  • Log call information whenever there is a phone call.

    - by linuxdoniv
    Hi, I have written the android application and I want the application to send the call information whenever there is an incoming call and it ends. This way I would be sending all calls to the server irrespective of size of the call log. Here is the code public class PhoneInfo extends BroadcastReceiver { private int incoming_call = 0; private Cursor c; Context context; public void onReceive(Context con, Intent intent) { c = con.getContentResolver().query( android.provider.CallLog.Calls.CONTENT_URI, null, null, null, android.provider.CallLog.Calls.DATE+ " DESC"); context = con; IncomingCallListener phoneListener=new IncomingCallListener(); TelephonyManager telephony = (TelephonyManager) con.getSystemService(Context.TELEPHONY_SERVICE); telephony.listen(phoneListener,PhoneStateListener.LISTEN_CALL_STATE); } public class IncomingCallListener extends PhoneStateListener { public void onCallStateChanged(int state,String incomingNumber){ switch(state){ case TelephonyManager.CALL_STATE_IDLE: if(incoming_call == 1){ CollectSendCallInfo(); incoming_call = 0; } break; case TelephonyManager.CALL_STATE_OFFHOOK: break; case TelephonyManager.CALL_STATE_RINGING: incoming_call = 1; break; } } } private void CollectSendCallInfo() { int numberColumn = c.getColumnIndex( android.provider.CallLog.Calls.NUMBER); int dateColumn = c.getColumnIndex( android.provider.CallLog.Calls.DATE); int typeColumn = c.getColumnIndex( android.provider.CallLog.Calls.TYPE); int durationColumn=c.getColumnIndex( android.provider.CallLog.Calls.DURATION); ArrayList<String> callList = new ArrayList<String>(); try{ boolean moveToFirst=c.moveToFirst(); } catch(Exception e) { ; // could not move to the first row. return; } int row_count = c.getCount(); int loop_index = 0; int is_latest_call_read = 0; String callerPhonenumber = c.getString(numberColumn); int callDate = c.getInt(dateColumn); int callType = c.getInt(typeColumn); int duration=c.getInt(durationColumn); while((loop_index <row_count) && (is_latest_call_read != 1)){ switch(callType){ case android.provider.CallLog.Calls.INCOMING_TYPE: is_latest_call_read = 1; break; case android.provider.CallLog.Calls.MISSED_TYPE: break; case android.provider.CallLog.Calls.OUTGOING_TYPE: break; } loop_index++; c.moveToNext(); } SendCallInfo(callerPhonenumber, Integer.toString(duration), Integer.toString(callDate)); } private void SendCallInfo(String callerPhonenumber, String callDuration, String callDate) { JSONObject j = new JSONObject(); try { j.put("Caller", callerPhonenumber); j.put("Duration", callDuration); j.put("CallDate", callDate); } catch (JSONException e) { Toast.makeText(context, "Json object failure!", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); } String url = "http://xxxxxx.xxx.xx/xxxx/xxx.php"; Map<String, String> kvPairs = new HashMap<String, String>(); kvPairs.put("phonecall", j.toString()); HttpResponse re; try { re = doPost(url, kvPairs); String temp; try { temp = EntityUtils.toString(re.getEntity()); if (temp.compareTo("SUCCESS") == 0) { ; } else ; e1.printStackTrace(); } } and here is the manifest file <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION"></uses-permission> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"></uses-permission> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION"></uses-permission> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_LOCATION_EXTRA_COMMANDS"></uses-permission> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INSTALL_LOCATION_PROVIDER"></uses-permission> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.SET_DEBUG_APP"></uses-permission> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.RECEIVE_SMS"></uses-permission> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.READ_PHONE_STATE"></uses-permission> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.READ_SMS"></uses-permission> <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name"> <activity android:name=".Friend" android:label="@string/app_name"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> <activity android:name=".LoginInfo" android:label="@string/app_name"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.DEFAULT" /> </intent-filter> </activity> <service android:exported="true" android:enabled="true" android:name=".GeoUpdateService" > </service> <receiver android:name=".SmsInfo" > <intent-filter> <action android:name= "android.provider.Telephony.SMS_RECEIVED" /> </intent-filter> </receiver> <receiver android:name=".PhoneInfo" > <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.PHONE_STATE"></action> </intent-filter> </receiver> </application> The application just crashes when there is an incoming call.. i have been able to log the information about incoming SMS, but this call info logging is failing. Thanks for any help.

