Terminate function on System.in .. possible?

I am currently working on a project where I have to make an agent to interact with a server. Each 50ms, the server will receive the last thing I outputted to System.out and send me a new set of lines as a 'state' through the System.in printstream to analyze and send my next message to System.out. Also, if the server receives multiple outputs from me, it only regards the most recent one. .. As for my question: My program originally constructed a tree and then analyzed each leaf node to see which would be optimal, and then waited around for the next input, but I can recursively do a deeper tree search that would make my output 'better' (and again and again to keep returning a better result). Using this and the fact that if the server receives multiple outputs, it only takes the most recent one, I could do each level, print my result and start the next level. But here comes my problem... I can't be stuck in some complex algorithm while I am supposed to receiving the next input as I will then miss it. So I was wondering if there is a way to cancel anything else I am doing when I receive something via System.in and then go back to the beginning of the function and start the search again with the new set of input (and rinse and repeat..) Code producing System.NullReferenceException error for Membership.GetUser(). This is VB.Net (ASP.Net 4)

I have a Default.aspx page that is not static. I have added functionality with datalist and sqldatasources. When a user logins he/she will see items like saved workouts, saved equipment, total replys, etc... This is based on getting the currently logged in user UserID. Quite simply this works great when the user is logged in. However, I do not want to force a user to login to view the Default page because it does have functionality on it that does not require login. When a user is not logged in of course I receive the [System.NullReferenceException] error. I understand the error well but I do not know how to code to fix it. That is where I need help. I will admit I am more designer than developer. However, I do know the exception error I am receivving is caused by me not setting a value in my code when a user is not logged in. I do not know how to do that and have for a week made unsuccessful attempts at writing the code. Both sets of code below compile for VB.Net/ASP.Net 4/Visual Studio 2010 without errors. However, I still get the System.NullReferenceException error if not logged in. I know it can be done but I do not know the right syntax. If you can help please insert you code in mine or write it out. JUST TELLING ME WHERE TO GO TO FIND AN ANSWER WON'T HELP. I HAVE DONE THAT FOR 7 STRAIGHT DAYS. I APPRECIATE OUR HELP. Java Port Socket Programming Error

Hi- I have been working on a java client-server program using port sockets. The goal of this program is for the client to take a screenshot of the machine it is running on, break the RGB info of this image down into integers and arrays, then send this info over to the server, where it is reconstructed into a new image file. However, when I run the program I am experiencing the following two bugs: The first number recieved by the server, no matter what its value is according to the client, is always 49. The client only sends(or the server only receives?) the first value, then the program hangs forever. Any ideas as to why this is happening, and what I can do to fix it? Getting PATH right for python after MacPorts install

I can't import some python libraries (PIL, psycopg2) that I just installed with MacPorts. I looked through these forums, and tried to adjust my PATH variable in $HOME/.bash_profile in order to fix this but it did not work. I added the location of PIL and psycopg2 to PATH. I know that Terminal is a version of python in /usr/local/bin, rather than the one installed by MacPorts at /opt/local/bin. Do I need to use the MacPorts version of Python in order to ensure that PIL and psycopg2 are on sys.path when I use python in Terminal? Should I switch to the MacPorts version of Python, or will that cause more problems? Introducing the Earthquake Locator – A Bing Maps Silverlight Application, part 1

