  • urllib2.Request() with data returns empty url

    - by Mr. Polywhirl
    My main concern is the function: getUrlAndHtml() If I manually build and append the query to the end of the uri, I can get the response.url(), but if I pass a dictionary as the request data, the url does not come back. Is there anyway to guarantee the redirected url? In my example below, if thisWorks = True I get back a url, but the returned url is the request url as opposed to a redirect link. On a sidenote, the encoding for .E2.80.93 does not translate to - for some reason? #!/usr/bin/python import pprint import urllib import urllib2 from bs4 import BeautifulSoup from sys import argv URL = 'http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?' def yesOrNo(boolVal): return 'yes' if boolVal else 'no' def getTitleFromRaw(page): return page.strip().replace(' ', '_') def getUrlAndHtml(title, printable=False): thisWorks = False if thisWorks: query = 'title={:s}&printable={:s}'.format(title, yesOrNo(printable)) opener = urllib2.build_opener() opener.addheaders = [('User-agent', 'Mozilla/5.0')] response = opener.open(URL + query) else: params = {'title':title,'printable':yesOrNo(printable)} data = urllib.urlencode(params) headers = {'User-agent':'Mozilla/5.0'}; request = urllib2.Request(URL, data, headers) response = urllib2.urlopen(request) return response.geturl(), response.read() def getSoup(html, name=None, attrs=None): soup = BeautifulSoup(html) if name is None: return None return soup.find(name, attrs) def setTitle(soup, newTitle): title = soup.find('div', {'id':'toctitle'}) h2 = title.find('h2') h2.contents[0].replaceWith('{:s} for {:s}'.format(h2.getText(), newTitle)) def updateLinks(soup, url): fragment = '#' for a in soup.findAll('a', href=True): a['href'] = a['href'].replace(fragment, url + fragment) def writeToFile(soup, filename='out.html', indentLevel=2): with open(filename, 'wt') as out: pp = pprint.PrettyPrinter(indent=indentLevel, stream=out) pp.pprint(soup) print('Wrote {:s} successfully.'.format(filename)) if __name__ == '__main__': def exitPgrm(): print('usage: {:s} "<PAGE>" <FILE>'.format(argv[0])) exit(0) if len(argv) == 2: help = argv[1] if help == '-h' or help == '--help': exitPgrm() if False:''' if not len(argv) == 3: exitPgrm() ''' page = 'Led Zeppelin' # argv[1] filename = 'test.html' # argv[2] title = getTitleFromRaw(page) url, html = getUrlAndHtml(title) soup = getSoup(html, 'div', {'id':'toc'}) setTitle(soup, page) updateLinks(soup, url) writeToFile(soup, filename)

  • How to find Tomcat's PID and kill it in python?

    - by 4herpsand7derpsago
    Normally, one shuts down Apache Tomcat by running its shutdown.sh script (or batch file). In some cases, such as when Tomcat's web container is hosting a web app that does some crazy things with multi-threading, running shutdown.sh gracefully shuts down some parts of Tomcat (as I can see more available memory returning to the system), but the Tomcat process keeps running. I'm trying to write a simple Python script that: Calls shutdown.sh Runs ps -aef | grep tomcat to find any process with Tomcat referenced If applicable, kills the process with kill -9 <PID> Here's what I've got so far (as a prototype - I'm brand new to Python BTW): #!/usr/bin/python # Imports import sys import subprocess # Load from imported module. if __init__ == "__main__": main() # Main entry point. def main(): # Shutdown Tomcat shutdownCmd = "sh ${TOMCAT_HOME}/bin/shutdown.sh" subprocess.call([shutdownCmd], shell=true) # Check for PID grepCmd = "ps -aef | grep tomcat" grepResults = subprocess.call([grepCmd], shell=true) if(grepResult.length > 1): # Get PID and kill it. pid = ??? killPidCmd = "kill -9 $pid" subprocess.call([killPidCmd], shell=true) # Exit. sys.exit() I'm struggling with the middle part - with obtaining the grep results, checking to see if their size is greater than 1 (since grep always returns a reference to itself, at least 1 result will always be returned, methinks), and then parsing that returned PID and passing it into the killPidCmd. Thanks in advance!

