• Can't access newly created Subversion repos

  Sorry in advance, I'm pretty new in server configuration. So I followed this tutorial to install Subversion on my CentOS server. I'm at the part I should test the URL to make sure I can access it and that it's password protected, but it's not working, I can't access it. What is wrong? Is there some config missing? I don't know what more details to give, but if you need some, please ask! :) Thanks in advance.

I know a cookie can be shared across multiple subdomains using the setting <forms name=".ASPXAUTH" loginUrl="Login/" protection="Validation" timeout="120" path="/" domain=".mydomain.com"/> in Web.config. But how to replicate same thing on local machine. I am using windows 7 and IIS 7 on my laptop. So I have sites localhost.users/ for my actual site users.mysite.com localhost.host/ for host.mysite.com and similar.

• Change default text editor for crontab to vim

  I'm using ubuntu 9.10 and the default text editor is nano, which i hate. (doesn't everyone?) Normally it's not a problem as i just vi or gedit everything but crontab -e is opening with nano. I tried changing it to vim using sudo update-alternatives --config editor and selecting option 3 ("/usr/bin/vim.basic"). This has changed it for sudo and non-sudo alike. But crontab -e still opens nano. Any ideas? max

• Opera12 browser support for WebGL

  I have enabled - enable webGL by entering Enable WebGL in opera:config by setting the value to 1, and Enable Hardware Acceleration similarly, then restart the browser - Opera 12 on Windows & tried to open - http://aleksandarrodic.com/p/jellyfish/. This gives me an alert saying - Your browser failed to initialize WebGL. Please guide me on - What's going wrong? opera:gpu says : Hardware acceleration Disabled Direct3D 10 Backend not supported Could not load library OpenGL Backend not supported Could not load library But,same thing (http://aleksandarrodic.com/p/jellyfish/) works fine on Chrome! • 503 error Varnish cache when eAccelerator is started

  I have a Magento installation running on x-large Amazon server. I have Varnish, memcached and eAccelerator installed on the server. At first everything was working fine, but then at some point it stopped working, throwing 503 error with Varnish cache stamp below it. When I disable eaccelerator, error is gone and site is working. • Unreasonably slow stunnel

  I setup stunnel on OSX to tunnel traffic to my Django dev server because Facebook needs HTTPS these days but I noticed it's being absurdly slow. It seems like it can only handle a single connection at a time and even the connection is slow when I'm connecting to localhost. I've tried using some performance tips found online and so my config is setup as: pid= # foreground=yes cert=./cacert.pem key=./privkey.pem libwrap=no debug=0 socket = l:TCP_NODELAY=1 socket = r:TCP_NODELAY=1 [https] accept=8443 connect=8000 Is there a way to get more performance or more suitable way of setting up HTTPS for my dev server?

• change browser to open weblinks in thunderbird

  Hello, because it's almost obvious that either Thunderbird or Firefox freeze my whole system after some time, I'd like to not use FF at the moment and let Thunderbird run only for a short time as long as I check e-mails. Thunderbird web links should be opened with opera from now. For that I went in Thunderbird to Preferences-Advanced-General-Config Editor and set the following: network.protocol-handler.app.http -> /usr/bin/opera network.protocol-handler.app.https -> /usr/bin/opera network.protocol-handler.warn-external.ftp -> true network.protocol-handler.warn-external.http -> true network.protocol-handler.warn-external.https -> true Moreover I changed in Gnome in System-Preferences-Prefered Applications Opera as webbrowser and I checked in FF that it should warn if FF is not the default browser (obviously it isn't anymore). Unfortunately all of these settings doesn't work. Thunderbird still opens web links with FF. Any explantions why? (I already restarted Thunderbird although I don't have to, but no effect)

• I don't see the running guest in virsh

  Using CentOS 5 with KVM. I have downloaded this KVM applicance, and when unzipped it is just a .img file. No xml file supplied. I can start the guest with /usr/libexec/qemu-kvm -hda /data/kvm/slash.img -m 512 and it works. Now I would like to make a config file for the guest. The problem is when I do # virsh -c qemu:///system list Id Name State ---------------------------------- # I don't see the guest as expected. Does anyone know what is wrong?

