• Auto-generate WebControls

  I want to generate .net code from a template so that it more rapid, so lazy developers (and I mean that in the nicest possible way!) don't have to write them in the IDE, compile them, etc... I know I can roll my own tool which generates the code using reflection (by reading in some text file, etc), but I just wondered if there was an easier than starting from scratch since this is what ASP.NET basically does already; so is there anyway to leverage this? E.g. to quote Peter A. Bromberg: Even an ASPX page with no code on it gets turned into an instance of the System.Web.UI.Page class. The page is parsed by the ASP.NET engine when it is first requested, and then its JIT compiled version is cached in the Temporary ASP.NET Files folder as long as the application is running and the .aspx page hasn't been changed. Ideally I want to auto-generate WebControls, but examples of anything closely related will do. C# Examples preferred also, but anything considered :)

The 'fix' is to add a using declaration in the derived class. My question is why. What is the rational for a weird language rule like this? I verified the error in both GCC and Comeau, so I assume this isn't a compiler bug but a feature of the language. • Top techniques to avoid 'data scraping' from a website database

  I am setting up a site using PHP and MySQL that is essentially just a web front-end to an existing database. Understandably my client is very keen to prevent anyone from being able to make a copy of the data in the database yet at the same time wants everything publicly available and even a "view all" link to display every record in the db. Whilst I have put everything in place to prevent attacks such as SQL injection attacks, there is nothing to prevent anyone from viewing all the records as html and running some sort of script to parse this data back into another database. Even if I was to remove the "view all" link, someone could still, in theory, use an automated process to go through each record one by one and compile these into a new database, essentially pinching all the information. Does anyone have any good tactics for preventing or even just dettering this that they could share. Thanks

  I am using the ObservableSortedDictionary from Dr. WPF. The constructor looks like this: public ObservableSortedDictionary(IComparer<DictionaryEntry> comparer) I am really struggling to create an implementation that satisfies the constructor and works. My current code (that won't compile) is: public class TimeCreatedComparer<T> : IComparer<T> { public int Compare(T x, T y) { var myclass1 = (IMyClass)((DictionaryEntry)x).Value; var myclass2 = (IMyClass)((DictionaryEntry)y).Value; return myclass1.TimeCreated.CompareTo(myclass2.TimeCreated); } } It says I can't cast from T to DictionaryEntry. If I cast directly to IMyClass, it compiles, but I get a runtime error saying I can't cast from DictionaryEntry to IMyClass. At runtime, x and y are instances of DictionaryEntry, which each have the correct IMyClass as their Value.

  Hello, I have a LINQ statement that returns an implicit type. I need to get this type to be an ObservableCollection in my Silverlight 3 application. The ObservableCollection constructor in Silverlight 3 only provides an empty constructor. Because of this, I cannot directly convert my results to an ObservableCollection. • Not able to override CSS within IFrame

  I am using disqus comments for my jekyll blog with some CSS styles overriden in my stylesheet and used to work perfectly. Recently, disqus has introduced a new UI for their comments system which has completely broken the font colors. Since my site has dark background, I am trying to apply styles based on new disqus HTML structure generated. However, it seems that none of my styles get applied. It seems that is because disqus is loaded within iframe. Any ideas how can I fix the font colors. • How to Install two library CGNS for Fortran under WIndows XP

  Hello, I have to install two libraries CGNS to use it in Fortan, but I don't understand how, the basic instructions are: To compile under MS Windows: configure.bat [options] then gmake if using GNU make, or nmake if using nmake. NOTE: This assumes that the cl compiler is in your path, and that the INCLUDE and LIB environment variables are set to include the directories containing the MSC include files and libraries. If not, you will need to use full path names to cl and link, and define INCLUDE and LIB in make.win32. You may also execute VCVARS32.BAT in the BIN directory of your VC installation to set these up prior to running nmake. so what i did was to: tape configure.bat it creates the rights files I set the news paths and lib, include for the cl.exe and link.exe but now the warning and error messages are about the clui.dll. cl -nologo -I. -Iadf -FoWIN32\cgns_error.obj -c cgns_error.c Cannot load language resource clui.dll what can i do now? • Program crashes in debugger before anything happens

  I'm building an application for Windows XP using the MinGW tool chain and it sometimes crashes unexpectedly. So, I'm trying to use a debugger (Gdb) but the program exits with code 03 before anything happens. In fact, all I see from GDB is: [New thread 3184.0x7b8][New thread 3184.0xef8] Program exited with code 03. My suspicion is that there is some failed dynamic linking of a dependency (which are Qt, VTK, and ITK, all built with MinGW). However, this does not happen when I just run the program normally. Or if it happens, it appears to be intermittent and well after the program is launched and running. NOTE: I'm also using Cmake for cross compiling. What should I do? What can I try?

• How are java.lang.Object's protected methods protected from subclasses?

  The keyword protected grants access to classes in the same package and subclasses (http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/java/javaOO/accesscontrol.html). Now, every class has java.lang.Object as superclass (http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/lang/Object.html). Hence I conclude that every class may access java.lang.Object's methods even if they are protected. Take a look at the following example: public class Testclass { public Object getOne() throws CloneNotSupportedException { return this.clone(); } public Object getTwo() throws CloneNotSupportedException { return ((Object) this).clone(); } } While getOne() compiles fine, getTwo() gives Testclass.java:6: clone() has protected access in java.lang.Object return ((Object) this).clone(); I neither understand why getTwo() doesn't compile nor what's the difference (regarding the access of java.lang.Objects members) with getOne().