  • In DBD::CSV what does a /r in the f_ext attribute mean?

    - by sid_com
    Why does only the second example append the extension to the filename and what is the "/r" in ".csv/r" for. #!/usr/bin/env perl use warnings; use strict; use 5.012; use DBI; my $dbh = DBI->connect( "DBI:CSV:f_dir=/home/mm", { RaiseError => 1, f_ext => ".csv/r"} ); my $table = 'new_1'; $dbh->do( "DROP TABLE IF EXISTS $table" ); $dbh->do( "CREATE TABLE $table ( id INT, name CHAR, city CHAR )" ); my $sth_new = $dbh->prepare( "INSERT INTO $table( id, name, city ) VALUES ( ?, ?, ?, )" ); $sth_new->execute( 1, 'Smith', 'Greenville' ); $dbh->disconnect(); # -------------------------------------------------------- $dbh = DBI->connect( "DBI:CSV:f_dir=/home/mm", { RaiseError => 1 } ); $dbh->{f_ext} = ".csv/r"; $table = 'new_2'; $dbh->do( "DROP TABLE IF EXISTS $table" ); $dbh->do( "CREATE TABLE $table ( id INT, name CHAR, city CHAR )" ); $sth_new = $dbh->prepare( "INSERT INTO $table( id, name, city ) VALUES ( ?, ?, ?, )" ); $sth_new->execute( 1, 'Smith', 'Greenville' ); $dbh->disconnect();

  • How to count the Chinese word in a file using regex in perl?

    - by Ivan
    I tried following perl code to count the Chinese word of a file, it seems working but not get the right thing. Any help is greatly appreciated. The Error message is Use of uninitialized value $valid in concatenation (.) or string at word_counting.pl line 21, <FILE> line 21. Total things = 125, valid words = which seems to me the problem is the file format. The "total thing" is 125 that is the string number (125 lines). The strangest part is my console displayed all the individual Chinese words correctly without any problem. The utf-8 pragma is installed. #!/usr/bin/perl -w use strict; use utf8; use Encode qw(encode); use Encode::HanExtra; my $input_file = "sample_file.txt"; my ($total, $valid); my %count; open (FILE, "< $input_file") or die "Can't open $input_file: $!"; while (<FILE>) { foreach (split) { #break $_ into words, assign each to $_ in turn $total++; next if /\W|^\d+/; #strange words skip the remainder of the loop $valid++; $count{$_}++; # count each separate word stored in a hash ## next comes here ## } } print "Total things = $total, valid words = $valid\n"; foreach my $word (sort keys %count) { print "$word \t was seen \t $count{$word} \t times.\n"; } ##---Data---- sample_file.txt ??????,???????,????.??????.????:"?????????????,??????,????????.????????,?????????, ???????????.????????,???????????,??????,??????.???:`??,???????????.'?????, ??????????."??????,??????.????.???, ????????????,????,??????,?????????,??????????????. ????????,??????,???????????,????????,????????.????,????,???????, ??????????,??????,????????.??????.

  • Compiling a Windows C++ program in g++

    - by Phenom
    I'm trying to compile a Windows C++ program in g++. This is what I get. /usr/include/c++/4.4/backward/backward_warning.h:28:2: warning: #warning This file includes at least one deprecated or antiquated header which may be removed without further notice at a future date. Please use a non-deprecated interface with equivalent functionality instead. For a listing of replacement headers and interfaces, consult the file backward_warning.h. To disable this warning use -Wno-deprecated. btree.cpp:1204: error: ‘_TCHAR’ has not been declared btree.cpp: In function ‘int _tmain(int, int**)’: btree.cpp:1218: error: ‘__int64’ was not declared in this scope btree.cpp:1218: error: expected ‘;’ before ‘frequency’ btree.cpp:1220: error: ‘LARGE_INTEGER’ was not declared in this scope btree.cpp:1220: error: expected primary-expression before ‘)’ token btree.cpp:1220: error: ‘frequency’ was not declared in this scope btree.cpp:1220: error: ‘QueryPerformanceFrequency’ was not declared in this scope btree.cpp:1262: error: expected primary-expression before ‘)’ token btree.cpp:1262: error: ‘start’ was not declared in this scope btree.cpp:1262: error: ‘QueryPerformanceCounter’ was not declared in this scope btree.cpp:1264: error: name lookup of ‘i’ changed for ISO ‘for’ scoping btree.cpp:1264: note: (if you use ‘-fpermissive’ G++ will accept your code) btree.cpp:1304: error: expected primary-expression before ‘)’ token btree.cpp:1304: error: ‘end’ was not declared in this scope btree.cpp:1306: error: ‘total’ was not declared in this scope btree.cpp:1316: error: ‘getchar’ was not declared in this scope The first thing I noticed is that there are these variable types called _TCHAR, _int64, and LARGE_INTEGER, which is probably a Windows thing. What can these be changed to so that they will work in g++? Also, if there's anything else in here that you know can be converted to g++, that would be helpful. I got the code from here: http://touc.org/btree.html