The recent wave of earthquakes (no pun intended) being reported in the news got me wondering about the frequency and severity of earthquakes around the world. Since I’ve been doing a lot of Silverlight development lately, I decided to scratch my curiosity with a nice little Bing Maps application that will show the location and relative strength of recent seismic activity. Here is a list of technologies this application will utilize, so be sure to have everything downloaded and installed if you plan on following along. Silverlight 3 WCF RIA Services Bing Maps Silverlight Control * Managed Extensibility Framework (optional) MVVM Light Toolkit (optional) log4net (optional) * If you are new to Bing Maps or have not signed up for a Developer Account, you will need to visit www.bingmapsportal.com to request a Bing Maps key for your application. Getting Started We start out by creating a new Silverlight Application called EarthquakeLocator and specify that we want to automatically create the Web Application Project with RIA Services enabled. I cleaned up the web app by removing the Default.aspx and EarthquakeLocatorTestPage.html. Then I renamed the EarthquakeLocatorTestPage.aspx to Default.aspx and set it as my start page. I also set the development server to use a specific port, as shown below. RIA Services Next, I created a Services folder in the EarthquakeLocator.Web project and added a new Domain Service Class called EarthquakeService.cs. This is the RIA Services Domain Service that will provide earthquake data for our client application. I am not using LINQ to SQL or Entity Framework, so I will use the <empty domain service class> option. We will be pulling data from an external Atom feed, but this example could just as easily pull data from a database or another web service. This is an important distinction to point out because each scenario I just mentioned could potentially use a different Domain Service base class (i.e. LinqToSqlDomainService<TDataContext>). Now we can start adding Query methods to our EarthquakeService that pull data from the USGS web site. The reason being that it is the only public instance method and it returns an IQueryable<Earthquake> collection that can be consumed by the client application. GetEarthquakes() calls the static GetFeed(String) method, which utilizes the built in SyndicationFeed API to load the external data feed. You will need to add a reference to the System.ServiceModel.Web library in order to take advantage of the RSS/Atom reader. The API will also allow you to create your own feeds to serve up in your applications. Model I have also created a Model folder and added a new class, Earthquake.cs. The Earthquake object will hold the various properties returned from the Atom feed. Here is a sample of the code for that class. I have chosen to use the MVVM Light Toolkit for the Earthquake Locator, but there are other options out there if you prefer another library. That said, I went ahead and created a ViewModel folder in the Silverlight project and added a EarthquakeViewModel class that derives from ViewModelBase. Be sure to read through the LoadEarthquakes() method, which handles calling the GetEarthquakes() method in our EarthquakeService via the EarthquakeContext proxy, and also transfers the loaded entities into the view model’s Earthquakes collection. Another thing to notice is what’s going on in the default constructor. I chose to use the Managed Extensibility Framework (MEF) for my composition needs, but you can use any dependency injection library or none at all. Usually, I would create a Views folder to place all of my View controls in, but I took the easy way out and added the following XAML code to the default MainPage.xaml file. Be sure to add the bing prefix associating the Microsoft.Maps.MapControl namespace after adding the assembly reference to your project. The MVVM Light Toolkit project templates come with a ViewModelLocator class that you can use via a static resource, but I am instantiating the EarthquakeViewModel directly in my user control. I am setting the AutoLoadData property to true as a way to trigger the LoadEarthquakes() method call. TEMP_PART01 and C drive

So we have a Samsung series 9 laptop and it has a 128 GB solid state drive, the problem we are having with it is that it has 4 partitions, one that's 100MB (who knows what for), one thats 40 GB (Primary Windows partition), 60 GB partition (TEMP_PART01) and a microsoft office one. The primary windows partition only has less than, 30 MB left, we want to increase this space, I know that I could just move everything to temp_part01 but we are not quite sure on it. What we are thinking of doing is deleting this partition all together and extending the windows volume. The problem is that the extra partition has 55.7 remaining out of 59.7 GB, which means there is something on it, but it shows up with nothing when we go into it, when we change the settings to show hidden files, but still nothing, I then used CMD to list all the files using dir d: and still no files. So would it be safe to delete it and extend the windows volume? Or what should I do? Here's a screen shot:

I'm trying to deploy ASP.NET MVC 2 project (VS2010) to Win Server 2008 R2 It works perfectly on dev machine. But strange error occurs at Server 2008 R2: When .ascx file has header that uses generic type: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<MyProj.Web.Models.RangeViewModel>" %> Server reports Could not load type 'System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<MyProj.Web.Models.RangeViewModel>'. But when I declare somewhere in .cs file type like public class AA : System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<MyProj.Web.Models.RangeViewModel> { } and use it instead in <%@ Control header. Then it works as it should. Am I missing something?

Unable to boot Windows 7 after installing Ubuntu

I have Windows 7 on my machine and then installed Ubuntu 12.04 using a live CD. I can see both Windows 7 and Ubuntu in the grub menu, but when I select Windows 7 it shows a black screen for about 2 seconds and the returns to the Grub menu. But if I select Ubuntu it's working fine. Convert byte array from Oracle RAW to System.Guid?

