  • android thread management onPause

    - by Kwan Cheng
I have a class that extends the Thread class and has its run method implemented as so. public void run(){ while(!terminate){ if(paused){ Thread.yield(); }else{ accummulator++; } } } This thread is spawned from the onCreate method. When my UI is hidden (when the Home key is pressed) my onPause method will set the paused flag to true and yield the tread. However in the DDMS I still see the uTime of the thread accumulate and its state as "running". So my question is. What is the proper way to stop the thread so that it does not use up CPU time?

  • Code management in different projects with different svn repositories

    - by uzay95
First of all I want to tell you what kind of system I have and I want to build on. 1- A Solution (has) a- Shared Class Library project (which is for lots of different solutions) b- Another Class Library project (which is only for this solution) c- Web Application project (which main part of this solution) d- Shared Web Service project (which also serves for different solutions) 2- B Solution (has) a- Shared Class Library project (which is for lots of different solutions) c- Windows Form Application project (which is main part of this solution) d- Web Service project (which also serves for different solutions) and other projects like that.... I am using xp-dev.com as our svn repository server. And I opened different projects for these items (Shared Class Library, Web Service project, Windows Form Application project, Web Application project, Another Class Library project) . I want to do the versioning of all these projects of course. My first question is, should I put each project(one solution) to one svn repository to get their revision number later on? Or should I put each of them to different svn repository and keep( write down) their correct version number that is used to publish/deploy every solution? If I use one svn for each project(Shared Class Lib, Web App, Shared Web Service....) how can I relate the right svn address and version on VS.2010 within the real solution? So, how do you manage your repositories and projects?

  • TSQL Writing into a Temporary Table from Dynamic SQL

    - by Jeff
Consider the following code: SET @SQL1 = 'SELECT * INTO #temp WHERE ...' exec(@SQL1) SELECT * from #temp (this line throws an error that #temp doesn't exist) Apparently this is because the exec command spins off a separate session and #temp is local to that session. I can use a global temporary table ##temp, but then I have to come up with a naming scheme to avoid collisions. What do you all recommend?

  • jQuery Validator - Dynamic Text

    - by James
Adding a validator to my form: jQuery.validator.addMethod('whatever', function(val, el) { // whatever goes here }, 'A maximum of ' + $('#my_id_here').val() + ' categories can be selected.'); This doesn't fly. I always get undefined. Is this a good, simple way to do this? Thanks

  • C# Dynamic IF Else Statment [closed]

    - by Tan Liang Liang
allrowcol[i] = rowcol + "||"; Is it possible to put : if (loop == allrowcol.ToString()) If not, how can I place a few values inside an if statement? I need to have a few values in the if, and this value is generated from a text file. e.g. if(loop==11||14||15||16") My array for the allrowcol.ToString() is "11||14||15||16||". rowcol is the number that I extract from my text file. But my if (read as a whole string). What can I do?

  • Creating objects and referencing before saving object to db

    - by Flexo
Sorry about the vague title, but i didnt know how to ask the question in one line :) I have an order with nested itemgroups that again have nested items. the user specify the amount of item that he would like to have in each itemgroup. I would like to create these items in the create method of the orders controller when the order itself is being created. I kinda have 2 problems here. First, how do i set the reference of the items, or better yet, put the items into the @order object so they are saved when the @order is saved? the items are being stored in the db as the code is now, but the reference is not set because the order is not stored in the db yet so it doesnt have an id yet. Second, im not sure im using the correct way to get the id from my itemgroup. @order = Order.new(params[:order]) @order.itemgroups.each do |f| f.amount.times do @item = Item.new() @item.itemgroup_id = f.id @item.save end end

  • CodeMirror Dynamic Syntax Validation

    - by rawr
Been trying to decide between using CodeMirror or Ace editor. I've been leaning towards CodeMirror, however there's one feature of Ace that I really like and that is how it does syntax validation. So as I'm typing there can appear a warning or error icon in the left gutter area beside the line number, and when I hover over it it gives me a little description. Is there any way to get this functionality in CodeMirror? Specifically, I'm using the css mode for CodeMirror. It'd also be nice to be able to add in my own custom validation. Thanks.

