Android webview cookie problem

I have a video link in a web view, on the emulator, I hear the audio and no video is displayed. I think this is an emulator issue. I tried on my Nexus One, when I click the link, it opens a new webview and tries to access the server almost immediately reverts back to the webview and does not show the video. Logcat says: WARN/ResponseProcessCookies(486): Cookie rejected: "BasicClientCookie[version=0,name=GX,domain=mail.google.com,path=/proxy/gmail/mail,expiry=Tue Mar 22 19:55:33 EDT 2011]". Illegal domain attribute "mail.google.com". Domain of origin: "android.clients.google.com" How can I fix this?

HttpWebRequest timeout in Windows service

I am getting a timeout error while starting my Windows service. I am tring to download an XML file from a remote system which causes a timeout during the service OnStart. Dynamic data validation in ASP.NET MVC

I've recently read about the model validation capabilities of ASP.NET MVC which are all very cool until a certain point. What happens if the application doesn't know the data that it works with because it is all stored in DB and built together at runtime. Just like in Drupal, I'd like to be able to define custom types at runtime, and assign runtime validation rules as well. Obviously, the idea of assigning attributes to well established models is now gone. What else could be done ? I am thinking in terms of rules being stored as JSON objects in the DB fields or something like that.

Limit JavaScript and CSS files on ASP.NET MVC 2 Master Page based on Model and View content

I want to include certain .js and .css files only on pages that need them. For example, my EditorTemplate DateTime.ascx needs files anytimec.js and anytimec.css. That template is applied whenever I use either the EditorFor or EditorForModel helper methods in a view for a model with a DateTime type value. I've put this condition into the <head> section of my master page. A web framework where AJAX was not an after thought

AJAX is a pain in the ass because it essentially means you'll have to write two sets of similarish code: one for browsers with JavaScript enabled and those without. Not only this, but you have to connect JavaScript events to hook into your models and display the results. And if all that weren't bad enough, you need to send an address change with the request, otherwise the user won't be able to "click back" correctly (if confused look at what happens to the address bar when you click links in GMail). We're searching for something that had the foresight and design goals with all these concerns in mind. Performance and security are also obvious major concerns. We love config-based systems as well, where you don't have to write a lot of code you just drop it into an easily read config format. It's like asking for the holy grail right?

NHibernate WCF Bidirectional and Lazy loading

Hi everyone, I'm just looking for some direction when it comes to NHibernate and WCF. At the moment i have a many to one association between a person and address. The first problem. I have to eager load the list of addresses so it doesn't generate a lazy loaded proxy. Is there a way to disable lazy loading completely? I never want to see it generated. The second problem. 2-way anova on unbalanced dataset

Is aov appropriate for unbalanced datasets. According to help ...provides a wrapper to lm for fitting linear models to balanced or unbalanced experimental designs. But later on it says aov is designed for balanced designs, and the results can be hard to interpret without balance. How should I perform a 2-way anova on an unbalanced dataset in R? I would like to reproduce the different results for type I and type III sum of squares of SAS output (when using proc glm). I remember we were using type III sum of squares for unbalanced datasets. How do I best run a search on Date when it is not a :has_many association?

I have a number of activities that have a calculated scheduled date. The activities, for example, Email, have a email.days method which is the days from a Contact.start_date on which it should be sent. This means contact.start_date + email.days yields a date on which email is sent to contact. I would like to use link_to around the date, so I can see all the emails and associated contacts that are to be scheduled on that date. However, this "date" is not an attribute or an associate, so I'm not linking to a model's view. It's calculated. So: 1) What should the actual "format" of the date that gets passed in the URl be? What is the method to do the consistent conversion? 2) How do I (find) all instances, because this "date" is not an actual attribute, is it a calculated value which changes depending on the two associated models of Contact and Email. WCF high instance count: anyone knows negative sideffects?

Hi there! Did anyone experience or know of negative side effects from having a high service instance count like 60k? Aside from the memory consumption of course. I am planning to increase the threshold for the maximum allowed instance count in our production environments. I am basically sick of severe production incidents just because "something" forgot to close a proxy properly. I plan to go to something like 60k instances which will allow the service to survive using default session timeouts at a call rate average for our clients. Thanks, Alex

Aspect Oriented Programming Library/Framework for Actionscript 3?

I'm looking for a full featured AOP Library for Actionscript 3. The following projects I noticed so far, but they all seem to have their problems: - http://farmcode.org/page/Sodality.aspx (looks most promising so far, however it requires you to create a whole new class for every AOP "call" I believe, and it forces you to follow quite a lot of restrictions, anyone has experience with it? - http://code.google.com/p/loom-as3/ (this one is discontinued) - http://code.google.com/p/floxy/ (dynamic proxy generation? this isn't really AOP as I know it, right?) - http://code.google.com/p/flemit/ (dynamic byte code generation? this is something AOP needs I think, but not the full featured AOP framework I am looking for) Does anyone know of a better solution? Hi! I would like to ask you about what formal system could be more interesting to implement from scratch/reverse engineer. I've looked through some existing and rather open (open in the sense of free/open-source) projects of logical/declarative programming systems. I've decided to make up something similar in my free time, or at least to catch the general idea of implementation. It would be great if some of these systems would provide most of the expressive power and conciseness of modern academic investigations in logic and it's relation with computational models. What would you recommend to study at least at the conceptual level? For example, Lambda-Prolog is interesting particularly because it allows for higher order relations, but AFAIK (I might really be mistaken :)) is based on intuitionist logic and therefore lack the excluded-middle principle; that's generally a disatvantage for me.. I would also welcome any suggestions about modern logical programming systems which are less popular but more expressive/powerful. I guess, this question will need refactoring, but thank you in advance! :)