• Distributing application updates using SCCM 2007

  Hi all, If there are any System Center Config Manager (SCCM) users out there, please clarify my doubt here. I have used the ConfigMgr console to distribute a custom application to a client machine. Now I need to distribute some updated files of that application. Isnt's it possible to add those files in the same package source used earlier and advertise again? Or should I use the SCCM software update section for this? Not sure if its only me, but the Software distribution process looks much easier than the Software Updates process in SCCM 2007. Please do let me know if there any online tutorials which explain how to update a custom application. Any help much appreciated.

• is my xml cached by IIS7?

  Hi guys, I have a flashplayer on my website. Behind it, there is an xml file which keeps the configuration of the products shown on that flashplayer. I do not understand why, if i modify something in the xml config file, the flash player is not updated at that moment, but after hours... Do you know why? I have not defined any rule for output caching in IIS7 so there is probably something default? Of course, i've tried Ctrl+f5 but does not work. Thanks.

  My goal is to copy INI.file each time Windows XP is started up or rebooted. The following VB script copies INI.file from a local directory to C:\INI_DIR. I tried to copy the VB script to C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Start Menu\Programs\Startup, but it doesn't get activated. Is it not the right path? How can I make it execute on startup/reboot?   How I enable directory browsing in IIS7? MS technet says this can be done in the IIS console: Open IIS Manager and navigate to the level you want to manage. In Features View, double-click Directory Browsing. In the Actions pane, click Enable if the Directory Browsing feature is disabled and you want to enable it. Or, click Disable if the Directory Browsing feature is enabled and you want to disable it. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731109%28WS.10%29.aspx However, my IIS console doesn't have the Directory Browsing option mentioned in Step 2. How can this option be made available. Note, this is for a static HTML site, so I don't have any web.config or ASPX files.

• How can Nagios handle non-threshold based plugins?

  I am writing a Nagios plugin to monitor trends of a certain storage resource utilization (e.g. gradual increases are fine, but an instantaneous/sudden increase or decrease in resource usage may indicate a problem). For what it's worth, it is reviewing the last N entries in an RRD file generated by a custom cacti data source/templates. What is the "right" way to handle Nagios notification config/implementation for this? The problem is that it the plugin would exit as warning/critical for one polling period, but in the next it would be fine (or 3 polling periods later, if I look at 3 polling periods worth of data). I guess the question is: should I just write it in such a way that it will alert for X polling periods, or should I find a way to write it such that manual intervention is required for it to clear (such as logging into the monitoring server or hitting a URL to run a script that submits a passive result)? Your input is appreciated, and if you have any tips for how to implement the latter I'm open to them (I can think of a few ways to possibly implement it)

• OS X Login Authentication Against Leopard Server

  I am doing a few tests with OS X Server before I have to do a deploy in a few months. I have configured Open Directory, and created a few users. I've configured Directory Utility on a 10.5 client, but the login authentication doesn't work the way I would expect. I would expect I could user a username/password from any user created in Open Directory and be able to log into the client. Instead, it appears I need to create a local user, which you then sync with a directory user using Directory Utility. Alternatively, if I add an Active Directory config to the client, I can use any AD user, as I would expect. Am I hoping for the impossible, or is something likely wrong with the configuration?

  Hey all, I have a dual server configuration on a host provider using VPS. I was told by my Host provider that in order to use free bandwidth between my two servers (they are in the same location) I need to add a alias "subnet" to a specific ip (A private network, VPN). How do I add an aliased ip in widnwos? in Linux the relevant command is supposed to be (By my search in blogs) "ifconfig eth0:1 10.129.175.165 netmask 255.255.255.0" They also said that another way to connect between the servers (should also be faster) is to use "private lan", but as it happens I don't know how to define one :(. Is there a windows equivalent or another way to do this? I have checked my ip config and found no indication of the private lan or the VPN ip.

  What is the easiest way to setup an PXE server (i.e. a DHCP server + TFTP server) on MacOSX? Is there maybe some easy-to-use tool which just comes with both servers builtin? I have done that in the past but I remember that it took me several hours of editing some config files of tftpd (I think) and different versions of dhcpd, many trials and errors until I got it working (mostly). Now I have a fresh MacOSX installation and I want to avoid any complicated setup.

• Is it possible to make Ctrl+C as responsive as Ctrl+Break in the Windows 7 console?

  Is it possible to make Ctrl+C act like Ctrl+Break in the Windows 7 cmd.exe console? By default Ctrl+C seems to only send a signal the next time the input buffer is read, where Ctrl+Break sends a signal immediately. This makes Ctrl+C useless for ending processes because when I want to end a process I want to end it immediately. I'm using Ctrl+Break for now but it's far harder to type. It looks like in DOS you can add BREAK=ON to CONFIG.SYS to achieve this, but not in Windows 7?