  • Could I do this blind relative to absolute path conversion (for perforce depot paths) better?

    - by wonderfulthunk
    I need to "blindly" (i.e. without access to the filesystem, in this case the source control server) convert some relative paths to absolute paths. So I'm playing with dotdots and indices. For those that are curious I have a log file produced by someone else's tool that sometimes outputs relative paths, and for performance reasons I don't want to access the source control server where the paths are located to check if they're valid and more easily convert them to their absolute path equivalents. I've gone through a number of (probably foolish) iterations trying to get it to work - mostly a few variations of iterating over the array of folders and trying delete_at(index) and delete_at(index-1) but my index kept incrementing while I was deleting elements of the array out from under myself, which didn't work for cases with multiple dotdots. Any tips on improving it in general or specifically the lack of non-consecutive dotdot support would be welcome. Currently this is working with my limited examples, but I think it could be improved. It can't handle non-consecutive '..' directories, and I am probably doing a lot of wasteful (and error-prone) things that I probably don't need to do because I'm a bit of a hack. I've found a lot of examples of converting other types of relative paths using other languages, but none of them seemed to fit my situation. These are my example paths that I need to convert, from: //depot/foo/../bar/single.c //depot/foo/docs/../../other/double.c //depot/foo/usr/bin/../../../else/more/triple.c to: //depot/bar/single.c //depot/other/double.c //depot/else/more/triple.c And my script: begin paths = File.open(ARGV[0]).readlines puts(paths) new_paths = Array.new paths.each { |path| folders = path.split('/') if ( folders.include?('..') ) num_dotdots = 0 first_dotdot = folders.index('..') last_dotdot = folders.rindex('..') folders.each { |item| if ( item == '..' ) num_dotdots += 1 end } if ( first_dotdot and ( num_dotdots > 0 ) ) # this might be redundant? folders.slice!(first_dotdot - num_dotdots..last_dotdot) # dependent on consecutive dotdots only end end folders.map! { |elem| if ( elem !~ /\n/ ) elem = elem + '/' else elem = elem end } new_paths << folders.to_s } puts(new_paths) end

  • How to change value inside a JSON string.

    - by Jeremy Roy
    I have a JSON string array of objects like this. [{"id":"4","rank":"adm","title":"title 1"}, {"id":"2","rank":"mod","title":"title 2"}, {"id":"5","rank":"das","title":"title 3"}, {"id":"1","rank":"usr","title":"title 4"}, {"id":"3","rank":"ref","title":"title 5"}] I want to change the title value of it, once the id is matching. So if my variable myID is 5, I want to change the title "title 5" to new title, and so on. And then I get the new JSON array to $("#rangArray").val(jsonStr); Something like $.each(jsonStr, function(k,v) { if (v==myID) { this.title='new title'; $("#myTextArea").val(jsonStr); } }); Here is the full code. $('img.delete').click(function() { var deltid = $(this).attr("id").split('_'); var newID = deltid[1]; var jsonStr = JSON.stringify(myArray); $.each(jsonStr, function(k,v) { if (v==newID) { // how to change the title jsonStr[k].title = 'new title'; alert(jsonStr); $("#rangArray").val(jsonStr); } }); }); The above is not working. Any help please?

