  • Using ViewModel Pattern with MVC 2 Strongly Typed HTML Helpers

    I am working with ASP.NET MVC2 RC and can't figure out how to get the HTML helper, TextBoxfor to work with a ViewModel pattern. When used on an edit page the data is not saved when UpdateModel() is called in the controller. I have taken the following code examples from the NerdDinner application. When the new (MVC2) helper style is used (Http.TextBoxFor) the UpdateModel(dinner) call does not update the values. Yes, the current values are loaded into the edit page on load. Is there something else which I need to add to the controller code for it to work? The new helper works fine if I am just using a model and not a ViewModel pattern. Thank you.

  • Using respond_to ... format.json and jQuery Form Plugin by malsup

    Hello all, I'm having a tad bit of trouble getting the jQuery Form Plugin to work properly with a file-upload field. When I use the plugin to submit the form without a file-upload field, the format.json portion of the respond_to do |format| block is called properly. However, by adding the file-upload field, it only executes the format.html portion which makes my javascript code think that an error has occurred. Has anyone run into this before or know a way to force the plugin to always use json? Alternatively, can I modify the url that the plugin uses to force Rails to render the json?   • i want to have some cross browser consistency on my fieldsets, do you know how can i do it?

    i have this problem with fieldsets... have a look at http://i.imgur.com/IRrXB.png is it possible to achieve what i want with css??? believe me, i tried! as you can see on the img, i just want the look of the legend to be consistent across browsers, i want it to use the width of the fieldset no more (like chrome and ie) no less (like firefox), dont worry about the rounded corners and other issues, thats taken care of. heres the the core i'm using. Every other list element is either given the class attribute li1 or li2 (the purpose of which is to alternate the colors). The list elements need the white-space: pre because the white space before and after the text node is important. The pre is to be 80% of the containing element (which ends up being 80% of the window's width). In the event of overflow in the x dimension, I want scrolling. I did all this in the above CSS, and it almost works. The issue I am having is that the background colors of the list elements don't extend with the content. They seem to be capped to the original width of the pre and/or ol element as demonstrated in the following picture where I scroll all the way right as possible: I tinkered with the CSS for a while, but I cannot determine the root cause for this or the fix. Looking for some advice on this one, thanks.     Hello, I'm using a slightly customized version of jwysiwyg for a website. I'm trying to change CSS values inside the textarea replacement (the iFrame where the text gets written) - but I just can't seem to figure out how. Do I have to create a new style sheet to apply to the iFrame? Specifically, I want to change the iframe's :active and font: css settings. Thanks, Walker

    Hi all, Two rows in the my database have the following data: brand | product | style ================================================= Doc Martens | Doc Martens 1460 Boots | NULL NewBalance | New Balance WR1062 SG Width | NULL Mininum word length is set to 3, and a FULLTEXT index is created across all the three columns above. When I run a search for IS BOOLEAN matches for +doc in the index, I get the first row returned as a result. When I search for +new, I get no results. Can someone explain why? Thanks.

The latter would look like this: somePermissions.read(true).write(false).execute(true) If I look at these methods separately I would expect that read reads something, but on the other hand it is closer to the intention to have something like named paramaters like in Scala: Permission(read=true, write=false, execute=true)