  • How do you disable the Windows Phone 7 splash screen?

    - by Zain
Hi, Is there any way to disable the WP7 splash screen and just show a blank screen? My splash screen only stays on for less than half a second, leaving the user with a rather jarring sensation. I'd rather they not see any splash screen at all. I would have simply used a plain black image as my splash screen, but then that would result in an ugly experience for people using a light theme (since my app's background is white on light themes and black on dark themes) Thanks!

  • What is the best method to call an arbitrary JSON server from .NET (Specifically Windows Phone 7)

    - by davidhayes
Hi, I have a server that I have no control over, it's JSON based and I've put together a simple proof of concept that calls the server using HTTPWebRequest etc and it works fine (if a little wordy since MS have removed all Synchronous I/O calls). Is there a better way of doing this? I've been looking at WCF as an option but any stable and reasonably performant library should do the job. This is a new area for me so I'm a little unsure what the best practice is (or where to find it out) Thanks in advance Dave

  • Why might a silverlight ListBox on Windows Phone not allow me scroll all the way down to the bottom?

    - by Byron Sommardahl
I have a ListBox in a grid that gets databound when the page loads... pretty straightforward. The problem I'm having is that, after the box is databound, I can scroll... but not all the way to the bottom of the list. It stops an item or two short and won't let me scroll anymore. Here's the listbox XAML: <Grid x:Name="ContentGrid" Grid.Row="2"> <ListBox x:Name="lbFeed" ItemsSource="{Binding Items}" SelectionChanged="lbFeed_SelectionChanged" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="480"> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate x:Key="MyDataTemplate"> <StackPanel Orientation="Vertical" Width="430"> <TextBlock Text="Some text" TextAlignment="Center" /> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> </Grid> I can post more code, but I'm still getting my feet wet in XAML and I'm not sure what might be causing this. If you need more context, let me know and I'll add it here.

  • how do you load files in windows phone 7? using XNA

    - by matt
do you seriously have to make your own content pipeline project for every single type of file you want to load? Microsoft just seem to be pretending that the iphone doesn't exist (even though they are now paying devs to port between them). I'm trying to port my game from the iphone to winmo7, and I already have a nice asset pipeline set up for exporting textures in the exact format we want (16 bit fmts ect) I just want to be able to open a file and read it, just like I would on any other platform. I have tried System.IO.File.OpenText("atextfile.txt"), but it says that function is "RESTRICTED!!!!" I have tried just adding the txt file to the content project, setting its properties to "content" and "copy always" and then trying to open it doing this.Content.Load("atextfile.txt"); with and without the extension, says it can't find the file. EDIT: FYI, i'm using XNA, not Silverlight

  • How can I navigate through xaml pages with Monogame in a Windows Phone 8 project?

    - by misiMe
I finished to develop an XNA game, then I created the Monogame project, and tested it on my device. Now I made some other pages such as an "about" page. How can I go to that page considering I have a Monogame project and just an XNA code? In particular inside my game I made a Main Menu where you can click the "about" button and know if someone has clicked: how can I link that event to the "go to about.xaml" function? Inside XNA, update method: if (about_button.IsClicked()) { // Go to about.xaml } I tried: if (about_button.IsClicked()) { ((PhoneApplicationFrame)Application.Current.RootVisual).Navigate(new Uri("/About.xaml", UriKind.Relative)); } But it throws: System.UnauthorizedAccessException

  • Are there predifined styles for making arrow buttons in windows phone 7?

