  • Android java.lang.VerifyError for private method with annotated argument.

    - by alex2k8
I have a very simple project that compiles, but can't be started on Emulator. The problem is with this method: private void bar(@Some String a) {} // java.lang.VerifyError The issue can be avoided if annotation removed private void bar(String a) {} // OK or the method visibility changed: void bar(@Some String a) {} // OK public void bar(@Some String a) {} // OK protected void bar(@Some String a) {} // OK Any idea what is wrong with original method? Is this a dalvik bug, or? If some one whould like to experiment with code, here it is: Test.java: public class Test { private void bar(@Some String a) {} public void foo() { bar(null); } } Some.java: public @interface Some {} MainActivity.java: public class MainActivity extends Activity { @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); new Test().foo(); } } Stack trace: ERROR/dalvikvm(1358): Could not find method com.my.Test.bar, referenced from method com.my.Test.foo WARN/dalvikvm(1358): VFY: unable to resolve direct method 11: Lcom/my/Test;.bar (Ljava/lang/String;)V WARN/dalvikvm(1358): VFY: rejecting opcode 0x70 at 0x0001 WARN/dalvikvm(1358): VFY: rejected Lcom/my/Test;.foo ()V WARN/dalvikvm(1358): Verifier rejected class Lcom/my/Test; DEBUG/AndroidRuntime(1358): Shutting down VM WARN/dalvikvm(1358): threadid=3: thread exiting with uncaught exception (group=0x4000fe70) ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1358): Uncaught handler: thread main exiting due to uncaught exception ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1358): java.lang.VerifyError: com.my.Test ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1358): at com.my.MainActivity.onCreate(MainActivity.java:13) ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1358): at android.app.Instrumentation.callActivityOnCreate(Instrumentation.java:1123) ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1358): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2231) ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1358): at android.app.ActivityThread.handleLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2284) ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1358): at android.app.ActivityThread.access$1800(ActivityThread.java:112) ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1358): at android.app.ActivityThread$H.handleMessage(ActivityThread.java:1692) ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1358): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1358): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1358): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:3948) ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1358): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1358): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1358): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:782) ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1358): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:540) ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1358): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method)

  • Is O_NONBLOCK being set a property of the file descriptor or underlying file?

    - by Daniel Trebbien
From what I have been reading on The Open Group website on fcntl, open, read, and write, I get the impression that whether O_NONBLOCK is set on a file descriptor, and hence whether non-blocking I/O is used with the descriptor, should be a property of that file descriptor rather than the underlying file. Being a property of the file descriptor means, for example, that if I duplicate a file descriptor or open another descriptor to the same file, then I can use blocking I/O with one and non-blocking I/O with the other. Experimenting with a FIFO, however, it appears that it is not possible to have a blocking I/O descriptor and non-blocking I/O descriptor to the FIFO simultaneously (so whether O_NONBLOCK is set is a property of the underlying file [the FIFO]): #include <errno.h> #include <fcntl.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <unistd.h> int main(int argc, char **argv) { int fds[2]; if (pipe(fds) == -1) { fprintf(stderr, "`pipe` failed.\n"); return EXIT_FAILURE; } int fd0_dup = dup(fds[0]); if (fd0_dup <= STDERR_FILENO) { fprintf(stderr, "Failed to duplicate the read end\n"); return EXIT_FAILURE; } if (fds[0] == fd0_dup) { fprintf(stderr, "`fds[0]` should not equal `fd0_dup`.\n"); return EXIT_FAILURE; } if ((fcntl(fds[0], F_GETFL) & O_NONBLOCK)) { fprintf(stderr, "`fds[0]` should not have `O_NONBLOCK` set.\n"); return EXIT_FAILURE; } if (fcntl(fd0_dup, F_SETFL, fcntl(fd0_dup, F_GETFL) | O_NONBLOCK) == -1) { fprintf(stderr, "Failed to set `O_NONBLOCK` on `fd0_dup`\n"); return EXIT_FAILURE; } if ((fcntl(fds[0], F_GETFL) & O_NONBLOCK)) { fprintf(stderr, "`fds[0]` should still have `O_NONBLOCK` unset.\n"); return EXIT_FAILURE; // RETURNS HERE } char buf[1]; if (read(fd0_dup, buf, 1) != -1) { fprintf(stderr, "Expected `read` on `fd0_dup` to fail immediately\n"); return EXIT_FAILURE; } else if (errno != EAGAIN) { fprintf(stderr, "Expected `errno` to be `EAGAIN`\n"); return EXIT_FAILURE; } return EXIT_SUCCESS; } This leaves me thinking: is it ever possible to have a non-blocking I/O descriptor and blocking I/O descriptor to the same file and if so, does it depend on the type of file (regular file, FIFO, block special file, character special file, socket, etc.)?

  • NMock2.0 - how to stub a non interface call?

