  • How do I install an equalizer in Rhythmbox?

    Previous I have never used rhythmbox by default because it seemed to be lacking in features to me. Just my personal opinion. With rhythmbox back in 12.04 will ubuntu give it some attention to give it some usability one thing that was majorly missing on my last use of rhythmbox was an equalizer which is the most basic of requirements for an audio player let alone a preamp. I have searched and found that on the rhythmbox website the plugin is available but in the plugins menu of rhythmbox it is not there. I searched google and there are many guides from 2009 trying to install the equalizer. there is nothing recent and one would assume this would be a default plugin, there is no point after all searching for cover art if your music doesn't sound right. How can I easily install the equalizer in 12.04?

  • Flash is not working in Chrome

    I have google Chrome 8.0.552.237 on Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit and flash is not working, I have tried a variety of methods to install flash, including Firefox flash-aid and the flash-installer package and nothing is working for me. I have even uninstalled and reinstalled chrome to no avail. I get "missing plugin" message where flash plugin should be in a website. What am I missing? UPDATE I have a variety of plugins returned by jgbelacqua's command: /usr/lib/chromium-browser/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so /usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/iceape/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so /usr/lib/iceweasel/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so /usr/lib/midbrowser/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so /usr/lib/xulrunner/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so /usr/lib/xulrunner-addons/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so /usr/share/ubufox/plugins/libflashplayer.so /var/cache/flashplugin-installer/libflashplayer.so I'm not sure which is necessary and which not.     I'm using munin to monitor my server. I've been able to write plugins for it, but only if the graph type is GAUGE. When I try COUNTER or DERIVE, no data is logged or graphed.   • Flash animations doesn't work

    I have a following problem: I have Ubuntu 12.04 installed on my Athlon 1800+ + 1 GB RAM + Nvidia Geforce4 MMX 440 (pretty old configuration) and everything works just fine except Flash Player in my Web browser (tried Firefox and Chromium). Instead of movie/animation, I get blank space. I updated my system via update manager, checked the plugins (everything OK), installed and updated flash player one more time, installed Ubuntu restricted extras, tried Firefox's Flash Aid, even tried Youtube Html 5 (still the same result)... Please, help me! I enjoy working with Linux and Ubuntu is the first that works for me well (after Open Suse and Fedora) but I have no idea what is wrong now...

  • Completely uninstall/reinstall Eclipse and add support for php and jquery

    I have been using Eclipse a short while and it worked perfectly until I started downloading different plugins that I didn't really need. Now I get a ton of different errors and can't even open a php file. What I want to do is just to remove Eclipse and reinstall it, but that was much harder that I first thought. I marked every eclipse package in synaptic packaged manager and selected complete removal, I even deleted the .meta folder in my working dictionary, but when I installed eclipse again. It was as if I hadn't removed anything. Same errors from the plug-ins I had installed before. Seems like when you install something in linux, files are stored all over the place. Makes real hard do remove anything. So how do I COMPLETELY remove Eclipse, reinstall it and add support for php and jquery. Thanks.

  • Rhythmbox plugin radio-browser crashes

    I have just installed the plugins package from fossfreedom repository on my Rhythmbox 2.96 running on 12.04 (64 bit). The radio-browser plugin crashes Rhythmbox after a few seconds of playing. When I restarted Rhythmbox after the crash, the plugin was marked as "error" and it is impossible to reinstall it. I've then manually removed (sudo apt-get remove ...) and reinstalled it but still I can't enable it. Unfortunately, radio-browser was the reason for me to install the plugin package, and I can't use it... Help please?

  • Disable plugin in Firefox (acroread)

    I installed acroread from the repositories, and it has decided it should be the default plugin in Firefox, such that when I click on a pdf, it opens in a Firefox window. Unfortunately, it does not display (at least when in dual head mode). This should be simple, but I cannot disable the plugin. Under Firefox Edit - Preferences- Applications - pdf is set to "always ask" so I don't know why it uses acroread in the first place. Under Tools - Manage Content Plugins I see acroread is selected for pdf content. I have the option in the dropdown to search for a new plugin, but not to simply download the file. Typing about:config into the Firefox toolbar gives me a list of configuration options, but does not mention plugin.disable or acroread anywhere. How do I disable the plugin? I have Firefox 11.0 on Ubuntu 11.10

  • How do I share my jQuery plugin with the world?

    I made a plugin for jQuery, which I think is quite useful. It combines an animated colours plugin with an easings plugin, and adds a completely new feature of being able to refer to colours numerically (more useful in hex notation, so 0xff00cc for example) and therefore manipulate them mathematically more easily. I created a repository on github, and it sits there, nobody looks at it. Mostly, I would like people to look at it, use it, and improve it, so I can use the improvements and so on. I think this idea of numerically manipulating colors could be interesting. It makes it easy to change the hue without changing the saturation for example. Combined with animated colors, I think something interesting could be done, but I don't know what exactly. How do I let people know it (or any other project) is there..? I was going to post it on http://plugins.jquery.com which is currently down. Are there any other outlets for this kind of code?

    How do you forcibly uninstall Eclipse 3.5 plugins without using Eclipse? I made the mistake of installing Google's Android SDK, and now when I try to check for updates via the "Check For Updates" or "Install New Software", some Android process runs, consumes all my CPU, takes up 3 gigs of memory, and crashes Eclipse. I can't even get to the uninstall dialog before Google's plugin kills everything.

  • CakePHP, CodeIgniter or Rails for multi-user Tumblr clone?

    I'm about to start building a tumblr clone that handles multiple users (so premade clones like Gelato won't cut it) and I'm not sure which framework I'd like to build this is. Right now, I'm only intending to build a prototype. Something I can get a dozen friends on to test the concept and grow to maybe a couple hundred users to prove the market, so I'm not worried about long term scale. My biggest concern right now is quick deployment. I'd like to get from zero to signups in as short a time as possible, with as little customization to the framework of choice as possible. I have experience with PHP, but not Ruby. However, I don't think the learning curve would be too steep so I'm not ruling out rails. I just want the framework that is most appropriate for a system like a multi-user tumblr clone so that I can build it with as little hassle, and as quickly, as possible. If anyone has experience with a similar project, or with these frameworks and can offer an insightful perspective, I'd be very appreciative. Thanks for taking the time to read.   • Access Git Repository using Eclipse and Netbeans Plugins with LDAP Users

    Hello everyone! I've configure a git server. I need to use ssh because I've defined permissions using users of my domain, using LDAP. Only users with permissions could read a project. So, the links to access my repositories are like that: ssh://[email protected]@hostname/var/git/repo.git When I clone, commit or push a project using linux git commands or using tortoisegit on windows, there is no problem, everything works as expected. However, I've tried to clone a project using plugins from Eclipse (EGit) and Netbeans (NBGit), with no success. Seems that they can't recognize the host. I've accessed using a user from the server (not from the domain) and it cloned the project perfectly. Seems that the plugins assume that the host is everything after the first @. But always if a want to soft delete a record which hasMany other records, which are translated (located in the i18n-table partly), the related hasMany records aren't soft deleted. Example: Post hasMany Comments (dependent = true) Post actsAs SoftDeletable Comments actsAs SoftDeletable, Translate Post record get's soft deleted, but I also get an error for the dependent Comment records and they aren't soft deleted.
