticked the "Wants Core Animation Layer" box in IB)? Cheers, Will

  • Changing size of content in HorizontalScrollView when phone is rotated by overriding onConfiguration

    - by Emil Arfvidsson
Hello I have a problem with resizing content in a HorizontalScrollView when the phone is rotated. I'm overriding onConfigurationChanged in my activity containing the HorizontalScrollView, since I want to handle the resizing myself. However, I'm having great problem finding where i should put the resizing of the content. The HorizontalScrollView it self has FILL_PARENT as width and a fixed height. The idea is that it should always fill the screen width-wise, while having several cells of content, each as wide as the HorizontalScrollView itself. The content in my HorizontalScrollView consists of one LinearLayout (let's call it wrapperLayout) with several LinearLayouts inside it. When the phone rotates I simply want to change the width of all the LinearLayouts inside the wrapperLayout. This is easy to do and works great when I test the resizing code by putting it in onInterceptTouchEvent(MotionEvent ev), that is the views are resized just as they are supposed to when I touch the HorizontalScrollView. The difficulty appears when I try to find a good spot to execute resizing code, so that the resizing happens automatically when the phone is rotated. I have tried all possible combinations of requestLayout, onSizeChanged, onLayout, onConfigurationChanged and a few others and varying their calls to super (if any) before and after the resizing code. I can not make this work (the views are not resized even though the resize code is executed) and it is really frustrating. I've done a lot of logging to make sure the HorizonalScrollView really has changed width before calling my resize code but to no avail. Does anyone have any clue as to what is going on? What methods are called and in what order when I handle the onConfigurationChanged by myself like this? Thanks in advance

  • cellForRowAtIndexPath not being called on tableView reloadData

    - by BotskoNet
I have a UITableView on one view that loads in data at the start of the application, and then later when a user enters text into a box and hits a button, I re-query the database, re-populate the original NSMutableArray that stores the data for the table. All of that is working perfectly. In some logging statements I can tell that the array has the correct information, the numberOfRowsInSection method is returning the proper count, and is being called after the reload is called. However, the cellForRowAtIndexPath is never called the second time (after the reload) and the table data is never updated. I've spent hours searching the net and I've found nothing that helps. Can anyone help? All code is at: http://github.com/botskonet/inmyspot The specific reload is being called at: http://github.com/botskonet/inmyspot/blob/master/Classes/InMySpotViewController.m Roughly Line 94 From: http://github.com/botskonet/inmyspot/blob/master/Classes/PlateFormViewController.m Roughly line 101 A bit more info: once the new data has been added to the mutablearray, if I try to start scrolling the table, it eventually dies with: "Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: '* -[NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (29) beyond bounds (29)'" Which I assume means the table cells can't find any data in the array to match the scroll position, which seems to be because the array has the new data, but the table doesn't.

  • How do I deselect grid row when grouping in David Poll's silverlight CollectionPrinter

    - by kpg
I'm using David Poll's CollectionPrinter and modifications by Fama to perform grouping. I'm using the control to print a datagrid with grouping and it works well if not a little slow. Problem: When the grid is displayed the first row of the grid is selected and the first cell of the row is also selected. I want to either deselect the row or change the datagrid template to make selected rows/cells appear as not selected. I tried to specify a grid template to change the row/cell selection appearance but when I added the default template I got a COM error of all things - anyway I concluded that what I was doing was not compatible with the SLab libraries, or perhaps because the grid was specified in a datatemplate. In any case I abandoned that approach. Since I have the SLab source if I understood it more there may be a way to deselect the row after from that side of things - but I know the SLaB CommectionPrinter does not rely on the data template to be a grid, so I'm not sure how to modify the code to accomplish what I want. Question: How can I prevent the row from being selected or deselect it once it is or change the appearance of the selectd row when using the CollectionPrinter with grouping? Note that the row selection problem may occur without grouping as well, I don;t know, but it definatly does with grouping.