  Hi all i am a junior level SQL developer. I have a situation where I have a text file with 1100 lines of a search result with each line containing a file path and a stored procedure associated with that file. Each line has a structure like the one below: abc\def\ghi\***.cs(40): jkl=******.*****.******, "proc_pqrst", parms); Where abc\def\ghi\***.cs is file path of the file ***.cs. The stored procedure names begin with proc_. I have to extract the ***.cs and the corresponding stored procedure name begining with proc_ and write them to a .xls file. Can some body help me in writing the parsing program to do this? Also can I get a detailed outline on where should I write the code for c# and where should I compile it? This could be a great help as I don't have any knowledge of C#. Thank you, BK.

  When you attempt to declare an unsigned variable in C#.NET with a value outside its value range it is flagged as a compiler error, but if you produce a negative value at runtime and assign it to that variable at runtime the value wraps. uint z = -1; // Will not compile uint a = 5; uint b = 6; uint c = a - b; // Will result in uint.MaxValue Is there a good reason why unsigned variables wrap in such a situation instead of throwing an exception?   I feel somewhat foolish asking such a simple question, but I can't seem to find an answer. I'm new to ASP.NET (C#), but I'm learning by building a simple set of web pages that display a report. I have a variable that represents a company name. I need to output this variable in multiple places on the web page. The only way I have found to output a variable this is with: company_name.Text = "Acme Windows"; then <asp:literal id="company_name" runat="server" /> My problem is that I want to use company_name in multiple places on the page. Do I really have to create a separate variable holding the the same value for each time it is placed on the page? If I just copy the above XML code to all the places I want to show the variable it obviously creates a compile error since that ID is already defined. I feel like I'm missing something very obvious.

• Matching .NET References to Namespaces

  This seems confusing to me - im creating a class library, and adding all the necessary references for the source files contained in it. Now, off the bat, there were over 300 compiler errors complaining about missing namespaces. The library will now compile after i just added all of the System.* references, however this is obviously not the best way. I.e. if a classes needs using System.Web.Script;, there is no System.Web.Script reference, how would i find out which one of these references contained it? System.Web didnt.

Considering a program with the following macro #define HYPE(x,y) (SQUR(x)+SQUR(y)) #define SQUR(x) (x*x) Using this we can successfully compile to get the result. As we all know the C preprocessor replaces all the occurrence of the identifiers with the replacement-string. Considering the above example I would like to know how many times the C preprocessor traverses the program to replace the macro with the replacement values. I assume it cannot be done in one go.

• Problem linking SDL_Image against libpng

  I'm trying to compile SDL_Image 1.2.10 with MinGW + MSys (gcc 4.5.0) on Windows, I have compiled all the requires libs (zlib 1.2.5, libpng 1.4.2, libjpeg 8a, libtiff 3.9.2). SDL_Image compiles fine, but fails to link to libpng, throwing .libs/IMG_png.o:IMG_png.c:(.text+0x16): undefined reference errors on various png structs. If I run ./configure --prefix=/mingw --disable-png for SDL_Image, it compiles and links against the other libs just fine. I have tried older versions of libpng (1.2.43), but they also caused SDL_Image to throw the same errors.

  Hi folks, For my trading program, a Merchant object has a qualities HashMap of enumerated Qualities with Boolean values. public class Merchants { private Map<Qualities, Boolean> qualities = new HashMap<Qualities, Boolean>(); I would like to give each Merchant object a further ratedQualities HashMap of True Qualities with Byte or Integer values representing the Rating of those Qualities. For example, a given Merchant could have a "1" Rating associated with their True Stockbroking Quality. The problem is Java does not let me do this easily. The following code demonstrates my intentions but doesn't compile: private Map<qualities-TRUE, Byte> ratedQualities = new HashMap<qualities-TRUE, Byte>(); According to this link text one solution is to create a Wrapper for the qualities HashMap. Is this the only solution or is there a better way? Thanks in advance for your help.

• Question about layout in java.

  I have two panels main_panel and child_panel. I have set layout for main_panel by using "main_panel.setLayout(flowlayout)" and added child_panel in main_panel by using "main_panel.add(child_panel)". This child_panel gets added to main_panel but its position is at the cross-section of horizontal midpoint and top vertical section of screen. But I want child_panel to be at the top left corner, something I could have done by using "child_panel.setlocation(a,b)" method, if I have set the Layout of main_panel as NULL. I have used flowlayout here because I want components in the JPanel to keep adjusting with the size of JFrame. So question is, can I add child_panel to main_panel at the exact location I want, even if I set the Layout of main_panel as not NULL.

• TFS Security and Documents Folder

  I'm getting an issue with TFS where the documents folder is marked with a red cross. As far as I can tell, this seems to be a security issue, however, I am set-up as project admin on the relevant projects. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s a security issue from running the TFS Project Admin tool (available here). When I run this, it tells me that I don’t have sufficient access rights to open the project. I’ve checked, and I’m not included in any groups that are denied access. Please can anyone shed any light as to why I may not have sufficient access to these projects?

  fontsquirrel.com allows you to upload a font and create a @font-face kit which you can apply to your website and use to display fonts which will display cross-browser (even in IE6!). But what I want to know is, is this legal? I've been supplied the font "Lubalin Graph Std" and told to use this for headers on the website I'm creating. I can upload the font file to fontsquirrel.com and use this to display headers in this font across the website - but I'm worried we'll get into trouble for doing this. What should I do?