    - by Micah
I want to make some buttons in my app that look like the common round buttons with the arrows found all over the win 7 apps. Anyone know where I can find resources for these? UPDATE Here's a great tutorial on creating round buttons in WP7. This is exactly what I was trying to do, but I will use the images mentioned by John Gardner below: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/priozersk/archive/2010/08/13/creating-round-button-for-wp7-part-1.aspx http://blogs.msdn.com/b/priozersk/archive/2010/08/14/creating-round-image-button-for-wp7-part-1.aspx Thakns!

  • Call for Abstracts Now Open for Microsoft ASP.NET Connections (Closing April 26)

    - by plitwin
We are putting out a call for abstracts to present at the Fall 2010 Microsoft ASP.NET Connections conference in Las Vegas, Nov 9-13 2009. The due date for submissions is April 26, 2010. For submitting sessions, please use this URL: http://www.deeptraining.com/devconnections/abstracts Please keep the abstracts under 200 words each and in one paragraph. No bulleted items and line breaks, and please use a spell-checker. Do not email abstracts, you need to use the web-based tool to submit them. Please submit at least 3 abstracts, but it would help your chances of being selected if you submitted 5 or more abstracts. Also, you are encouraged to suggest all-day pre or post conference workshops as well. We need to finalize the conference content and the tracks layout in just a few short weeks, so we need your abstracts by April 26th. No exceptions will be granted on late submissions! Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):* ASP.NET Webforms* ASP.NET AJAX* ASP.NET MVC* Dynamic Data* Anything else related to ASP.NET For Fall 2010, we are having a seperate Silverlight conference where you can submit abstracts for Silverlight and Windows 7 Phone Development. In fact, you can use the same URL to submit sessions to Microsoft ASP.NET Connections, Silverlight Connections, Visual Studio Connections, or SQL Server Connections. The URL again is:http://www.deeptraining.com/devconnections/abstracts Please realize that while we want a lot of the new and the cool, it's also okay to propose sessions on the more mundane "real world" stuff as it pertains to ASP.NET. What you will get if selected:* $500 per regular conference talk.* Compensation for full-day workshops ranges from $500 for 1-20 attendees to $2500 for 200+ attendees.* Coach airfare and hotel stay paid by the conference.* Free admission to all of the co-located conferences* Speaker party* The adoration of attendees* etc. Your continued suport of Microsoft ASP.NET Connections and the other DevConnections conferences is appreciated. Good luck and thank you,Paul LitwinMicrosoft ASP.NET Conference Chair

  • Repurpose Old Phones As Intercoms

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
If you’ve got some old wired telephones laying around for want of a project, this simple hack turns two wired phones into an intercom. Over at Hack A Day, Caleb Kraft shares his simple phone hack inspired by his VW bus. He writes: In case you haven’t noticed from my many comments on the subject, I drive a VW bus. It is a 1976 Westfalia camper with sage green paint and green plaid upholstery. I absolutely love it and so does the rest of my family. We go for drives in the country as well as camping regularly. We have found that the kids have a hard time communicating with us while we’re going higher speeds. These things aren’t the quietest automobiles in the world. Pushing this bread loaf shaped hunk of steel down the road with an engine that might top out at 75hp results in wind noise, engine noise, and of course, vibration. I decided to employ a really old hack to put two functional telephones in the bus so my kids can talk to my wife (or whoever the passenger is) without screaming quite so loud. This hack is extremely easy, fairly cheap, and can be done in just a few minutes. The result is a functional intercom that you could use pretty much anywhere! • Are there any "best practices" on cross-device development?

    - by vstrien
Developing for smartphones in the way the industry is currently doing is relatively new. Of course, there has been enterprise-level mobile development for several decades. The platforms have changed, however. Think of: from stylus-input to touch-input (different screen res, different control layout etc.) new ways of handling multi-tasking on mobile platforms (e.g. WP7's "tombstoning") The way these platforms work aren't totally new (iPhone has been around for quite awhile now for example), but at the moment when developing a functionally equal application for both desktop and smartphone it comes down to developing two applications from ground up. Especially with the birth of Windows Phone with the .NET-platform on board and using Silverlight as UI-language, it's becoming appealing to promote the re-use of (parts of the UI). Still, it's fairly obvious that the needs of an application on a smartphone (or tablet) are very different compared to the needs of a desktop application. An (almost) one-on-one conversion will therefore be impossible. My question: are there "best practices", pitfalls etc. documented about developing "cross-device" applications (for example, developing an app for both the desktop and the smartphone/tablet)? I've been looking at weblogs, scientific papers and more for a week or so, but what I've found so far is only about "migratory interfaces".