  • ASP.net access controls dynamically

    hey all, i have a table which looks similar to this <asp:TableRow><asp:TableCell>Question 1</asp:TableCell><asp:TableCell ID ="Question1Text"></asp:TableCell></asp:TableRow> <asp:TableRow><asp:TableCell ColumnSpan="2"> <asp:RadioButtonList ID="RadioButtonList1" runat="server"><asp:ListItem>Yes</asp:ListItem><asp:ListItem>No</asp:ListItem> </asp:RadioButtonList> </asp:TableCell></asp:TableRow> <asp:TableRow><asp:TableCell> <asp:TextBox ID="TextBox1" TextMode="MultiLine" runat="server"></asp:TextBox></asp:TableCell></asp:TableRow> <asp:TableRow><asp:TableCell>Question 2</asp:TableCell><asp:TableCell ID ="Question2Text"></asp:TableCell></asp:TableRow> <asp:TableRow><asp:TableCell ColumnSpan="2"> <asp:RadioButtonList ID="RadioButtonList2" runat="server"><asp:ListItem>Yes</asp:ListItem><asp:ListItem>No</asp:ListItem> </asp:RadioButtonList> </asp:TableCell></asp:TableRow> <asp:TableRow><asp:TableCell> <asp:TextBox ID="TextBox2" TextMode="MultiLine" runat="server"></asp:TextBox></asp:TableCell></asp:TableRow> i want to be able to systematically acces table cells with ID's for example for (int i = 1; i<3 ; i++) { // i want to be able to access the table cell with the ID Question1Text then Question2Text and so on } is this even possible ??

  • Creating Drill-Down Detail UITableView from JSON NSDictionary

    - by Michael Robinson
    I'm have a load of trouble finding out how to do this, I want to show this in a UITableDetailView (Drill-Down style) with each item in a different cell. All of the things I've read all show how to load a single image on the detail instead of showing as a UITableView. Does the dictionary have to have "children" in order to load correctly? Here is the code for the first view creating *dict from the JSON rowsArray. I guess what I'm looking for is what to put in the FollowingDetailViewController.m to see the rest of *dict contents, so when selecting a row, it loads the rest of the *dict. I have rowsArray coming back as follows: '{ loginName = Johnson; memberid = 39; name = Kris; age = ;}, etc,etc... Thanks, // SET UP TABLE & CELLS - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleSubtitle reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } NSDictionary *dict = [rowsArray objectAtIndex: indexPath.row]; cell.textLabel.text = [dict objectForKey:@"name"]; cell.detailTextLabel.text = [dict objectForKey:@"loginName"]; cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryDisclosureIndicator; return cell; } - (void)viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewDidAppear:animated]; - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; //GET JSON FROM WEBSERVICES: NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:@"http://10.0.1.8/~imac/iphone/jsontest.php"]; NSString *jsonreturn = [[NSString alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:url]; NSData *jsonData = [jsonreturn dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF32BigEndianStringEncoding]; NSError *error = nil; NSDictionary * dict = [[CJSONDeserializer deserializer] deserializeAsDictionary:jsonData error:&error]; if (dict) { rowsArray = [dict objectForKey:@"member"]; [rowsArray retain]; } [jsonreturn release]; } //GO TO DETAIL VIEW: - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { FollowingDetailViewController *aFollowDetail = [[FollowingDetailViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"FollowingDetailView" bundle:nil]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:aFollowDetail animated:YES]; }

