• Getting error ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 2048 at everything I'm doing in Eclipse

  Hi, whatever I'm doing in Eclipse, I get an error. At start up I get an error at Java tooling initializing. I get an error when I want to open a type. And it's always the same error. For example, when opening a type I get: An internal error occurred during: "Cache refresh". 2048 The error at the start up also prints the error code as 2048. I'm using the most up to date version of Eclipse. • Which type of DVI cable will connect the 9400GT with this display?

  I am going to buy BenQ G2220HD 22" LCD display I already have an EVGA GeForce 9400GT. Both support DVI. But the confusion came when I wanted to buy a DVI cable. I am confused with DVI and DVI-D and DVI-I and then Single link and Dual link! Can someone tell me whether this cable can be used to connect my 9400GT to my BenQ display? If not, what kind of DVI cable should I buy - DVI, DVI-D, single link, dual link, DVI-I?? Basically, geforce docs say it is a dual link dvi capable one. my benq display docs say it is dvi-d. what are my options now? what kind of dvi cable should I get? Please don't give me brands, because most of them won't be here in India. Just tell me the TYPE of DVI cable.

• Move "XP Mode" from Windows Virtual PC to VirtualBox?

  I installed "XP Mode" in Windows 7 (which uses Windows Virtual PC to host XP). I have now discovered that VirtualBox, which I have installed on the same Windows 7 machine, refuses to run at the same time as Windows Virtual PC (it gives me an error about not running multiple visualization programs). Is there any way I can convert the "XP Mode" image so that it will run inside VirtualBox instead of Windows Virtual PC? That way I will be able to run XP as well as other VM's at the same time.

• Repair GRUB bootloader for multiboot system

  I have two hard disks – one a 1TB and the other a 250 GB. I installed the OSes in the following order: Windows 7 on the first hard disk (1 TB) After that Kubuntu 12.04 on a partition (/dev/sdb7) on the second hard disk (250 GB) The second drive also contains an NTFS partition. Now, kubuntu's bootloader was installed on the second hard drive's MBR (and successfully detected Windows 7). So, whenever I wanted to load Windows I used to select the first hard disk from the BIOS boot menu and the second hard disk whenever I wanted to load kubuntu. I know I could have set the second hard disk as the default drive, still I prefered this method. The problem started when I installed Linux Mint 13 on the second hard disk (/dev/sdb3) and overwrote kubuntu's original MBR. Now, the GRUB just detects Mint and Windows. The MBR on the 1 TB hard disk is untouched. Is there a way I can modify the MBR on the second hard disk now so that it will show kubuntu and Mint both?

• I love google Chrome, but some non-static pages like Piwik render it unresponsive

  The web-stat software Piwik stops reacting on mouse clicks after 1-2 seconds. The same is true for Google Maps and Producteev (but GMail and most other pages work like a charm). These rely heavily on JS, and work without Flash. I can click for a very short time period and then the mouse cursor doesn't feel the UI anymore (it doesn't turn into a I over input fields, though it moves; if the freeze occured while the pointer was over an input field, the cursor keeps being a I) and all clicks on the DOM are being ignored by Chrome. No message appears, neither obvious nor in the Console (F12). There is no obstructing div or the like in the DOM (F12). Since I couldn't find any hints on the source of my problems, I suspected my plugins and extensions. Unfortunately, neither deactivating all plugins nor all extensions solved the problem. for the problematic pages, it always happens no Dropbox running several GB of free RAM the taskmanager doesn't show any high CPU or memory utilization (the offending tab uses 30 MB and uses 0-1 % CPU) all problematic pages work in other browsers (Chrome, Firefox, IE) the rest of the computer is very responsive the computers use different security suites (Kaspersky and Avira) The effect exists between several (synchronized) Chrome instances on different machines, all running Windows 7. Both the OS and Chrome are updated automatically. Other tabs and the Chrome chrome (tabs, menus, toolbar buttons of the browser itself) still work. I really don't like switching between browsers. Any ideas?

