• Routing configuration in cakephp

  Hello all I am trying to implement routing in cakephp. I want the urls to mapped like this... www.example.com/nodes/main - www.example.com/main www.example.com/nodes/about - www.example.com/about So for this I wrote in my config/routes.php file.. Router::connect('/:action', array('controller' => 'nodes')); Now, I got the thing going but when I click on the links, the url in browser appears like www.example.com/nodes/main www.example.com/nodes/about Is there some way where I can get the urls to appear the way they are routed? Setting in .htaccess or httpd.conf would be easy - but I don't have access to that. Regards Vikram

  Hello, I am trying to figure out if it is possible to implement a .NET interface, where the interface method has to return something and you are implementing that particular interface method with an asynchronous WCF service? Hopefully you should already see the issue I am encountering. Here is the interface: public interface IDataService { IDataServiceResponse SendDataRequest(); } IDataServiceResponse is supposed to represent a simple container that holds the result of my asynchronous WCF callback.   Hello, The query below works well. It pulls data from two MySQL tables, "submission" and "login." I would like to also pull data from a third table called "comment" in the same database. The table "comment" has the following fields: commentid, loginid, submissionid, comment, datecommented Two of the fields in the table "login" are called "loginid" and "username." In the query below, I would like to count all "commentid" in "comment" where "loginid" equals the "loginid" in "login" where "username" equals "$profile." How can I do this?   Im new to PHP and I can't figure out what the rules are for using the echo function. For example, if I need to echo a large block of css/js, do I need to add echo to each line of text or is there a way to echo a large block of code with a single echo?   In my application, a company can have many employees and each employee may have have multiple email addresses. The database schema relates the tables like this: Company - CompanyEmployeeXref - Employee - EmployeeAddressXref - Email I am using Entity Framework and I want to create a LINQ query that returns the name of the company and a comma-separated list of it's employee's email addresses. If you are still following me so far, you probably know that the new Office Document formats are incompatible with IStorage containers. The application I'm trying to update, relied upon the IPersistStorage interface that all Office applications have, and the code as written calls the load method of IPersistStorage to read in a document from IStorage interface.   Hello, I am looking at some sort of existing filter which can sanitize the user input to avoid XSS. Probably I can use htmlspecialchars for that. But at the same time I want to be able to parse all links (should match a.com, www.a.com and http://www.a.com and if it is http://www.aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.com then it should display it as aaa..a.com), e-mails and smileys. I am wondering what is the best way to go about it. I am currently using a php function with some regex, but many times the regex simply fails (because of link recognition is incorrect etc.). I want something very similar to the parser used during Google Chat (even a.com works). Thank you for your time.

• Why use MySQL over flatfiles?

  A friend and I were debating about whether he should use MySQL or a flatfile database for his website's backend. I told him to go with MySQL because it was structured, held records well, and was consistent. He on the other hand said that he would rather go for speed. Reading files is a lot quicker than connecting to MySQL and it made me wonder whether he was right. For example, why not just create a folder for each table, like so: users/ groups/ posts/, within the folders have the files named by ID (1, 2, 3) and then for the data use a format like so: username: John\npassword: e2fc714c4727ee9395f324cd2e7f331f\nemail: [email protected]? In other words, what are the advantages of MySQL over flatfiles?

• Checking if a blob exists in Azure Storage

  Hi, I've got a very simple question (I hope!) - I just want to find out if a blob (with a name I've defined) exists in a particular container. I'll be downloading it if it does exist, and if it doesn't then I'll do something else. I've done some searching on the intertubes and apparently there used to be a function called DoesExist or something similar... but as with so many of the Azure APIs, this no longer seems to be there (or if it is, has a very cleverly disguised name). Or maybe I'm missing something simple... :) John

• How to sort a Ruby Hash by number value?

  Hi everyone, I have a counter hash that I am trying to sort by count. The problem I am running into is that the default Hash.sort function sorts numbers like strings rather than by number size. i.e. Given Hash: metrics = {"sitea.com" => 745, "siteb.com" => 9, "sitec.com" => 10 } Running this code: metrics.sort {|a1,a2| a2[1]<=>a1[1]} will return a sorted array: [ 'siteb.com', 9, 'sitea.com', 745, 'sitec.com', 10] Even though 745 is a larger number than 9, 9 will appear first in the list. When trying to show who has the top count, this is making my life difficult. :) Any ideas on how to sort a hash (or an array even) by number value size? I appreciate any help.