  • WP7 Tips–Part I– Media File Coding Techniques to help pass the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace Certification Requirements

    - by seaniannuzzi
Overview Developing an application that plays media files on a Windows Phone 7 Device seems fairly straight forward.  However, what can make this a bit frustrating are the necessary requirements in order to pass the WP7 marketplace requirements so that your application can be published.  If you are new to this development, be aware of these common challenges that are likely to be made.  Below are some techniques and recommendations on how optimize your application to handle playing MP3 and/or WMA files that needs to adhere to the marketplace requirements.   Windows Phone 7 Certification Requirements Windows Phone 7 Developers Blog   Some common challenges are: Not prompting the user if another media file is playing in the background before playing your media file Not allowing the user to control the volume Not allowing the user to mute the sound Not allowing the media to be interrupted by a phone call  To keep this as simple as possible I am only going to focus on what “not to do” and what “to do” in order to implement a simple media solution. Things you will need or may be useful to you before you begin: Visual Studio 2010 Visual Studio 2010 Feature Packs Windows Phone 7 Developer Tools Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone Windows Phone Emulator Resources Silverlight 4 Tools For Visual Studio XNA Game Studio 4.0 Microsoft Expression Blend for Windows Phone Note: Please keep in mind you do not need all of these downloaded and installed, it is just easier to have all that you need now rather than add them on later.   Objective Summary Create a Windows Phone 7 – Windows Media Sample Application.  The application will implement many of the required features in order to pass the WP7 marketplace certification requirements in order to publish an application to WP7’s marketplace. (Disclaimer: I am not trying to indicate that this application will always pass as the requirements may change or be updated)   Step 1: – Create a New Windows Phone 7 Project   Step 2: – Update the Title and Application Name of your WP7 Application For this example I changed: the Title to: “DOTNETNUZZI WP7 MEDIA SAMPLE - v1.00” and the Page Title to:  “media magic”. Note: I also updated the background.   Step 3: – XAML - Media Element Preparation and Best Practice Before we begin the next step I just wanted to point out a few things that you should not do as a best practice when developing an application for WP7 that is playing music.  Please keep in mind that these requirements are not the same if you are playing Sound Effects and are geared towards playing media in the background.   If you have coded this – be prepared to change it:   To avoid a failure from the market place remove all of your media source elements from your XAML or simply create them dynamically.  To keep this simple we will remove the source and set the AutoPlay property to false to ensure that there are no media elements are active when the application is started. Proper example of the media element with No Source:   Some Additional Settings - Add XAML Support for a Mute Button   Step 4: – Boolean to handle toggle of Mute Feature Step 5: – Add Event Handler for Main Page Load   Step 6: – Add Reference to the XNA Framework   Step 7: – Add two Using Statements to Resolve the Namespace of Media and the Application Bar using Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Media; using Microsoft.Phone.Shell;   Step 8: – Add the Method to Check the Media State as Shown Below   Step 9: – Add Code to Mute the Media File Step 10: – Add Code to Play the Media File //if the state of the media has been checked you are good to go. media_sample.Play(); Note: If we tried to perform this operation at this point you will receive the following error: System.InvalidOperationException was unhandled Message=FrameworkDispatcher.Update has not been called. Regular FrameworkDispatcher.Update calls are necessary for fire and forget sound effects and framework events to function correctly. See http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=193853 for details. StackTrace:        at Microsoft.Xna.Framework.FrameworkDispatcher.AddNewPendingCall(ManagedCallType callType, UInt32 arg)        at Microsoft.Xna.Framework.UserAsyncDispatcher.HandleManagedCallback(ManagedCallType managedCallType, UInt32 managedCallArgs) at Microsoft.Xna.Framework.UserAsyncDispatcher.AsyncDispatcherThreadFunction()            It is not recommended that you just add the FrameworkDispatcher.Update(); call before playing the media file. It is recommended that you implement the following class to your solution and implement this class in the app.xaml.cs file.   Step 11: – Add FrameworkDispatcher Features I recommend creating a class named XNAAsyncDispatcher and adding the following code:   After you have added the code accordingly, you can now implement this into your app.xaml.cs file as highlighted below.   Note:  If you application sound file is not playing make sure you have the proper “Build Action” set such as Content.   Running the Sample Now that we have some of the foundation created you should be able to run the application successfully.  When the application launches your sound options should be set accordingly when the “checkMediaState” method is called.  As a result the application will properly setup the media options and/or alert the user accordinglyper the certification requirements.  In addition, the sample also shows a quick way to mute the sound in your application by simply removing the URI source of the media file.  If everything successfully compiled the application should look similar to below.                 <sound playing>   Summary At this point we have a fully functional application that provides techniques on how to avoid some common challenges when working with media files and developing applications for Windows Phone 7.  The techniques mentioned above should make things a little easier and helpful in getting your WP7 application approved and published on the Marketplace.  The next blog post will be titled: WP7 Tips–Part II - How to write code that will pass the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace Requirements for Themes (light and dark). If anyone has any questions or comments please comment on this blog.

