  • Notifying iFrame page from Firefox extension?

    I'm writing a Firefox extension and need to notify an iFrame page of certain events. The iFrame page is contained within a sidebar created by the extension, and this iFrame page is controlled by me. When I load the iFrame page, the extension code needs to send a notification and trigger something to happen within the iFrame page. To accomplish this, I'm creating an event from the extension Javascript and firing the event, which the iFrame page is listening to. Unfortunately, when invoking document.createEvent(), this error pops up (copied, with the quotes, straight out of Firebug): Operation is not supported" code: "9 Any clues on the error, or suggestions on how to trigger something in an iFrame page from the extension Javascript?   • How to grab data from webpage in Chrome and output into Chrome extension popup?

    For a Google Chrome extension, none of the Javascript I write to manipulate the DOM of the extension popup.html seems to have any effect on the popup's DOM.     The Fortify.net website allows you to check what SSL Encryption key is used by your browser. I gave it a try with the browsers I've on my machine and these are the results Fedora 9 Firefox 3.0.8 = AES cipher, 256-bit key Chrome 4.0.249.30 = AES cipher, 256-bit key Windows XP SP3 IE 6.0.2x = RC4 cipher, 128-bit key Firefox = AES cipher, 256-bit key Chrome 4.1.249.1042 (42199) = RC4 cipher, 128-bit key .... WHAT!!?!! Chrome is using RC4 128-bit (as IE6 does) that is well known as been very weak! Chrome under Unix works fine... I'm wondering how is this possible? Do you have this issue or is there a way to change the default key to be AES 256bit? I'm using Chrome as the main browser under Windows and I'm really considering to switch back to Firefox

  • Randomly Losing Session Variables Only In Google Chrome & URL Rewriting

    Using Google Chrome, I'm seemingly losing/corrupting session data when navigating between pages (PHP 5.0.4, Apache 2.0.54). The website works perfectly fine in IE7/8, Firefox, Safari & Opera. The issue is only with Google Chrome. I narrowed down the problem. I'm using search friendly URL's, and hiding my front controller (index.php) via a .htaccess file. So the URL looks like: www.domain.com/blah/blah/ Here's the .htaccess file contents: Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteEngine on #allow cool urls RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*) index.php [L] #allow to have Url without index.php If I remove the .htaccess file, and expose the front controller in the URL: www.domain.com/index.php/blah/blah/, Chrome works perfectly fine. Any thoughts ideas? I'm thinking it's some kind of problem with how Chrome identifies what cookie to use and send to the server? This happens in Chrome 4 & 5. Thanks!

    I am working in Eclipse Modeling Framework (Eclipse plugin development) in my project the tool(project i am working) provides three perspectives. 1.Accelerator Analyst perspective 2.Contract Validation and 3.Underwriter rules Editor... By default it starts with Contract validation perspective (As we define it within the plugin_customization.ini). However after switching to other perspective does not change the perspective shown... As all perspective (Class, Id and Name) is define only inside Plugin.XML as it is the task of org.eclipse.ui.perspective that that perspective name should be come forefront.   • Chrome renders button links completely screwed up when placed inside a paragraph

    I am fairly proficient in CSS but now I am running into a very strange rendering issue in Google Chrome 9. I am trying to create some fancy looking link buttons (basically heavily styled anchors). Here is some example markup: <a href="" class="button"> <figure class="sprite icon icon_back"></figure> Link button with icon</a> This markup may look a litte strange to you, there's a few things you should know: I am using HTML5's figure class to include an icon as part of the button. I have the proper reset CSS applied and Chrome can render this tag for sure. Instead of actually pointing to an image I am applying CSS classes to the figure element. Within the CSS I am using the spriting technique to show the correct portion of a single large sprite image. All of this is working fine in Firefox, and actually also in Chrome. The correct rendering can be seen in the following image: It renders like that in both Firefox and Chrome. Here comes the problem, if I place such a button within paragraph tags <p></p> this is what happens in Chrome only: Notice how the button is ripped apart? Only in Chrome and only when placed inside a paragraph. It gets even stranger: this only happens for the first button inside the paragraph, if I would place three buttons inside a paragraph, only the 1st one is screwed up. Your first question would probably be about the CSS.     I work on a little extension on Google Chrome, I want to create a new tab, go on the url "sample"+i+".com", launch a content script on this url, update the current tab to "sample"+(i+1)+".com", and launch the same script. I looked the Q&A available on stackoverflow and I google it but I didn't found a solution who works.     I started updating the distro from 13.04 to 13.10. Then I got my hands on a Radeon HD 2600. I installed the RV630 compatible Catalystdriver from the official webpage. Then xserver crashed everytime I opened a browser or vlc fx.   • How to disable 3rd party cookies in Chrome?

