• Need to use DART, can't access windows at all

  I have an install of windows server R2. After installing two patches, the system is stuck in a reboot loop. I wish to uninstall these patches to revert my stsem to normal. I have looked at dism, but it does not seem to provide a way to uninstall specific MSP patches. I don't believe I can utilize msiexec in WinRE to uninstall the patches. And so, I believe DART is what I need, which will allow me to uninstall specific patches. However, I cannot access my install of windows at all, which is what is apparently needed to make the dart media. Is there any way around this?

• Grub2 + Xen: How to solve "Can't find hypervisor information in sysfs"

  I am trying to solve the "Can't find hypervisor information in sysfs" problem when invoking "xm". I have found in some sites that the solution is to rename *10_linux* into *50_linux*, however if I do this, whenever I reboot my computer, the memtest starts (so I have to reset the previous grub configuration through a live cd). I am aware that it might be a silly question, but does anyone have a workaround?

• Security Alert For CVE-2010-4476 Released

  Hello, this is Eric Maurice again. Oracle just released a Security Alert with a fix for the vulnerability CVE-2010-4476, which affects Oracle Java SE and Oracle Java For Business. This vulnerability is present in Java running on servers as well as standalone Java desktop applications. Its successful exploitation by a malicious attacker can result in a complete denial of service for the affected servers. While only recently publicly disclosed, a number of Internet sites have since then reproduced details about this vulnerability, including exploit codes, which may result in allowing a malicious attacker to create a denial of service condition against the targeted system. Oracle therefore strongly recommends that affected organizations apply this fix as soon as possible. Please note that a fix for this vulnerability will also be included in the upcoming Java Critical Patch Update (Java SE and Java for Business Critical Patch Update - February 2011), which will be released on February 15th 2011. Note that the impact of this vulnerability on desktops is minimal: the affected applications or applets running in Internet browsers for example, might stop responding and may need to be restarted; however the desktop itself will not be compromised (i.e. no compromise at the desktop OS level). Oracle therefore recommends that consumers use the Java auto-update mechanism to get this fix. This will prompt them to install the latest version of the Java Runtime Environment 6 update 24 or higher (JRE), which includes the fix for this vulnerability. JRE 6 update 24 will also be distributed with the Java SE and Java for Business Critical Patch Update - February 2011.   I'm having a bad .htaccess day! I want a user to be able to type the URL mysite.com/about instead of mysite.com/about.html On .htaccess file I have: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ /$1.html [NC,L] But this simply does not work? I will add though that if i try this further inside the site e.g. mysite.com/pages/contact Works perfectly whether I have the above code in the .htaccess or not What am I doing wrong?

  In my setup there exist user1, ..., userN@example.com. Mail for example.com is handled by Exchange 2010 and all the users user Outlook 2010. There also exists a Standard Distribution list named office@example.com. Is it possible to have some of the users being able to send email with office@example.com as the sender address? Can the sender's GECOS be different too when this happens so that the recipient sees "Offices of Example.com" instead of "User Name X"? Sometimes the secretaries need to send stuff as "the office" and not as theirselves ...

• Installing GNU scientific library and linking to programme

  I am trying to install a statistical program which requires GNU Scientific Library (GSL). I have successfully installed GSL through the yum command, but my statistical program gives an error when I try to run make install. I think there is a linking problem. • Rosegarden plugin list is empty

  I've just installed rosegarden through apt. I've also installed jack and a low latency kernel through a PPA https://launchpad.net/~abogani/+archive/ppa. I've started jack-server and through the control panel I can see its wiring things through rosegarden. I've also tried installing qsynth and dssi both through apt. However I can't see any plug ins in the synth plug-in list. Therefore I'm unable to test if this works. I've tried launching qsynth before rosegarden and I've tried a few things however I just can't see any plugins. Does anyone know how to get this to work? • Unable to connect to a remote SQL Server Instance over a VPN

  I'm running SQL Server 2005 on two different servers running Win XP. The two servers are in different physical locations and are connected via a dedecated point to point data link in a virtual private network(VPN). Im only able to connect to the remote instance of SQL Server by specifying the IP address on the server name property. If I provide the actual server name say 'ServerA', then I get an error message. Everything works fine except configuring replication at the subscriber level, which requires the actual name of the instance, not an IP address or alias. I have already configured both instances on allow remote connections and im running the SQL Server Browser. How do I connect to the remote instance by providing the instance name? Alternatively how I configure subscription to a remote publisher without supplying the remote instance name?

After installing Ubuntu, it nicely presents a boot menu that lets me to boot either UBuntu or XP. Now, my XP sucks and I need to remove/re-install it. Then how can I restore the boot menu of Ubuntu? • Legal Web Fonts & Licensing

  So I'm a little confused in regards to legality of using fonts for web. Often from designers I get a PSD file and it uses a special font, and the font is supplied. However attempting to convert the font using: http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fontface/generator Ends up with a message saying it's blocked by Adobe. Not only that sometimes if the font can be converted, it often looks like crap when viewed in a browser. I assume that the generator is primarily for people to convert their own fonts, but if you purchase the use of a font then you can only use it for Web if the terms allows you to? The fonts used in PSD's are often Adobe Fonts, I can't find anything that suggests I can convert those and use them on the web. So I'm wondering if anyone knows the legal rights around using Photoshop supplied fonts on the web? In addition I'm wondering what resources are available (free/paid) that provide fonts that can be used on the web. • Empty tooltips in MATLAB

  I am running MATLAB R2013b. Under Unity, the built-in editor of MATLAB shows empty tooltips, as seen here: http://imgur.com/4VSq6i8 Under xfce the tooltips are showing up just fine. My system: Ubuntu 14.04, Intel i7 4770K. The question has already been posted somewhere else (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/21915939/matlab-code-analyzer-produces-empty-tooltips, http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/116987-empty-tooltips-in-code-analyzer ), but I think this is a Unity-specific problem. Any ideas?