  • OpenSSL Handshake Failure (14094410) - Erroneous Client Certificate Check from Mobile Phone

    - by Clayton Sims
I'm running a proxy server through Apache with modssl, which we're using to proxy POSTs from mobile devices to another internal server. This works successfully for most clients, but requests from a specific phone model (Nokia 2690) are showing a bizarre handshake failure. It looks as though OpenSSL is either requesting (or attempting to read an unsolicited) client certificate from the phone (which is especially bizarre because j2me's kssl implementation doesn't support client certs). I've disabled client certificates with the SSLVerifyClient none directive in both the virtual host conf and the modssl conf. The trace from error.log on debug level is (details redacted): [client 41.220.207.10] Connection to child 0 established (server www.myserver.org:443) [info] Seeding PRNG with 656 bytes of entropy [debug] ssl_engine_kernel.c(1866): OpenSSL: Handshake: start [debug] ssl_engine_kernel.c(1874): OpenSSL: Loop: before/accept initialization [debug] ssl_engine_io.c(1882): OpenSSL: read 11/11 bytes from BIO#7fe3fbaf17a0 [mem: 7fe3fbaf90d0] (BIO dump follows) [debug] ssl_engine_io.c(1815): +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ [debug] ssl_engine_io.c(1860): +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ [debug] ssl_engine_io.c(1882): OpenSSL: read 49/49 bytes from BIO#7fe3fbaf17a0 [mem: 7fe3fbaf90db] (BIO dump follows) [debug] ssl_engine_io.c(1815): +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ [debug] ssl_engine_io.c(1860): +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ [debug] ssl_engine_kernel.c(1874): OpenSSL: Loop: SSLv3 read client hello A [debug] ssl_engine_kernel.c(1874): OpenSSL: Loop: SSLv3 write server hello A [debug] ssl_engine_kernel.c(1874): OpenSSL: Loop: SSLv3 write certificate A [debug] ssl_engine_kernel.c(1874): OpenSSL: Loop: SSLv3 write server done A [debug] ssl_engine_kernel.c(1874): OpenSSL: Loop: SSLv3 flush data [debug] ssl_engine_io.c(1882): OpenSSL: read 5/5 bytes from BIO#7fe3fbaf17a0 [mem: 7fe3fbaf90d0] (BIO dump follows) [debug] ssl_engine_io.c(1815): +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ [debug] ssl_engine_io.c(1860): +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ [debug] ssl_engine_io.c(1882): OpenSSL: read 2/2 bytes from BIO#7fe3fbaf17a0 [mem: 7fe3fbaf90d5] (BIO dump follows) [debug] ssl_engine_io.c(1815): +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ [debug] ssl_engine_io.c(1860): +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ [debug] ssl_engine_kernel.c(1879): OpenSSL: Read: SSLv3 read client certificate A [debug] ssl_engine_kernel.c(1898): OpenSSL: Exit: failed in SSLv3 read client certificate A [client 41.220.207.10] SSL library error 1 in handshake (server www.myserver.org:443) [info] SSL Library Error: 336151568 error:14094410:SSL routines:SSL3_READ_BYTES:sslv3 alert handshake failure [client 41.220.207.10] Connection closed to child 0 with abortive shutdown (server www.myserver.org:443) I've tried enabling all ciphers and all protocols temporarily with modssl, neither of which seemed to be the issue. The phone should be using RSA_RC4_128_MD5 and SSLv3, all of which are available. Am I missing something more fundamental about what's failing here? It seemed like the certificate request might have been part of a renegotiation failure. I tried enabling SSLInsecureRenegotiation On on the virtual host, in case it was an issue of the phone's SSL not supporting the new protocol, but to no avail. Currently running: Apache/2.2.16 (Ubuntu) mod_ssl/2.2.16 OpenSSL/0.9.8o Apache proxy_html/3.0.1