    I have both the "stop websites from storing local data" and the "block all third party cookies without exception" settings enabled in Chrome 12 (I'm not sure what the exact names of these settings are in english as I run Chrome with swedish localization). I do however have two problems. My first problem is that when I'm visiting one of my local news paper's site (and surely other), cookies from www.facebook.com is allowed for some reason. I suspect that the reason is that I have added an exception to the www.facebook.com domain but as the setting "block all third party cookies without exception" implies, that shouldn't matter. My second problem is that if I check what cookies are stored on my computer after browsing for a while, I have tons of cookies that are not on my white list. Primarily from ad services. My expectations from enabling the above mentioned settings was that only cookies that fulfill the two folling requirements would be accepted: the cookies must be from the domain in my address bar the cookies must be from a domain on my whitelist Apparently this isn't the case. The question is, have I completely misunderstood the settings or is this a bug? And, either way, is there a way to accomplish my desired behavior?

    I have a php script with is used to rotate banner images on a site. Under Firefox/IE page refreshes will make another request and a different image will be returned. Under Chrome, the request seems to be cached and only opening the page in a new tab will cause it to actually query the script. I believe this used to work in older versions of chrome, I've tried a few different types of redirect codes all with the same result.   • Chrome's new window disappear from desktop

    I'm having this problem with Chrome on a Windows 7 x86 machine. I'm using Chrome for a locally hosted intranet web app. In the web app, there's frequent use of new window which popup, which works like a dialog box for the app. The problem started since yesterday. All the new windows doesn't appear on top and no where to be found on the desktop. But it does appear on the taskbar. Clicking the button on the taskbar doesn't bring up the window as well. I've also tried Alt+Space, then Move, it doesn't work. I only found 2 way to bring it up, Maximize or Show as tab. What could have caused this and how should I fix it? Thanks EDIT: I've configure to not group taskbar buttons. EDIT: I've just gone through the javascript of the button, it call window.open to display the popup. I can see the popup flicker and disappear. If I step through the code, the popup will display properly, sometime. Also, if I click the button twice, it will also display the popup, but at a much smaller size, less than 100x100

  • URL autocomplete no longer working in Chrome

    The browser URL autocomplete has started behaving differently starting yesterday. I used to access my top urls by typing the first one or two letters of a URL then pressing enter. Now, I have to visually fish for the right one and push the down arrow to select the url. Big difference. Anybody know if I can get the old functionality back somehow? Have I messed a setting? Example of how my browser used to work: Gmail.com: CMD + L Type G Enter Stackoverflow.com CMD + L Type S Enter Normally, the browser bar would already be highlighted with gmail.com after typing the first g. It would narrow the matches depending on what characters were typed next, or simply go to it if I pressed enter. UPDATE: I just realized my history tab looks suspicious. No entries But clearly Chrome is pulling some data from my history, as I have very personalized recommendations when typing in a letter. UPDATE: Fixed! Saved my bookmarks, removed my ~/Library/Application\ Support/Google/Default directory (careful, it looks like absolutely everything is stored here) restarted chrome, and within one visit to Gmail.com, my autocomplete was filling in my URLs like so: Beautiful.

  • Is it possible to apply a Theme to Google Chrome when it's in "Application Mode"?

    I've applied the "brushed" theme (https://tools.google.com/chrome/intl/en/themes/theme%5Fbrushed.html) to my main google chrome browser windows without any problem. However none of the "application mode" shortcuts I created pick up this theme. For example, running chrome as follows does not pick up the "brushed" theme: chrome.exe --app=gmail.com I want to be able to apply themes to google chrome in application mode.
