  • Rails gems and plugins usage in Netbeans

    Hi, I am working with rails 2.3 with netbeans 6.5.1 on vista. I want to install more plugins from Git in netbeans like shoulda, cucumber etc. I have these questions: 1) I do not have much knowledge of Git. Is it necessary to install Git to make use of the Git plugins in netbeans? Are gems and plugins dependant on each other? 2) In case Git is needed and I do install msysgit , for example I can use the command ruby script/plugin install http://github.com/thoughtbot/shoulda.git/ to install shoulda plugin. How to make netbeans use this plugin or how to include this plugin in netbeans? 3) Is RubyMine a better IDE for Rails than Netbeans in terms of more gems and plugins availability? Thanks

It works, but I am not sure if this is the best way, and I could not googled up useful tutorials on this.   • How to save errors with the handleError in CakePHP 2.0?

    I have a big problem. Well, I'm trying to save the errors that happen in my web application. For example (only a example), if I make a division by zero, or happens an error in a query or something like that. So, I wanna catch that and save it in the database. But the handleError of CakePHP is static, so I can't use $this-MyModel-saveError(...). In my /app/Lib/AppError.php I have this: class AppError extends ErrorHandler { public $uses = array('Errors.Error'); public static function handleError($code, $description, $file = null, $line = null, $context = null) { //This print the error: echo "Code: ".$code."   • Why are some classes created on the fly and others aren't in CakePHP 1.2.7?

    I have the following model classes: class User extends AppModel { var $name= 'User'; var $belongsTo=array('SellerType' => array('className' => 'SellerType'), 'State' => array('className' => 'State'), 'Country' => array('className' => 'Country'), 'AdvertMethod' => array('className' => 'AdvertMethod'), 'UserType' => array('className' => 'UserType')); var $hasMany = array('UserQuery' => array('className' => 'UserQuery'));} And: class UserQuery extends AppModel { var $name = 'UserQuery'; var $belongsTo = array('User', 'ResidenceType', 'HomeType');} Everything works fine with the user class and all its associations, but the UserQuery class is being completely ignored by the orm (table name user_queries and the generated queries do cast it as UserQuery. Another weird thing is that if I delete the code inside the User class I get an error, but if I do the same for the UserQuery class I get no errors. So my question is why does cakephp generate a class on the fly for the UserQuery and ignores my class, and why doesn't it generate a class on the fly for the User as well ?

    We're using nagios *check_ntp_time* for monitoring time on our servers. Unfortunately the service is flapping. And reporting a lot of false-positives. It happens everytime for random server in random day time and lasts for ~10-30 minutes.     I had a real difficulty installing vim plugins on mac. I know for a plugin to be installed it has to be seen by runtimepath. According to vim docs, this is Macintosh: "$VIM:vimfiles, $VIMRUNTIME, $VIM:vimfiles:after" First off, what does $VIM:vimfiles mean?? It is certainly not $VIM/vimfiles, as (~/.vim/vimfiles) does not work. So my options are 1) put my plugin in /usr/share/vim/vim73 (my $VIMRUNTIME, which i know to be BAD) 2) find a way to make vim look at my home directory when including plugins. I have putting my plugin in: ~/.vim/plugin.vim ~/.vim/vimfiles/plugin.vim ~/.vim/plugin/plugin.vim All to no avail. Can somebody help me out here? Thanks!

Or how do I use automake's configure to compile a 32bit lib on a 64 bit system. All I Need now is the libavcodec-dev for 32bit, but I don't understand. What is the 32bit libavcodec-dev package for amd64 debian?

  • Wordpress Automatic Updating/Installing Plugins Permissions

    I am using the latest Wordpress and I have always had issues with the automatic updater. For the files in the wordpress directory, i set them to permission 770, and add the webserver user 'www-data' as the group owner. I use lighttpd. However, the automatic updating plugins or installing plugins does not work. It works if I chmod 777 the files or if I set the actual owner to the web server as well. What are the best permission settings for security while still allowing the updating feature to work properly in wordress? Also, by 'not work' i mean, it will go to the screen that asks me for FTP credentials when I try to update.

  • FreeNAS plugins not able to access storage

    I've just setup a FreeNAS box and have a couple plugins (sick beard and SABnzbd) installed. Both of these have you select a directory where downloads should go. My storage is on /mnt/MediaVolume/ however when I navigate to mnt it's an empty directory. When I SSH to the box though, I can see it just fine. I'm thinking it may have something to do with permissions, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions how to allow these plugins to view/have access? Thank you!

  • Does CakePHP treat all INT fields as ID's for join tables?

    I am trying to save a User, their Profile, and some tags and my join table that links the profile and the tags keeps getting messed up. The profile model is called Instructor, the tag model is called Subject. The Instructor has a phone number and a zip code and for some reason CakePHP thinks these are the fields it should use when creating entries in my join table. But Firefox doesn't feel it. It looks exacly like when I hadn't installed LightSpark. In "Firefox - Addons - Plugins" there is no new entry.     I have firefox installed system-wide for all our users. Unfortunately the Adobe Reader Plug-in is rather flakey and doesn't work some of the time. As a result I want to disable the plug-in by default for all our users, but still allow them to enable it if they want via the standard Tools-Add-ons-Plug-ins menu option. How can I have this plug-ins enabled/disabled status be disabled by default? I've been able to configure system-wide configurations before by setting preferences in the mozilla root folder file defaults/pref/all.js, but enabled/disabled plugins doesn't appear to be configured in the preferences. [edit 1]: I found 'How to manage firefox plugins in pluginreg.dat file' which explained some of the formatting of the pluginreg.dat file.     I am baking a new project management application at work and added a couple new tables to the database today. When I went into the console to bake the new models, they were not in the list... php /path/cake/console/cake.php bake all -app /path/app/ So I manually typed in the model name and I got a missing database table for model error. I checked and double-checked and the database table was named properly. Turns out that some files inside the /app/tmp/cache/ folder were causing Cake not to recognize that I had added new tables to my database. Once I deleted the cache files cake instantly recognized my new database tables and I was baking away! rm -Rf /path/app/tmp/cache/cake*