  • iR Remote TO IR Reciever in phone TO PC

    - by Adam M-W
I'm too cheap and stingy to buy a proper USB infrared receiver for my PC, however my phone (Nokia N95) has a receiver built in. I know for a fact that there must be some API to access it (for Tx at least) as the irRemote works. Is there any good programs available or how would I start to set up so that my phone sends all the iR data captured by it over Wifi or Bluetooth to my Windows PC for use in XBMC or other programs?

  • Using regex to fix phone numbers in a CSV with PHP

My new phone does not recognize a phone number unless it's area code matches the incoming call. Since I live in Idaho where an area code is not needed for in-state calls, many of my contacts were saved without an area code. Since I have thousands of contacts stored in my phone, it would not be practical to manually update them. I decided to write the following PHP script to handle the problem. It seems to work well, except that I'm finding duplicate area codes at the beginning of random contacts. <?php //the script can take a while to complete set_time_limit(200); function validate_area_code($number) { //digits are taken one by one out of $number, and insert in to $numString $numString = ""; for ($i = 0; $i < strlen($number); $i++) { $curr = substr($number,$i,1); //only copy from $number to $numString when the character is numeric if (is_numeric($curr)) { $numString = $numString . $curr; } } //add area code "208" to the beginning of any phone number of length 7 if (strlen($numString) == 7) { return "208" . $numString; //remove country code (none of the contacts are outside the U.S.) } else if (strlen($numString) == 11) { return preg_replace("/^1/","",$numString); } else { return $numString; } } //matches any phone number in the csv $pattern = "/((1? ?\(?[2-9]\d\d\)? *)? ?\d\d\d-?\d\d\d\d)/"; $csv = file_get_contents("contacts2.CSV"); preg_match_all($pattern,$csv,$matches); foreach ($matches[0] as $key1 => $value) { /*create a pattern that matches the specific phone number by adding slashes before possible special characters*/ $pattern = preg_replace("/\(|\)|\-/","\\\\$0",$value); //create the replacement phone number $replacement = validate_area_code($value); //add delimeters $pattern = "/" . $pattern . "/"; $csv = preg_replace($pattern,$replacement,$csv); } echo $csv; ?> Is there a better approach to modifying the csv? Also, is there a way to minimize the number of passes over the csv? In the script above, preg_replace is called thousands of times on a very large String.

