  • "Metadata information not found" while using EF4's POCO Template?

    I just installed the POCO Template for EF4. I have a single entity in my model, AnnouncementText, and the T4 files seem to be properly generated. Attempting to access this new entity is throwing the following error when I access the auto-generated property MyObjectContext.AnnouncementTexts: InvalidOperationException: Mapping and metadata information could not be found for EntityType 'MyNamespace.AnnouncementText'. The properties on the AnnouncementText POCO seem to match up with the columns in the database, and I haven't changed any of the auto-generated code. The stack trace is: at System.Data.Objects.ObjectContext.GetTypeUsage(Type entityCLRType) at System.Data.Objects.ObjectContext.GetEntitySetForNameAndType(String entitySetName, Type entityCLRType, String exceptionParameterName) at System.Data.Objects.ObjectContext.CreateObjectSet[TEntity](String entitySetName) at MyNamespace.MyObjectContext.get_AnnouncementTexts() in C:\<snip>\MyObjectContext.Context.cs:line 65 at MyNamespace.Class1.Main() in C:\<snip>\Class1.cs:line 14 If I delete the .tt files from the solution and enable code generation on the model, I am able to access the property without issue.     I am developing a Database File System. I am using - .Net framework 3.5 Entity Framework 3.5 WPF with MVVM pattern The project spans across multiple assemblies each using same model. One assembly,let's call it a "server", only adds data to the database using EF i.e. same model.Other assemblies (including the UI) both reads and writes the data.The changes made by server should immediately reflect in other assemblies. The database contains self referencing tables where each entity can have single OR no parent and (may be) some children. I want to use repository pattern which can also provide some mechanism to handle this hierarchical nature. I have already done reading on this on Code Project. It shares the same context(entities) everywhere. My question is - Should I share the same context everywhere? What are the advantages and disadvantages of doing that?

  • Access, ADO & 64-bit

    We have a large codebase that uses ADO under 32-bit, and we need to convert the code to 64-bit. We were using the Jet provider, but I know this is not supported under x64. We're importing definitions from msado15.dll. As of a while ago a 64-bit version of this DLL became available, but we are unable to get it to work. Obviously, we tested the code under 32 bit and got the desired results. On the 64-bit machine, the code explicitly imports from the known 64-bit version of msado15.dll (v6.1.7600.nnn). The machine has had the Office Data Providers (AccessDatabaseEngine_x64.exe) applied to get the new ACE drivers (ACEODBC.DLL, v14.nnn.nnn.nnn). If I look at Data Source under Administrator Tools (I know ODBC isn't the same as ADO, it was just to confirm the DLL was installed correctly), it shows the expected DLL. I can even confirm, using Process Explorer, that the version of msado15.dll it loads at run time (thus confirming that COM is finding the ADO dll) is the 64-bit version. I believe we have MDAC 2.8 installed (we have msado28.tlb in the same place as msado15.dll, but that might have been installed by AccessDatabaseEngine_x64.exe). The test machine is Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit. The test code was recompiled on that machine using VS2008 for x64 in full Release and run externally. And yet, we still get COM error 0x800a0e7a (Provider not found). Is there anything any one can suggest as to why this isn't working, or what further tests / checks I can perform to verify that I have all the right stuff on the machine (and thus, that it should work)? I know that ODBC will work under x64 (tried the test program using that) but rewriting our code base for ODBC would be undesirable!