    - by dferraro
Hello, I have a class API which has full code coverage and uses DI to mock out all the logic in the main class function (Job.Run) which does all the work. I found a bug in production where we werent doing some validation on one of the data input fields. So, I added a stub function called ValidateFoo()... Wrote a unit test against this function to Expect a JobFailedException, ran the test - it failed obviously because that function was empty. I added the validation logic, and now the test passes. Great, now we know the validation works. Problem is - how do I write the test to make sure that ValidateFoo() is actually called inside Job.Run()? ValidateFoo() is a private method of the Job class - so it's not an interface... Is there anyway to do this with NMock2.0? I know TypeMock supports fakes of non interface types. But changing mock libs right now is not an option. At this point if NMock can't support it, I will simply just add the ValidateFoo() call to the Run() method and test things manually - which obviously I'd prefer not to do considering my Job.Run() method has 100% coverage right now. Any Advice? Thanks very much it is appreciated. EDIT: the other option I have in mind is to just create an integration test for my Job.Run functionality (injecting to it true implementations of the composite objects instead of mocks). I will give it a bad input value for that field and then validate that the job failed. This works and covers my test - but it's not really a unit test but instead an integration test that tests one unit of functionality.... hmm.. EDIT2: IS there any way to do tihs? Anyone have ideas? Maybe TypeMock - or a better design?

  • Layout of Ant build.xml with junit tests

    - by Derk
    In a project I have a folder src for all application source code and a different folder test for all junit test (both with a simular package hierarchy). Now I want that Ant can run all tests in in test folder, bot the problem is that now also files in the src folder with "Test" in the filename are included. This is the test target in the build.xml: <target name="test" depends="build"> <mkdir dir="reports/tests" /> <junit fork="yes" printsummary="yes"> <formatter type="xml"/> <classpath> <path location="${build}/WEB-INF/classes"/> <fileset dir="${projectname.home}/lib"> <include name="servlet-api.jar"/> <include name="httpunit.jar"/> <include name="Tidy.jar"/> <include name="js.jar"/> <include name="junit.jar"/> </fileset> </classpath> <batchtest todir="reports/tests"> <fileset dir="${build}/WEB-INF/classes"> <include name="**/*Test.class"/> </fileset> </batchtest> </junit> And I have added the test folder to the build target: <target name="build" depends="init,init-props,prepare"> <javac source="1.5" debug="true" destdir="${build}/WEB-INF/classes"> <src path="src" /> <src path="test" /> <classpath refid="classpath"/> </javac> </target>

  • Revert scan state when prompting for variable values

    - by Dave Jarvis
How do you detect the current SCAN state and revert it after changing it? An exerpt from the script in question: SET SCAN OFF SET ECHO ON SET SQLBLANKLINES ON SET SCAN ON UPDATE TABLE_NAME SET CREATED_BY = &&created_by; SET SCAN OFF The problem is that if the script doesn't have the first line (SET SCAN OFF), then the code to prompt the user should not turn the SCAN state off. In pseudocode, we'd like to do the following: SET SCAN OFF SET ECHO ON SET SQLBLANKLINES ON PUSH SCAN STATE SET SCAN ON UPDATE TABLE_NAME SET CREATED_BY = &&created_by; POP SCAN STATE The psudeocode PUSH SCAN STATE remembers the state so that if the code is altered by removing the first line, the rest of the script still works as expected.

  • Why my test xml is failing with very simple XSD Schema?

    - by JSteve
    Hi all, I am a bit novice in xml schema. I would be grateful if somebody help me out to understand why my xml is not being validated with the schema: Here is my Schema: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" targetNamespace="http://www.example.org/testSchema" xmlns="http://www.example.org/testSchema"> <xs:element name="Employee"> <xs:complexType> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="Name"> <xs:complexType> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="FirstName" /> <xs:element name="LastName" /> </xs:sequence> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> </xs:sequence> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> </xs:schema> Here is my test xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <Employee xmlns="http://www.example.org/testSchema"> <Name> <FirstName>John</FirstName> <LastName>Smith</LastName> </Name> </Employee> I am getting following error by Eclipse xml editor/validator: cvc-complex-type.2.4.a: Invalid content was found starting with element 'Name'. One of '{Name}' is expected. I could not understand what is wrong with this schema or my xml.

  • Set the title of a UIButton with a single method invocation?

    - by Greg Maletic
I'd like to set the title of a UIButton via code. I find myself having to call -[UIButton setTitle:forState:] for UIControlStateNormal, UIControlStateHighlighted, UIControlStateDisabled, UIControlStateSelected. And that doesn't even take into account all of the combinations of these states together. Needless to say, this is tiresome. Is there a single call I can make that will set one string as the title for all of the states? (Since, I assume that in 95% of the cases, that's the desired behavior?)