  • Pantech Link II, Ubuntu and Virtual XP

    - by user85041
Okay this is my problem. I have a Pantech Link II, dmesg states: [ 896.072037] usb 2-3: new high-speed USB device number 3 using ehci_hcd [ 896.258562] cdc_acm 2-3:1.0: ttyACM0: USB ACM device [ 896.260039] usbcore: registered new interface driver cdc_acm [ 896.260042] cdc_acm: USB Abstract Control Model driver for USB modems and ISDN adapters Have it installed through wine (pc suite and driver) and it doesn't see it. Virtual XP through VMWare Player sees my device, knows it needs a driver. The removable devices says Curitel Pantech USB Device (Maybe Driver). I have PC Suite installed in XP, I install the driver through the executable.. it says problem with installing hardware, and then it disappears. Ubuntu sees it after restart, but if I start XP with that driver installed, it disappears from both and I get these errors in dmesg: [ 1047.760555] /dev/vmmon[2882]: PTSC: initialized at 3093322000 Hz using TSC, TSCs are synchronized. No idea how to fix this.. would prefer to not have to go to another computer. I'm not trying to do anything but get the pictures off of it. I have to restart ubuntu, plug in device, for ubuntu to see it correctly again. I am like a month and a half old linux newbie so I have no idea the commands I could use for this, and I don't have a memory card in the phone to mount.

  • Multiple cable adapter setup not working - VGA to smartphone. All cables tested and work

    - by Christopher Rucinski
Issue Pictured overhead projector setup does not work. #1 - #2 - #3 - Phone. All cables are tested and work! The issue is the HDMI connection between cable #2 and #3. With all other cables, the screen will automatically be displayed onto the projector screen. No extra work needed. With the pictured setup, the smartphone screen is not displayed onto the projector screen. What is the issue with the HDMI connection?? Background We recently had to do presentations at work (school), but the administration only provided VGA means of hooking up to it. Mostly likely reason probably dealt with cost. Anyways, there are several teachers that have brand new Samsung Series 9 ultrabooks (or similar). You know, the ones without VGA support. So I bought an adapter for those ultrabooks. Cable #5 in the picture below. However, both my coworker and I have been wanting to just display our phone screens on the projector. This I knew would require some extra work. What I have VGA cable to projector (cables go through the wall) For laptops HDMI to VGA cable For laptops MHL adapter For 11-pin microUSB phones microHDMI to VGA cable For ultrabooks 11-pin to 5-pin microUSB adapter For older 5-pin microUSB phones) Equipment Projectors 1 projector with VGA and HDMI input (issue is coworkers forget to switch sources) 1 projector with VGA only input Laptops 2 new Samsung ultrabooks w/o VGA or HDMI support 1 ultrabook with VGA and HDMI support several other laptops with at least VGA support 1 tablet with 11-pin microUSB at least 1 new phone with 11-pin microUSB at least 1 old phone with 5-pin microUSB Tested VGA cable (#1) to laptop Good VGA cable (#1) to HDMI adapter (#2) to laptop Good VGA cable (#1) to microHDMI adapter (#5) to laptop Good Projector to HDMI cable (not shown) to MHL adapter (#3) to Galaxy Note 3 smartphone Good VGA cable (#1) to HDMI adapter (#2) to MHL adapter (#3) to Galaxy Note 3 smartphone Does not work!! Extra Notes The 11-pin MHL adapter will not fit inside the 11-pin to 5-pin microUSB adapter so older phones can be displayed on the screen.