    Hi, I am trying to use the Silverlight DataStateBehavior, it works fine in most cases where I click a button which sets say a 'Selected' Property in the view model to either false or true. The DataStateBehavior then tells the VisualStateManager to go to the relevant state. Like this: <Button...> <i:Interaction.Behaviors> <id:DataStateBehavior Binding="{Binding Selected}" Value="True" TrueState="SelectedVisualState" FalseState="DeselectedVisualState"/> </i:Interaction.Behaviors> </Button> The above works fine. What I am trying to do though is to get it to set the correct state when the application loads, if I were to set the 'Selected' property on the view model to true by default I wouldn't see any changes in the UI until I clicked the button to change the viewmodel property.     Hello everybody. I'm doing a small web app, which uses CKeditor for user input, and CKfinder for file management (images/flash). Those who know CKFinder, algo know that the config file for CKFinder as a function named CheckAuthentication() that returns false or true, giving or not permissions to use CKFinder. This is were a Custom PHP Code checks if the user as authorization to access CKFinder or not. Well for my app I'm using Code Igniter, and of course I've created a model were i handle everything about User Permissions, Loggin, Session Cookies, etc. And i also have a function witch its propose is just to check if the user is Logged in. So I would like to know if someone knows a way that i can call the function isLoggedIn() inside the model security from inside the function CheckAuthentication() in CKFinder config file.     I'm looking for a Java library for SWIFT messages. I want to parse SWIFT messages into an object model validate SWIFT messages (including SWIFT network validation rules) build / change SWIFT messages by using an object model Theoretically, I need to support all SWIFT message types. But at the moment I need MT103+, MT199, MT502, MT509, MT515 and MT535. So far I've looked at two libraries AnaSys Message Objects (link text) Datamation SWIFT Message Suite (link text) Both libraries allow to accomplish the tasks mentioned above but in both cases I'm not really happy. AnaSys uses a internal XML representation for all SWIFT messages which you need to know in order to access the fields of a message. And you need to operate on the DOM of the XML representation, there is no way to say "get the contents of field '50K' of the SWIFT message". And the Datamation library seems to have the nicer API but does not find all errors. So does anyone know other SWIFT libraries to use?

    I'm trying to pass a ViewData object from a master page to a view user control using the ViewDataDictionary. The problem is the ViewDataDictionary is not returning any values in the view user control whichever way i try it. The sample code below is using an anonymous object just for demonstration although neither this method or passing a ViewData object works. Following is the RenderPartial helper method i'm trying to use: <% Html.RenderPartial("/Views/Project/Projects.ascx", ViewData.Eval("Projects"), new ViewDataDictionary(new { Test = "Mark" })); %> and in my view user control i do the following: <%= Html.Encode(ViewData["Test"]) %> Why does this not return anything? EDIT: I'm able to pass and access the stronlgy typed model without any problems. it's the ViewDataDictionary which i'm trying to use to pass say just a single value outside of the model..

  • cakephp routing problem, plugin routing works but not others

    I'm having a strange routing problem with a site I just uploaded, and I've made a number of changes to test what's happening. It doesn't make any sense. My setup is: - I'm using one plugin, which I've included all the routing in the routes.php file. - I've also included the routes for two other controllers, 'events' and 'updates' they look like this: Router::connect('/login', array('plugin' = 'pippoacl', 'controller' = 'users', 'action' = 'login')); Router::connect('/logout', array('plugin' = 'pippoacl', 'controller' = 'users', 'action' = 'logout')); Router::connect( '/events/', array( 'controller' = 'events', 'action' = 'index')); Router::connect('/updates', array('controller' = 'updates', 'action' = 'index')); What happens when I try to get to 'events' is that I get an error message saying: "Not Found Error: The requested address '/Events' was not found on this server." I've checked the database and it's accessible, through the plugin's model/controller/view. I've also made sure the model/controllers for 'events' and 'updates' are there. If for example I have a customer object with a child list of account how do I: Create a display template for the list of accounts, what is the file called? When I'm doing a foreach( var c in Model.Accounts ) how do I call a display temple while in the foreach loop?     All, Getting to grips with ASP.NET MVC. So far, so good, but this one is a little nuts. I have a view model that contains a dictionary of attributes for a hyperlink, used like this: menu = model variable Html.ActionLink(Html.Encode(menu.Name), Html.Encode(menu.Action), Html.Encode(menu.Controller), menu.Attributes, null) The problem is the position of "menu.Attributes" expects an object in the form: new { Name = "Fred", Age=24 } From what I can tell, this anonymous object is actually converted to a dictionary via reflection anyway BUT you can't pass a dictionary to it in the first place!!! The Html generated for the link simply shows the dictionary type. How on earth do I get round this? The whole point is that its general and the controller can have set the menu.Attributes previously....

