  • .Net opening and clossing database connections

    I currently designed the data access portion of our framework so that every time a business object needed to interact with the database it would have to open a connection, invoke the data access layer (to execute the query), and then close the connection. Then if it needed to run in a transaction it would open the connection, begin the transaction, invoke the data access layer (to execute the query) and then commit the transaction, close the transaction, and finally close the connection. I did it this way with the mindset of open late and close early...but what if I needed to call other BO's to submit data in a single transaction? Is there a better way to handle opening and closing connections as well as working with transactions? I'm a rookie at architecting applications so I hope I'm not doing this wrong...any help is appreciated.

  • nhibernate configure and buildsessionfactory time

    Hi, I'm using Nhibernate as the OR/M tool for an asp.net application and the startup performance is really frustrating. Part of the problem is definitely me in my lack of understanding but I've tried a fair bit (understanding is definitely improving) and am still getting nowhere. Currently ANTS profiler has that the Configure() takes 13-18 seconds and the BuildSessionFActory() as taking about 5 seconds. From what i've read, these times might actually be pretty good, but they were generally talking about hundreds upon hundreds of mapped entities...this project only has 10. I've combined all the mapping files into a single hbm mapping file and this did improve things but only down to the times mentioned above... I guess, are there any "Traps for young players" that are regularly missed...obvious "I did this/have you enabled that/exclude file x/mark file y as z" etc... I'll try the serialize the configuration thing to avoid the Configure() stage, but I feel that part shouldn't be that long for that amount of entities and so would essentially be hiding a current problem...   • Connecting to a Websphere MQ in Java with SSL/Keystore

    I'd like to connect to a Websphere 6.0 MQ via Java. I have already working code for a "normal" queue, but now I need to access a new queue which is SSL encrypted (keystore). I have been sent a file called something.jks, which I assume is a certificate I need to store somewhere. I have been searching the net, but I can't find the right information. This is the code I use for the "normal" queue. I assume I need to set some property, but not sure which one.   • Max TCP Connections to a machine

    I am creating a Windows Service in .NET to which N number of client can connect. The service starts a TCP listener and accepts the client connections. The problem I am facing is that I can only open 10 connections to this service. The listener::AcceptTcpClient() method accepts only 10 connection and throws an exception for 11th one. The client application uses the System.Net.Sockets.TcpClient class and the service is using System.Net.Sockets.TcpListener class. This is the exception that I am getting when I try to make a number of connections in a for loop to this service (after the 10th connection is made): "Unable to read data from Transport connection: An exsting connection was forcibly closed by remote host"

  • SignalR cross domain does not work after updating to 0.5.1

    My site uses SignalR to communicate cross-domain. It worked great but I updated SignalR from 0.5.0 to 0.5.1 and my site broke. Here's my script: function start() { $.connection.hub.url = "http://otherdomain.com/signalr"; $.connection.hub.start().done(function () { $.connection.myHub.join(); }); } When script calls join - I see in Firebug that it is a POST (I believe it shoold be GET (jsonp) since it is cross domain) with no response. EDIT: I tried $.connection.hub.start({jsonp: true}). Now I have can call server from client but calls from server don't execute on client. I noticed that there are following calls: negotiate and send whereas locally (the same domain) there are: negotiate, connect, send.

  • Memory leak found with clang but cant release and autorelease crashes

    I have a class that builds a request based on a few passed in variables. The class also has all the delegate methods to receive the data and stores it in a property for the calling class to retrieve. When the class initializes it creates a connection and then returns itself: NSURLConnection *connection; if (self = [super init]) { self.delegate = theDelegate; ...some code here... connection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:theRequest delegate:self startImmediately:YES]; } return self; So I can't release it normally and if I autorelease it crashes. Is it the job of the calling class to release? And if so does just releasing the initilised object also release connection or do you have to release it specifically? If so how would you? Thanks

  • Ubuntu Laptop Screen does not turn on after sleep

    I recently put Ubuntu 10.10 on my laptop and after fixing the wireless problem I am only stuck on my screen turning back on after sleep. I have had this problem since Ubuntu 7. I tried using Ubuntu way back then and had a whole bunch of issues with the sleep and the wireless(Broadcom 4311). Anyways, I have an ATI Radeon express 200M graphics card (old laptop). When I go to Hardware drivers it doesn't give me any options to use the closed source drivers. Any suggestions on what I should do? I am going to try what is suggested in this thread but I am at work right now. Laptop does not wake up after sleep Thanks in advance for any help.

    I've run into a problem trying to return an object that holds a collection of childobjects that again can hold a collection of grandchild objects. I get an error, 'connection forcibly closed by host'. Is there any way to make this work? I currently have a structure resembling this: pseudo code: Person: IEnumerable<Order> Order: IEnumberable<OrderLine> All three objects have the DataContract attribute and all public properties i want exposed (including the IEnumerable's) have the DataMember attribute. I have multiple OperationContract's on my service and all the methods returning a single object OR an IEnumerable of an object works perfectly. It's only when i try to nest IEnumerable that it turns bad. Also in my client service reference i picked the generic list as my collection type. I just want to emphasize, only one of my operations/methods fail with this error - the rest of them work perfectly.     Hello. I got a 500 Internal Sever error when I try to deploy my rails app on heroku. It works fine on my local machine, so i'm not sure what's wrong here. Seems to be something with the "sessions" on the home controller.     I've created a local Apache Derby database in Netbeans, but am having problems when I try and autogenerate the POJO files, using the "Hibernate Reverse Engineering Wizard". Caused by: ERROR XSDB6: Another instance of Derby may have already booted the database C:\CerealDatabase. I've closed any other connections to the database before trying this, and there is no "db.lck" lock file at the time, which indicates there are no connections to the database as I understand it. Does anyone have any ideas? Help gratefully received.