  • Nesting gridview/formview in webuser control inside a parent gridview

    - by Stuart
Hi, I'm developing an ASP.net 2 website for our HR department, where the front page has a matrix of all our departments against pay grades, with links in each cell to all the jobs for that department for that grade. These links take you a page with a gridview populated dynamically, as each department has a different number of teams, e.g. Finance has one team, IT has four. Each cell has a webuser control inserted into it. The user control has a sql datasource, pulling out all the job titles and the primary key, popuating a formview, with a linkbutton whose text value is bound to the job title. (I'm using a usercontrol as this page will also be used to show the results of a search of all roles in a range of grades for a department, and will have a varying number of rows). I've got everything to display nicely, but when I click on the linkbutton, instead of running the code I've put in the Click event, the page posts back without firing any events. Having looked around, it looks like I have to put an addhandler line in somewhere, but I'm not sure where, could anyone give me some pointers please? (fairly numpty please, I'm not too experience in ASP yet and am winging it. I'm also using VB but C# isn't a problem) This is how I'm inserting the controls into the parent grid, have I missed anything obvious? For row As Int16 = 0 To dgvRoleGrid.Rows.Count - 1 tempwuc = New UserControl tempwuc = LoadControl("wucRoleList.ascx") tempwuc.ID = "wucRoleList" & col.ToString tempwuc.EnableViewState = True dgvRoleGrid.Rows(row).Cells(col).Controls.Add(tempwuc) CType(dgvRoleGrid.Rows(row).FindControl(tempwuc.ID), wucRoleList).specialtyid = specid CType(dgvRoleGrid.Rows(row).FindControl(tempwuc.ID), wucRoleList).bandid = dgvRoleGrid.DataKeys(row)(0) CType(dgvRoleGrid.Rows(row).FindControl(tempwuc.ID), wucRoleList).familyid = Session("familyid") Next

  • Preserving Language across inline Calculated Members in SSAS

    - by Tullo
Problem: I need to retrieve the language of a given cell from the cube. The cell is defined by code-generated MDX, which can have an arbitrary level of indirection as far as calculated members and sets go (defined in the WITH clause). SSAS appears to ignore the Language of the specified members when you declare a calculated member inline in the query. Example: The cube's default locale is 1033 (en-US) The cube contains a Calculated Measure called [Net Pounds] which is defined as [Net Amt], language=2057 (en-GB) The query requests this measure alongside an inline calculated measure which is simply an alias to the [Net Pounds] When used directly, the measure is formatted in the en-GB locale, but when aliased, the measure falls back to using the cube default of en-US. Here's what the query looks like: WITH MEMBER [Measures].[Pounds Indirect] AS [Measures].[Net Pounds] SELECT { [Measures].[Pounds Indirect], [Measures].[Net Pounds] } ON AXIS (0) FROM [Cube] CELL PROPERTIES language, value, formatted_value The query returns the expected two cells, but only uses the [Net Pounds] locale when used directly. Is there an option or switch somewhere in SSAS that will allow locale information to be visible in calculated members? I realise that it is possible to declare the inline calculated member in a particular locale, but this would involve extracting the locale from the tuple first, which (since the cube's member is isolated in the application's query schema) is unknown.

  • Putting JComboBox into JTable

    - by Dan
    Hi, I want to put individual JComboBoxes into each cells of a JTable. ie. The JComboBox content is not identical for each cell. I basically would like to be able to just call the following code to add a row of JComboBox into the JTable. Anyone has any idea? Thanks JComboBox cb1 = new JComboBox(...); JComboBox cb2 = new JComboBox(...); model.addRow(new Object[] {"Row name", cb1, cb2} ); JComboBox cb3 = new JComboBox(...); JComboBox cb4 = new JComboBox(...); model.addRow(new Object[] {"Row name 2", cb3, cb4} ); This is the resultant view if I do the above. http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/a6292e08ee.png The closest example code I can find is as follows. But it is for where JComboBox content is identical for the individual column. Not the solution I need. TableColumn col = table.getColumnModel().getColumn(vColIndex); col.setCellEditor(new MyComboBoxEditor(values)); where public class MyComboBoxEditor extends DefaultCellEditor { public MyComboBoxEditor(String[] items) { super(new JComboBox(items)); } }