The only common library used between the 2 apps is the FlurryAgent.jar for analytics. For the top app I have For the bottom app I have in the manifests. The only information I have been able to find out is about libraries (GSON) and needing to use dx but I am using Eclipse so that doesn't help. To make this more difficult, the error does NOT occur on the Android Market. Yet the testers at Amazon say that it FC 5/5 times on each of their devices (I tried using an emulator for their test devices and they worked fine). I know they use "wrapper" code around my app and I think it must be interfering in some way. Does anyone have any experience with this?

  I have SSL enabled for subdomain.mydomain.com so I can access files via https://subdomain.mydomain.com. Now please tell me if I'm right.. if I have file somwhere in subdomain.mydomain.com called index.php I can securely access it via: https://subdomain.mydomain.com/someFolder/index.php but I can also access it via http://subdomain.mydomain.com/someFolder/index.php This time communication won't be encrypted though. So now it comes down to links only if I access files in subdomain.mydomain.com securely or not? I will have another related question (and many more probably), but will post it as separate topic to keep things clean :)

• Tricking the server to load files faster?

  If we have a website with multiple images and videos, I've read that it's best to serve them from other domains so that the browser can simultaneously download a bunch of files, rather than waiting one by one for each file to be downloaded. For example, if we have a website http://example.com/, we might consider serving: Videos from http://video.example.com/ Images from http://images.example.com/ etc. Question: can we achieve the simultaneous downloading by tricking the browser into believing that the files are hosted there, or do they actually need to be at that location? We can, for example, pretend to serve video from http://video.example.com/ when actually it's just a clever htaccess rewrite that ACTUALLY serves from http://example.com/video.php. In this case, the video is being served from the main domain but because we refer it as http://video.example.com/, it may think that it's another domain and thus load files simultaneously, rather than one by one. Is this feasible?

  I'm trying to render data from an AJAX response as a bar chart with jqplot. To render this bar chart I use two variables: s1 which contains the numbers ex: s1 = [22,67,32,89] ticks which contains the name corresponding to a number inside s1 ex: ticks = ["Jack", "Mary", "Paul", "John"] So my AJAX returns two variables, data1 and data2.   Within Eclipse, everything works perfectly when I run 'mvn install android:deploy'...however, this takes about 18 seconds to complete. Is there a faster way to launch my android application. • JTextPane insert component, faulty vertical alignment

  I have a JTextPane, into which I need to insert a JComponent. I'm using JTextPane.insertComponent(Component). The item is indeed inserted, but the vertical positioning is too high. Instead of having the bottom of the component aligned with the baseline of the current line of text, the component is way above that position, blocking out/over-painting lines of text appearing above. I have tried calling setAlignmentY(float) with various values, on both the inserted component and the JTextPane, but it doesn't affect the behavior at all. My guess: there seems to be some state inside my JTextPane or its Document that I need to be changing. But I don't know what it is. John

• Powerpoint file can be deleted without consequence

  I am working on a license management type application that copies a password protected zip file to the applications root. The user clicks a button "Open Presentation" and the zipped file is extracted into the root folder and then I use the Office interop to open the file in Powerpoint. At this point to my surprise I am able to delete the extracted file that is currently open in the Powerpoint application. I had assumed that trying to delete the file would fail as the file is still open in Powerpoint. Why is it allowing me to delete the file? Is the file somehow copied to a temp folder and then opened in PowerPoint? Can I move forward with the application relying on this ability to delete the file as soon as it is opened in Powerpoint? This would be optimal because it helps insure that the file cannot be copied(I am also using the xml to stop "Save As" and "Save" from appearing int Powerpoint). Thanks for the insight, John

• SelfReferenceProperty vs. ListProperty Google App Engine

  Hi All, I am experimenting with the Google App Engine and have a question. For the sake of simplicity, let's say my app is modeling a computer network (a fairly large corporate network with 10,000 nodes). I am trying to model my Node class as follows: class Node(db.Model): name = db.StringProperty() neighbors = db.SelfReferenceProperty() Let's suppose, for a minute, that I cannot use a ListProperty(). Based on my experiments to date, I can assign only a single entity to 'neighbors' - and I cannot use the "virtual" collection (node_set) to access the list of Node neighbors. So... my questions are: Does SelfReferenceProperty limit you to a single entity that you can reference? If I instead use a ListProperty, I believe I am limited to 5,000 keys, which I need to exceed.   Has anyone spent any time comparing the various Objective C bridges and associated Cocoa wrappers for Mono? I want to port an existing C# application to run on OS X. Ideally I'd run the application on Mono, and build a native Cocoa UI for it. I'm wondering which bridge would be the best choice.