• Wordpress network admin pointing to root as opposed to subdirectory

  I've installed Wordpress on my nginx server in /blogs and new networks will be in /blogs/blogname. All my main site links point to example.com/blogs, but when I go to network admin the links point to http://www.example.com/wp-admin/network/ instead of http://www.example.com/blogs/wp-admin/network/ Here's the multisite section in my config: define('MULTISITE', true); define('SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL', false); $base = '/blogs'; define('DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE', 'www.example.com'); define('PATH_CURRENT_SITE', '/'); define('SITE_ID_CURRENT_SITE', 1); define('BLOG_ID_CURRENT_SITE', 1); If I try changing PATH_CURRENT_SITE to /blogs, I get a db connection error.   I would like to achieve rotation of nginx logs that: would work without any extra software (i.e. - best if without "logrotate") would create rotated files with names based on date Best approach is something like PostgreSQL has - i.e. in it's log_filename config variable I can specify strftime-style %Y-%m-%d, and it will automatically change log on date (or time) change. Another approach from apache - sending logs via pipe to rotatelogs program. As far as I was able to search - no such approach exists. All I can do, is to use logrotate with dateext option, but it has it's own set of drawbacks, and I'd rather use something that works like |rotatelogs or log_filename in PostgreSQL.

• Can Autodesk Flame run with an nVidia Quadro FX3800 SDI and output to preview through SDI???

  I am running on Linux RHEL 4.3, DKU 5.0.1. Everything seems to be ok on the xorg.conf and init.cfg, but when I start my projects and Flame enables output to preview I start having preview on my SDI monitor and stop seeing on my main monitor (which is connected to the DisplayPort). Could it be posible that Flame needs Quadro FX4x00/5x00 series with dual DVI to output both monitors?? Cause the FX3800 has only one DVi (which is connected to the SDI card) and 2 DisplayPorts as additional output monitors. Anyone knows a config or workaround this problem?? Thanks ahead!!!

  I am looking at going with a TWO Drive Only SSD RAID-0 Configuration And was wondering if I would get better performance / Speed from the Use of a RAID Controller / Card Verses just using the Software RAID on my Mother Board. I have herd conflicting reports , Again I only Plan on Running " 2 " SSD Drives in RAID-0 Config I have No- problem spending the extra money for a good controller but only if I am going to benifit performance wise , Otherwise if there is no notable Gain I will just use the Software RAID that my HP-180-T came with Intel- 3.33 GHZ , 6-Core , 12-GB of DDR-3. I have a huge External drive for All Storage and am not concerned about Data loss just looking for pure speed. And if a Controller will benifit my performance Wht type of card would one suggest?

  I've a problem with my network. My Config: SVR01 (ws2008r2): DNS server and Domain Server SVR02 (ws2008r2): IIS (v7.5) Domain Clients In SVR02 there are many sites. When I try to connect on one site (such as: demo1.myhomesite.intra) the browser say "Internet Explor can not display the webpage". Well... In this case I found a workaround: unplug and plug the lan cable (or disable and enable wifi) in my client and the site work correctly. But this workaround is not a solution. Please, can you help me??

  Here is an example httpd config I'm currently using: <VirtualHost 123.123.123.123:80> ServerName mysite.com ServerAlias www.mysite.com DocumentRoot /home/folder </VirtualHost> I'm wondering, is it possible to have a wildcard for the ServerName & ServerAlias variable? Reason for asking is I have some software that is shared among multiple URL's all controlled in a CMS and it's kind of a pain to add new domains via ssh everytimee. And before someone points out a security hole, the software does check the current URL before doing any webpages :)

I'm still weighing between the two for a ruby web app(not ROR) served with thin server. Specific answer will be much appreciated. General answer not touching the ruby part is okay. • Load images in parallel - supported by browser or a feature to implement?

  Hi all: I am not a pro in web development and Apache server still remains a mystery to me. we've got a project which runs on LAMP, pretty much like all the commercial hosting plans. I am confused about one problem : does modern browsers support image loading in parallel? or this requires some special feature/config set up from server side? Can this be done with PHP coding or by some server-side configuration? Is a special content delivery networking needed for this? The benchmark demonstration will be the flickr website. I am too suprised to see how all image thumbnails are loaded in a short time after a search as if there were only one image to load. Sorry I cannot present any code to you... completed lost in this:(