  • Memory usage of strings (or any other objects) in .Net

    - by ava
    I wrote this little test program: using System; namespace GCMemTest { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { System.GC.Collect(); System.Diagnostics.Process pmCurrentProcess = System.Diagnostics.Process.GetCurrentProcess(); long startBytes = pmCurrentProcess.PrivateMemorySize64; double kbStart = (double)(startBytes) / 1024.0; System.Console.WriteLine("Currently using " + kbStart + "KB."); { int size = 2000000; string[] strings = new string[size]; for(int i = 0; i < size; i++) { strings[i] = "blabla" + i; } } System.GC.Collect(); pmCurrentProcess = System.Diagnostics.Process.GetCurrentProcess(); long endBytes = pmCurrentProcess.PrivateMemorySize64; double kbEnd = (double)(endBytes) / 1024.0; System.Console.WriteLine("Currently using " + kbEnd + "KB."); System.Console.WriteLine("Leaked " + (kbEnd - kbStart) + "KB."); System.Console.ReadKey(); } } } The output in Release build is: Currently using 18800KB. Currently using 118664KB. Leaked 99864KB. I assume that the GC.collect call will remove the allocated strings since they go out of scope, but it appears it does not. I do not understand nor can I find an explanation for it. Maybe anyone here? Thanks, Alex

  • JS: Storing dynamic variables across pages?

    - by user2467599
I've been looking into local storage options and plugins like Persist.js, sessvars.js, and even sisyphus.js - but I am unsure if any are the best fit (though I'm fairly certain I need to use one). Page one is a form with input fields for data like names, phones, and email. I have a button that replicates a wrapper div (and it's inputs) as long as more inputs are needed. When the form is filled the user hits submit which takes them to a 'confirmation' type php page. I need to the give the user an 'edit' button on page 2 that takes them back to page 1 and leaves all the info alone. For the most part everything returns fine, but if the user had hit the 'replicate' button before submission, and then hits edit afterwards, all the inputs that were dynamically generated return empty and the div no longer exists. Someone suggested that my variables are not persistent (when the replicate button is hit, input with an id="name1" becomes "name2" and so on) so that's when I found out about the plugins mentioned before. Is there a way that I can implement one of those plugins (or any other method) so that when the user returns to page one the div and it's input values remain unchanged? And if I'm on the right track are there any examples?

  • Storing C++ templated objects as same type

    - by JaredC
I have a class that is a core component of a performance sensitive code path, so I am trying to optimize it as much as possible. The class used to be: class Widget { Widget(int n) : N(n) {} .... member functions that use the constant value N .... const int N; // just initialized, will never change } The arguments to the constructor are known at compile time, so I have changed this class to a template, so that N can be compiled into the functions: template<int N> class Widget { .... member functions that use N .... } I have another class with a method: Widget & GetWidget(int index); However, after templating Widget, each widget has a different type so I cannot define the function like this anymore. I considered different inheritance options, but I'm not sure that the performance gain from the template would outweigh the cost of inherited function invocations. SO, my question is this: I am pretty sure I want the best of both worlds (compile-time / run-time), and it may not be possible. But, is there a way to gain the performance of knowing N at compile time, but still being able to return Widgets as the same type? Thanks!

  • Dynamic Views based on view models

    - by Joe
I have an asp.net mvc 2 app. I need to display the same page to each user. But each user has different rights to the data. IE some can see but not edit some data, some cannot edit nor see the data. Ideally data that cannot be seen nor edited is whitespace on the view. For security reasons I want my viewmodels to be sparse as possible. By that I mean if a field cannot be seen nor edited , that field should not be on the viewmodel. Obviously I can write view for each view model but that seems wasteful. So here is my idea/wishlist Can I decorate the viewmodel with attributes and hook into a pre render event of the html helpers and tell it to do &nbsp; instead??? Can I have the html helpers output &nbsp; for entries not found on the viewmodel?? or can I easily convert a view built into code then programaticlly build the markup and then put into the render engine to be processed and viewd as html on client side??

