  • WCF Service error received when using TCP: "The message could not be dispatched..."

    - by StM
    I am new to creating WCF services. I have created a WCF web service in VS2008 that is running on IIS 7. When I use http the service works perfectly. When I configure the service for TCP and run I get the following error message. There was a communication problem. The message could not be dispatched because the service at the endpoint address 'net:tcp://elec:9090/CoordinateIdTool_Tcp/IdToolService.svc is unavailable for the protocol of the address. I have searched a lot of forums, including this one, for a resolution but nothing has worked. Everything appears to be set up correctly on IIS 7. WAS has been set up to run. The default web site has a net.tcp binding and the application has net.tcp under the enabled protocols. I am including what I think is the important part of the web.config from the host project and also the app.config from the client project I am using to test the service. Hopefully someone can spot my error. Thanks in advance for any help or recommendations that anyone can provide. • DataGridView: Scroll bar does not refreshed

    - by David.Chu.ca
    I am working (fixing bugs) on a project which was written in VS 2005. There is one DataGridView control on a form. When it is first time loaded, the control's data grid is populated with rows of data from a collection manually or in codes. Actually, there is method PopulateDataGrid() do the job. There is also another control on the form. When control is changed, the data grid will be cleared first and then rows are repopulated again through PopulateDataGrid(). The problem is that when the grid is refreshed, the vertical scroll bar does not get reset correctly. I thought it should be. Since the scroll bar is not reset, when I tried to click on grid and move down, I got exception: the max value of scroll bar was exceeded. All the settings for grid control are default values. For example, the ScrollBars is Both. The following is the only related place to set row auto size property: poDataGridView.AutoSizeRowsMode = DataGridViewAutoSizeRowsMode.DisplayedCellsExceptHeaders; I am not sure if there is any property I have to set in designer?

  • Adventures on Enterprise Library 5.0: Who moved my cheese (namespace)

    - by Junior Mayhé
    Jesus, Krishna, Budda! I've migrated to EntLib 5.0, but classes like ISymmetricCryptoProvider are not recognized anymore. Funny to say that Data, Logging and other blocks are working compiling fine. Here's the problematic class: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Text; using Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Common.Configuration;//-->it's not working anymore using Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Security.Cryptography;//-->it's not working anymore namespace MyClassLibrary.Security.EnterpriseLibrary { public sealed class Crypto { public static ISymmetricCryptoProvider MyProvider { get { //IConfigurationSource is not recognized either, neither SystemConfigurationSource IConfigurationSource cs = new SystemConfigurationSource(); SymmetricCryptoProviderFactory scpf = new SymmetricCryptoProviderFactory(cs); ISymmetricCryptoProvider p = scpf.CreateDefault(); return p; } } The references are fine on project too. I really don't know why this particular project it's causing too many trouble on VS2010! Older references were deleted, project was cleaned, rebuilt, but can't make it compile :-( The references are: Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Common Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Logging Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Logging.Database Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Security Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Security.Cryptography Why some namespaces can be found while others can't?

  • Accidentally created VB.NET project instead of C#

    - by Bryan M.
    This should seem simple enough, but can't figure it out. I was porting a project out of MonoDevelop and into VS2008, but I accidently created the project as VB.NET instead of C#. Now ReSharper and any syntax highlighting is throwing a fit because it's trying to validate it as VB. How do I tell it to treat it as a C# project without creating a whole new one?

  • List iterator not dereferencable?

    - by Roderick
    Hi All I get the error "list iterator not dereferencable" when using the following code: bool done = false; while (!_list_of_messages.empty() && !done) { // request the next message to create a frame // DEBUG ERROR WHEN NEXT LINE IS EXECUTED: Counted_message_reader reader = *(_list_of_messages.begin()); if (reader.has_more_data()) { _list_of_frames.push_back(new Dlp_data_frame(reader, _send_compressed_frames)); done = true; } else { _list_of_messages.pop_front(); } } (The line beginning with "Counted_message_reader..." is the one giving the problem) Note that the error doesn't always occur but seemingly at random times (usually when there's lots of buffered data). _list_of_messages is declared as follows: std::list<Counted_message_reader> _list_of_messages; In the surrounding code we could do pop_front, push_front and size, empty or end checks on _list_of_messages but no erase calls. I've studied the STL documentation and can't see any glaring problems. Is there something wrong with the above code or do I have a memory leak somewhere? Thanks! Appreciated!

  • C++/CLI: CA2123: Requires SecurityCriticalAttribute?