  • How to maintain long-lived python projects w.r.t. dependencies and python versions ?

    - by Gyom
    short version: how can I get rid of the multiple-versions-of-python nightmare ? long version: over the years, I've used several versions of python, and what is worse, several extensions to python (e.g. pygame, pylab, wxPython...). Each time it was on a different setup, with different OSes, sometimes different architectures (like my old PowerPC mac). Nowadays I'm using a mac (OSX 10.6 on x86-64) and it's a dependency nightmare each time I want to revive script older than a few months. Python itself already comes in three different flavours in /usr/bin (2.5, 2.6, 3.1), but I had to install 2.4 from macports for pygame, something else (cannot remember what) forced me to install all three others from macports as well, so at the end of the day I'm the happy owner of seven (!) instances of python on my system. But that's not the problem, the problem is, none of them has the right (i.e. same set of) libraries installed, some of them are 32bits, some 64bits, and now I'm pretty much lost. For example right now I'm trying to run a three-year-old script (not written by me) which used to use matplotlib/numpy to draw a real-time plot within a rectangle of a wxwidgets window. But I'm failing miserably: py26-wxpython from macports won't install, stock python has wxwidgets included but also has some conflict between 32 bits and 64 bits, and it doesn't have numpy... what a mess ! Obviously, I'm doing things the wrong way. How do you usally cope with all that chaos ?

  • NSTask Tail -f Using objective C

    - by Bach
    I need to read the last added line to a log file, in realtime, and capture that line being added. Something similar to Tail -f. So my first attempt was to use Tail -f using NSTask. I can't see any output using the code below: NSTask *server = [[NSTask alloc] init]; [server setLaunchPath:@"/usr/bin/tail"]; [server setArguments:[NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"-f", @"/path/to/my/LogFile.txt",nil]]; NSPipe *outputPipe = [NSPipe pipe]; [server setStandardInput:[NSPipe pipe]]; [server setStandardOutput:outputPipe]; [server launch]; [server waitUntilExit]; [server release]; NSData *outputData = [[outputPipe fileHandleForReading] readDataToEndOfFile]; NSString *outputString = [[[NSString alloc] initWithData:outputData encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding] autorelease]; NSLog (@"Output \n%@", outputString); I can see the output as expected when using: [server setLaunchPath:@"/bin/ls"]; How can i capture the output of that tail NSTask? Is there any alternative to this method, where I can open a stream to file and each time a line is added, output it on screen? (basic logging functionality)

  • Using libgrib2c in c++ application, linker error "Undefined reference to..."

