• Is my program taking too much time to execute?

  I wanted to solve a question from project euleur about finding the largest prime number of a big number. I run my code on a virtual machine on Visual studio 2012, and the code seems froze. When I step into the loop, the code works well, but when I execute it, the console is always there. It is as if the program is still running. Could it be that the program takes time to execute? • Why does UIActionSheet cancel crahes my App?

  I try to use the UIActionSheet within my iPhone App but have the following problem. When I tap the cancel button "I don't", the app crashes. When I remove the NSLog statement from the actionSheet:clickedButtonAtIndex: it does not. The "Yes, do it" button works just fine and I see the log statement in the console. • Update through Linq-to-SQL DataContext not working.

  I have created a small test for updating table using Linq-to-SQL DataContext as follows: using (pessimistic_exampleDataContext db = new pessimistic_exampleDataContext()) { var query = db.test1s.First(t => t.a == 3); if (query.b == "a") query.b = "b"; else query.b = "a"; db.SubmitChanges(); } But after executing this code in a console application in Main method, when I select records from the table, the record is not updated. I have debugged through the code, and it is not even throwing any exception. What can be the problem ?

• FFmpeg + iPhone - Interesting (incorrect?) video encoding results

  I'm encoding some video on the iPhone by running the png image data through swscale to get YUV420P data then encoding that frame using the MSMPEG4V1 codec. In the api docs, avcodec_encode_video should return the number of bytes used from the output buffer by that encode operation. There are 234,000 bytes going into the encoder, but the result returned by avcodec_encode_video is simply "4". The result is exactly the same over 24 frames. Something seems fishy here...any insight? Here's a pastebin link to the code: http://pastebin.com/ht94FWva (sorry for the link away from SO, I just didn't want to have the code duplicated in several places) EDIT: Also, I've set up a custom log callback for ffmpeg to use and I have the log level set to "Verbose" (libavutil/log.h), so libavcodec should be logging any goofs to the console, but avcodec is quiet throught he whole operation. (note: I did test to make sure my log callback was working)

  I'm trying to open an image file in python and add that data to an sqlite table.   In C#4.0, we have dynamic type, but how to invoke static method of dynamic type object?   When building the following factory: Factory.define :user do |f| f.sequence(:name) { |n| "foo#{n}" } f.resume_type_id { ResumeType.first.id } end ResumeType.first returns nil and I get an error. ResumeType records are loaded via fixtures. I checked using the console and the entries are there, the table is not empty. I've found a similar example in the factory_girl mailing list, and it's supposed to work. What am I missing? Do I have to somehow tell factory_girl to set up the fixtures before running the tests?

  Hi, I was just wondering whether in C is it possible to peek in the input buffer or perform similar trickery to know whether a call to fgets would block at a later time. Java allows to do something like that by calling BufferedReader.ready(), this way I can implement console input something like this: while (on && in.ready()) { line = in.readLine(); /* do something with line */ if (!in.ready()) Thread.sleep(100); } this allows an external thread to gracefully shutdown the input loop by setting on to false; I'd like to perform a similar implementation in C without resorting to non portable tricks, I already know I can make a "timed out fgets" under unix by resorting to signals or (better, even though requering to take care of buffering) reimplement it on top of recv/select, but I'd prefer something that would work on windows too.   I am trying to get an dynamically created element using a jQuery selector but it is returning an empty array. The first thing I am doing is grabbing an empty div: var packDiv = document.getElementById('templates'); packDiv.innerHTML = ""; then adding items to it in a loop: packDiv.innerHTML = packDiv.innerHTML + "<img id='" + thumbName + "' src='thumbs/" + thumbName + "'/>"; after the loop finishes I try to select an item using: console.log($("#"+thumbName)); and it returns the empty array. All the things I search on show to use .on but all the examples show that is to set event handlers. My question is how do I format a selector for dynamically created elements?

  Hi, I have a NSMutableArray that contains all the calendars on my system (as CalCalendar objects): NSMutableArray *calendars = [[CalCalendarStore defaultCalendarStore] calendars]; I want to remove from calendars any CalCalendar objects whose title does not include the string @"work". I've tried this: for (CalCalendar *cal in calendars) { // Look to see if this calendar's title contains "work". • Socket left in TIME_WAIT after file transfer via netcat

  Using Copying by NetCat I am trying to copy files throught network by NetCat. From console it work pretty well. First I run listening netcat on the destination machine and after I run sending on source machine. The problem is it's doen't work from script from the source machine: ssh -f user@$desthost 'nc -l 1234 | tar xvf - /dev/null &' #listening on destination host tar cv /tmp/file | nc $desthost 1234 #sending to destination host I saw that after running port 1234 is still was open and status of the socket was TIME_WAIT. If you know what's the problem, please, help me out. And by the way, after copying how can I validate that the content is identical? Thanks! Addendum: I found one very strange thing, the same implementation with screen on destination work works, but not stable, sometimes it doesn't copy a file. ssh user@$desthost screen -dm -S test 'nc -l 1234 | tar xvf - ' #listening on destination host Maybe there is an issue with timeout?

• jquery ajax call errors in chrome onenter with no responseText

  I've built a login page that uses a .ajax call to a generic c# handler (.ashx) to validate the username and password before allowing the user to log in. If you click on the login link <a href="#" class="ui-state-default ui-corner-all CustomButton" onclick="goLogin();return false"> the .ajax call returns successfully and it logs the user in. I am trying to make it so the user can also just press the "enter" key from the password box: $("#pword").keydown(function(e) { if (e.keyCode == 13) { goLogin(); } }); Using Firefox, both ways work just fine and the user is logged in. With Chrome however, pressing "enter" hits the error function of my .ajax call and will not log the user in. The parameters and responses look identical through Firefox's console, as expected. What would be causing this and/or how can I debug it in Chrome?

  I using the FileWatcher Class to locate changes on Files in a specific Folder. I managed to detect Changes on Files but not detailed Information.   I was surprised to learn that "ref" and "out" parameters are not marked by a special attribute, despite the existence of ParameterInfo.IsOut, ParameterInfo.IsIn (both of which are always false as far as I can see), ParameterAttributes.In and ParameterAttributes.Out. Instead, "ref" parameters are actually represented by a special kind of "Type" object and "out" parameters are just ref parameters with an additional attribute (what kind of attribute I don't yet know). Anyway, to make a by-ref argument you call Type.MakeByRefType(), but my question is, if you already have a by-ref type, how do you get back to the original Type?