My app interacts with both Oracle and SQL Server databases using a custom data access layer written in ADO.NET using DataReaders. Right now I'm having a problem with the conversion between GUIDs (which we use for primary keys) and the Oracle RAW datatype. Inserts into oracle are fine (I just use the ToByteArray() method on System.Guid). The problem is converting back to System.Guid when I load records from the database. Currently, I'm using the byte array I get from ADO.NET to pass into the constructor for System.Guid. This appears to be working, but the Guids that appear in the database do not correspond to the Guids I'm generating in this manner. I can't change the database schema or the query (since it's reused for SQL Server). I need code to convert the byte array from Oracle into the correct Guid.

Hi, I'm trying to pick up Svn.NET (http://www.pumacode.org/projects/svndotnet/) library for use in my Mono project. I tried compiling its mockapp - svnmockapp project (http://www.pumacode.org/projects/svndotnet/browser/trunk/SvnMockApp) , I am able to get the references right and get it compiled right. I understand that it references 2 other modules libapr (libapr-1.so.0) and svn_client (libsvn_client-1.so.0) , by which I've created PumaCode.SvnDotNet.dll.config in /bin/Debug . That is all I've done to tried to try to get the mockapp at least outputting something to show that it is indeed interfacing SVN. Nevertheless, it is not working. How to correctly remove OpenJDK and JRE and set the system use only and only Sun JDK and JRE?

Ubuntu seems to favour OpenJDK/JRE very much over Sun JDK/JRE. Even after I installed Sun JRE, JDK and plugin and spent some time plucking out OpenJDK-related packages, apt-get has installed them back with some packages as a dependency. Can this behaviour be corrected in favour of Sun Java packages? I'd like to have one and only Java stack installed (yes, it's a bit of OCD, but I like to have my systems clean) and want it to be Sun Java. Update: as Marcos Roriz notes, the problem seems to be in default-jre (on which Java-dependent packages use to depend) pointing to OpenJDK, so the question seems to go about how to hack default-jre/default-jdk to point to Sun Java.

Edubuntu boots in low graphics mode. with an Intel HD Graphics system

I have a HD Intel graphics card in my laptop. It was working fine the first few days with the new version Edubuntu. Now when you start, just before it goes to the part asking for the login password I think the OP means lightdm it sends me to a low graphics mode. Things I've tried: I tried Ctl+Alt+F1. Updated and installed fglrx from the terminal. All my work is all stored there. Please, if anyone knows how to fix this, tell me. BAD DC transfering FSMO Roles to ADC

I have a DC (FQDN:server.icmcpk.local) and an ADC (FQDN:file-server.icmcpk.local). Recently my DC is facing a bad sector problem so I changed the Operation Masters to file-server for all five roles. but when ever i turn off the OLD DC the file-server also stops wroking with AD and GPMC further i m also unable to join any other computer to this domain. For Test purpose i also added a new ADC (FQDN:wds-server.icmcpk.local) but no succes with the old DC off i had to turn the old DC on and then joined it. How do i make a "system call to tar files(along with exclude tag)" to work in Perl

This is the system call, i am making right now in perl to tar the files system("${tarexe} -pcvf $tarname $includepath") which works fine. $tarexe -> location of my tar.exe file $tarname -> myMock.tar $includepath -> ./input/myMockPacketName ./input/myPacket/my2/*.wav ./input/myPacket/my3 ./input/myPacket/in.html Now i want to exclude some files using exclude tag, which doesnot exclude the files system("${tarexe} -pcvf $tarname $includepath --exclude $excludepath") $excludepath -> ./input/myMockPacketName/my3 The same stament ${tarexe} -pcvf $tarname $includepath --exclude $excludepath works fine when i run it in the command line.

Cannot start listening on a certain TCP port, but there's nothing currently listening on it

I have Windows Service that uses a WCF service host to listen for connections on TCP port 61000. When I try to start the service, I get the error: Service cannot be started. A quick netstat -a shows there is nothing listening on port 61000. I've also found several posts online that mention reserving namespaces using netstat, but the account that the service runs under has administrator privileges so that shouldn't be necessary. Any other ideas as to why I'm getting this message? This service is running on 64-bit Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard.

Incremental Statistics Maintenance – what statistics will be gathered after DML occurs on the table?