    - by Rich
    EDIT: If you're going to be doing things with GRIB files I would recommend the GDAL library which is backed by the Open Source Geospatial Foundation. You will save yourself a lot of headache :) I'm using Qt creator in Ubuntu creating a c++ app. I am attempting to use an external lib, libgrib2c.a, that has a header grib2.h. Everything compiles, but when it tries to link I get the error: undefined reference to 'seekgb(_IO_FILE*, long, long, long*, long*) I have tried wrapping the header file with: extern "C"{ #include "grib2.h" } But it didn't fix anything so I figured that was not my problem. In the .pro file I have the line: include($${ROOT}/Shared/common/commonLibs.pri) and in commonLibs.pri I have: INCLUDEPATH+=$${ROOT}/external_libs/g2clib/include LIBS+=-L$${ROOT}/external_libs/g2clib/lib LIBS+=-lgrib2c I am not encountering an error finding the library. If I do a nm command on the libgrib2c.a I get: nm libgrib2c.a | grep seekgb seekgb.o: 00000000 T seekgb And when I run qmake with the additional argument of LIBS+=-Wl,--verbose I can find the lib file in the output: attempt to open /usr/lib/libgrib2c.so failed attempt to open /usr/lib/libgrib2c.a failed attempt to open /mnt/sdb1/ESMF/App/ESMF_App/../external_libs/linux/qwt_6.0.2/lib/libgrib2c.so failed attempt to open /mnt/sdb1/ESMF/App/ESMF_App/../external_libs/linux/qwt_6.0.2/lib/libgrib2c.a failed attempt to open ..//Shared/Config/lib/libgrib2c.so failed attempt to open ..//Shared/Config/lib/libgrib2c.a failed attempt to open ..//external_libs/libssh2/lib/libgrib2c.so failed attempt to open ..//external_libs/libssh2/lib/libgrib2c.a failed attempt to open ..//external_libs/openssl/lib/libgrib2c.so failed attempt to open ..//external_libs/openssl/lib/libgrib2c.a failed attempt to open ..//external_libs/g2clib/lib/libgrib2c.so failed attempt to open ..//external_libs/g2clib/lib/libgrib2c.a succeeded Although it doesn't show any of the .o files in the library is this because it is a c library in my c++ app? in the .cpp file that I am trying to use the library I have: #include "gribreader.h" #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <external_libs/g2clib/include/grib2.h> #include <Shared/logging/Logger.hpp> //------------------------------------------------------------------------------ /// Opens a GRIB file from disk. /// /// This function opens the grib file and searches through it for how many GRIB /// messages are contained as well as their starting locations. /// /// \param a_filePath. in django 1.1.1, Place.objects.in_bulk() does not work and Place.objects.in_bulk(range(1, 100)) works and returns a dictionary of Ints to Places with indexes - primary keys. How to avoid using range in this situation (and avoid using a special query for ids, I just want to get all objects in this dictionary format) >>> Place.objects.in_bulk() Traceback (most recent call last): File "<console>", line 1, in <module> File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/Django-1.1.1-py2.5.egg/django/db/models/manager.py", line 144, in in_bulk return self.get_query_set().in_bulk(*args, **kwargs) TypeError: in_bulk() takes exactly 2 arguments (1 given) >>> Place.objects.in_bulk(range(1, 100)) {1L: <Place: "??? ????">, 3L: <Place: "???????????? ?????">, 4L: <Place: "????????? • Passing a paramter/object to a ruby unit/test before running it using TestRunner

    - by Nahir Khan
    I'm building a tool that automates a process then runs some tests on it's own results then goes to do some other stuff. In trying to clean up my code I have created a separate file that just has the test cases class. Now before I can run these tests, I have to pass the class a couple of parameters/objects before they can be run. Now the problem is that I can't seem to find a way to pass a parameter/object to the test class. Right now I am thinking to generate a Yaml file and read it in the test class but it feels "wrong" to use a temporary file for this. If anyone has a nicer solution that would be great! *********Edit******* Example Code of what I am doing right now: #!/usr/bin/ruby require 'test/unit/ui/console/testrunner' require 'yaml' require 'TS_SampleTestSuite' automatingSomething() importantInfo = getImportantInfo() File.open('filename.yml', 'w') do |f| f.puts importantInfo.to_yaml end Test::Unit::UI::Console::TestRunner.run(TS_SampleTestSuite) Now in the example above TS_SampleTestSuite needs importantInfo, so the first "test case" is a method that just reads in the information from the Yaml file filname.yml. I hope that clears up some confusion.

  • Compilation problem in the standard x86_64 libraries

    - by user350282
    Hi everyone, I am having trouble compiling a program I have written. I have two different files with the same includes but only one generates the following error when compiled with g++ /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.4.1/../../../../lib/crt1.o: In function `_start': /build/buildd/eglibc-2.10.1/csu/../sysdeps/x86_64/elf/start.S:109: undefined reference to `main' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status The files I am including in my header are as follows: #include <google/sparse_hash_map> using google::sparse_hash_map; #include <ext/hash_map> #include <math.h> #include <iostream> #include <queue> #include <vector> #include <stack> using std::priority_queue; using std::stack; using std::vector; using __gnu_cxx::hash_map; using __gnu_cxx::hash; using namespace std; Searching the internet for those two lines hasn't resulted in anything to help me. I would be very grateful for any advice. Thank you

  • PHP Magic faster than simply setting the class attribute?