  • JQuery Autocomplete Where the Results are Links

    - by Spencer
I am trying to create a JQuery Autocomplete box where the words being suggested for autcomplete are links (similar to what happens on Facebook or Quora). Basically, I want the autocomplete results to drop down and I want people to be able to click on them and be navigated to a different page. Here is the code I am currently using <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <link href="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.8/themes/base/jquery-ui.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"/> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4/jquery.min.js"></script> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.8/jquery-ui.min.js"></script> <script> $(document).ready(function() { $("input#autocomplete").autocomplete({ source: ["Spencer Kline", "Test Test Test Test Test Test Test Test Test", "php", "coldfusion", "javascript", "asp", "ruby"] }); }); </script> </head> <body style="font-size:62.5%;"> <input id="autocomplete" /> </body> </html>

I am using Ruby on Rails 3 and I would like to set some global variable to use those everywhere in my application. In particular, the domain name. If, for example, my website URL is http://subname.domain.com I would like to set or retrieve the subname.domain.com value in order to use that in my application like this request_uri = "http://#{sub_domain_name}" Where and how I have to state\initialize the sub_domain_name variable or other variables at all?

  • ASP.NET RadioButtonList help. If I set a selectedItem, that item doesn't react to SelectedIndexChang

    - by Hcabnettek
Hi Guys, I have a RadioButtonList on my web form. I have tried two different means to set the selected item. I have tried in the markup, and in code, like the Page_Load event. It sets and displays correctly. My problem is that the selected radio button no longer responds to the SelectedIndexChanged event. The other items works as expected and if I remove the code that sets the selectedItem, then the radio button works as expected. Is there any way I can set a radio button through code, and it still behaves as I would expect. I am guessing, if u force a button to be selected, then it doesn't change. Does anyone know how to rememdey this so I can default select it, but still have it behave the way I want? <asp:RadioButtonList ID="rblPaymentType" runat="server" AutoPostBack="True" RepeatDirection="Horizontal" RepeatLayout="Flow"> <asp:ListItem Value="benefit" Text="Benefit" Selected="True"/> <asp:ListItem Value="expense" Text="Expense" /> </asp:RadioButtonList> This lives inside an ascx which I have an event for public delegate void SwitchBenefitTypeHandler(object sender, EventArgs e); public event SwitchBenefitTypeHandler SwitchedBenefit; protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { WireEvents(); } private void WireEvents() { rblPaymentType.SelectedIndexChanged += (sender, args) => SwitchedBenefit(sender, args); } Then on the aspx, I wire a handler function to that event. if (header is PaymentHeader) (header as PaymentHeader).SwitchedBenefit += (paymentForm as PaymentBaseControl).Update; Finally the handler function public override void Update(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (sender is RadioButtonList) { IsExpense = (sender as RadioButtonList).SelectedValue == "expense"; UpdateCalcFlag(); UpdateDropDownDataSources(); UpdatePaymentTypeDropDown(); ResetBenefitLabels(); FormatAmountTextBox(); } } I hope that's enough code. Everything works great when I don't set the SelectedItem in the RadioButtonList but I need it set. Here's a link to someone with the same problem. It is ASP.NET AJAX related. Click Here Thanks, ~ck in San Diego

Thanks in advance for any explaination. lupin

  • Enums, Constructor overloads with similar conversions.

    - by David Thornley
Why does VisualC++ (2008) get confused 'C2666: 2 overloads have similar conversions' when I specify an enum as the second parameter, but not when I define a bool type? Shouldn't type matching already rule out the second constructor because it is of a 'basic_string' type? #include <string> using namespace std; enum EMyEnum { mbOne, mbTwo }; class test { public: #if 1 // 0 = COMPILE_OK, 1 = COMPILE_FAIL test(basic_string<char> myString, EMyEnum myBool2) { } test(bool myBool, bool myBool2) { } #else test(basic_string<char> myString, bool myBool2) { } test(bool myBool, bool myBool2) { } #endif }; void testme() { test("test", mbOne); } I can work around this by specifying a reference 'ie. basic_string &myString' but not if it is 'const basic_string &myString'. Also calling explicitly via "test((basic_string)"test", mbOne);" also works. I suspect this has something to do with every expression/type being resolved to a bool via an inherent '!=0'. Curious for comments all the same :)

    I'd like to click a header link and have the block directly underneath hide or show (with slideToggle) Thanks <div class='header'><a href='#'>Header</a></div> <div class='block'> <div class='test>Some Text</div> <div class='test>Some Text</div> <div class='test>Some Text</div> </div> <div class='header'><a href='#'>Header</a></div> <div class='block'> <div class='test>Some Text</div> <div class='test>Some Text</div> <div class='test>Some Text</div> </div> <div class='header'><a href='#'>Header</a></div> <div class='block'> <div class='test>Some Text</div> <div class='test>Some Text</div> <div class='test>Some Text</div> </div>