  • WPF DataGrid HeaderTemplate Mysterious Padding

    - by Jake Wharton
I am placing a single button with an image in the header of a column of a DataGrid. The cell template is also just a simple button with an image. <my:DataGridTemplateColumn> <my:DataGridTemplateColumn.HeaderTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Button ToolTip="Add New Template" Name="AddNewTemplate" Click="AddNewTemplate_Click"> <Image Source="../Resources/add.png"/> </Button> </DataTemplate> </my:DataGridTemplateColumn.HeaderTemplate> <my:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Button ToolTip="Edit Template" Name="EditTemplate" Click="EditTemplate_Click" Tag="{Binding}"> <Image Source="../Resources/pencil.png"/> </Button> </DataTemplate> </my:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> </my:DataGridTemplateColumn> When rendered, the header has approximately 10-15px of padding on the right side only which causes the cells to obviously render at that width leaving the cell button having empty space on both sides. Being a pixel-perfectionist this annoys the hell out of me. I had initially thought that it was space for the arrows displayed when sorted but I have sorting disabled on both the entire DataGrid and explicitly on the column. Here's a image: I assume this is padding form whatever is the parent element of the button. Does anyone know a way to eliminate it?

  • autoresizingMask changes the size of the UILabel being drawn, just by being set

I have some custom UITableViewCells that are made programmatically as needed, I want these to resize. However, when I add autoresizingMasks to the UILabels in the cells, they all seem to stretch wider while anchoring to the left side. // This works fine UILabel *aField = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(60, 2, tableView.frame.size.width - 83, 21)]; UILabel *bField = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(60, 20, tableView.frame.size.width - 154, 21)]; UILabel *cField = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 2, tableView.frame.size.width, 21)]; UILabel *dField = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(tableView.frame.size.width - 116, 11, 93, 21)]; UILabel *eField = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(tableView.frame.size.width - 116, 11, 93, 21)]; // But when I add this, it draws like the tableview is actually much wider than it really is aField.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth; bField.autoresizingMask = carrierField.autoresizingMask; cField.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth; dField.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleLeftMargin; eField.autoresizingMask = priceField.autoresizingMask; So when the bottom section of code doesn't exist, everything works as expected, but when it does, a lot of the labels start falling off the right side or being stretched to where their centers are far to the right. Am I overlooking something simple?

  • Which pattern should be used for editing properties with modal view controller on iPhone?

    - by Matthew Daugherty
I am looking for a good pattern for performing basic property editing via a modal view on the iPhone. Assume I am putting together an application that works like the Contacts application. The "detail" view controller displays all of the contact's properties in a UITableView. When the UITableView goes into edit mode a disclosure icon is displayed in the cells. Clicking a cell causes a modal "editor" view controller to display a view that allows the user to modify the selected property. This view will often contain only a single text box or picker. The user clicks Cancel/Save and the "editor" view is dismissed and the "detail" view is updated. In this scenario, which view is responsible for updating the model? The "editor" view could update the property directly using Key-Value Coding. This appears in the CoreDataBooks example. This makes sense to me on some level because it treats the property as the model for the editor view controller. However, this is not the pattern suggested by the View Controller Programming Guide. It suggests that the "editor" view controller should define a protocol that the "detail" controller adopts. When the user indicates they are done with the edit, the "detail" view controller is called back with the entered value and it dismisses the "editor" view. Using this approach the "detail" controller updates the model. This approach seems problematic if you are using the same "editor" view for multiple properties since there is only a single call-back method. Would love to get some feedback on what approach works best.

  • UISearchDisplayController "shouldReloadTableForSearchString return NO" reloads table

    - by Jeena
Why does my UISearchDisplayController show "No results" even if the shouldReloadTableForSearchString method returns NO? Shouldn't it just do nothing and stay black? How can I prevent it from doing so? #import "RootViewController.h" #pragma mark Table view methods - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return 1; } // Customize the number of rows in the table view. - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { if (tableView == self.searchDisplayController.searchResultsTableView) { return 0; } return 10; } // Customize the appearance of table view cells. - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } // Configure the cell. cell.textLabel.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"row %d", indexPath.row]; return cell; } #pragma mark SearchController stuff - (BOOL)searchDisplayController:(UISearchDisplayController *)controller shouldReloadTableForSearchString:(NSString *)searchString { return NO; } - (void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; } @end

