  • Running 32bit eclipse on 64bit windows.

    I am trying to use a 32bit installation of eclipse on my 64bit windows machine. I have eclipse extracted to my C: Drive and Java installed in ProgramFiles(x86) When I go to start eclipse I get the error:Failed to load the JNI shared Library"C:Program Files(x86)\Java\jre6\bin\jvm.dll" I looked and the file is not there. I am setting something up wrong?Just did a fresh install of Java before trying to run eclipse.

  • I can not start Eclipse anymore

    Today, I can not start Eclipse anymore. It worked fine yesterday, then I got a few Windows Updates before turning off the computer. When I start Eclipse 3.4 today, the UAC ask me for the Administrator password, and then the Eclipse Splash shows up for a short while, after that nothing more happens. And If I try to start Eclipse 3.5, the same thing happens except the UAC. What can the problem be? How can I solve this?

  • Intellij Community can't use http proxy for Maven

    I have Intellij IDEA Community installed on a Linux box that needs to use an authenticated proxy to get to the Internet. I have a system-wide proxy on the box that works, and I have the proxy configured in ~/.m2/settings.xml. Maven correctly uses the proxy when I run try it from the command-line. I have the same proxy configured within Intellij and it gives me the plugins listing correctly. But when I try to sync with the Maven repository withing Intellij I keep getting this: [WARNING] Unable to get resource 'org.codehaus.mojo:hibernate3-maven-plugin:pom:2.2' from repository restlet (http://maven.restlet.org): Authorization failed: Not authorized by proxy. I went to Settings-Maven and put in the proxy info as properties and that didn't work. I can see by looking at those settings that Intellij is reading my ~./m2/settings.xml fine because it knows where my local repo is (it's in a non-standard place). Anyone know how I can get this working?

  • spring web application context is not loaded from jar file in WEB-INF/lib when running tomcat in eclipse

    I am experimenting with spring, maven, and eclipse but stumbling on a weird issue. I am running Eclipse Helios SR1 with the STS (Spring tools suite) plugin which includes the Maven plugin also. What i want to achieve is a spring mvc webapp which uses an application context loaded from a local application context xml file, but also from other application contexts in jar files dependencies included in WEB-INF/lib. What i'd ultimately like to do is have my persistence layer separated in its own jar file but containing its own spring context files with persistence specific configuration (e.g a jpa entityManagerFactory for example). So to experiment with loading resources from jar dependencies, i created a simple maven project from eclipse, which defines an applicationContext.xml file in src/main/resources Inside, i define a bean <bean id="mybean" class="org.test.MyClass" /> and create the class in the org.test package I run mvn-install from eclipse, which generates me a jar file containing my class and the applicationContext.xml file: testproj.jar |_META-INF |_org |_test |_MyClass.class |_applicationContext.xml I then create a spring mvc project from the Spring template projects provided by STS. I have configured an instance of Tomcat 7.0.8 , and also an instance of springSource tc Server within eclipse. Deploying the newly created project on both servers works without problem. I then add my previous project as a maven dependency of the mvc project. the jar file is correctly added in the Maven Dependencies of the project. In the web.xml that is generated, i now want to load the applicationContext.xml from the jar file as well as the existing one generated for the project.     Hi people, As you know, SBT is compatible with Maven in some way -- SBT recognizes simple Maven POMs and can use dependencies and repositories specified in them. However, SBT wiki says that, if inline dependency is specified in SBT project definition, POM will be ignored (so using both in this case is impossible): Maven and Ivy configurations (pom.xml and ivy.xml) are ignored when inline dependency declarations are present. Does anyone know, if any kind of converter from Maven POM to SBT project definition exists (translating POM's XML into project definition Scala code)? I'm considering writing such script (that will help to migrate my old Scala/Maven projects to SBT), but want to know first, if this functionality already exists. Thanks in advance.

I want to make all my maven packages to compile with jdk 1.6, and I can't find a good way to do it without manually setting it on every single POMs - I'm sick of copy-and-pasting <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId> <artifactId>maven-compiler-plugin</artifactId> <configuration> <source>1.6</source> <target>1.6</target> </configuration> in every single pom.xml file I generate. Is there a simpler way to resolve this issue?

  • Build Pipelining and Continuous Integration with Maven and Hudson

    Currently the my team is considering splitting our single CI build process into a more streamlined multi-stage process to speed up basic build feedback and isolate different ci concerns. The idea we had was to have each stage exist in Hudson as a different build with the correct maven goal or maven plugin execution, then chain them together using the post-build hooks of Hudson. However to my knowledge, Maven as a build tool mandates that any lifecycle phase which is performed automatically builds every preceding lifecycle phase. This presents a number of problems the most significant of which is that maven is recreating the build resources with each distinct call and not using those of the previous stage. This not only breaks the consistency of the build lifecycle but has much more unnecessary processing overhead. Is there a way to accomplish pipelining with CI using Maven? Assuming there is, is there a way to let Hudson know to use those resources built from the previous stage in the next one?