  • WPF ComboBox Binding to non string object

    I'm using MVVM (MVVM Light Toolkit) and have a property on the view model which exposes a list of objects. The objects contain two properties, both strings, which correlate to an abbreviation and a description. I want the ComboBox to expose the pairing as "abbreviation - description". If I use a data template, it does this easily. I have another property on the view model which represents the object that should display as selected -- the chosen item in the ComboBox. I'm binding the ItemsSource to the list, as it represents the universe of available selections, and am trying to bind the SelectedItem to this object. I'm killing myself trying to figure out why I can't get it to work, and feeling more like a fraud by the hour. In trying to learn why this works, I created the same approach with just a list of strings, and a selected string. This works perfectly. So, it clearly has something to do with the typing... perhaps something in choosing equality? Or perhaps it has to do with the data template?   • libevent, windows and .NET programming

    I experiment with a lot of open source software and I've noticed a fair amount of server type applications in the open source world use libevent to facilitate event-based processing rather than spawn multiple threads to handle requests. I also do a lot of .NET programming (it's my core job function), and I'm interested in learning how libevent relates to the .NET event model. Are events in .NET the equivalent of libevent for C programs? Should I try to learn libevent and attempt to use it in custom .NET server applications or is using the standard .NET event model basically the same thing?

    I am currently working with the Microsoft MVVM template and find the lack of detailed examples frustrating. The included ContactBook example shows very little Command handling and the only other example I've found is from an MSDN Magazine article where the concepts are similar but uses a slightly different approach and still lack in any complexity. Are there any decent MVVM examples that at least show basic CRUD operations and dialog/content switching?   • Button click does not start Service in Android App Widget

    I'm having trouble starting a Service to update an AppWidget that I'm creating as an exercise. I'm trying to get the latitude and longitude of spoofed location data from DDMS to display in the widget. The widget uses a service to update the TextView, which may be slightly overkill, but I wanted to follow the template that seems to be common in AppWidgets that do more work (like the Forecast widget or the Wiktionary widget). Right now, I'm not getting any error messages or strange behavior; nothing at all happens when the button is pressed. I'm a bit mystified as to what might be wrong. Could anyone out there point me in the right direction? Additionally, if my logic for location is faulty, I'd love recommendations on that too. I've looked at several blogs, the Google examples, and the documentation, but I feel a little fuzzy on how it works.   • Silverlight: DataContractSerializer cannot handle read only collection properties

    Hey Stackoverflowers :) For our Silverlight Project (SL4) I'm using a Model which might contain Lists (IList<AnotherModel>). According to good practice and rule CA2227:CollectionPropertiesShouldBeReadOnly the IList properties don't have a public setter. We serialize the Model using the DataContractSerializer which is working. But when I try to deserialize, a SecurityException is thrown by DataContractSerializer's ReadObject(Stream) Method, complaining that the target property (pointing to the IList property) cannot be set due to a missing public setter. Since the DataContractSerializer is sealed and neither extendable nor flexible so I currently see no chance to add some kind of additional rules which allow to deserialize the ILists using a foreach-loop on Add() method or some other method of transferring the collection items. I've also tried to dig into DataContractSerializer source (using Reflector) to create a little fork but it looks like i'd have to dig very deep and replicating whole serialization classes doesn't seem to be a viable solution. Do you see another chance to serialize a List with no public setter using the DataContractSerializer? Thank you very much in advance for your ideas! Thomas

  • Spring MVC Controller redirect using URL parameters instead of in response.

    I am trying to implement RESTful urls in my Spring MVC application. All is well except for handling form submissions.     I have a Django model that relies on a tuple. I'm wondering what the best practice is for refering to constants within that tuple for my Django program. Here, for example, I'd like to specify "default=0" as something that is more readable and does not require commenting. Any suggestions? Status = ( (-1, 'Cancelled'), (0, 'Requires attention'), (1, 'Work in progress'), (2, 'Complete'), ) class Task(models.Model): status = models.IntegerField(choices=Status, default=0) # Status is 'Requires attention' (0) by default. EDIT: If possible I'd like to avoid using a number altogether. Somehow using the string 'Requires attention' instead would be more readable.