  • C# Using Reflection to Get a Generic Object's (and its Nested Objects) Properties

    - by Jimbo
This is a scenario created to help understand what Im trying to achieve. I am trying to create a method that returns the specified property of a generic object e.g. public object getValue<TModel>(TModel item, string propertyName) where TModel : class{ PropertyInfo p = typeof(TModel).GetProperty(propertyName); return p.GetValue(item, null); } The code above works fine if you're looking for a property on the TModel item e.g. string customerName = getValue<Customer>(customer, "name"); However, if you want to find out what the customer's group's name is, it becomes a problem: e.g. string customerGroupName = getValue<Customer>(customer, "Group.name"); Hoping someone can give me some insight on this way out scenario - thanks.

  • How to order my objects in a C++ class correctly

    - by Julen
Hello, I have been coding regurlarly in C++ in the past months. I am getting used to it step by step... but there are things that confuse me about formatting. I know there is a lot of legacy from C that I supousee mixes with C++. This time I have doubts about how to order properly my members and functions within in a class. Also considering their access modifiers. How is the convention in this? Until know I am doing everything "public" and writing first constructor of class, then destructor, next members and finally functions. It this correct? What happens when introducing "private" and "protected" access modifiers or "virtual" functions? From the documents I have look in the Internet there is different ways of doing things. But my questions aims to get the knowledge from a community that develops in C++ that I want to blend into. ;-) Thanks a lot!!!

  • WPF Custom Control containing a List of Objects

    - by Cecile
Hi, I have an object Trip in my object model containing a list of Nodes (e.g. NodeName, StartDate and EndDate) and I am trying to build a Custom control in WPF that draws list of rectangles: one for each Node contained in the Trip object (based on StartDate en EndDate) Would you have any hint on how the Custom Control should be structured so that I can bind a Trip object to it and draw the rectangles properly, please?

  • LINQ To SQL Dynamic Select

    - by mcass20
    Can someone show me how to indicate which columns I would like returned at run-time from a LINQ To SQL statement? I am allowing the user to select items in a checkboxlist representing the columns they would like displayed in a gridview that is bound to the results of a L2S query. I am able to dynamically generate the WHERE clause but am unable to do the same with the SELECT piece. Here is a sample: var query = from log in context.Logs select log; query = query.Where(Log => Log.Timestamp > CustomReport.ReportDateStart); query = query.Where(Log => Log.Timestamp < CustomReport.ReportDateEnd); query = query.Where(Log => Log.ProcessName == CustomReport.ProcessName); foreach (Pair filter in CustomReport.ExtColsToFilter) { sExtFilters = "<key>" + filter.First + "</key><value>" + filter.Second + "</value>"; query = query.Where(Log => Log.FormattedMessage.Contains(sExtFilters)); }

  • PHP OOP: Parenting objects/functions?

    - by Industrial
Hi everyone, How is parenting functions in PHP done properly according to the following example? Can I make sure that my array isn't overwritten and the previous values inside array lost, on each addArray call? function arraybase() { $this->array = new ArrayObject(); return $this; } function addArray($value) { parent::$this->arraybase(); $this->array->append($value); return $this; } $this->addArray('1')->addArray('2')->addArray('3'); // outputs: Array ( [0] => 3 ) Thanks a lot!