  • Maven install-file won't generate pom.xml

    I've installed some third party jars to my repository using the following command: mvn install:install-file -Dfile=/home/anotherCoder/Downloads/nifty-1.0.jar -DgroupId=nifty-gui -DartifactId=nifty-gui -Dversion=1.0 -Dpackaging=jar However, once I do mvn compile, maven complains that there is no pom file in the repository and attempts to download it, but can't cause it is not published at any remote repository. Here is the exact message from maven: Downloading: http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/nifty-gui/nifty-gui/1.0/nifty-gui-1.0.pom [INFO] Unable to find resource 'nifty-gui:nifty-gui:pom:1.0' in repository central (http://repo1.maven.org/maven2) So how do I get maven to generate a pom file for that jar and put it in my local repository?

    What I want to do is to force Maven to download the 'maven-metadata.xml' for each artifact that I have in my local repository. The default Maven behaviour is to download only metadata from remote repositories (see this question). Why I want to do that: Currently I have a remote repository running in a build machine. By remote repository I mean a directory located in the build machine that contains all dependencies that I need to build my Maven projects. Note that I'm not using a repository manager like Nexus, the repository is just a copy of a local repository that I have uploaded to my build machine. However, since my local repository did not contain the 'maven-metadata.xml' files, these metadata files are also missing in the build machine repository. If I could retrieve the metadata files from the central repository, then it would be possible to upload a working remote repository to my build machine.

  • Maven: trying to get my submodule's poms to NOT inherit a plugin in the parent

    My project has a parent pom and several submodule poms. I've put a plugin in the parent that is responsible for building our installer distributables (using install4j). It doesn't make sense to have this plugin run on the submodules, so I've put false in the plugin's config, as seen below. The problem is, when I run mvn clean install install4j:compile it cleans, compiles, and runs the install4j plugin on the parent, but then it tries to run it on the child modules and crashes.   • Eclipse Java Code Formatter in NetBeans Plugin Manager

    Great news for Eclipse refugees everywhere. Benno Markiewicz forked the Eclipse formatter plugin that I blogged about sometime ago (here and here)... and he fixed many bugs, while also adding new features. It's a handy plugin when you're (a) switching from Eclipse to NetBeans and want to continue using your old formatting rules and (b) working in a polyglot IDE team, i.e., now the formatting rules defined in Eclipse can be imported into NetBeans IDE and everyone will happily be able to conform to the same set of formatting standards.     Eclipse Vaadin plugin has cool autobuild feature. Just clicking "restart application" in debug console will bring up to date application version to live. Unfortunately importing maven generated vaadin project(using m2e) and copy-pasting .project buildCommands and natures from vaadin eclipse plugin generated project does not works. I'm unnable to "Run on server...", tomcat does not deploy app for unknown reason. I can see app in wtpapps folder but it still does not deploys.

    I have created a google-app-engine java project in Eclipse using Google's Eclipse plugin. My previous attempt to deploy failed. Now, when I retry, I get the following message: Unable to update app: Error posting to URL : http://appengine.google.com/api/appversion/create?app_id=mybdaywisherversion=1 409 conflict Another transaction for this user is already in progress for this app and major version. That user can undo the transaction with appcfg.py's "rollback" command. Now, I have always used the google-app-engine features from inside Eclipse only and have not a clue how to run the appcfg.py command. Could not get much help from documentation available over the internet. The only thing I could make out was for mac (I'm on mac), the command to be used is appcfg.sh. Inside Eclipse, I looked where App-Engine SDK is located on my machine and went to that location. Even found appcfg.sh there. But when I try to run it, it only reports the error "command not found". Tried various alternatives to run it (like tried running it with sudo, tried running it as ./appcfg.sh by going to whether its located) but no success Can someone please tell me the step I will have to follow to run the apcfg command?

I can open the keystore using the new password with ikeyman and keytool. Using some "slightly dodgy" script, I can reverse the stash file and see that indeed the new password is set. Then, even if I restore the old keystore files (plugin-key.kdb,plugin-key.crl,plugin-key.sth,plugin-key.rdb) they no longer work either! So it must be permissions right? Well the permissions are the same as before, if I switch to apache user I can browse right through to the files and read them. I have even chown'ed them to apache:apache and/or chmod 777 and still its the same error! Does anyone have a clue what is going on here? Its pretty urgent as our site will be without HTTPS in a couple of days if this isn't resolved - thats bad for a retail web site :)

My application is using the following APIs: maven-jetty-plugin (version 6.1.10) maven-compiler-plugin (version 2.3.1) myfaces-api & -impl (version 1.2.7) jsf-facelets (version 1.1.14) richfaces (version 3.3.3) javax servlet jstl (version 1.2) javax servlet-api (version 2.5) and some other plugins as well.   • When to choose "Generate an activator..." when creating a new Eclipse plugin project

    There are lots of Eclipse RCP tutorials that begin with "Create a new plugin project..." It seems that approx. 70% of them specify checking the Generate an activator, a Java class that controls the plug-in life cycle. The others specifically say don't check that toggle. Its not clear to me, what generating an activator class does for you, when you need one, and when you don't. For being a prominent option you get every time you create a new plugin project (it seems to be set on by default) this option isn't very well explained anywhere that I have found. Any advice/rules of thumb on choosing this option when creating Eclipse plugin projects?