Ruby on Rails: attr_accessor for submodels

I'm working with some models where a lot of a given model's key attributes are actually stored in a submodel. Example: class WikiArticle has_many :revisions has_one :current_revision, :class_name => "Revision", :order => "created_at DESC" end class Revision has_one :wiki_article end The Revision class has a ton of database fields, and the WikiArticle has very few. However, I often have to access a Revision's fields from the context of a WikiArticle. The most important case of this is probably on creating an article. I've been doing that with lots of methods that look like this, one for each field: def description if @description @description elsif current_revision current_revision.description else "" end end def description=(string) @description = string end And then on my save, I save @description into a new revision. This whole thing reminds me a lot of attr_accessor, only it doesn't seem like I can get attr_accessor to do what I need. How can I define an attr_submodel_accessor such that I could just give field names and have it automatically create all those methods the way attr_accessor does?

Is it a good idea to "migrate business logic code into our domain model"?

I am reading Hibernate in Action and the author suggests to move business logic into our domain models (p. 306). For instance, in the example presented by the book, we have three entities named Item, Bid, and User and the author suggests to add a placeBid(User bidder, BigDecimal amount) method to the Item class. Considering that usually we have a distinct layer for business logic (e.g. Manager or Service classes in Spring) that among other things control transactions, etc. is this really a good advice? Isn't it better not to add business logic methods to our entities? Thanks in advance.

Unique keys for Sphinx along three vectors instead of two

I'm trying to implement thinking-sphinx across multiple 'sites' hosted under a single rails application. I'm working with the developer of thinking-sphinx to sort through the finer details and am making good progress, but I need help with a maths problem: Usually the formula for making a unique ID in a thinking-sphinx search index is to take the id, multiply it by the total number of models that are searchable, and add the number of the currently indexed model: id * total_models + current_model This works well, but now I also through an entity_id into the mix, so there are three vextors for making this ID unique. Could someone help me figure out the equation to gaurantee that the id's will never collide using these three variables: id, total_models, total_entities The entity ID is an integer. I thought of: id * (total_models + total_entities) + (current_model + current_entity) but that results in collisions. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

In functional programming language,this is easy , I don't know how java do this? Maybe could be done through dynamic proxy, does that have a performance trade off?

Use boost date_time to parse and create HTTP-dates

I'm writing a kind of HTTP proxy, so I need to be able to do 3 things: Parse an HTTP-date given any of the 3 formats specified in RFC 2616, sec 3.3, Convert a file date-time to an HTTP-date string, and Output the date to a string. For reference, theses are examples of the date-times I need to parse. I will output only the first format: Sun, 06 Nov 1994 08:49:37 GMT ; RFC 822, updated by RFC 1123 Sunday, 06-Nov-94 08:49:37 GMT ; RFC 850, obsoleted by RFC 1036 Sun Nov 6 08:49:37 1994 ; ANSI C's asctime() format I'm pretty sure Boost date_time can do all of this, but I'm having some trouble with number 1. Does anyone already have code to do this? Perhaps I'm not using google proficiently, but I can't find an example of how to do this with boost anywhere. Thanks for any help!

What is the best way to add categories to posts - Ruby on Rails blog...

I am new to Ruby and Rails so bear with me please. I have created a very simple blog application with both posts and comments. Everything works great. My next question regarding adding categories. I am wondering the best way to do this. As I can't see too far in front of me yet when it comes to Rails I thought I would ask. To be clear, I would like that a single post can have multiple categories and a category can have multiple posts. Is the best way to do this to create a 'categories' table and then use the posts and categories models to do has_many :posts, has_many :categories? Would I also then set the routes.rb such that posts are embedded under categories? Or is there an easier way by simply adding a category column to the existing posts table? (in which case I would imagine having multiple categories would be difficult).

Load balancer - how to write one for a custom application?

Hi! I've written a simple server application which will run distributed on several machines. My question is how does a network load balancer works, in general? I've heard of round-robin and other algorithms, but what I haven't got answer to is how does the process really goes? In socket terms. The client connects to one of the load balancer machines, asks for a "free-to-connect-to" server and simply connects to it? That's the simpliest way I can think of. .. or, does it use the load balancer as a proxy (that implies that all the NBs must be always connected to the application servers, and data is transferred through them)? It's more of a general question. How would you do this? Thank you all!

Importing Sqlite data into Google App Engine

I have a relatively extensive sqlite database that I'd like to import into my Google App Engine python app. I've created my models using the appengine API which are close, but not quite identical to the existing schema. I've written an import script to load the data from sqlite and create/save new appengine objects, but the appengine environment blocks me from accessing the sqlite library. This script is only to be run on my local app engine instance, and from there I hope to push the data to google. Am I approaching this problem the wrong way, or is there a way to import the sqlite library while running in the local instance's environment?

How to pre-check checkboxes in formtastic

I have a form I'm trying to set up ... Users can have many posts, and each post can have many people watching it. The Watch model is set up polymorphically as 'watchable' so it can apply to different types of models. It has a user_id, watchable_id, watchable_type and timestamps as attributes/fields. This is soley so that when people comment on a post, users watching the post can get an email about it. What I'm trying to do is show the user a list of users that they can tag on each post, which is not problem. This is what I'm using right now http://pastie.org/940421 The problem with this, is that when you go to edit an update/post ... all the checkboxes are prechecked ... I want it to pre-check only users who are currently watching the post.