  • Pasting formatted Excel range into Outlook message

    - by Steph
Hi everyone, I am using Office 2007 and I would like to use VBA to paste a range of formatted Excel cells into an Outlook message and then mail the message. In the following code (that I lifted from various sources), it runs without error and then sends an empty message... the paste does not work. Can anyone see the problem and better yet, help with a solution? Thanks, -Steph Sub SendMessage(SubjectText As String, Importance As OlImportance) Dim objOutlook As Outlook.Application Dim objOutlookMsg As Outlook.MailItem Dim objOutlookRecip As Outlook.Recipient Dim objOutlookAttach As Outlook.Attachment Dim iAddr As Integer, Col As Integer, SendLink As Boolean 'Dim Doc As Word.Document, wdRn As Word.Range Dim Doc As Object, wdRn As Object ' Create the Outlook session. Set objOutlook = CreateObject("Outlook.Application") ' Create the message. Set objOutlookMsg = objOutlook.CreateItem(olMailItem) Set Doc = objOutlookMsg.GetInspector.WordEditor 'Set Doc = objOutlookMsg.ActiveInspector.WordEditor Set wdRn = Doc.Range wdRn.Paste Set objOutlookRecip = objOutlookMsg.Recipients.Add("[email protected]") objOutlookRecip.Type = 1 objOutlookMsg.Subject = SubjectText objOutlookMsg.Importance = Importance With objOutlookMsg For Each objOutlookRecip In .Recipients objOutlookRecip.Resolve ' Set the Subject, Body, and Importance of the message. '.Subject = "Coverage Requests" 'objDrafts.GetFromClipboard Next .Send End With Set objOutlookMsg = Nothing Set objOutlook = Nothing End Sub

  • UITableViewCell background size

    - by quano
I'm trying to set the size of my background to be a little shorter than the default, creating some space between the cells. This has proven to be difficult. Setting the frame of the background view seems to do nothing: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSString *reuseIdentifier = @"cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [self.tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:reuseIdentifier]; if (!cell) cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero reuseIdentifier:reuseIdentifier] autorelease]; // Set up the cell... cell.contentView.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; cell.backgroundView = [[[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 4, 320, 42)] autorelease]; cell.backgroundView.backgroundColor = [UIColor blackColor]; cell.backgroundView.alpha = .2; cell.selectedBackgroundView = [[[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 4, 320, 42)] autorelease]; cell.selectedBackgroundView.backgroundColor = [UIColor whiteColor]; cell.selectedBackgroundView.alpha = .2; cell.font = [UIFont fontWithName:@"MarkerFelt-Thin" size:22.0f]; cell.selectedTextColor = [UIColor blackColor]; cell.textColor = [UIColor whiteColor]; NSDictionary *dict = [files objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.text = [dict objectForKey:@"name"]; return cell; } Any help? Also, setting the selected background view doesn't do anything. When a cell is selected, the background is completely blank. Why is this? I'm using iPhone OS 2.2.1. I also do this: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; self.tableView.separatorStyle = UITableViewCellSeparatorStyleNone; self.tableView.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; self.tableView.rowHeight = 50.0f; } You can download the code here (made a small project for this issue only): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/608462/tabletest2.zip

  • Speed Problem - Animating Height Change in UITableView

    - by Travis
So I have a huge UITableView, between 1000 and 3000 rows. Each row needs to, when selected, expand to include several buttons. I do this by rendering the buttons below the cell, enabling clipping on the cells, and then just animating a change in height when they're selected. So I have heightForRowAtIndex checking if the row is selected, if so it gives a different height value. To do the animation, I have the following: - (void) tableView: (UITableView *) tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath: (NSIndexPath *) indexPath { [self.tableView beginUpdates]; [self.tableView endUpdates]; } This all works wonderfully until I get around 1000 rows, at which point the animations still work and are still quite smooth, but they lag by a second or two. My first thought was a memory problem, but everything is being autoreleased and upon inspection my application isn't even receiving a memory warning message. So...any ideas on what this might be and how I can erase this lag between selection and change in cell height? Oh, and one last thing - right now I'm testing this on the iPad, so if this is a problem there, I expect it to be worse on our other target devices (iPhone and iPod).