    - by Marc Trudel
    Well, not exactly that, but here is an example. Can anyone explain the difference between B and C? How can it be faster to use a magic function to dynamically set a value instead of simply setting the value in the attribute definition? Here is some code: [root@vm-202-167-238-17 ~]# cat test.php; for d in A B C; do echo "------"; ./test.php $d; done; #!/usr/bin/php <?php $className = $argv[1]; class A { public function __get($a) { return 5; } } class B { public $a = 5; } class C { public function __get($a) { $this->a = 5; return 5; } } $a = new $className; $start = microtime(true); for ($i=0; $i < 1000000; $i++) $b = $a->a; $end = microtime(true); echo (($end - $start) * 1000) ." msec\n"; ------ 598.90794754028 msec ------ 205.48391342163 msec ------ 189.7759437561 msec

  • GNU C++ how to check when -std=c++0x is in effect?

    - by TerryP
    My system compiler (gcc42) works fine with the TR1 features that I want, but trying to support newer compiler versions other than the systems, trying to accessing TR1 headers an #error demanding the -std=c++0x option because of how it interfaces with library or some hub bub like that. /usr/local/lib/gcc45/include/c++/bits/c++0x_warning.h:31:2: error: #error This file requires compiler and library support for the upcoming ISO C++ standard, C++0x. This support is currently experimental, and must be enabled with the -std=c++0x or -std=gnu++0x compiler options. Having to supply an extra switch is no problem, to support GCC 4.4 and 4.5 under this system (FreeBSD), but obviously it changes the picture! Using my system compiler (g++ 4.2 default dialect): #include <tr1/foo> using std::tr1::foo; Using newer (4.5) versions of the compiler with -std=c++0x: #include <foo> using std::foo; Is there anyway using the pre processor, that I can tell if g++ is running with C++0x features enabled? Something like this is what I'm looking for: #ifdef __CXX0X_MODE__ #endif but I have not found anything in the manual or off the web. At this rate, I'm starting to think that life would just be easier, to use Boost as a dependency, and not worry about a new language standard arriving before TR4... hehe.

  • execute a string of PHP code on the command line

    - by Matthew J Morrison
    I'd like to be able to run a line of PHP code on the command line similar to how the following options work: :~> perl -e "print 'hi';" :~> python -c "print 'hi'" :~> ruby -e "puts 'hi'" I'd like to be able to do: :~> php "echo 'hi';" I've read that there is a -r option that can do what I need for php, however it doesn't appear to be available when I try to use it. I've tried using PHP 5.2.13 and PHP 4.4.9 and neither have an -r option available. I wrote this script (that I called run_php.php) - which works, but I'm not a huge fan of it just because I feel like there should be a more "correct" way to do it. #!/usr/bin/php5 -q <?php echo eval($argv[1]); ?> My question is: is there a -r option? If so, why is it not available when I run --help? If there is no -r option, what is the best way to do this (without writing an intermediary script if possible)? Thanks!

  • use Ghostscript to convert pcl to postscript

    So I want to use Ghostscript to convert files that are created in pcl format to postscript. That's the gist of my problem. • perl - converting a date into a string

    - by Jason
    I need to convert a date to a string, the date is entered as 07/04/2010 and should then read July 4th 2010. It should also be able to be entered using singe digits instead of double (7 instead of 07, and it needs to add the 20 to the year if the user enters only /10) This is what I have so far - #!/usr/bin/perl use CGI qw(:standard); use strict; #declare variables my ($date, $month, $day, $year); my @months = ("January", "February", "March", "April", "May", "June", "July", "August", "September", "October", "November", "December"); #assign input item to variable $date = param('Date'); #break date apart $date =~ /([0-9]{1,2})\/([0-9]{1,2})\/([0-9]{2,2}|20[0-9]{2,2})/; $month = $1; $day = $2; $year = $3; unless($year =~ /20[0-9]{2,2}/){ $year = "20".$year; } $date = $months[int($1)]." ".$day.", ".$year; #display date print "<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>The Date</TITLE></HEAD>\n"; print "<BODY>\n"; print "The date is: $date\n"; print "</BODY></HTML>\n"; However I keep getting errors Use of uninitialized value in pattern match (m//) at c08ex6.cgi line 14. • What is the Pythonic way to implement a simple FSM?