Incremental statistics maintenance was introduced in Oracle Database 11g to improve the performance of gathering statistics on large partitioned table. When incremental statistics maintenance is enabled for a partitioned table, oracle accurately generated global level statistics by aggregating partition level statistics. As more people begin to adopt this functionality we have gotten more questions around how they expected incremental statistics to behave in a given scenario. For example, last week we got a question around what partitions should have statistics gathered on them after DML has occurred on the table? The person who asked the question assumed that statistics would only be gathered on partitions that had stale statistics (10% of the rows in the partition had changed). However, what they actually saw when they did a DBMS_STATS.GATHER_TABLE_STATS was all of the partitions that had been affected by the DML had statistics re-gathered on them. This is the expected behavior, incremental statistics maintenance is suppose to yield the same statistics as gathering table statistics from scratch, just faster. This means incremental statistics maintenance needs to gather statistics on any partition that will change the global or table level statistics. For instance, the min or max value for a column could change after just one row is inserted or updated in the table. It might easier to demonstrate this using an example. Let’s take the ORDERS2 table, which is partitioned by month on order_date. We will begin by enabling incremental statistics for the table and gathering statistics on the table. After the statistics gather the last_analyzed date for the table and all of the partitions now show 13-Mar-12. And we now have the following column statistics for the ORDERS2 table. We can also confirm that we really did use incremental statistics by querying the dictionary table sys.HIST_HEAD$, which should have an entry for each column in the ORDERS2 table. So, now that we have established a good baseline, let’s move on to the DML. Information is loaded into the latest partition of the ORDERS2 table once a month. Existing orders maybe also be update to reflect changes in their status. Let’s assume the following transactions take place on the ORDERS2 table this month. After these transactions have occurred we need to re-gather statistic since the partition ORDERS_MAR_2012 now has rows in it and the number of distinct values and the maximum value for the STATUS column have also changed. Now if we look at the last_analyzed date for the table and the partitions, we will see that the global statistics and the statistics on the partitions where rows have changed due to the update (ORDERS_FEB_2012) and the data load (ORDERS_MAR_2012) have been updated. The column statistics also reflect the changes with the number of distinct values in the status column increase to reflect the update. So, incremental statistics maintenance will gather statistics on any partition, whose data has changed and that change will impact the global level statistics.

Why is the user.dir system property working in Java?

Almost every article I read told me that you can't have chdir in Java. The accepted answer to this question says you can't do it in Java. Add unallocated space to lvm

I shrunk my windows partition and now have 10 GB of unallocated space that I now want to use to grow my / partition which is an ext4 in an lvm. I'm running Fedora 12. I ran system-config-lvm but the "Initialize Entry" button is greyed out. The unallocated space is not adjacent to the lvm but I cannot move the partitions in GParted like I was able to with ext3 in the past. I cannot create a new partition either as it says it cannot have more than 4 primary partitions. I don't see any option to create an extended partition. So my question is, how do I add that unallocated space to the lvm so I can grow the size of the / partition? I don't want to reinstall Fedora.

How can I automatically change the system keyboard layout when plugging in an external keyboard?

I have a US-Style laptop, which is fine, but I also have a UK-style Ergonomic USB keyboard. As such I usually have the US key layout set, but when I settle in at my desk and use the UK USB keyboard I find myself making stupid mistakes on symbols (normally a pretty good touch typist on either ergo or standard kbd). Can anyone think of a clean way of setting the keyboard layout based on the inferred layout/USBID of any plugged in Keyboard? Even having a custom setting such as adding a specific USB ID to a runtime script that checks if its plugged in or not. Can this be done without the user having to logout/in? I remember doing something similar with xorg.conf, but that required logout.

How does Ubuntu One work? Files seem to upload but can not be accessed on another system

I have two computers running 12.04, I sign into my Ubuntu 0ne account on each computer, "Hi JQPublic" both say. Do I understand correctly that placing a file (specifically an .ogg music file ... simply a song) into the "Ubuntu One" file folder (always synced) on one computer, I should be able to open the "Ubuntu One" file folder on the other computer and find said .ogg, right? That is how this is meant to work, yes? Because it's not what's happening. Nothing uploads (though the first computer claims such). Minutes pass, still nothing. A different experiment: I uploaded a file folder containing a song; the folder was available on both computers, but remained decidedly empty. Any suggestions? I'm otherwise LOVING my return to Ubuntu (left at 9.04). I really am inclined to think that I'm missing something HUGE, that this is all a user (me) error, not a bug ... is it me?
