• Flushing JDBC connection pools

  Does anyone know the best (or any) way to flush a JDBC connection pool? I can't find anything obvious in the documentation. It appears connection pools aren't meant to ever be deleted. My current thought is to delete all DataSources from the hash we store them in, which will trigger our code to make new ones. However, my first attempt throws a ConcurrentModificationException.

• What's the difference between using ProtocolType.IP and ProtocolType.Tcp

  I've just answered problem with sockets in c# where in my example code I initializing my socket using ProtocolType.IP as this is what I've always used in my own code, and it has never caused me problems. But I see many examples specifying ProtocolType.Tcp. I guess, what I'm asking is, by using ProtocolType.IP instead of ProtocolType.Tcp is anything being performed differently under the hood that I should be aware of?

• how to return some default value in oracle cursor when nothing is found

  I have following statement in one of the oracle SP: OPEN CUR_NUM FOR SELECT RTRIM(LTRIM(num)) as num FROM USER WHERE USER_ID = v_user_id; When the above does not return anything the SP result just has no column name in it. But I'd like the cursor to still have num column with some default value like NOTHING when no data is found. Is this doable ?

In C# I'd use the "lock" keyword: private someMethod() { lock(mySharedObj) { //...do something with mySharedObj } } In Delphi I couldn't find anything similar, I found just TThread.Synchronize(someMethod) method, which prevents potential conflicts by calling someMethod in main VCL thread, but it isn't exactly what I want to do.... • How to modify TaskDialog's Show() call to be blocking and return a value when closed?

  I'm using the WindowsAPICodePack's TaskDialog implementation, but it bugs me that I have to listen to click handlers on its buttons for even the more basic implementations. I'd like to convert/wrap it so that like the old MessageBox it blocks until closed and then returns a value based on what was done. Is there anything I can read for the basics on how to do this? I just have no idea where to even start, as I am admittedly not that familiar with the Win32 underpinnings.

  Is there an easy way to convert an int to an IP address in PostgreSQL? I was able to go from IP to int using this code: SELECT inet '1.2.3.4'-'0.0.0.0' This doesn't work: SELECT 16909060::inet I didn't see anything in the documentation. Does anyone know how to do this?

• Does the Dalvik file format (*.dx) support more instructions than a Java .class file?

As an example, if people would write their own Source-to-DX converter for their functional language XYZ, would they be able to implement e. g. full tail calls although the .class file does support tail calls only under certain circumstances?

  Basically my problem is this, I need to parse text where , is the delimiter but anything in " " quotes should not be checked for a delimiter. Is this what the Scanner.skip method is for? I would check it myself but I don't understand how to write a regex pattern in java where the token is something in between two " ". I also want to include any quoted text in the proper token which was delimited by the valid ,.

  I'm trying to write a Postgres trigger such that when a configuration table is updated, a backend component is notified and can handle the change. I know that Oracle has the concept of a web/HTTP trigger, where you can execute an HTTP GET from the Oracle instance itself to a URL that can then handle the request at the application layer. I'm wondering if Postgres (v. 9.0.5) has the same feature, or comes with anything similar (and, subsequently, how to set it up/configure it)?

• VS 2010 problem?

  For a short time now I have had a problem or pain with the Breakpoint indicators, they do not show, yes I have the margin activated ( small grey stripe down the left side of the margin ). I have uninstalled all extensions, addins etc still no breakpoint indicator I have also deleted the .suo file with no go also. This is a major pain more than anything else. Anyone who has had this problem please help me out.