  • nokia cell phone not accepting IP from dnsmasq dhcp server

    - by samix
Hello, I having problem connecting a NOkia cell phone to my home wifi network. The wifi network is provided by a wireless card in a machine running Debian Testing and 2.6.26-2-686 kernel. The cars is D-Link DWL-G520 working in ap mode and has WPA encryption enabled. The wireless network is provided by hostapd using madwifi driver. Windows and Mac machines work properly with this wifi network. When I try to get the Nokia phone to connect to the wifi network, I get these lines in my dnsmasq log (to see lines without wrapping, here is the pastebin link for convenience - http://pastebin.com/m466c8fd2): Oct 27 13:25:21 red hostapd: ath0: STA 11:22:33:44:55:66 IEEE 802.11: disassociated Oct 27 13:25:21 red hostapd: ath0: STA 11:22:33:44:55:66 IEEE 802.11: associated Oct 27 13:25:21 red hostapd: ath0: STA 11:22:33:44:55:66 RADIUS: starting accounting session 4AE664FA-00000036 Oct 27 13:25:21 red hostapd: ath0: STA 11:22:33:44:55:66 WPA: pairwise key handshake completed (WPA) Oct 27 13:25:21 red hostapd: ath0: STA 11:22:33:44:55:66 WPA: group key handshake completed (WPA) Oct 27 13:25:21 red dnsmasq-dhcp[11451]: 3875439214 Available DHCP range: 192.168.5.150 -- 192.168.5.199 Oct 27 13:25:21 red dnsmasq-dhcp[11451]: 3875439214 DHCPDISCOVER(ath0) 0.0.0.0 11:22:33:44:55:66 Oct 27 13:25:21 red dnsmasq-dhcp[11451]: 3875439214 DHCPOFFER(ath0) 192.168.5.21 11:22:33:44:55:66 Oct 27 13:25:21 red dnsmasq-dhcp[11451]: 3875439214 requested options: 12:hostname, 6:dns-server, 15:domain-name, Oct 27 13:25:21 red dnsmasq-dhcp[11451]: 3875439214 requested options: 1:netmask, 3:router, 28:broadcast, 120:sip-server Oct 27 13:25:21 red dnsmasq-dhcp[11451]: 3875439214 tags: known, ath0 Oct 27 13:25:21 red dnsmasq-dhcp[11451]: 3875439214 next server: 192.168.5.1 Oct 27 13:25:21 red dnsmasq-dhcp[11451]: 3875439214 sent size: 1 option: 53:message-type 02 Oct 27 13:25:21 red dnsmasq-dhcp[11451]: 3875439214 sent size: 4 option: 54:server-identifier 192.168.5.1 Oct 27 13:25:21 red dnsmasq-dhcp[11451]: 3875439214 sent size: 4 option: 51:lease-time 00:00:46:50 Oct 27 13:25:21 red dnsmasq-dhcp[11451]: 3875439214 sent size: 4 option: 58:T1 00:00:23:28 Oct 27 13:25:21 red dnsmasq-dhcp[11451]: 3875439214 sent size: 4 option: 59:T2 00:00:3d:86 Oct 27 13:25:21 red dnsmasq-dhcp[11451]: 3875439214 sent size: 4 option: 1:netmask 255.255.255.0 Oct 27 13:25:21 red dnsmasq-dhcp[11451]: 3875439214 sent size: 4 option: 28:broadcast 192.168.5.255 Oct 27 13:25:21 red dnsmasq-dhcp[11451]: 3875439214 sent size: 4 option: 3:router 192.168.5.1 Oct 27 13:25:21 red dnsmasq-dhcp[11451]: 3875439214 sent size: 4 option: 6:dns-server 192.168.5.1 Oct 27 13:25:21 red dnsmasq-dhcp[11451]: 3875439214 sent size: 8 option: 15:domain-name home.pvt Oct 27 13:25:21 red dnsmasq-dhcp[11451]: 3875439214 sent size: 3 option: 12:hostname NokiaCellPhone Anybody know the problem might be? If I switch off dnsmasq dhcp queries logging, i.e. if I decrease the verbosity of the log, all I see are two lines of DHCPDISCOVER(ath0) and DHCPOFFER(ath0) repeatedly in the log with no acceptance by the cell phone. It appears as though the phone is not accepting the dhcp offer. However, if I give the phone a static IP address in its configuration, it works properly on the wifi network. So it appears as though the problem is dhcp related. Hints? Suggestions? Installed stuff: $ dpkg -l dnsmasq hostap* | grep ^i ii dnsmasq 2.50-1 A small caching DNS proxy and DHCP/TFTP server ii dnsmasq-base 2.50-1 A small caching DNS proxy and DHCP/TFTP server ii hostapd 1:0.6.9-3 user space IEEE 802.11 AP and IEEE 802.1X/WPA/ Thanks.
