  • How do I update my primary key in MySQL?

    Ok, this is probably really simple, but I just can't figure it out. I have a primary key in a table that goes from 1-5,000. I need to manually update that id (for other table update purposes) so that it says 5,000-10,000. Can't I manually update this column? Please help!!! Thank you

    I have a two column list consisting of a US zipcode and a count (number of customers in this case). I want to put this data onto a map. Would Google maps API be a good fit for this? It seems like this would be a common enough type of problem to already have an existing (preferably Java based) solution without having to re-invent the wheel. Any suggestions?

    We have been using Cassandra 0.6 and now have Column Families with millions of keys. We are interested in using the new Secondary Index feature available in the 0.7 but couldn't find any documentation on how the new index is stored. Is there any disk-space limitation or is the index stored similar to keys in that it's spread over multiple nodes? I've tried combing through the Cassandra site for an answer but to no avail.

    Hi, I'm wondering if there's any way to merge two cursors together and then resort them. I can easily merge two cursors together by using a MergedCursor, but that doesn't sort them. I have two sets of contacts in two separate cursors (with totally different schemas) and I want to merge them and sort them by name (the name column is different in the two cursors).     Hello all, Is there an equivalent of MySQLs on update field for SQL server? With both DEFAULT CURRENT_TIMESTAMP and ON UPDATE CURRENT_TIMESTAMP clauses, the column has the current timestamp for its default value, and is automatically updated. What I am looking for is to have a date/time field and every time I update a record it updates the field with the date/time it was updated automatically?   • Help with simple query - why isn't an index being used?

    I have the following query: SELECT MAX([LastModifiedTime]) FROM Workflow There are approximately 400M rows in the Workflow table. There is an index on the LastModifiedTime column as follows: CREATE NONCLUSTERED INDEX [IX_Workflow_LastModifiedTime] ON [dbo].[Workflow] ( [LastModifiedTime] ASC )WITH (PAD_INDEX = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE = OFF, SORT_IN_TEMPDB = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, DROP_EXISTING = OFF, ONLINE = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS = ON, FILLFACTOR = 100) The above query takes 1.5 minutes to execute. Why wouldn't SQL Server use the above index and simply retrieve the last row in the index to get the maximum value? Thanks.