• Alsa hardware volume with PulseAudio

  Before installing pulseaudio, I was able to control volume for the front (meaning on the front panel, the "headphone" jack) and rear (meaning on the back panel, the "line out" jack) separately. When I installed pulseaudio, it became possible to control volume for each playing process separately, but the individual controls for outputs disappeared. While the default device in alsa now routes via pulseaudio, the sysdefault device provides access to the hardware. But kmix does not seem to let me show them now. Is there any way to beat kmix into showing the sysdefault device too? Or something else X-based that would not fight with kmix too much? The system is Debian Jessie (testing) amd64, updated, KDE version 4:4.13.3-1.

• New way of integrating Openfeint in Cocos2d-x 0.12.0

  I am trying to implement OpenFeint for Android in my cocos2d-x project. My approach so far has been creating a button that calls a static java method in class Bridge using jnihelper functions (jnihelper only accepts statics). Bridge has one singleton attribute of type OFAndroid, that is the class dynamically calling the Openfeint Api methods, and every method in the bridge just forwards it to the OFAndroid object. What I am trying to do now is to initialize the openfeint libraries in the main java class that is the one calling the static C++ libraries. My problem right now is that the initializing function void com.openfeint.api.OpenFeint.initialize(Context ctx, OpenFeintSettings settings, OpenFeintDelegate delegate) is not accepting the context parameter that I am giving him, which is a "this" reference to the main class. Main class extends from Cocos2dxActivity but I don't have any other that extends from Application. Any suggestions on fixing it or how to improve the architecture? EDIT: I am trying a new solution. Make the bridge class into an Application child, is called from Main object, initializes OpenFeint when created and it can call the OpenFeint functions instead of needing an additional class. • What's the best way I can import/display lyrics for iTunes on a mac?

  I'm currently using iClip Lyrics, but apparently it's being discontinued. It can't import lyrics from certain lyrics sites (such as wikia) because they've used some javascript/iframe mix to make copy/pasting difficult. I was wondering if there were other options that are better at importing lyrics automatically as well as displaying lyrics. Bonus points for solutions that handle unicode encoded characters too, since a good portion of my music library is asian.

• Password Won't Work after Crash

  My Win 7 computer locked up, so I shut it down (holding down the power button till it shut off). Logging back on, I got an error message that it couldn't load my profile (like I'm entering the wrong password). I logged on the guest account, but can't change anything because it won't accept my password. Is this a serious problem or do I just need to reset the password with one of the options available on your site?

  I've created a kickstart script to install CentOS 5.5 (32bit) in a fully automated way. The DNS/DHCP setup correctly gives the system the right hostname in both the forward and reverse lookups. dig node4.mydomain.com. +short 10.10.10.64 dig -x 10.10.10.64 +short node4.mydomain.com. In the state the installed system is right after the installation completed is as follows: cat /etc/sysconfig/network NETWORKING=yes NETWORKING_IPV6=yes GATEWAY=10.10.10.1 HOSTNAME=node4.mydomain.com echo ${HOSTNAME} node4.mydomain.com cat /etc/hosts # Do not remove the following line, or various programs # that require network functionality will fail. 127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost ::1 localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6 10.10.10.64 node4 My problem is that this automatically generated hosts file is slightly different from the way I want it (or better: the way Hadoop wants it). The last line should look like this: 10.10.10.64 node4.mydomain.com node4 What do I modify where to fix this? Thanks.

• Skype Silent Mode

  So Skype has a silent mode: e.g. it won't alert you in any way about incoming calls/messages. I'd like to use that mode while working to keep Skype from distracting me. I'd rather not quit the program or signoff during that time. Is there a simple way to put Skype in that mode? There's an option for it in their SDK but not in the software. There are third party apps that do it (among other things), but there doesn't seem to be a simple solution for this. Help please!

• Original sender is not correctly identified when spam is forwarded

  I have a forwarding rule with Postfix that forwards all messages to my main email address. When a spam message is sent to one of my emails, it is forwarded but the sender is shown as being the forwarding domain, not the spammer's domain. Real example: mywebsite.com is hosted on Linode. [email protected] sends an email to info@mywebsite.com the mail is forwarded to myemail@anotherwebsite.com my email hosting (anotherwebsite.com) sees it's spam and sends a message to abuse@linode.com and Linode reports a TOS violation. I have modified my postfix settings so I now use RBL, but if a message goes through, it may happen again. How can I prevent this to happen again? Is there some settings to change on Postfix so the original sender is correctly identified? Thanks Stephan