    - by Vicky
    Yesterday I had to parse a very simple binary data file - the rule is, look for two bytes in a row that are both 0xAA, then the next byte will be a length byte, then skip 9 bytes and output the given amount of data from there. Repeat to the end of the file. My solution did work, and was very quick to put together (even though I am a C programmer at heart, I still think it was quicker for me to write this in Python than it would have been in C) - BUT, it is clearly not at all Pythonic and it reads like a C program (and not a very good one at that!) What would be a better / more Pythonic approach to this? Is a simple FSM like this even still the right choice in Python? My solution: #! /usr/bin/python import sys f = open(sys.argv[1], "rb") state = 0 if f: for byte in f.read(): a = ord(byte) if state == 0: if a == 0xAA: state = 1 elif state == 1: if a == 0xAA: state = 2 else: state = 0 elif state == 2: count = a; skip = 9 state = 3 elif state == 3: skip = skip -1 if skip == 0: state = 4 elif state == 4: print "%02x" %a count = count -1 if count == 0: state = 0 print "\r\n"

  • MySQL 5.5.8 Gets Periodic Lag

    - by CYREX
    Am using MySQL 5.5.8 on an Ubuntu system and every X amount of time it creates a huge lag that lasts a couple of seconds. Then all goes back to normal until the next lag. The time period varies but it looks like it happen periodically. Am using InnoDB. It is like hiccups in the MySQL. What could be creating this sort of periodic problem. Do not have any cron jobs or process running every time the X period happens. The X period could be between 30 minutes to 2 hours. So for example it could happen every 30 minutes for the next 12 hours or it could happen every 2 hours for the next 8 hours. key_buffer_size = 256M max_allowed_packet = 1M table_cache = 1024 table_open_cache = 1024 sort_buffer_size = 2M read_buffer_size = 2M read_rnd_buffer_size = 4M myisam_sort_buffer_size = 32M thread_cache_size = 128 query_cache_size= 128M log-slow-queries = slow.log long_query_time = 5 log-queries-not-using-indexes # Try number of CPU's*2 for thread_concurrency thread_concurrency = 4 max_connections=512 #innodb_data_file_path = ibdata1:10M:autoextend #innodb_log_group_home_dir = /usr/local/mysql/data # You can set .._buffer_pool_size up to 50 - 80 % # of RAM but beware of setting memory usage too high innodb_buffer_pool_size = 1G #innodb_additional_mem_pool_size = 20M # Set .._log_file_size to 25 % of buffer pool size #innodb_log_file_size = 64M #innodb_log_buffer_size = 8M #innodb_flush_log_at_trx_commit = 0 #innodb_lock_wait_timeout = 50 [mysqldump] quick max_allowed_packet = 16M [myisamchk] key_buffer_size = 64M sort_buffer_size = 64M read_buffer = 2M write_buffer = 2M There are about 200+ tables divided in 3 databases. The most written too is in InnoDB. The other ones are more read. Several of the tables in the InnoDB have more than 2 million records. The other databases top at about 400 thousand records and do not change so often. The PC is a Core 2 Duo 8400 with 4GB RAM, 32Bit Ubuntu.

  • Perl, strings, floats, unit testing and regexps!

    - by Chris R
    OK, as a preface this question potentially is 'stupider' than my normal level of question - however this problem has been annoying me for the last few days so I'll ask it anyway. I'll give a mock example of what my problem is so I can hope to generalize it to my current problem. #!/usr/bin/perl -w use strict; use Test::More 'no_plan'; my $fruit_string = 'Apples cost $1.50'; my ($fruit, $price) = $fruit_string =~ /(\w+)s cost \$(\d+\.\d+)/; # $price += 0; # Uncomment for Great Success is ($price, 1.50, 'Great Success'); Now when this is run I get the message # Failed test 'Great Success' # got: '1.50' # expected: '1.5' To make the test work - I either uncomment the commented line, or use is ($price, '1.50', 'Great Success'). Both options do not work for me - I'm testing a huge amount of nested data using Test::Deep and cmp_deeply. My question is, how can you extract a double from a regexp then use it immediately as a double - or if there is a better way altogether let me know - and feel free to tell me to take up gardening or something lol, learning Perl is hard.