• Fedora12, XP and connection sharing via iptables

  Just a quick question ( I Hope ) To find out if what I'm trying is even possible. I am trying to share internet connection with Fedora12 as default gateway and XP machine hooked up via NIC using iptables commands as shown in Mark Sobell's book 'A Practical Guide To Fedora And Red Hat Enterprise Linux' These are the commands as placed in /etc/rc.local iptables -A FORWARD -i eth1 -o eth0 -m state --state ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT iptables -A FORWARD -i eth0 -o eth1 -j ACCEPT iptables -A FORWARD -j LOG iptables -t NAT -A POSTROUTING -o eth1 -j MASQUERADE I did flip the in and out parameters to match my NIC configuration ( as opposed to example from book ) but other than that followed example. One thing to note is that Sobell did not mention whether this should work with mix of Linux and XP. One other note ( maybe meaningless ) is that I do have samba working between the two machines.   I have been trouble shooting this for a few days and cannot fix this anyhow. Computer specifications Mobo: ASUS Sabertooth X58 LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 (Bloomfield) @ 2.67 ( no OC ) RAM: 6144MB RAM GPU: 2x NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 1Go in SLI (sli is not enabled anyway at the moment anyway) Drives: OCZ RevoDrive OCZSSDPX-1RVD0120 PCI-E x4 120GB PCI Express MLC Internal SSD [RAID-0]. (I know this could potentilly cause trouble but I had the BSOD before using this drive) Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST31500341AS 1.5TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - Bare Drive Click here for a log of a crash I just had. Some info Occurence: It seems pretty random so far, haven't noticed any kind of pattern I tried: Windows memory diagnostic (went smoothly at 1066mhz) As I said, it was still happening on my HDD, so when I bought the revodrive I install a new OS on there and still got the error, I believed it happened and I had no drivers installed at that point (not 100% sure) Change the following registry value to 1 (true): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager \MemoryManagement\ClearPageFileAtShutdown Tried to lower even more ram clock Made sure ram timing was set to recommended by manufacturer Verified if motherboard was in good physical condition (yes and its brand new) There is one thing to note, when I got the new motherboard, I installed the new drivers WITHOUT formatting and the I removed the motherboard drivers that I could remove from the control panel (pretty much the first things that have been installed). Could this cause an issue even ON THE OTHER drive (revodrive). Hopefully someone can help me, I am getting tired of this, spending so much money and cannot get this to work correctly. • Change from IDE to AHCI after installing Windows 8

  I had my drive controller configured for IDE when I installed Windows 7. This didn't change when I upgraded to Windows 8. I now need to enable AHCI, but doing so causes Windows to fail to start. It doesn't know how to automatically fix the problem. I was able to use Regedit from the recovery area, in order to try using this fix that worked for Vista. That key is missing in Windows 8, however. I read that the relevant key is now in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\storahci. But my settings already match the changes they suggest making. How can I get Windows to boot after enabling AHCI in the BIOS?

  There are times after I eject a USB Flash drive, I want to copy some more files over to the USB Flash drive. In this case, do I always need to unplug the drive and plug it back in? Is there a way to "reconnect" or "un-eject" the drive? To eject, that are two ways: 1) Right Click the drive (say H:) and choose Eject 2) Click "Safely remove hardware" from the icon tool But there seems to be no way to un-eject or reconnect a drive.

• Computer loses all installed programs and appears to return OS-only state

  This is a story regarding 3 laptops of different brand and models. On separate occassions, I configured each of these Windows 7 / Vista computers with the necessary configuration and applications (which are supposedly the same actually), e.g. join office domain, same windows updates, microft office etc. These machinese were configure in our office in Singapore, and then they were taken to India for use. Someday in India, when booting up the laptop, all went fine except when it reach the log in screen, it was no longer possible to login with domain credentials. Logging into the laptop local admin account will lead to discover that the machine has returned to "OS-only state". All the configurations and applications were gone. The actual user profiles are still in the C: drive so files can still be retrieved, but under Control Panel Uninstall Programs it is evident that at least the registry is corrupted. The above scenario happen to the first 2 laptops. For the third, the system reports "Operating System Not Found" on boot up. I cannot think of any reason except to suspect a power fluctuation issue. Question is, will a power issue create this behaviour? What else can cause this issue?

  All I want is be able to use flash and javascript while using Tor (I don't intend to use it for torrents) Normally, using flash with Tor is not recommended because firefox plugins run outside of the sandbox, so the browser's proxy settings don't apply to them, and can reveal your real IP. But I think it should be possible to also redirect flash to the same socket as the browser, and block the other outgoing ports just in case. Any ideas on how to do this?

An example would be: projectname.vcproj.domainname.username.user to projectname.vcproj.otherdomainname.username.user I've tried using the if loop to list the directory and set the delimiter to a period but it doesn't seem to be able to identify and change it. I'm using examples of renaming .txt files but it doesn't seem to work, any suggestions?

