    I have a very simple app written in Silverlight for Windows Phone, where I try to use events. In my App.xaml.cs code behind I have implemented a GeoCoordinateWatcher which registers a gCWatche_PositionChanged method. This works ok, method is called after the position has been changed. What I want to do is fire an other event lets say DBUpdatedEvent after DB has been updated in the gCWatche_PositionChanged method. For this i delclared in the App.xaml.cs public delegate void DBUpdateEventHandler(object sender, EventArgs e); and I have in my App class: public event DBUpdateEventHandler DBUpdated; the event is fired like this in the end of gCWatche_PositionChanged method like this: OnDBUpdateEvent(new EventArgs()); and also I have declared : protected virtual void OnDBUpdateEvent(EventArgs e) { if (DBUpdated != null) { DBUpdated(this, e); } } Now I need to consume this event in my other Windows Phone app page which is a separate class PhoneApplicationPage. So I declared this method in this other Phone Page: public void DBHasBeenUpdated(object sender, EventArgs e) { Debug.WriteLine("DB UPDATE EVENT CATCHED"); } And in the constructor of this page I declared: DBUpdateEventHandler dbEH = new DBUpdateEventHandler(DBHasBeenUpdated); But when I test the application event is fired (OnDBUpdateEvent is called, but DBUpdated is null, therefore DBUpdated is not called - strange) and I have a problem that the other Phone Page is not catching the event at all...     I have remote email access from an iPhone or my Android phone, but I cannot setup a Windows Email Client to check my email using the exact same information I provided in my phones. The email system is an Exchange 2003 and I hate using the cheap Outlook Web App that it has. User: [email protected] Password: 1234 Server: mail.domain.com And that works for they phones. So why can't I get it to work on my email client? Maybe a DNS problem?

    Currently it's running Android 1.5 - I'd clearly prefer to be on 1.6, 2.0 or 2.1 - but there seems to be limited information on this available on the internet. If anyone can confirm whether it's been done before, what versions are compatible with the handset, and any problems, it'd be really useful. Aside - it's kind of poor that a phone sold in March 2010 only runs Android 1.5... :(

    Hi In Android I can get phone numbers of all the contacts without any problem. Tha problem is that for most users some numbers are stored as 'local' numbers, meaning that they dont have the country code included. For example, if the user lives in US and he has 2 contacts: 1) John - 555-123-1234 (local) (starting 1 not showing) 2) Jane - 44-123456787 (england phone number) The question is: How do I get all the numbers in an international format, when some of the numbers doesnt include the country code? Any way to figure that out? Thanks

  • dismissModalViewControllerAnimated: crashes in Simulator but not on phone

    I'm doing the following: [self.parentViewController dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES] This code fails using the Simulator but works with no issues on the phone itself. The Simulator's console shows no erros. I used NSLog statements to pinpoint this line of code as the culprit. When running on the phone, however, the console(windoworganizer) shows that the above code is executed and the application proceeds forward with no problem. When running the code in debugger, the following statement appears at the bottom of the Xcode debug window: GDB: Data Formatters temporarily unavailable, will re-try after a 'continue'. (Not safe to call dlopen at this time.) Then a window dispalys stating: Loading 43672 stack frames. (that sounds bad) In the debug window the following line appears numerous times: [UIView(Hierarchy) _makeSubtreePerformSelector:withObject:withObject:copySublayers:] Without getting too deep into my code, does anyone know about or have experience with this type of condition?     I'm working on a Sharepoint 2007 (MOSS Std) intranet implementation right now, and one of the things we'd like to do is replace the manually-maintained phone directory with the profile information we're importing from AD. People search is great, but I want to have a big page with all the names and phone numbers of the 150 or so people that work at the company (which means using the People Search webpart with a query hard-coded to return everyone won't work). A few quick searches haven't turned up anything, but this seems like a really common request. Can anyone help me out? I'm not opposed to buying a reasonably-priced webpart to solve this or writing some custom code, but both seem like they shouldn't be required for such a simple request.

So my question is, how can I keep the phone alive (backlight turned on) until my application is done? An example of this would be video streaming applications such as Youtube.     I am developing an app for Nokia 5800 Music Express (S60 5th edition) using PyS60 (Python for S60) ,I want to simulate a KeyPress say if a message comes,I detect a message and Press a Key. There does exist a Keypress module for PyS60 for 2nd edition phones which allows this. However I have not been able to install it on my 5th ed phone. Is this module portable? If yes then how do I install it (I get certificate error) and If no then any alternatives for simulating a key press on a 5th edition touch phone?

    hi, im trying to get a contacts name and phone number from the contacts list. im using: contactname = Curser.getString(Curser.getColumnIndex(Contacts.DISPLAY_NAME)); to get their name and it works fine. But using: contactphone = Curser.getString(Curser.getColumnIndex(ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.NUMBER)); causes no warnings or errors and builds fine, yet force closes in both the emulator (2.1) and my htc desire (nexus one 2.2 rom/htc desire 2.1 rom). Any ideas how to fix it? oh and contactname and contactphone are both strings thanks, ng93

    Hello, I am trying to get a .jar file onto my mobile device. I have written a j2me application and I want to get it onto my phone. I have developed it in eclipse galileo and I export my project folder to a jar. When I try to download the jar file from the internet onto my phone I get an "incorrect description" error.