    - by TomTom
    I am a little lost on erros like that: Warning 7 CA2123 : Microsoft.Security : Add the following security attribute to 'RithmicConnector::Connect(String^)' in order to match a LinkDemand on base method 'IConnector::Connect(String^)': 'SecurityCriticalAttribute'. c:\work\nettecture\tradex\source\tradex.connectivity.rithmic\rithmicconnector.cpp 52 Tradex.Connectivity.Rithmic Where do I add the SecurityCriticalAttribute? I tried on the header file - but the error does not disappear. I have one of those pretty much on every exposed method of a (managed C++) interface DLL. And I want CA to run through. How do I fix those? Regards

  • std::vector optimisation required

    - by marcp
    I've written a routine that uses std::vector<double> rather heavily. It runs rather slowly and AQTime seems to imply that I am constructing mountains of vectors but I'm not sure why I would be. For some context, my sample run iterates 10 times. Each iteration copies 3 c arrays of ~400 points into vectors and creates 3 new same sized vectors for output. Each output point might be the result of summing up to 20 points from 2 of the input vectors, which works out to a worst case of 10*400*3*2*20 = 480,000 dereferences. Incredibly the profiler indicates that some of the std:: methods are being called 46 MILLION times. I suspect I'm doing something wrong! Some code: vector<double>gdbChannel::GetVector() { if (fHaveDoubleData & (fLength > 0)) { double * pD = getDoublePointer(); vector<double>v(pD, pD + fLength); return v; } else { throw(Exception("attempt to retrieve vector on empty line")); ; } } void gdbChannel::SaveVector(GX_HANDLE _hLine, const vector<double> & V) { if (hLine != _hLine) { GetLine(_hLine, V.size(), true); } GX_DOUBLE * pData = getDoublePointer(); memcpy(pData, &V[0], V.size()*sizeof(V[0])); ReplaceData(); } ///This routine gets called 10 times bool SpecRatio::DoWork(GX_HANDLE_PTR pLine) { if (!(hKin.GetLine(*pLine, true) && hUin.GetLine(*pLine, true) && hTHin.GetLine(*pLine, true))) { return true; } vector<double>vK = hKin.GetVector(); vector<double>vU = hUin.GetVector(); vector<double>vTh = hTHin.GetVector(); if ((vK.size() == 0) || (vU.size() == 0) || (vTh.size() == 0)) { return true; } ///TODO: confirm all vectors the same lenghth len = vK.size(); vUK.clear(); // these 3 vectors are declared as private class members vUTh.clear(); vThK.clear(); vUK.reserve(len); vUTh.reserve(len); vThK.reserve(len); // TODO: ensure everything is same fidincr, fidstart and length for (int i = 0; i < len; i++) { if (vK.at(i) < MinK) { vUK.push_back(rDUMMY); vUTh.push_back(rDUMMY); vThK.push_back(rDUMMY); } else { vUK.push_back(RatioPoint(vU, vK, i, UMin, KMin)); vUTh.push_back(RatioPoint(vU, vTh, i, UMin, ThMin)); vThK.push_back(RatioPoint(vTh, vK, i, ThMin, KMin)); } } hUKout.setFidParams(hKin); hUKout.SaveVector(*pLine, vUK); hUTHout.setFidParams(hKin); hUTHout.SaveVector(*pLine, vUTh); hTHKout.setFidParams(hKin); hTHKout.SaveVector(*pLine, vThK); return TestError(); } double SpecRatio::VValue(vector<double>V, int Index) { double result; if ((Index < 0) || (Index >= len)) { result = 0; } else { try { result = V.at(Index); if (OasisUtils::isDummy(result)) { result = 0; } } catch (out_of_range) { result = 0; } } return result; } double SpecRatio::RatioPoint(vector<double>Num, vector<double>Denom, int Index, double NumMin, double DenomMin) { double num = VValue(Num, Index); double denom = VValue(Denom, Index); int s = 0; // Search equalled 10 in this case while (((num < NumMin) || (denom < DenomMin)) && (s < Search)) { num += VValue(Num, Index - s) + VValue(Num, Index + s); denom += VValue(Denom, Index - s) + VValue(Denom, Index + s); s++; } if ((num < NumMin) || (denom < DenomMin)) { return rDUMMY; } else { return num / denom; } } The top AQTime offenders are: std::_Uninit_copy , double *, std::allocator 3.65 secs and 115731 Hits std::_Construct 1.69 secs and 46450637 Hits std::_Vector_const_iterator ::operator !=1.66 secs and 46566395 Hits and so on... std::allocator<double>::construct, operator new, std::_Vector_const_iterator<double, std::allocator<double> >::operator ++, std::_Vector_const_iterator<double, std::allocator<double> >::operator * std::_Vector_const_iterator<double, std::allocator<double> >::operator == each get called over 46 million times. I'm obviously doing something wrong to cause all these objects to be created. Can anyone see my error(s)?

  • Publish web application from MSBuild Script using VS2010 targets resets working directory

    - by Raoul
    I am trying to automatically publish and deploy my .Net 4 web application automatically from a build script to be run by our continuous integration server. I am using the new _WPPCopyWebApplication target from VS2010 to perform the publish, however it appears to reset the current working directory of the msbuild project to c:\ this causes my prebuild steps to fail as they have relative paths to some external tools. The task I am running from our master.build file is as follows: <Target Name="PublishWeb"> <MSBuild Projects="$(ProjectPath)" Targets="ResolveReferences;_WPPCopyWebApplication" Properties="WebProjectOutputDir=$(DeployPath);OutDir=$(TempOutputFolder)$(WebOutputFolder)\;OutputPath=$(ProjectPath)\bin\Debug;" /> </Target> This does not happen when using the legacy _CopyWebApplication. Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this problem?