  • vb.net more performance for moving objects

    - by René
I have the mission to make a small game for a school project. Pictures boxes, moved by a timer for walking enemies. If there are around 5 or 6 moving picture boxes at the form, my application get troubles and lags. After I kill some enemies (remove them from the Controls Collection of the Form/Panel) It come back smooth. I think the loop of the enemy movement is too complicated but I don't know how to make that simpler. Private Sub TimerEnemyMovement_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TimerEnemyMovement.Tick For Each Enemy As Control In PanelBackground.Controls If Enemy.Name.Substring(0, 5) = "Enemy" Then _enemy.MoveEnemy(Enemy, 2) End If Next End Sub I also thought about Multithreading but not sure this would solve the problem and there is also the problem that I can't access the Controls of my mainform. You see, I don't have much knowledge about vb.net Any ideas how to fix that lag?

  • C#: Storting Instance of Objects in (Hashtable)

    - by DaGambit
Hi I tried filling a Hashtable in the following way: ResearchCourse resCourse= new ResearchCourse();//Class Instance resCourse.CID="RC1000"; resCourse.CName="Rocket Science"; TaughtCourse tauCourse= new TaughtCourse();//Class Instance tauCourse.CID="TC1000"; tauCourse.CName="Marketing"; Hashtable catalog = new Hashtable(); catalog.Add("1", "resCourse.CID"); catalog.Add("2", "tauCourse.CID"); foreach (DictionaryEntry de in catalog) { Console.WriteLine("{0}, {1}", de.Key, de.Value); } Output Result to Console was: 1, resCourse.CID 2, tauCourse.CID Expected Result to be: 1, RC1000 2, TC2000 What am I misunderstanding about Hashtables? What is an easy way for the Hashtable to store the class instance and its values?

  • CodeIgniter URI routing (dynamic, multilingual)

    - by koteko
I'm trying to redirect all routs to one main controller. Here is my routes.php $route['default_controller'] = "main"; $route['scaffolding_trigger'] = ""; //$route['(\w{2})/(.*)'] = '$2'; //$route['(\w{2})'] = $route['default_controller']; $route['(en|ge)/(:any)'] = $route['default_controller']."/index/$1"; $route['(:any)'] = $route['default_controller']."/index/$1"; I need language id to be passed with every link (like: http://site.com/en/hello-world) Here is my main controller: class Main extends Controller { function __construct() { parent::Controller(); } function index($page_type=false, $param=false) { die($page_type.' | '.$param.'| Aaa!'); } } I want to check if predefined file type exists (like: http://site.com/en/archive/05-06-2010 - here predefined type would be archive) then do something. If not then search in the database for slug. If not found then go to 404. The problem is that I can't get index function parameters ($page_type, $param). Thanks for help.

  • Fastest way to compare Objects of type DateTime

    - by radbyx
    I made this. Is this the fastest way to find lastest DateTime of my collection of DateTimes? I'm wondering if there is a method for what i'm doing inside the foreach, but even if there is, I can't see how it can be faster than what i all ready got. List<StateLog> stateLogs = db.StateLog.Where(p => p.ProductID == product.ProductID).ToList(); DateTime lastTimeStamp = DateTime.MinValue; foreach (var stateLog in stateLogs) { int result = DateTime.Compare(lastTimeStamp, stateLog.TimeStamp); if (result < 0) lastTimeStamp = stateLog.TimeStamp; // sæt fordi timestamp er senere }

  • What is the best way to handle dynamic content_type in Sinatra

    - by lusis
I'm currently doing the following but it feels "kludgy": module Sinatra module DynFormat def dform(data,ct) if ct == 'xml';return data.to_xml;end if ct == 'json';return data.to_json;end end end helpers DynFormat end My goal is to plan ahead. Right now we're only working with XML for this particular web service but we want to move over to JSON as soon as all the components in our stack support it. Here's a sample route: get '/api/people/named/:name/:format' do format = params[:format] h = {'xml' => 'text/xml','json' => 'application/json'} content_type h[format], :charset => 'utf-8' person = params[:name] salesperson = Salespeople.find(:all, :conditions => ['name LIKE ?', "%#{person}%"]) "#{dform(salesperson, format)}" end It just feels like I'm not doing it the best way possible.