• cd doesn't change directory in Windows 7

  I am working with cmd.exe on Windows 7 (as opposed to Powershell). I have 2 partitions on my drive, C contains the OS and installed programs, and D contains my data. I was trying to cd from C to D, but cmd wouldn't let me: C:\>cd D:\ C:\> However, when I type dir D:\, it will list the contents of D correctly. Why does it do this and how can I fix it? Powershell works fine so I can use that, but I would like to know what makes cmd misbehave.

• Windows 7 x64 "upgrade" repair fails

  I've been running into issues with Windows Update, which I can't seem to fix. The hotfixes don't work, nor does the Windows update readyness tool, or the manual SP1 upgrade. I get various esoteric errors which nobody seems to have a fix for. Looks like some of the update cache is corrupt and digital signatures seem to be broken on some packages / Windows Update components. Long story short, I have discovered the only option is to do a repair operation on the OS, to repair everything. It's so corrupt that only a complete replacement will fix it. According to various sources (including MSKB) one can perform a repair by running an in-place upgrade. I've got the Windows 7 Ultimate retail disc, which I've inserted into my machine. I ran setup.exe and went through in the following order: Install now Go online to get latest updates (I've also tried not getting updates) Wait for updates to be downloaded Select Windows 7 Ultimate (x64 architecture) and click next Accept the T&Cs, click next Click Upgrade At this point it spends a minute on the "checking compatibility" screen, after which I get the following error: The following issues are preventing Windows from upgrading. Cancel the upgrade, complete each task, and then restart the upgrade to continue. You can’t upgrade 64-bit Windows to a 32-bit version of Windows. To upgrade, obtain a 64-bit version of the installation disc, or go online to see how to install Windows 7 and keep your files and settings. 32-bit Windows cannot be upgraded to a 64-bit version of Windows. To upgrade, obtain a 32-bit version of the Windows installation disc. It also mentions a warning about potential conflicts with a storage driver and VS2010, but that doesn't seem to be the blocking issue. My currently installed version of Windows is Ultimate 64-bit (absolutely sure of this) and the disc is definitely a x86 / x64 combined Ultimate retail disc. There seem to be a few people who have run into this (e.g. this question), but I've not seen any answers. I've checked the event viewer, but can't spot anything in there that's related. Any idea how I can get this working? P.S: Just to pre-empt the inevitable "are you suuuuuuuuuuuuure it's x64 Ultimate?" questions:

• Accessing localhost on my iPhone

  I've found similarly titled questions, but none that directly address my issue. I'm running Google App Engine server on my Macbook, and it was configured to use port 8080 on localhost. And so anytime I wanted to run my site, I'd just go to localhost:8080/saveuser and everything worked fine. Now, I want to access this same site on my iPhone. I can't just do localhost on my iPhone, so I set up Web Sharing on my mac, and it's set up to http://192.168.1.106/~mohabitar. I can access this from my iPhone, but it only displays a directory of my files, and doesn't actually run the Python script. The only way my Python scripts actually run is if I do localhost:8080 on my computer. What can I do about this?

  I'm getting an error message: "unsupported compression method 98" when unzipping a file somebody sent to me. I've tried both an older version of WinZip, and 7-Zip 4.65. I've already asked the person to avoid using a non-standard compression method and re-send the file. I know WinZip (of which they are using a newer version) has compatibility options. But, I'm wondering: What archiving utilities, other than WinZip, support this "compression method 98"? In particular, is there a free and/or open source tool that supports that method? If not, why not? Is the method strictly proprietary to WinZip?

• Does the Windows "Sources" folder need copied to C: like the "i386" folder did?

  On all flavors of Windows prior to Windows Vista, the Windows install CD contained a folder called i386. After installing Windows, this folder is suppose to be copied to the C: drive. Once the folder has been copied, if user is ever installing a program or windows updates that require the Windows install CD, it will retrieve the files from the hard drive INSTEAD of prompting for the Windows CD. On new versions of Windows, including Windows Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008 and Server 2008 R2, the i386 folder has been renamed to "sources". Should this folder be copied to the hard drive? Or do the new versions of Windows work differently (i.e. by installing all features on the hard drive to eliminate the need for ever prompting the user to insert their disc.) It does not hurt to copy the sources folder, so I have been doing it. But if I could eliminate time wasted it would make installations faster which helps my customers' bottom line.

  Hi I would like to know whether it is possible to remove the entry for desktop from Windows 7's alt-tab list? So far I have found a post telling me to add an entry to the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/AltTabSettings However, this reverts the alt-tab menu back to the Windows XP style, where you don't get window previews. All I really want is for the desktop entry to be gone. Cheers.