  • How to change the outlining hover color in VS 2010?

    - by RCIX
    If i hover over the thin vertical bar on the left, it highlights the entire scope of the block that's to the right. When this scope is large, my entire screen flashes white (a consequence of my custom color scheme). Is there a way to change that color? i don't recall there being one when i made the theme.

  • Visual Basic Express 2008 Help

    - by khalidfazeli
    I have been given a task to: Develop a program where a child will be presented with picture of a fruit (one of five possible fruit) on the screen at the click of a start button. The child will then try to recognise the fruit and write its name in a specified place on the screen. On the click of a check button the name of the fruit written by the child will be checked by your program and if correct will reward the child with a suitable message. If the name presented by the child is not correct, a suitable message should be presented on a red background with the correct name of the fruit included in the message. so far I have managed to create a form with 5 different fruit pictures and a text box below them. a button at the bottom of the form then checks the results and presents a message box to tell them if they have passed or failed. Private Sub btnResults_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnResults.Click If txtApple.Text = "APPLE" And txtOrange.Text = "ORANGES" And txtStrawberry.Text = "STRAWBERRIES" And txtGrapes.Text = "GRAPES" And txtBanana.Text = "BANANAS" Then MsgBox("Congratulations! you got it all right!", MsgBoxStyle.OkOnly) End Else MsgBox("Incorrect, please try again", MsgBoxStyle.OkOnly) End End If End Sub but I can't get it to randomise the picture of the fruit, so it only displays one fruit at a time and checks against it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

  • vs2008 attach to process, can't see which process

    - by Mafti
    Hi, In vs2003 (and vs2005(not sure about that)) when I attached to a process, before actually attaching I could see which process were running under w3wp (I have a couple of websites running locally) so I knew which exact .net application I was about to debug. however in vs2008 the window doesn't show up anymore.. now I have to attach it, come to the conclusion it was the wrong process, stop debugging and attach it to the other process (if I haven't forgot teh processid :P ) Is there a way to "enable" that interesting window to see with .net apps are runnig in that specific w3wp process? or am i missing something obvious?

    I would like to generate a combination of words. For example if I had the following list: {cat, dog, horse, ape, hen, mouse} then the result would be n(n-1)/2 cat dog horse ape hen mouse (cat dog) (dog horse) (horse ape) (ape hen) (hen mouse) (cat dog horse) (dog horse ape) (horse ape hen) etc Hope this makes sense...everything I found involves permutations The list I have would be a 500 long

  • VS 2008 unstable after "Stop Debugging"

    - by liys
    This was on Windows Server 2003 X86, VSTS 9.0.30729.1 SP I used "Attach to process" to debug the program, but recently when I "Stop Debugging" by "shift + f5", I was prompted with an error saying "VS has an internal error and will be unstable". After that all the debug related menu items were disabled e.g. "Start debugging" and "attach to process" etc., even when I forcibly closed the program the situation remained, leaving me the only option to restart the solution. The only reason I can think of causing this is that I forcibly kill the process a lot, in order to able to rebuild it quickly, other than that I didn't do anything abnormal to VS. another sympton: when I tried to close the VS normally, I was prompted with "source file [] does not belong to the project being debugged" for all the files I opened inside of IDE, but the file does belong to the project. Thanks for any reply.

  • C# menustrip designer

    - by Iceyoshi
    Hi, I'm not sure when this happened but when I was trying to edit a menustrip in my program (in the VS designer), I noticed that the menu items had be grouped or merged. Like: File Edit Format Insert ... Instead of being able to click each menu item and add sub-items to them in the designer, they all were grouped together so I couldn't edit the menu items separately, it's quite painful. I couldn't find any properties related to this, so how could I ungroup the menu items in the designer?

  • treeview dynamically populated

    - by Laziale
    Hello everyone - I have this treeview control where I want to put uploaded files on the server. I want to be able to create the nodes and the child nodes dynamically from the database. I am using this query for getting the data from DB: SELECT c.Category, d.DocumentName FROM Categories c INNER JOIN DocumentUserFile d ON c.ID = d.CategoryId WHERE d.UserId = '9rge333a-91b5-4521-b3e6-dfb49b45237c' The result from that query is this one: Agendas transactions.pdf Minutes accounts.pdf I want to have the treeview sorted that way too. I am trying with this piece of code: TreeNode tn = new TreeNode(); TreeNode tnSub = new TreeNode(); foreach (DataRow dt in tblTreeView.Rows) { tn.Text = dt[0].ToString(); tn.Value = dt[0].ToString(); tnSub.Text = dt[1].ToString(); tnSub.NavigateUrl = "../downloading.aspx?file=" + dt[1].ToString() +"&user=" + userID; tn.ChildNodes.Add(tnSub); tvDocuments.Nodes.Add(tn); } I am getting the treeview populated nicely for the 1st category and the document under that category, but I can't get it to work when I want to show more documents under that category, or even more complicate to show new category beneath the 1st one with documents from that category. How can I solve this? I appreciate the answers a lot. Thanks, Laziale
